It’s Thursday and the last day of September 2021. What does it mean when you dream of waterskiing across a desert of wood?

Does it or does it not feel like the wheels have come off not only here in the U.S., but increasingly, around the world? It’s like the whole world has gone mad all at once, while we deplorables (aka. normal citizens) look around in disbelief while searching for remote hideouts we can run to when the jackbooted thugs are given permission to ignore our laws and our rights.

Speaking of jackbooted thugs, have you seen what’s going on in Australia, the former British penal colony? The continent is now one big police state. Here’s a video of three police officers questioning a homeowner about his knowledge of any protests he’s been to or any he knows are being planned.

For “safety” you know.

Let’s get to the good stuff. Here are some officers arresting two elderly people, while one of the officers snatches one of the women’s phones while she’s videoing their conversation about being placed under arrest.

What are the police enforcing? Oh, right … the loss of your freedom. The unvaccinated in Australia’s NSW will lose their freedoms on October 11.

Unvaccinated NSW [New South Wales] residents have been delivered a major blow, with officials confirming those in regional areas who haven’t received the vaccine will have some of their new-found freedoms reversed within weeks.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the 70 per cent roadmap, which is due to kick in on October 11, will apply to the whole state.

This means unvaccinated people living in areas that aren’t currently in lockdown will no longer be able to enjoy the same freedoms they have in recent weeks.

“So there will be individuals in regional and rural NSW who choose not to be vaccinated who will lose their freedoms on October 11,” Mr Barilaro.

“So my message to everybody in regional and rural NSW is to continue to get vaccinated. We are seeing vaccination rates climb right across the state including in the regions.”

Then there’s this: Australia’s Chief Health Officer tells Aussies they’re never going back to normal. I wonder if Australians regret giving up their guns and gun rights back in 1996 under the national firearms agreement (NFA)?

Semi-automatic rifles and shotguns were prohibited, with a few exceptions, all firearms were required to be registered, a proof of reason would be required for all gun-licence applicants and gun purchases, with self-defence not considered a reason [or protecting yourself from government overreach. dLo]. Licenses would be reviewed, and ammunition sales were to be restricted to those licensed for the specific firearm. A national integrated registry was to be formed.

Notably, the reforms included a buyback of semi-automatic weapons and guns from owners no longer qualified to possess them. About 650,000 guns were destroyed, as part of the reforms that cost $500m.

My emphasis. That agreement came in the wake of a massacre of 35 people, the worst in Australia’s history. Gun deaths dropped in the years that followed, “from 516 in 1996 to 229 in 2019″— a reduction of 287 deaths in 13 years.

Not to minimize any life lost whatsoever, but they took your guns over 516 gun deaths? Out of a population of 25.3 million? At what cost?

Looks like personal freedoms to me. Australia is run by a parliamentary government, similar to the UK. They claim to have a system of checks and balances. So does the United States.

Happy Wednesday, my friends. Don’t ever mistake the anti-fungal spray for the eyeglasses cleaner.

I came across a letter, by someone calling himself “Spartacus,” in which he details the nature of the Peking Lung Pox. While being an anonymous writer, it’s clear that the author has very strong knowledge of viruses and how they work.

I’m linking you to it and will share a couple of the more interesting claims the author makes. Keep in mind that I cannot verify the author’s credibility; I can only say that he obviously has more working knowledge of viruses than the average man on the street — and what he writes all sounds plausible.

To start, here is the author’s own summary of he lengthy letter, with my emphases in bold.

  • COVID-19 is a blood and blood vessel disease. SARS-CoV-2 infects the lining of human blood vessels, causing them to leak into the lungs.
  • Current treatment protocols (e.g. invasive ventilation) are actively harmful to patients, accelerating oxidative stress and causing severe VILI (ventilator-induced lung injuries). The continued use of ventilators in the absence of any proven medical benefit constitutes mass murder.
  • Existing countermeasures are inadequate to slow the spread of what is an aerosolized and potentially wastewater-borne virus, and constitute a form of medical theater.
  • Various non-vaccine interventions have been suppressed by both the media and the medical establishment in favor of vaccines and expensive patented drugs.
  • The authorities have denied the usefulness of natural immunity against COVID-19, despite the fact that natural immunity confers protection against all of the virus’s proteins, and not just one.
  • Vaccines will do more harm than good. The antigen that these vaccines are based on, SARS-CoV- 2 Spike, is a toxic protein. SARS-CoV-2 may have ADE, or antibody-dependent enhancement; current antibodies may not neutralize future strains, but instead help them infect immune cells. Also, vaccinating during a pandemic with a leaky vaccine removes the evolutionary pressure for a virus to become less lethal.
  • There is a vast and appalling criminal conspiracy that directly links both Anthony Fauci and Moderna to the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
  • COVID-19 vaccine researchers are directly linked to scientists involved in brain-computer interface (“neural lace”) tech, one of whom was indicted for taking grant money from China.
  • Independent researchers have discovered mysterious nanoparticles inside the vaccines that are not supposed to be present.
  • The entire pandemic is being used as an excuse for a vast political and economic transformation of Western society that will enrich the already rich and turn the rest of us into serfs and untouchables.

I have a slight hesitation in sharing this, especially since the author moves from medical knowledge to a political statement in his last bullet. However, just because he understands the pandemic doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand what is going on politically. Heck, I can see what’s going on and I’m an amateur polemicist.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, here are a few excerpts from his missive (again, with my emphasis):

COVID-19 is not a viral pneumonia. It is a viral vascular endotheliitis and attacks the lining of blood vessels, particularly the small pulmonary alveolar capillaries, leading to endothelial cell activation and sloughing, coagulopathy, sepsis, pulmonary edema, and ARDS-like symptoms. This is a disease of the blood and blood vessels. The circulatory system. Any pneumonia that it causes is secondary to that.

