Daily Broadside | Progressives Are Altruistic Marxists Until They Get Rich

Daily Verse | 2 Kings 6:16
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

Happy Friday, fellow Broadsiders. Russian dolls are full of themselves.

We’ve all heard of the BLM Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF), the umbrella organization of the BLM movement. This is the group responsible for inciting the mostly violent peaceful protests and demonstrations across our nation last year after the tragic in-custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

A core tenet of BLM that no longer appears on their website is the disruption of the nuclear family. The statement was included among BLM’s public policy positions on a “What We Believe” page. That page was removed in September 2020, although you can still see the entire page here on the Way Back Machine. Here’s what the statement said:

We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.

This is nothing short of Marxist ideology, which seeks to disrupt the nuclear family. That should be no surprise, since BLM’s co-founder Patrisse Cullors described herself and others as “trained Marxists.” BLM also used clearly Marxist language in the deleted “What We Believe” page, including the words “comrades,” “collective,” “struggle,” and “communal.”

In other words, BLM is a socialist ideology dressed up like a civil rights movement. Socialism, remember, is a political and economic system built on collective ownership of the means of production and the equal distribution of the products of labor. The goal is a “classless” society whose members are economic equals—a true workers’ paradise.

Imagine the shock, then, when we learned that Patrisse Cullors, now the executive director of BLMGNF, has purchased four homes in the U.S. worth $3.2 million.

Just kidding! — wasn’t shocked.

The leader of a movement advocating the equal distribution of wealth has more homes than socialist icon Bernie Sanders. That isn’t sitting too well with those formally or informally affiliated with the BLM movement. After all, BLMGNF’s 2020 Impact Report shows that the organization is sitting on some $60 million out of $90 million in donations received. It’s natural to suspect that maybe the leader is getting a sizeable cut of those “operating expenses.”

A page from BLMGNF’s “2020 Impact Report” showing the breakdown of their finances.

But, no, Cullors “serves in this role in a volunteer capacity and does not receive a salary or benefits,” BLM said in an official statement.

BLM also deflected the controversy by injecting race into the discussion, claiming, Without Evidence, that the “narratives being spread about Patrisse have been generated by right-wing forces” who put “Patrisse, her child and her loved ones in harm’s way” and “continues a tradition of terror by white supremacists against Black activists.”

It turns out that BLM has been under pressure to be more transparent about their finances.

“For years there has been inquiry regarding the financial operations of BLMGN and no acceptable process of either public or internal transparency about the unknown millions of dollars donated to BLMGN, which has certainly increased during this time of pandemic and rebellion,” the chapters said.

So if not through BLMGNF, how did a self-described anti-capitalist monetize her activism? She founded a consulting firm, “Janaya & Patrisse Consulting.” She wrote a a New York Times bestseller, When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir. She also signed a multi-year, multi-platform deal with Warner Brothers (although to do what isn’t known).

Well, good for her. I’m really not that upset or even that interested in what Patrisse Cullors does with the money she seems to have made. If there’s anything that bothers me about it, it’s this: she’s no Marxist—she just plays one on TV.

Cullors is just another clear-eyed capitalist who’s figured out how to leverage the grievance industry into personal wealth. Look at Barack Hussein Obama and his $12 million mansion. He’s the same one who said, “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Right. We’re all altruistic Marxists until we get fabulously wealthy. Then we’re all greedy capitalists.

I say, a pox on both their houses. BLM agitators deserve Cullors. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer group of commies.

Daily Broadside | Fake News CNN Proudly Owns Border Crisis and $3 Gas

Daily Verse | 2 Kings 5:15
Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God. He stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel.”

It’s Thursday and while you were minding your business and taking care of your loved ones, the ground beneath your feet continued to move. It may not look a lot different today but, believe me, it’s different than yesterday.

It’s particularly different when it comes to the legacy media and, specifically, when it comes to CNN. I’ve made no secret of my disdain for the legacy media outlets like MSNBCNNDNC+. They’re basically mouth organs for the anti-American Democrat party. Glenn Reynolds and his company of writers over at Instapundit often say things like, “Just think of the media as Democratic Party operatives with bylines, and it all makes sense.”

Except at CNN, you can’t think of them as Democrat party operatives, but as members of the Ministry of Truth in America; more like Pravda, the former official newspaper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. It’s no secret that CNN and other left-wing “news” outlets are biased in favor of the Democrats, but it wasn’t until this last week that they actually admitted what they are: a propaganda publishing house.

You may remember we recently covered that: “The term for people who lobby for Democrat policies in this clumsy of a manner is ‘Democrat activists in the propaganda field,’ certainly not reporters, or journalists. They need to be treated as what they are. It’s time to stop acting like these political activists are professionals who do honest journalism” (Mollie Hemingway).

In the latest Project Veritas sting video, CNN Technical Director Charlie Chester admits that CNN uses “propaganda” to help the Democrats.

