Daily Broadside | Our Political Class Are a Bunch of Self-Righteous Clowns

Daily Verse | Exodus 18:21
But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

Good Wednesday morning. Never try closing a revolving door.

Yesterday the Senate took up the articles of sham-peachment from the House that Pelosi has polluted with her disgusting weaponization of our constitutional order. Rand Paul got things going by moving to set aside the “impeachment” because the Constitution doesn’t provide for removing private citizens from offices they do not hold.

He takes the whole of the Senate to the woodshed over “this sham of an impeachment … a dark blot on the history of our country.” Watch:

He’s right, of course. But five Republicans voted against setting aside this travesty. It’s not like we couldn’t have guessed who they would be: Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Pat Toomey voted with the Democrats. Every one of them needs to be replaced.

My go-to journalism news source, The Epoch Times, reported,

“[The impeachment] will be unconstitutional, but that probably won’t bother the senators,” Dershowitz told Fox News earlier this month. “The Constitution is very clear. The subject, the object, the purpose of impeachment is to remove a sitting president. And there are two precedents. One is very obvious. When President Nixon resigned in anticipation of being impeached and removed, there was no effort to impeach him after he left office.”

“Won’t bother the senators”? Of course it won’t bother the senators! All of the Democrats and the five Republicans are constitutionally illiterate. Or maybe they understand the constitution, but so deeply hate Donald Trump that they’re more interested in using it for a cudgel to exact revenge than they are in preserving it.

The men and women in Congress, and specifically the Democrats, are engaging in political theater with this ridiculous waste of time and money. As Rand Paul said, it is a “dark blot” on our history and an embarrassment before the world because we so obviously do not have our $#!+ together. I lay the blame at the feet of the Democrats and the squish Republicans, who are really just less progressive versions of the extremists across the aisle.

The Democrats are a garbage party and some Republicans like the smell of the dump. All are immoral political hacks who should be nowhere near the levers of power because they have no character or wisdom to guide their privilege. They only have their corrupted souls to guide them. With a few notable exceptions, none are “men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain.” In fact, most are just the opposite.

Maybe it’s time to give Jethro’s advice to Moses another look.