Most of us think that COVID-19 is like a really bad cold, but the science says otherwise. It’s a blood disease, like Leukemia.

When you intubate someone with this condition, you are setting off a free radical bomb by supplying the cells with O2. It’s a catch-22, because we need oxygen to make Adenosine Triphosphate (that is, to live), but O2 is also the precursor of all these damaging radicals that lead to lipid peroxidation.

This is why we hear so much about all of the unintended (but are they?) side-effects of the vaccine, such as miscarriages, strokes, blood clots and paralysis.

Here’s what he said about Ivermectin:

India went against the instructions of the WHO and mandated the prophylactic usage of Ivermectin. They have almost completely eradicated COVID-19. The Indian Bar Association of Mumbai has brought criminal charges against WHO Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan for recommending against the use of Ivermectin.

Ivermectin is not “horse dewormer”. Yes, it is sold in veterinary paste form as a dewormer for animals. It has also been available in pill form for humans for decades, as an antiparasitic drug.

The media have disingenuously claimed that because Ivermectin is an antiparasitic drug, it has no utility as an antivirus. This is incorrect. Ivermectin has utility as an antiviral. It blocks importin, preventing nuclear import, effectively inhibiting viral access to cell nuclei. Many drugs currently on the market have multiple modes of action. Ivermectin is one such drug. It is both antiparasitic and antiviral.

In Bangladesh, Ivermectin costs $1.80 for an entire 5-day course. Remdesivir, which is toxic to the liver, costs $3,120 for a 5-day course of the drug. Billions of dollars of utterly useless Remdesivir were sold to our governments on the taxpayer’s dime, and it ended up being totally useless for treating hyperinflammatory COVID-19. The media has hardly even covered this at all.

The opposition to the use of generic Ivermectin is not based in science. It is purely financially and politically-motivated. An effective non-vaccine intervention would jeopardize the rushed FDA approval of patented vaccines and medicines for which the pharmaceutical industry stands to rake in billions upon billions of dollars in sales on an ongoing basis.

About “social distancing” and other myths:

COVID-19 is airborne. The WHO carried water for China by claiming that the virus was only droplet- borne. Our own CDC absurdly claimed that it was mostly transmitted by fomite-to-face contact, which, given its rapid spread from Wuhan to the rest of the world, would have been physically impossible.

The ridiculous belief in fomite-to-face being a primary mode of transmission led to the use of surface disinfection protocols that wasted time, energy, productivity, and disinfectant.

The 6-foot guidelines are absolutely useless. The minimum safe distance to protect oneself from an aerosolized virus is to be 15+ feet away from an infected person, no closer. Realistically, no public transit is safe.

Surgical masks do not protect you from aerosols. The virus is too small and the filter media has too large of gaps to filter it out. They may catch respiratory droplets and keep the virus from being expelled by someone who is sick, but they do not filter a cloud of infectious aerosols if someone were to walk into said cloud.

About the vaccines:

The vaccines for COVID-19 are not sterilizing and do not prevent infection or transmission. They are “leaky” vaccines. This means they remove the evolutionary pressure on the virus to become less lethal. It also means that the vaccinated are perfect carriers. In other words, those who are vaccinated are a threat to the unvaccinated, not the other way around.

And about Fauci, all we need to know:

The vaccine and the virus were made by the same people.

I encourage you to read the whole thing, which has “the ring of truth” about it. I can’t vouch for whether everything he wrote is accurate, but as I say, it sounds logical, intelligent and free of the virtue-signaling we’re used to.

I wish I had encouraging news to share most mornings but, alas, the Biden junta and his junior commies are in control of the levers of power. That means that we’re on a fast track to a morally corrupt and bankrupt system that doesn’t give a $#!+ about our Constitution, the laws that supposedly govern our nation, or We the People. What matters to them is virtue signaling nebulous terms like fairness, diversity and systemic racism, while enriching and keeping themselves in power.

The Great Population Displacement continues apace as our completely objective, unbiased Cuba-born Homeland Security secretary, Señor Alejandro Mayorkas, explained matter-of-factly that 12,000 of the more than 30,000 Haitians who have crossed into Del Rio, Texas, since September 9 have been released into the interior of the United States.

“Approximately, I think it’s about 10,000 or so, 12,000,” Mayorkas told “Fox News Sunday” when asked how many have already been released. He then acknowledged that this number could very well go up as the 5,000 other cases are processed.

“It could be even higher. The number that are returned could be even higher. What we do is we follow the law as Congress has passed it,” Mayorkas said.

He’s a liar. He straight up lies to the American people when he says, “we follow the law as Congress has passed it.” Oh, sure, maybe they “follow the law” after the foreigners are in the country—maybe!—but there is no law that says it’s legal for foreigners to simply jump the border because they want to come into the United States.

Congress has addressed our border with “robust immigration laws” (bold emphasis mine):

People may no longer realize that America has robust immigration laws.  You can find them at 8 USC §1151 et seq.  These laws govern all aspects of admitting non-citizens and non-legal residents into the United States.

The laws are predicated on the idea that America has a border and that it has the right to control that border. Congress addressed not being a public charge, working illegally in the country, bringing in dangerous communicable disease, being mentally ill, and being a dangerous criminal or a drug-runner, and required visas, sponsors, and entering through appropriate checkpoints rather than sneaking in. Stuff like that.