“Look what we did, we got Trump out. I am 100% going to say it, and I 100% believe that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out,” Chester says. “I came to CNN because I wanted to be a part of that.” He then admits that CNN made up a story about Trump’s health. “[His] hand was shaking or whatever, I think. We brought in so many medical people to tell a story that was all speculation … we were creating a story there that we didn’t know anything about. That’s what—I think that’s propaganda,” he says—and then shrugs off his admission.

“I think that’s propaganda.”

Yeah, I think that’s propaganda, too. Here’s how Merriam-Webster defines the word propaganda: “the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person.” Hmm. Does that fit? CNN says they worked to harm president Donald J. Trump while propping up a “young geriatric” Biden to get Trump out.

Rumor? Check. Helping a cause? Check. Injuring a person? Check.

I think that’s propaganda.

In a second video, Project Veritas revealed the same junior commie talking about how CNN is trying to destroy Rep. Matt Gaetz. Here Chester admits CNN has an agenda and is intentionally trying to hurt Gaetz.

“If the agenda, say, is to like get, like Matt Gaetz right now—he’s like this Republican. He’s a problem for the Democratic Party because he’s so conservative and he can cause a lot of hiccups in the passing of laws and whatnot. So, it would be great for the Democratic Party to get him out. So we’re going to keep running those stories to keep hurting him. and make it so that it can’t be buried, and like just settled outside of court and just like, you know, if we keep pushing that, it’s helping us.”

Rumor? Check. Helping a cause? Check. Injuring a person? Check.

I think that’s propaganda.

When our Founders guaranteed “freedom of the press” in the First Amendment, what they meant was the right to publish apart from government approval. They intended to prohibit “Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely.” And by “press” they literally meant the printing press.

What they did not mean was “journalism” or “newspapers” or “mainstream media”—and certainly not “CNN.”

The establishment media “press” of today has arrogated to itself a freedom belonging to all Americans and has used that theft to elevate itself to constitutionally protected status. The implications of this error are profound: those preening and self-righteous media elitists have no more rights or privileges under the Constitution than any other citizen and merit no special consideration from any other American, including elected officials. The same crowd which perpetrates fake news on us has perpetuated a fake meme about their own existence. It’s not quite stolen valor, but it’s at least stolen position, authority and reputation.

Here we have a member of the “establishment media press” which now openly admits that it has a viewpoint, an agenda, and a willingness to publish disinformation in pursuit of both. It probably also believes that it has “constitutionally protected status.”

“Look what we did, we got Trump out,” says Charlie Chester. Yeah, look what you did: Millions of illegal aliens crossing the border, kids being separated from parents, sex trafficking, paying $3.00/gal at the pump, and a brainless puppet occupying the White House—all courtesy of CNN!

CNN is an enemy of the people and should be treated like one.

Say, does anybody know if there’s a regulatory body that’s responsible for implementing and enforcing America’s communications law and regulations? A federal commission or agency, perhaps?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Trump was more right than we knew when he called CNN “Fake News.” Even CNN admits as much. Equally pathetic is that CNN has billed itself as “The World’s Most Trusted Name in News.” That’s propaganda if I’ve ever heard it.

Daily Broadside | The Only Effective Mask Is The Lone Ranger’s

Daily Verse | 2 Kings 2:9b
“Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

Wednesday and I didn’t write a Broadside yesterday because I was in Orlando over the weekend. By the time I got home Monday night I was sunburned, travel-whipped and out of gas.

Even though I was in Florida, which is an “open” state, you have to wear a mask just about everywhere. That’s after suffering through the airports’ and airlines’ policies. I took a budget airline this past weekend, but had flown a few weeks ago on one of the big three. They all warn you as you’re waiting at the gate that a mask is required to fly, that if you don’t comply you’ll be refused service, and you may even be denied service in the future.

They tell you so at the gate at least twice, and then repeat it once you’re aboard the plane. “You must wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth. It must remain on at all times. If the oxygen mask drops from the ceiling, remember to remove your mask before placing the oxygen mask over your nose and mouth. We will be coming through the cabin to check if your mask is secured over your nose and mouth. If you fall asleep and your mask falls down, we will wake you up and ask you to put it back in place. If you’re eating or drinking, please replace the mask when you’re in between bites or sips.”

Then—and get this—on the flight to Orlando they seated us every other row to help us “social distance” but then packed us shoulder-to-shoulder in the remaining rows, three seats across. On the flight back, they sat us shoulder-to-shoulder three across and filled every row! I sat in the middle seat both there and back, my nose and mouth less than 18-inches from the person’s nose and mouth sitting on either side of me.

That’s “science.”

It was all too much. My ears hurt from not only the repeated warnings (“mask-wearing is not up for discussion,” said one gate attendant over the sound system), but from actually wearing a mask. Masks may be light-weight like those  blue pleated surgical models, but if they’re hooked over your ears for hours, they will hurt.