Señor Mayorkas is not following the law “as Congress has passed it.” He’s allowing nearly a million people to jump the border this year rather than “entering through appropriate checkpoints.” Worse, Resident Biden is not only complicit in flouting those laws, he’s the lead offender.

One of the first things Joe Biden did upon entering the Oval Office was sign executive orders that either make it harder for government employees to enforce these laws or require them not to enforce them at all. Thus, he stopped work on a wall that had as its sole purpose preventing illegal aliens from bypassing legal border checkpoints. That is, he made it easier for illegal aliens to sneak in.

He also ordered the “restoration” the U.S. asylum system as it existed before Trump. Trump’s approach complied with the law by requiring people seeking asylum to wait in Latin America until they could formally enter America and make their case. Biden’s reinstated Obama approach allows entry to everyone who claims asylum, assigns all of these people court dates, and then shuttles them into America’s interior, where the administration knows they’ll disappear. This isn’t a legal system; it’s aiding and abetting a federal crime.

Biden is also rolling back the “public charge rule,” along with other barriers to immigration. We all know that executives have power over “rules,” except the whole public charge thing isn’t just a “rule.” It implements 8 USC §1182(a)(4), in which Congress explicitly stated that an alien is inadmissible if “at the time of application for admission … [he] is likely at any time to become a public charge.” Again, Biden is ordering government employees to aid and abet a federal crime.

Along with the lawlessness that has created a crisis on the border, the Resident turns around and denounces the very people who are tasked with enforcing the laws (again, my emphasis):

Last week, the entire Democrat-media complex falsely accused Border Patrol agents of whipping Haitian illegal immigrants who were attempting to cross the Rio Grande River into Del Rio, Texas.

These claims were quickly debunked by Border Patrol officials and the photographer who took the pictures. The agents on horseback were using long reins to control their horses,  twirling them to move their horses forward, not to whip migrants.

Photographer Paul Ratje said he and his colleagues never saw them whipping anyone, but nonetheless, activists and elected Democrats—including Joe Biden—eagerly fueled the racially charged lie to deflect blame for border crisis.

“To see people treated like they did, horses barely running over, people being strapped – it’s outrageous,” Biden said, making a whipping motion with his arm. “I promise you, those people will pay. There will be an investigation underway now and there will be consequences. There will be consequences,” he said on Friday.

It’s maddening. The entire house of cards is crashing and it’s the people entrusted with keeping the house standing who are destroying it.

Why do our federal employees get away with their lawlessness? It’s because they’re a cabal of law-breakers who have each other’s backs. We can’t impeach Biden for his incompetence and willful disregard of the U.S. Constitution because he’s protected by the likes of Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and John Roberts.

There is nowhere to turn.

Daily Broadside | Is “Love Your Neighbor” or “Slay the Idolaters” More Radical?

Happy Monday, my friends! And to you, stalkers, lurkers, and prowlers. I now see that vitreous humor isn’t funny.

On Friday I wrote about three Muslims who were relocated to the United States who have either recently acted, or planned to act, violently against other people in this country. The mainstream media tends to ignore stories of Muslim violence and it would be easy to dismiss the examples I gave you as aberrations — exceptions to the norm, the ‘norm’ being that the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful.

That’s factually true. Estimates of how many Muslims live in the United States vary, sometimes wildly, but credible estimates seem to be in the range of Pew Research’s 3.85 million (1.1% of the US population) in 2020 to Gordon Conwell’s 4.4 million Muslims (1.4% of the US population) in 2015 and “projected to more than double to 10 million by 2050 (2.6% of the US population).”

Obviously, the vast majority of Muslims are peaceable people.

However, there are a couple of things we need to keep in mind. The first is that apologists seeking to defend Islam from the reputation that the radical jihadists create will often cite instances where even Christians have acted violently (for instance, the medieval Crusades or an individual claiming to be a Christian says they were told by God to murder someone). By doing so, the apologist tries to position Islam as morally equivalent to Christianity, no more or less violent than another world religion. “All religions have their radicals,” they argue, “and Islam is no different.”

The problem with this argument is that while both Christians and Muslims may have their “radicals,” what motivates them is completely different. When a Christian murders another person, they are acting contrary to the central tenets of their faith. “Do not murder,” one of the Ten Commandments, comes to mind. Jesus telling his disciples, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35).

Then there’s Paul’s declaration in Romans 13:9.

The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

On the other hand, when a Muslim murders another person, they are acting consistently with the central tenets of their faith. Take, for instance, Sura 9:5, commonly referred to as the “Verse of the Sword”:

9:5. When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. If they repent and take to prayer and render the alms levy, allow them to go their way. God is forgiving and merciful.

Osama bin Laden began his “Letter to America” with verses that gave him and other jihadists permission to fight unbelievers.

“Permission to fight (against disbelievers) is given to those (believers) who are fought against, because they have been wronged and surely, Allah is Able to give them (believers) victory” [Quran 22:39]

“Those who believe, fight in the Cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Taghut (anything worshipped other than Allah e.g. Satan). So fight you against the friends of Satan; ever feeble is indeed the plot of Satan.”[Quran 4:76]

See the difference? When a “radical” jihadist commits a killing in the name of Allah, it is not someone who has taken a verse out of context and somehow perverted the Koran. They have in fact followed precisely the commands of their holy scriptures.

If Christians were to follow precisely the commands of their Holy Scriptures, we’d see a radical shift in our culture.