By the way, did you know walking through an airport with a mask is a respiratory activity? Getting from security (“please pull your mask down so I can see your face,” says the guard checking your ID) to your gate 80 miles away produces a slight sweat that sticks the mask to your face. Not to mention that your breath escapes through the edge of the mask on your nose, fogging up your glasses. Yeah, nothing gets through this face diaper!

It’s insane. At least the Lone Ranger’s mask did what it was supposed to and kept his identity secret.

You do know that wearing a mask is ineffective, don’t you? Read this story from six months ago in The Federalist, comparing infection rates in states with mask mandates to states without. Here’s what they found (my emphasis in all following quotes):

Masks can work well when they’re fully sealed, properly fitted, changed often, and have a filter designed for virus-sized particles. This represents none of the common masks available on the consumer market, making universal masking much more of a confidence trick than a medical solution.

Another study using similar data found that

A February 2021 review by the European CDC found no significant evidence supporting the effectiveness of non-medical and medical face masks in the community. Furthermore, the European CDC advised against the use of FFP2/N95 respirators by the general public. (Source)

Finally, here’s another report from February 2021 that concludes,

In fact, it is not unreasonable at this time to conclude that surgical and cloth masks, used as they currently are, have absolutely no impact on controlling the transmission of Covid-19 virus, and current evidence implies that face masks can be actually harmful.

We knew this about masks more than 100 years ago:

After the Spanish flu, the surgeon general of the U.S. Navy wrote in an annual report in 1919: “The wearing of face masks by healthy persons was made compulsory at several stations and on board a few vessels. On the whole this was not a practicable measure and little or no good was accomplished by the use of masks. The eyes were not protected. The masks quickly became soiled and required frequent adjustment by the fingers.”

He further continued: “No evidence was presented which would justify compelling persons at large to wear masks during an epidemic. The mask is designed only to afford protection against a direct spray from the mouth of a carrier of pathogenic microorganisms.”

So why does the website for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say about masks, “Masks are an additional step to help prevent people from getting and spreading COVID-19. They provide a barrier that keeps respiratory droplets from spreading. Wear a mask and take every day preventive actions in public settings”?

How can that be true if the stats show that current mask mandates make no discernible difference in controlling the spread of the Chinese Lung Pox? And how can that be true if the CDC’s own research disputes the claim they’re making above?

Disposable medical masks (also known as surgical masks) are loose-fitting devices that were designed to be worn by medical personnel to protect accidental contamination of patient wounds, and to protect the wearer against splashes or sprays of bodily fluids. There is limited evidence for their effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission either when worn by the infected person for source control or when worn by uninfected persons to reduce exposure. Our systematic review found no significant effect of face masks on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.

Like you, I can only read the studies and decide who I trust. I don’t trust the CDC for obvious reasons—they’re part of the U.S. government—and I don’t trust the U.S. government. For obvious reasons.

Daily Broadside | It’s Time for Americans to Start Acting Like These Canadians

Daily Verse | 1 Kings 15:5
For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life—except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

It’s Monday and the start of a new week as the lunacy continues under Hunter’s father. But I see signs that Normal Americans are starting to get sick and tired of the nonsense, especially as it concerns the Chinese Bat Flu.

I’ve got three videos for you to watch. (If you have the Daily Broadside delivered and you’re reading this in your email, I encourage you to click through to the site. You really need to watch these.)

The first two are examples of what you and others can do in response to those busybodies who try to interfere with running a business or simply getting on with your life. The third earns a language warning from me, but I share it because most of us feel the same way as the guy who originally shared it.

In the first, Polish pastor Artur Pawlowski demands that police officers and officials from Alberta Health Services and City of Calgary Bylaw services leave after they interrupted a Passover service at the Street Church in Alberta, Canada.

Most chilling is what Pastor Pawlowski said after the video went viral.

“I grew up in Poland under the boot of the Soviets, behind the Iron Curtain,” Pawlowski added to the outlet. “What I see right now, I see everything escalating and moving to the new level. They’re acting just like the Communists were acting when I was growing up when the pastors and the priests were arrested, and some were murdered. Many were tortured.”

“That’s why I say what I say,” he explained to the Daily Caller. “Because I see a repetition of history.”

We should be listening to men and women like him. Most of all, we should be doing what he did and demand that they get out. Which is what the next video also shows.

Again in Canada, patrons of Corduroy, a restaurant in Vancouver, chanted “Get out!” at two health inspectors.

Again, a group of people standing against the representation of tyranny, in this case, two health inspectors. We’ve watched over the last year as masked “Karens” (men and women) rage at others who aren’t wearing masks or aren’t socially-distanced enough for their satisfaction. It’s about time we gave them a dose of their own medicine.

I’m referring to people like the young woman in this next video (don’t know if she’s Canadian, but don’t hear any accent, ay?). Again, language warning both for what she says (especially for what she says) and for the written response of the Twitter user who shared it.