The second thing to keep in mind is that while the majority of Muslims are peaceful — either being ignorant of or flatly ignoring these deadly verses — the peaceful majority are irrelevant. It’s the radicals, the extremists who drive the agenda. Brigitte Gabriel founded ACT for America, the largest national security grassroots organization in the U.S. and often speaks on politics, culture, and national security. Here, she participates in a panel discussion on what happened in Benghazi, but addresses a question from a Muslim law student and explains why the peaceful majority doesn’t matter.

So while the majority of Muslims are peaceful, it’s not them who we are immediately concerned about. We’re more concerned about the Muslims here in the U.S. who are willing to act on their Koranic beliefs, like the Muslim passenger who tried to crash the cockpit of a JetBlue flight last Wednesday or the Muslim in LA who tried to run down a crowd of Jews — again, last Wednesday.

If, as Brigitte Gabriel suggests, 15-25% of the Muslim population is radicalized — meaning that they take seriously the passages from the Koran telling them to fight the unbelievers — then in the U.S., that’s between 577,500 and 962,500 radical jihadists on our soil.

To give you a sense of scale, the size of the United States’ combined military is 1.358 million. Compare that to the higher number of “radical” Muslims, nearly one million people. That doesn’t mean that there are that many radicalized Muslims among us, only that statistically, there could be.

If that’s even close to accurate, however, that means that we will continue to hear stories like those linked above, and that the number of those stories will grow.

But don’t worry. Diversity is our strength and I’m sure it will all work out.

Happy Friday, Broadsiders! Some of you have an unhealthy preoccupation with potato salad.

If you’re wondering why America is no longer looking like America, you have to search no further than the 1965 Immigration Reform Act. Sponsored and pushed through the Senate by uber-liberal Ted Kennedy, the immigration act “snuffed out the generous quotas for immigrants from the countries that had traditionally populated America—England, Ireland, and Germany—and added ‘family reunification’ policies, allowing recent immigrants to bring in their relatives, and those relatives to bring in their relatives, until entire Somali villages have relocated to Minneapolis and Muslim cabdrivers are refusing to transport passengers with dogs or alcohol.”

These days, leveling any criticism against the immigrants coming into our country is verboten, especially by middle-aged white men. It doesn’t matter that up until 56 years ago, the majority of immigrants were white Europeans who came from similar cultures and that the “browning” of America was a deliberate government policy to bring in new Democrat voters who would be dependent on the government.

Thus, unskilled third-world peasants are favored immigrants. That’s why we have more than 30 million Mexicans and other Latin American immigrants here illegally, with hundreds of thousands more arriving over the southern border and released across the United States by the illegitimate junta in Washington, D.C.

None of the oligarchy in D.C. care about what these immigrants from third-world nations are doing to our national culture or what the downstream effect might be on natural-born citizens. Nowhere is this clearer than in the thousands of Muslims we’ve imported from across the Middle East and Africa and, most recently, Afghanistan.

We’ve resettled some 60,000 Afghans to the territorial United States. If you think that those refugees have been vetted, you’d be 84 percent wrong. Here’s what Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said:

Of the over 60,000 individuals who have been brought into the United States—and I will give you approximate figures and I will verify them, approximately 7 percent have been United States citizens. Approximately 6 percent have been lawful permanent residents. Approximately 3 percent have been individuals who are in receipt of the special immigrant visas. The balance of that population are individuals whose applications have not yet been processed for approval who may qualify as SIVs and have not yet applied, who qualify or would qualify—I should say—as P-1 or P-2 refugees who have been employed by the united states government in Afghanistan and are otherwise vulnerable afghan nationals, such as journalists, human rights advocates, et cetera.

In other words, more than 50,000 of those refugees are now on American soil and have not been vetted. Why is this important? There’s this:

They didn’t leave Afghanistan very long ago, and so it is understandable that Bahrullah Noori and Mohammad Haroon Imaad, two Afghan evacuees at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, would behave as if they were still there. The Justice Department announced Wednesday that a federal grand jury in Wisconsin charged Noori with “attempting to engage in a sexual act with a minor using force against that person, and with three counts of engaging in a sexual act with a minor, with one count alleging the use of force.” Imaad was charged with “assaulting his spouse by strangling and suffocating her.” The alleged crimes took place at Fort McCoy, where Noori and Imaad have been staying in anticipation of being placed in some lucky American neighborhood. The Justice Department said nothing about how both men were just following religious and cultural norms that other Afghan refugees are likely to follow as well, or about the implications of that fact for the entire Afghan refugee resettlement project.

And there’s this:

There is another reason why both the administration and the media would rather have this story go away, amid the chaos at the Southern border and just after the catastrophe in Afghanistan: Alowemer, 23, came to the United States from Syria as a refugee when he was 18. Yet he doesn’t exactly fit the image of a grateful refugee, eager to become a part of our glorious multicultural mosaic. He told investigators, according to the criminal complaint against him, that “his motivation to detonate a device at the Church was to support the cause of ISIS and to inspire other ISIS sympathizers in the United States to join together and commit similar acts in the name of ISIS.” He added that he “also targeted the Church, which he described as Christian and Nigerian, in order to ‘take revenge for our [ISIS] brothers in Nigeria.’” Christians are suffering fierce persecution from Muslims in Nigeria, but as far as Alowemer was concerned, this meant only that they were infidels at war with Allah, and he thirsted for revenge.

So we have three Afghan Muslim [updated 9/26] refugees who have brought they’re values here to the United States. Exceptions? Maybe, but I wouldn’t place any money on it. The elite oligarchy hates us normal Americans and could give a rip about what some unrefined immigrant might unleash on Christian churches or on an unsuspecting teenage girl.

Diversity and inclusion are our strength!

There are tens of millions foreigners here illegally in the United States and our lawless Resident and his staff of junior commies are bringing in tens of thousands more every month. They aren’t vetted; they’re just given a date at which to show up to court and then released into the interior of the United States until their court date, for which only a small fraction of immigrants show up.

The Left gets to celebrate the invasion of our country and the destruction of our unique American culture, while the Right is shamed as racist for questioning the policies. We’re not allowed to say, “Why is so much immigration a good thing? What’s wrong with ‘white’ American culture? I LIKE American culture,”—or we’re called racist and xenophobic.

Nevertheless, those are questions we should be asking and demanding answers for.

Greetings my friends, and happy Thursday. What’s another word for thesaurus?

In yesterday’s commentary I wrote about Angelo Codevilla, noting that he had died a few days ago and the blogosphere in which I travel was full of tributes to one of our “foremost public intellectuals.” (Here’s another by Michael Walsh and another by Julie Ponzi with his final article for American Greatness.)

One Codevilla quote from yesterday’s post stands out in particular, in which he unapologetically declares that “the United States of America is now a classic oligarchy.” America’s economic, cultural, and political establishment holds power over its citizens, rather than the citizens holding power over those establishments.

It occurred to me that the power being wielded by this group has given rise to the current feature of our political establishment: we have no functional president.

I’m not referring to what many believe was a stolen election in 2020 (including me). Joseph Robinette Biden is the White House’s current resident. But no one who’s paying any attention to what’s happening can seriously think that Biden is running the show.

He has the title, he has the trappings, and he represents our country on the world stage as America’s “president.” But that’s about it; he’s a symbol, a stand-in, a placeholder. He’s the folded napkin under the table leg to keep it from rocking. He has no moral authority, no history of success, no original ideas.

Worst of all, he is literally losing his mind. He can’t string together a sentence without slurring his words like a drunk. Did you see his horrible performance at the United Nations, trying to read a script prepared for him by his enablers?

And there there’s this: the White House staff interrupt UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson as they shout down reporters and shoo them out of the Oval Office.

Biden did not recognize any American reporters for questions during an Oval Office meeting with Johnson – and his aides cleared out journalists as they tried to query the president.

It’s a bizarre moment, but consistent with Biden often claiming, “they told me” he shouldn’t take questions, but then offers to take questions, leading the press and at least half of America asking, “Who the heck is running the country?!”

We have to assume that Biden is simply given his marching orders, delivers precisely what is necessary, then walks off into the protective arms of his aides and staffers.

The much, much more important question is, who are the junior commies who are putting words in Joe’s mouth? Who is the man behind the curtain that we should not see?

Imagine that there is no president and that policies, laws, guidance, international relations and more are being crafted by a group of unaccountable appointees representing the ruling class’s interests, and you wouldn’t be far off from the truth of the situation.

We don’t have a president—we have a pretender in office. And that realization should trouble us all.

Daily Broadside | A Counter-Resistance Must Come to the Masses

Welcome to Wednesday, friends. Now that striped pants are back in fashion, I’ll have to fight my dog to get mine back.

I hadn’t read much of Angelo Codevilla’s work, but did recognize his name when it was announced that he’d died at age 78 after being hit by a car a couple of days ago. Several opinion writers and bloggers shared their sadness over his death and their estimate of him as a ‘great and good’ man. Many of them also linked to influential articles that he’d written, proclaiming that,

It is hard to overstate the importance and brilliance of Angelo. If you only knew him by his many books and columns (including this 2015 piece he wrote for Power Line on Trump’s significance and prospects), it would be sufficient to establish his greatness. But he was also at the storm center of key aspects of American intelligence and foreign policy going back more than 40 years.

The sense of significant loss piqued my curiosity, and I clicked through several of his articles. One of them, “Clarity in Trump’s Wake” struck such a chord with me, that I want to encourage you to read the entire thing. It’s a long treatise on what he says is now “a classic oligarchy” that rules America and how that oligarchy came to be.

The reason the article resonates with me so powerfully is that he shades with clarity the contours of our current predicament that we all know is there, but can’t precisely put our fingers on. Here is how he starts:

Texas v. Pennsylvania et al. did not deny setting rules for the 2020 election contrary to the Constitution. On December 10, 2020, the Supreme Court discounted that. By refusing to interfere as America’s ruling oligarchy serves itself, the court archived what remained of the American republic’s system of equal justice. That much is clear.

In 2021, the laws, customs, and habits of the heart that had defined the American republic since the 18th century are things of the past. Americans’ movements and interactions are under strictures for which no one ever voted. Government disarticulated society by penalizing ordinary social intercourse and precluding the rise of spontaneous opinion therefrom. Together with corporate America, it smothers minds through the mass and social media with relentless, pervasive, identical, and ever-evolving directives. In that way, these oligarchs have proclaimed themselves the arbiters of truth, entitled and obliged to censor whoever disagrees with them as systemically racist, adepts of conspiracy theories.

Corporations, and the government itself, require employees to attend meetings personally to acknowledge their guilt. They solicit mutual accusations. While violent felons are released from prison, anyone may be fired or otherwise have his life wrecked for questioning government/corporate sentiment. Today’s rulers don’t try to convince. They demand obedience, and they punish.