I’m actually sympathetic to the guy’s comment. Is there anyone listening to this woman’s rant who doesn’t think something similar? Seriously, she needs help.

Imagine living in such fear that you rage-shame everyone who isn’t doing what you think they should be doing to keep you safe. And your ideas of what constitutes “safe” are formed by the Covidiots who run our country even though it’s clear they don’t have a clue what the right thing is to do—chief among them “Dr.” Anthony Fauci.

You think me wearing a mask is going to help you? Have you seen the stats?

I’ve have been asked the question, “What do we do?” in the midst of the chaos. One of the things we can do is stand firm against those who try to impose their will on the unwilling. Where mask-wearing is optional or not enforced, I’ve gone into stores without one. Sometimes I have been confronted about it. In each case I’ve refused to comply.

It takes guts to do it, because you may not be successful. But then again, you might be. And if you are successful at staring down the enforcers and others see you do it, then maybe we can inspire them to do the same.

Daily Broadside | There is No “Exception” in the Second Amendment

Daily Verse | 1 Kings 12:8
But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and
consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him.

It’s Friday and the end of another week under the heel of Chairman Cho Bai Den and his communist acolytes. Dear Leader, “claiming that shootings are a ‘public health crisis,'” just announced several gun control measures.

Here’s what he said.

“A Public Health Crisis”

“Today we’re taking steps to confront not just the gun crisis, but what is actually a public health crisis.”

That’s is an interesting way to frame this “discussion.” Why is he using the phrase “public health crisis”? What does he mean? A mental health crisis? An anger management problem?

He probably means lead poisoning.

As Paula Bolyard worries, “After what our country has been through over the last year with the endless COVID-19 lockdown orders, the words ‘public health crisis’ are very ominous indeed.”

I fear it’s only a matter of time before someone gets the idea to regulate gun ownership by declaring a public health emergency. Is that what Biden’s up to with the language above? Time will tell, but don’t be surprised if whoever is running the show at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue tries to make an end-run around Congress to push through emergency orders to confiscate guns from those deemed a “health risk,” beginning with anyone who attended the Trump rally on Jan. 6.

“Nothing I Recommend Impinges on the Second Amendment”

“Nothing, nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment. They’re phony arguments suggesting that these are Second Amendment rights at stake for what we’re talking about.”

Funny to hear Biden talk about “phony.” The man is a walking, talking textbook example of phony. If he tells you that nothing he is about to say “impinges” on the Second Amendment, grab your guns and hold on for dear life, because the word he’s looking for isn’t “impinges” but “infringes.”

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

“Shall not be infringed.”

Shall not.

Sounds absolute to me.

In fact, a good case can be made that all federal gun restrictions are illegal infringements.

The truth is, the intentions of those who debated, wrote and passed the Second Amendment are clear: The purpose of the amendment is to protect individual liberty by, in part, stopping the federal government from instituting gun restrictions of any kind, because America’s founders wanted to ensure citizens had the ability to defend themselves against a tyrannical national government and other domestic threats, as well as from foreign invaders.

“No Amendment to The Constitution Is Absolute”

This is another worrisome statement. If no amendment is “absolute,” what does that mean for the First Amendment, much less the Second? Biden uses the example of the freedom of speech to press his point.

“You can’t yell ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater. Recall the freedom of speech.”

First, Resident Biden, don’t presume to lecture us on “you know, the thing.” You’re no constitutional scholar, nor are the cabal of Leftists you’ve surrounded yourself with. Second, the “yelling-fire-in-a-crowded-theater” maxim is associated with one of “the most odious free speech decisions in the Court’s history, but was overturned over 40 years ago.”

Today, despite the “crowded theater” quote’s legal irrelevance, advocates of censorship have not stopped trotting it out as the final word on the lawful limits of the First Amendment. As Rottman wrote, for this reason, it’s “worse than useless in defining the boundaries of constitutional speech. When used metaphorically, it can be deployed against any unpopular speech.” Worse, its advocates are tacitly endorsing one of the broadest censorship decisions ever brought down by the Court. It is quite simply, as Ken White calls it, “the most famous and pervasive lazy cheat in American dialogue about free speech.”

Biden goes on to say, without evidence, that “From the very beginning, you couldn’t own any weapon you wanted to own. From the very beginning the Second Amendment existed, certain people weren’t allowed to have weapons.”

Really? You expect us to believe that? Please, give us all the examples you’ve collected. As Tyler O’Neil writes,

Biden is laying the groundwork for carving out exceptions to key constitutional rights. It’s not just gun control: Biden supports the Obamacare contraception mandate and would remove religious freedom exemptions for Catholic nuns like the Little Sisters of the Poor. Biden also supports the Equality Act, which explicitly undermines the First Amendment’s guarantee of the free exercise of religion and the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Biden supports H.R. 1, the Democrats’ election boondoggle that, among other things, eviscerates free speech in politics by mandating donor disclosure.