Russians and East Germans under Communists Leonid Brezhnev and Erich Honecker in the 1970s lived under less ruling class pressure than do today’s Americans. And their rulers were smart enough not to insult them, their country, or their race.

In 2015, Americans could still believe they lived in a republic, in which life’s rules flow from the people through their representatives. In 2021, a class of rulers draws their right to rule from self-declared experts’ claims of infallibility that dwarf baroque kings’ pretensions.

In that self-referential sense, the United States of America is now a classic oligarchy.

The following explains how this change happened. The clarity that it has brought to our predicament is its only virtue.

Oligarchy had long been growing within America’s republican forms. The 2016 election posed the choice of whether its rise should consolidate, or not. Consolidation was very much “in the cards.” But how that election and its aftermath led to the fast, thorough, revolution of American life depended on how Donald Trump acted as the catalyst who clarified, energized, and empowered our burgeoning oligarchy’s peculiarities.

After explaining how the amalgamation of politics and corporations had slowly built the oligarchy, Codevilla explains the significance of Donald J. Trump.

By 2015, the right side of America’s challenge to the budding oligarchy was inevitable. Trump was not inevitable. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) had begun posing a thorough challenge to the “stakeholders” most Americans disrespected. Candidate Trump was the more gripping showman. His popularity came from his willingness to disrespect them, loudly. Because the other 16 Republican candidates ran on different bases, none ever had a chance. Inevitably, victory in a field so crowded depended on when which minor candidate did or did not withdraw. There never was a head-to-head choice between Trump and Cruz.

Trump’s candidacy drew the ferocious opposition it did primarily because the entire ruling class recognized that, unlike McCain in 2008 and Romney in 2012, he really was mobilizing millions of Americans against the arrangements by which the ruling class live, move, and have their being. Since Cruz’s candidacy represented the same threat, it almost certainly would have drawn no less intense self-righteous anger. Nasty narratives could have been made up about him out of whole cloth as easily as about Trump.

But Trump’s actual peculiarities made it possible for the oligarchy to give the impression that its campaign was about his person, his public flouting of conventional norms, rather than about the preservation of their own power and wealth. The principal consequence of the ruling class’ opposition to candidate Trump was to convince itself, and then its followers, that defeating him was so important that it legitimized, indeed dictated, setting aside all laws, and truth itself.

He then goes on to explain how the Peking Lung Pox gave the oligarchy the vehicle they needed to increase their power over the average citizen and eventually leveraged it into gaming the 2020 presidential election.

Only in a few one-party Democratic states was universal vote-by-mail established by law. Elsewhere, especially in the states sure to be battlegrounds in the presidential election, mail-in voting was introduced by various kinds of executive or judicial actions. Questions of right and wrong aside, the Constitution’s Article II section 1’s words—“Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct”—makes such actions unconstitutional on their face. Moreover, in these states—Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin—the counting of votes in the most populous counties is firmly in the hands of Democratic Party bosses with a well-documented history of fraud.

To no one’s surprise, the 2020 presidential election was decided by super-majorities for the Democratic candidate precisely from these counties in these states. Yes, Trump’s percentage of the vote fell in certain suburbs. But Trump received some 11 million more votes in 2020 than four years earlier, and nearly doubled the share of votes he received from blacks. The Democrats’ gain of some 15 million votes came exclusively from mail-in ballots, and their victory in the Electoral College came exclusively from the supermajorities piled up in these corrupt counties—the only places where Trump’s share of the black vote was cut by three-quarters. Did people there really think so differently?

And then this:

The Democratic Party had promised a return to some kind of “normalcy.” Instead, its victory enabled the oligarchy’s several parts to redefine the people who do not show them due deference as “white supremacists,” “insurrectionists,” and Nazis—in short, as some kind of criminals—to exclude them from common platforms of communication, from the banking system, and perhaps even from air travel; and to set law enforcement to surveil them in order to find bases for prosecuting them. Neither Congress nor any state’s legislature legislated any of this. Rather, the several parts of America’s economic, cultural, and political establishment are waging this war, uncoordinated but well-nigh unanimously.

Perhaps most important, they do so without thought of how a war against at least some 74 million fellow citizens might end. The people in the oligarchy’s corporate components seem to want only to adorn unchallenged power with a reputation for “wokeness.” For them, causing pain to their opponents is a pleasure incidental to enjoying power’s perquisites. The Biden family’s self-enrichment by renting access to influence is this oligarchy’s standard.

As I said, it’s a long but powerful article. I’ve given you a taste of small portions of it to whet your appetite for the whole thing. It confirms your worst fears about what has happened in America — we are no longer a constitutional republic but in name only. We are being ruled by a cabal of elites in business, science, the courts, social media, entertainment and, of course, politics.

According to Codevilla, the central hope of overthrowing the ruling elite is this:

Increasingly, conservative Americans live as if under occupation by a hostile power. Whoever would lead them should emulate Charles de Gaulle’s 1941 basic rule for la résistance: refrain from individual or spontaneous acts or expressions that produce only martyrs. But join with thousands in what amount to battles to defeat the enemy’s initiatives, weaken his grip on power, and prepare his defeat. Thus, an aspirant to the presidency in 2024, in the course of debunking the narrative by which the oligarchy seized so much power over America, might lead millions to violate restrictions placed on those who refuse to wear masks. Or, as he pursues legislative and judicial measures to abolish the compulsory racial and gender sensitivity training sessions to which public and private employees are subjected, he might organize employees in a given sector unanimously to stay away from them in protest. They can’t all be fired or held back.

My thought: we must try.