This is tyranny dressed up as concern for “safety.” Are there too many shooting deaths? Too many people in pain from the loss of loved ones? Yes, there are.

But the answer isn’t to violate the Constitution. The answer is to make men fear God again.

Daily Broadside | Remember When Abdul Bin Franklin Got Shocked by Lightning?

Daily Verse | 1 Kings 8:61
“But your hearts must be fully committed to the Lord our God,
to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.”

Happy Thursday Broadsiders. It seems like wherever you turn these days, you find another shot of crazy begging for attention. It’s like living inside a blender trying to avoid getting cut by the blades while you watch it slice up everything around you.

The most recent idiocy comes as the State Department designates this April, “Arab American Heritage Month.” In making the announcement, spokesman wokeperson Ned Price said that Arab American contributions (and I quote), “are as old as America itself.”

Next, today the Department of State is proud to recognize April as National Arab American Heritage Month. The United States is home to more than 3.5 million Arab Americans, representing a diverse array of cultures and traditions. Like their fellow citizens, Americans of Arab heritage are very much a part of the fabric of this nation, and Arab Americans have contributed in every field and profession. Many of them, in fact, serve here at the State Department and throughout the interagency, and their careers are as diverse as their backgrounds. We mark National Arab American Heritage Month noting these contributions that are as old as America itself.

Apart from that last sentence I don’t have much in the way of concerns about what was said. Yes, Americans of Arab descent do reside here and contribute in a wide variety of professions and fields. And, yes, they work at the State Department and have diverse careers.

But Arabs have not been making contributions since the beginning of “America.” Classic far-left twiddle-twaddle. Considering that the original 13 colonies were settled long before our country was officially founded in 1776 with our declared independence from England, and that Arabs did not start emigrating here until the late 1800s, Price’s statement is a bald-faced lie. Robert Spencer, who has been banned from Great Britain for his writings on Islam, had a lot to say about Price’s comments.

As for Price’s claim that Arab-American contributions to the U.S. “are as old as America itself,” the same claim was made many times by none other than Barack Hussein Obama. As many times as it is repeated, however, it remains fictional, just another example of the left’s relentless Islamopandering. Arab Americans’ contributions to the U.S. are as old as America itself? Really? There were Arabs at Jamestown? In the Massachusetts Bay Colony? At Roanoke?

Ned Price’s statement is so wildly ridiculous that it doesn’t just invite parody; it pleads for it. Remember the Arabs among the Founding Fathers, Yahya al-Adams and Iskandar Hamilton? Remember the Arabs who told Yaqub Madison about Muhammad’s Constitution of Medina so that he could lay out the foundations of a republic in the U.S. Constitution? Remember the Arabs who fought so valiantly in the Revolutionary Jihad, and the Jihad of 1812, and the Mexican Jihad, and the Civil War, aka the Jihad Between the Caliphates? Remember all the controversies about whether Muslim soldiers in the Civil War could make sex slaves out of the wives and daughters of Confederate commanders? The jihad suicide attacks that broke the Germans’ will to fight on during World War I?

He’s right—the claim is laughable. But Price probably thinks it’s safe to make a garbage comment like that because in our easily-offended society, no one wants to be seen as opposing “Arab American Heritage Month” because that would mean you’re a racist and an Islamophobe and a nationalist and a xenophobe, you hater. So why not declare it, make it part of the official record and build on it from there?

The broader goal here is to diminish Euro-American (white) culture which is to say, the Judeo-Christian values upon which the country was founded. Saying that Arabs have been contributing to American life and culture since the beginning is an attempt to undermine the obvious White Anglo-Saxon Protestant composition of our founding. It’s a rewriting of history, much like the discredited 1619 Project that attempted to “reframe the country’s history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative.”

I don’t mind if we want to recognize a particular ethnic group like Arabs who have made their home here in the United States and contribute to our collective life as Americans. But don’t lie to me, you woke Marxists, to somehow and for some reason enhance their standing. The answer is not to exaggerate Arab presence or contributions in America, but to recognize their participation in our melting pot salad bowl, just like we do with the Irish, African Americans, American Indians, Hispanics and others.

Anti-American progressive liars like Ned Price shouldn’t be in positions of power.

Daily Broadside | One Year In and the Media is Still Garbage

Daily Verse | 1 Kings 4:20
The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on
the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy.

It’s Wednesday and a small celebration. I started this blog just over a year ago on April 1, 2020. It’s been a year of learning as I developed content and tried to find a rhythm that suited me—and you, the reader. My “Daily Broadside” has become the spine of the blog that gets sent to more than 200 subscribers every Monday through Friday at 5:00 AM.

A big thank you to you subscribers for signing up and supporting this venture. I do no advertising so I assume most of the growth is due to word-of-mouth from fans of this blog.

I have some ideas of how to keep evolving the blog and I’ll be experimenting this next year with changes that will hopefully keep you engaged and build a larger audience. If you have friends who you think would like what we discuss here, I’d be grateful if you’d share the site with them and encourage them to subscribe. When you share it means a lot to me, especially these days when cancel culture is a thing and Constitutional conservatives who follow Christ are shouted down for refusing to follow the herd.