Daily Broadside | Culture Shock is Being Imposed on Us

Happy Tuesday, my Broadside friends. After inventorying my life, I’ve found that I’m low on Flintstones Chewable multivitamins.

Although the Resident and his junior commies in the White House have tried to sandbag reporters’ efforts to report on the southern border, it’s no secret that THERE IS NO SOUTHERN BORDER. You have been paying attention, haven’t you?

The shocking news out of Del Rio, Texas, is that there are now 15,000 foreigners — mostly Haitians — now illegally camped on our soil, with thousands more arriving every day, camped in a shantytown under a bridge.

Some reports say that up to 85 percent of them are Haitian. We don’t share a border with Haiti. Nor does Mexico. So where are these people coming from? How are they getting here?

The Center for Immigration Studies sent a reporter to ask the people themselves where they came from and how they got here, and the answer is shocking for what it reveals about our clueless, incompetent, irresponsible and malicious ruling class.

The surprising answer, which the migrants provided independently in different places and at different times, was universal: on Sunday, September 12, the Mexican government effectively sent a mass of migrants it had bottled up for months in its southern states up to the American border. This move, which appears to have been done under the cover of Mexico’s independence week of celebration known as El Grito, essentially foisted a humanitarian problem onto the Americans in a single week.

Even more disturbing is that once on American soil, many of these illegals will be freed to move around the U.S. unencumbered (my emphasis).

Many are now boarding yet more buses inside the camp, these ones provided by DHS to take them to Border Patrol processing stations. Some may be deported. But most likely will spend a day or two until they get temporary resident permits and a date to appear at an American immigration office in the city of their choice. Then under current Biden policies for families and unaccompanied minors, a great many will be released to travel anywhere in America, boarding yet more buses to those cities and towns.

But here’s the real kicker: most of the Haitians aren’t coming directly from Haiti. They’re coming from countries where they had already relocated and settled (my emphasis).

Based on a report from the New York Times a day or so ago, most are not actually from Haiti anymore, they are resettled refugees from countries such as Brazil, who cannot claim refugee status since being settled. They are economic migrants who are now country-shopping for better benefits packages and prospects. That’s not the same as refugees in flight, much as Julian Castro would have us think.

What are we, on the market? Did someone hang a sign on America announcing, “Vacancy”? Of course they did.

While Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says our border is closed, here’s the terrifying truth: “The surge to the Del Rio sector follows roughly 200,000 Border Patrol contacts in August. According to projections, the southern border will see as many as two million illegal crossings in 2021.”

What this amounts to is a full-scale invasion of our country. We’re not carefully and thoughtfully controlling who and how many people we allow to immigrate here. We’re not trying to preserve our unique American culture and balance our compassion for the tired, poor and huddled masses with a sense of self-preservation. Of course, such thinking is shamed as racist and xenophobic, not intelligent and consistent with a people of consequence.

I’ve said before that the Democrats support population displacement, and this is another example of it. Another example are the 95,000 unvetted Afghans that Biden administration is resettling in the U.S. over the next year — and 10 Republican governors support his plan!

Hey, with “conservatives” like these, who needs liberals?

These people are irreversibly and insanely demolishing the unique American culture we once shared as a nation by replacing born and bred American citizens with masses of third world dependents who think, probably correctly, that the U.S. government will take care of them. Not to mention the incredible financial impact and burden millions of immigrants place on our hospitals, schools and other infrastructure.

In her book, “¡Adios America!” Ann Coulter writes,

“If U.S. schools still taught U.S. history, this would not come as an exciting surprise, but America is not a nation of immigrants. it’s a nation of British and Dutch settlers. We all have a stake in preserving what they created—”we” meaning all of us, except the very rich and the Democratic Party. If America disappears—the America liberals hate and Wall Street is indifferent to—everyone will suffer” and, few paragraphs later, “Once America is gone, there won’t be anyplace left to go.”

The Democrats and quisling Republicans who collaborate with them are intentionally destroying our nation. It doesn’t matter whether you think taking in millions of poor, uneducated and unassimilated people who are ignorant of American concepts like freedom and self-reliance is noble or stupid — you can’t deny that it is transforming the character of our country and what will be lost will never be regained.

Daily Broadside | If You Refuse the Mask or the Shot, You’re Not Wanted

Happy Monday my friends. Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. But here we are on Monday — again.

Yesterday I went to a restaurant that we’ve frequented over the last 18 months and by “frequented” I mean that we’ve gone there more often than any other eating establishment, which may or may not mean “occasionally.” The last few times we’ve been there no mask has been required. This time we walked in expecting the same, but the (masked) Karen server behind the counter immediately asked us if we had masks.

“No,” I said. “Do you have any?,” knowing that some establishments would provide them for their guests.

“No,” she replied, “we don’t stock them. And there’s a sign on the door when you come in.”

I confess to seeing the “sign,” which was written in small type as part of a paragraph of small type on an 8½ x 11 sheet of paper taped to the glass door, which I didn’t fully read because we were all going in and it was an interruption and it was hot out and we were hungry and I assumed they only partly meant the word “must” and they didn’t require them before and, besides, who’s enforcing mask mandates anyway?

To be fair, the masked woman behind the counter was probably only enforcing the company policy, so I can’t really fault her, but she wasn’t particularly nice about it. My immediate reaction to her telling us that masks were required and, without saying so, implying that we would not receive service without one, was to turn around and walk out and find a place that would serve us without masks.

But my wife had a mask for me and for her and she put hers on and started her order, while our two guests retrieved theirs, so we stayed. But I was not happy about it.