I don’t expect everyone who reads this blog to agree with everything I write, but I do hope there’s a lot of like-minded people gathering here to consider what’s happening to our country politically and culturally and where faith in God fits in. And I’ll bet that there are a lot more out there. Let them know there’s a place that is making the effort to represent their view too.

The other thing to note is that if you’re reading through the Bible with me this year, we’re now 25 percent of the way through. Keep going! You can download a copy of the plan below if you’d like to join us.

All I want to do with this morning’s Broadside is reinforce what I’ve repeatedly said here and on social media. The legacy media is garbage—absolute garbage. There are plenty of examples out there and I’ve offered many in the past. What I want you to see is a couple of quotes from Mollie Hemingway, senior editor at The Federalist, who wrote a terrific piece on March 31 called, “It’s Important To Be Honest About What Today’s Media Actually Are.”

In it she examines Resident Biden’s “press conference,” which was really a staged and carefully managed public Q&A with pre-determined questioners and written answers for the cognitively disabled man at the podium. Hemingway writes, “Biden had his own struggles in the slow and painful press conference, repeatedly having to read off notecards to get through the few mild foreign policy topics, and occasionally getting lost in ‘rhetorical cul-de-sacs,’ as Fox News’ Bret Baier kindly put it. But somehow it was the media performance that stood out as particularly cringe-inducing.”

After carefully analyzing the presser and showing how unprofessional the “journalists” were, she offers a couple of paragraphs (below, with my emphasis) that I think sum up what is increasingly obvious about “journalists” these days.

The term for people who lobby for Democrat policies in this clumsy of a manner is “Democrat activists in the propaganda field,” certainly not reporters, or journalists. They need to be treated as what they are.

It’s time to stop acting like these political activists are professionals who do honest journalism. Continuing that pretense is not doing a favor to the public. It’s not true. With very few exceptions, these people are not there to do journalism, and we need to be honest about that with the public. Not everyone is as bad as everyone else, but nearly the entire press corps is somewhere on the Democrat activist scale, from lefty to fringe, from shrewd to clumsy and clownish.

So what do we do? We stop giving them our time, attention and money.

They need to be treated as what they are. So for the love of all that’s holy, stop calling them the “mainstream media” when they are anything but mainstream, with views far to the left of the average American, and they’re not media but propagandists and political activists. If you hear anybody else refer to the “mainstream media,” rhetorically slap that 1980s term out of their mouth.

Average Americans need to stop reading and watching the corrupt corporate media. They should immediately stop subscribing to them, stop advertising with them, and stop paying attention to them. Reporters at these outlets quite obviously hate many Americans and the values they hold, and it’s time most Americans realized that and acted appropriately in response.

Don’t just take it from me—Hemingway and others who are a lot smarter than I am and get paid to write opinions say the same thing. One of the first I read was Glenn Reynolds over at Instapundit, who often remarks, “Just think of the media as Democratic Party operatives with bylines and you won’t go far wrong.”

I’ve learned that is true and so should you.

Daily Broadside | CBS “News” Distorts Truth to Make False Accusation

Daily Verse | 1 Kings 2:2-3
So be strong, show yourself a man, and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.

It’s Tuesday and the media monkeys keep twisting and distorting the truth so that their preferred narrative is upheld, the latest example being a CBS News “60 Minutes” report on the Chinese Lung Pox vaccine distribution in Florida. “Reporter” Sharyn Alfonsi reported that Governor Ron DeSantis “received a $100,000 donation to his PAC from Publix grocery stores, which later partnered with the state to distribute COVID-19 vaccines.”

The obvious insinuation is that somehow Publix paid DeSantis for the right to distribute the Kung Flu vaccine.

“60 Minutes” aired a deceptively edited clip of Alfonsi confronting DeSantis at a news conference in which she accused him of a “pay-to-play” scheme and DeSantis corrected the record. The Daily Wire provided the transcript of the exchange, showing what CBS “News” kept and what it edited out.

“Transcript of the interaction between DeSantis and Alfonsi is featured below (All words appearing in bold were cut out by CBS News):”

Sharyn Alfonsi: Publix, as you know, donated $100,000 to your campaign, and then you rewarded them with the exclusive rights to distribute the vaccination in Palm Beach—

Ron DeSantis: So, first of all, that — what you’re saying is wrong. That’s—

Sharyn Alfonsi: How is that not pay-to-play?

Ron DeSantis: —that, that’s a fake narrative. So, first of all, when we did, the first pharmacies that had it were CVS and Walgreens. And they had a long-term care mission. So they were going to the long-term care facilities. They got the vaccine in the middle of December, they started going to the long-term care facilities the third week of December to do LTCs. So that was their mission. That was very important. And we trusted them to do that. As we got into January, we wanted to expand the distribution points. So yes, you had the counties, you had some drive through sites, you had hospitals that were doing a lot, but we wanted to get it into communities more. So we reached out to other retail pharmacies — Publix, Walmart — obviously CVS and Walgreens had to finish that mission. And we said, we’re going to use you as soon as you’re done with that. For Publix, they were the first one to raise their hand, say they were ready to go. And you know what, we did it on a trial basis. I had three counties. I actually showed up that weekend and talked to seniors across four different Publix. How was the experience? Is this good? Should you think this is a way to go? And it was 100% positive. So we expanded it, and then folks liked it. And I can tell you, if you look at a place like Palm Beach County, they were kind of struggling at first in terms of the senior numbers. I went, I met with the county mayor. I met with the administrator. I met with all the folks in Palm Beach County, and I said, “Here’s some of the options: we can do more drive-through sites, we can give more to hospitals, we can do the Publix, we can do this.” They calculated that 90% of their seniors live within a mile and a half of a Publix. And they said, “We think that would be the easiest thing for our residents.” So, we did that, and what ended up happening was, you had 65 Publix in Palm Beach. Palm Beach is one of the biggest counties, one of the most elderly counties, we’ve done almost 75% of the seniors in Palm Beach, and the reason is because you have the strong retail footprint. So our way has been multifaceted. It has worked. And we’re also now very much expanding CVS and Walgreens, now that they’ve completed the long term care mission.

Sharyn Alfonsi: The criticism is that it’s pay-to-play, governor.

Ron DeSantis: And it’s wrong. It’s wrong. It’s a fake narrative. I just disabused you of the narrative. And you don’t care about the facts. Because, obviously, I laid it out for you in a way that is irrefutable.

Sharyn Alfonsi: Well, I— I was just—

Ron DeSantis: And, so, it’s clearly not.

Sharyn Alfonsi: Isn’t there the nearest Publix —

Ron DeSantis: No, no, no. You’re wrong.

Sharyn Alfonsi: —30 miles away.

Ron DeSantis: You’re wrong. You’re wrong. Yes, sir?

Sharyn Alfonsi: That’s actually a fact.

So CBS “News” deceptively edited the segment to leave out the large chunk of DeSantis’s answer that explained how the distribution was arranged in order to smear DeSantis—and Publix—as participants in a pay-to-play scheme.

Two DEMOCRATS immediately called out “60 Minutes,” including Florida’s Division of Emergency Management Director, Jared Moskowitz, and Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner.

Publix itself clapped back in a defense of its help in distributing vaccines because of the garbage reporting of CBS “News.”

You might be asking yourself, Why the hit piece on Ron DeSantis since his leadership in Florida emerging from the pandemic is so successful? Here’s why: he’s a major threat to Democrats in the 2024 presidential election.

I’d love to say that Democrats are afraid of him, but if the anti-American socialist progressive Democrat mob gets its way, we may never have a fair election again, what with HR-1 and flooding the country with illegal voters from Central and South America.

Nonetheless, the less complications the better, so the Left is starting now to tear down DeSantis through manufactured controversies. Unfortunately for CBS “News,” even the state’s Democrats see through the attempted smear. Plus, the news conference was public, so it doesn’t take much effort to fact check their “reporting.”

Maybe CBS “News” doesn’t know about the Internet yet.

Daily Broadside | America the Beautiful is Like a Home for Crack Addicts Now

Daily Verse | 2 Samuel 24:24
“I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

It’s Monday, the day after Easter Sunday. The news out of Jerusalem was indeed good, and Jesus spent the next forty days interacting with his apostles, giving many “convincing proofs” that he was alive (Acts 1:3). His presence should be a great comfort to us who believe, as the destruction of our country continues apace without any sign of human or divine intervention on its way.

Let’s check in on what’s been happening in the last week.

Dementia Joe, the figurehead of the junta that was put in charge by our domestic enemies, continues to weakly read his scripted nonsense and issue directives that are aimed at undermining government of, by and for The People. While we were reminding ourselves last week that Jesus Christ is King and that one day all of His enemies will be put under His feet, the anti-Americans in Washington, D.C. were putting We, The People, under the feet of our international enemies, including Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.

PJ Media’s Richard Fernandez:

While Biden-Harris sees itself as “back” in charge, recent Great Power challenges treat them as a fading, decadent relic. At a top-level diplomatic meeting in Alaska, the Chinese envoy said: “The United States does not have the qualification to say that it wants to speak to China from a position of strength” according to the New York Times.

The disparity is more than one of mere perception that can be fixed by good coverage in the press and social media. Great Power attitudes are not driven by articles in the NYT and the Wapo but by cold-eyed projections of their rival’s capability. America’s foes have extrapolated the Biden-Harris trend of open borders, high taxes, patronage giveaways and unlimited government spending and concluded they can take the ruin that remains. They may be mistaken but that is apparently their judgment.

Mm-K. So international relations isn’t the Biden crime family’s strong suit. How’s it going domestically? Let’s start with “immigration.” It seems Resident Biden is allowing illegal aliens to invade our soil without restraint, including a record number of children.

The number of migrants at the U.S. southern border spiked to 171,000 in March after 100,000 were apprehended in February. More concerning, a record number of unaccompanied children arrived at the border, overwhelming authorities who can’t handle the influx as it is. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says that 18,800 children were taken into custody in March. The highest number of migrant children showing up at the border unaccompanied during the 2019 border crisis was 11,861. March’s apprehensions of children were an all-time record.

And guess how they’re getting here. Did you see this one?

Here’s how enemy of The People The Washington Post headlined the story:

Screen capture via washingtonpost.com

I wish I could access the whole article, but I refuse to financially support this deranged Democrat front group, which is killing “Democracy” in broad daylight. I’m sure it would be enlightening, though, because they’d have to explain how two grown men dropping two toddlers over the wall are a “reminder” of the “dangers” “migrants” face.

Do they mean the dangers the two human traffickers face? Apart from one maybe losing his balance, it didn’t look like they were in too much trouble. I mean, I suppose he could’ve twisted an ankle jumping down off the top of the wall. But, no, after dropping the kids like sacks of potatoes, they literally ran back into Mexico.

Or do they mean the dangers small children face, like being abandoned by their parents, dropped over a wall by two coyotes, and left to fend for themselves against the real, fur-coated coyotes? Or maybe they mean the wall itself being a “danger” to illegals wanting to illegally enter the United States because they’re “forced” to do inhumane $#!+ like that?

I’m old enough to remember when we elected a president who eliminated the incentives for illegals to cross the border illegally. But at least there’s no more mean tweets with the new guy, right? Only 3- and 5-year-old girls being tossed over a wall without any adult or civilization nearby. Truly, the people who would do that to little kids are exactly the kind I want flooding into my country.

Well, maybe let’s get closer to home with a look at sports. Baseball enthusiast Joseph Robinette Biden enthusiastically supports Major League Baseball moving this year’s All-Star Game out of Georgia because “racism.”

“This is Jim Crow on steroids, what they’re doing in Georgia and 40 other states.” — Resident Joe Biden

You know it’s a sham when they accuse conservatives and Republicans (I do not repeat myself) of racism for drafting an election integrity law. Caving to the woke mob and further shredding “American’s favorite pastime,” MLB commissar Robert D. Manfred, Jr. said, “I have decided that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year’s All-Star Game and MLB Draft.”

“Major League Baseball fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions to the ballot box,” Manfred said. “In 2020, MLB became the first professional sports league to join the non-partisan Civic Alliance to help build a future in which everyone participates in shaping the United States. We proudly used our platform to encourage baseball fans and communities throughout our country to perform their civic duty and actively participate in the voting process. Fair access to voting continues to have our game’s unwavering support.”

Weird. The new legislation doesn’t restrict anyone’s access to the ballot box, unless you talking about unverified voters being “restricted.” Nor does it undermine “voting rights for all Americans.” The ankle biters are teed off that the new law requires voters to show an ID. But the Left and MLB (apparently one and the same now) claim this somehow disenfranchises black voters—which studies prove doesn’t happen. Probably those same black voters who have to show an ID when they pick up their ballgame tickets from Will Call.

Finally, a Capitol Hill Police Officer was killed after alleged jihadist Noah Green intentionally rammed his car into officers, jumped out with a knife, and was shot dead. The progressive twitterati immediately assumed it was a white Trump supporter with a gun.

But nope—Green was black and a follower of the ‘Nation of Islam’ and its leader, Louis Farrakhan. He had “recently posted on his Facebook account, which has now been taken down by the social media network, that he had been unemployed and facing fear, hunger, and loss of wealth. The messages were captured by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist media and tracks online activity.”

If it had been a white male Trump supporter with a knife, we’d be back to total Capitol lockdown with Nancy Pelosi swaying before the media, Chuck Schumer looking over his glasses and down his nose at us and John Brennan fantasizing about how Normals were just like “the insurgency movements that we’ve seen overseas.”

Meanwhile, Muslims with “mental problems” are shooting up grocery stores and attacking the Capitol but the media is like, “Hey, Georgia is raaaaaaasist!”

Not going so well, is it Joe? I’d give your illegal “administration” a big, fat F for its massive failures so far.

Here’s the real deal, fellow Americans. We’re being sold out by a cadre of evil anti-Americans who are only interested in maintaining and keeping power so that they are eaten last. They only way out of this mess is for every red-blooded American patriot in every locale to start resisting and protesting and ousting the woke folk who are in power in their villages, towns, cities, counties and states.

Unless you’re waiting for the Second Coming of Christ, don’t expect some other “savior” to lead the way out. It’s going to have to be every man and woman who loves this country getting involved. Do it now—for yourselves and for your children and for your children’s children.