As I walked to my table I grumbled about how the Beijing Bat Flu was certainly deadly as we stood and ordered but that it very obviously weakened on the way to the table and by the time I sat down it was safe to de-mask because reasons. And how stupid this whole thing is.

I got to thinking about it and, for the first time, I truly understand the observation that being required to wear a mask creates a two-tiered society, with non-maskers being “second-class citizens.” I’ve read that before in the commentariat in a variety of opinion pieces, but it really hadn’t penetrated like it did yesterday.

Many of the authors say that masks are just a first step in dehumanizing the citizenry. Think about it. What is the difference between someone without a mask not getting service and someone with a yellow star not getting service? One concerns medical purity, the other racial purity. In both cases people are classified negatively.

While it’s true that one is contagious and the other isn’t, they both result in the same thing: ostracization from society.

In both situations, the ruling authorities mandate the conditions: not complying with masking denies you service today, wearing a star denied you service then. While we are all ostensibly free to choose whether or not to wear the mask and the Jews were not free to reject wearing the star, the result is the same: complying with the star or not complying with the mask results in a denial of service.

Not wearing a mask and wearing a star both telegraph a negative association to the rest of society. And while non-maskers and those refusing to get the vaccine are not being shipped off to concentration camps (yet), they are subjected to tyrannical language and treatment from those who decree the conditions and their supporters in government and business.

The Resident pointedly blamed one-third of Americans for the rise in the Delta variant.

“We’ve been patient. But our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us,” he said, all but biting off his words. The unvaccinated minority “can cause a lot of damage, and they are.”

After months of using promotions to drive the vaccination rate, Biden is taking a much firmer hand, as he blames people who have not yet received shots for the sharp rise in cases killing more than 1,000 people per day and imperiling a fragile economic rebound.

Shock jock and noted medical expert Howard Stern used similarly strong language about the unvaccinated.

Radio host Howard Stern said people who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19 are “idiots” and called for vaccinations to be mandatory.

“When are we gonna stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say it’s mandatory to get vaccinated? F— ’em. F— their freedom. I want my freedom to live,” Stern said on his SiriusXM program on Tuesday. “I want to get out of the house already. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures. This is bull—-.”

In another rant, he said,

“We have no time for idiots in this country anymore. We don’t want you,” Stern said. “We want you to all either go to the hospital, stay home, die there with your COVID, don’t take the cure but don’t clog up our hospitals with your COVID when you finally get it.

“Stay home, don’t bother with science, it’s too late. … We want you to go away,” he continued. “We want you to leave the country. Go somewhere where they have ultimate freedom, wherever that is, some bizarro world where you don’t have to take the vaccine. … I don’t know when nonsense became such a thing.”

Here’s Jimmy Kimmel, the very unfunny late night host.

“Dr. Fauci said that if hospitals get any more overcrowded, they’re going to have to make some very tough choices about who gets an ICU bed. That choice doesn’t seem so tough to me.

Vaccinated person having a heart attack? Yes, come right in, we’ll take care of you. Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo? Rest in peace, wheezy.”

Add one more for good measure. Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign manager, David Plouffe, called MAGA supporters a “sick, perverted one-third of the country.”

He added, “I think these governors, legislative leaders who have stood in the way of vaccinations, who belittled COVID, who don’t want masks in school — here’s the thing, we’re basically two-thirds of the country in support of mask mandates in schools. So again, they’re speaking to their sick, perverted one-third of the country, you know that gets injected by Fox News and Sinclair and Breitbart, all the stuff.”

Jews forced to wear the yellow Star of David in 1941 Nazis Germany were subject to segregation and discrimination. We can’t deny that something similar is happening. Our freedom is being restricted if we are being demonized as “idiots” and “sick and perverted,” told we’re not wanted, that our freedom is meaningless, that we should essentially f*** off and die, and we’re not allowed to conduct transactions and travel in public unless we wear a mask.

Feel the love?

Right now we have the opportunity to push back and refuse to comply with the tyrannical edicts from our rulers. But how long will that opportunity last?


Daily Broadside | “We Shall Nobly Save, or Meanly Lose, the Last Best Hope of Earth”

On the weekly merry-go-round we arrive once more at Friday. Please dismount and exit on the far side of the ride.

In yesterday’s commentary I suggested that there were some other things I think we can do to resist the collapse of the United States as we know it. Certainly prayer and the other six activities recommended by Doug Wilson are central to preparing and, perhaps, surviving the fall of “the last, best hope of earth.”

When our Founders decided to separate from Great Britain, they wrote in the Declaration of Independence a list of the grievances they had against the British crown, i.e. King George III. Here is how the declaration introduces the list.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.–Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

“A long train of abuses and usurpations” refers to the regular violation of the colonists’ rights, including taxation without representation, cutting off the colonists’ ability to trade, keeping a standing army in the colonies and not allowing fair trials. The declaration goes on to repeat the claim that “the history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States.”

I would dare say that we are now back at that stage in our current historical moment, the only difference being that the seat of “federal” government in 1776 was on the other side of the ocean. Today, it sits in Washington, D.C. and sounds an awful lot like what is described as “having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States.”

Jefferson and the drafting committee wrote up a list of 27 “Facts” they would submit “to a candid world” as proof of their complaints. Listen to some of these and tell me this isn’t déjà vu all over again.

“He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.” Laws like keeping our borders secure and allowing oil processing and coal mining to proceed uninterrupted, to name just a couple.

“He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.” Using pressure tactics or bribery or direct threats to gain compliance is as old as King George III. Anybody remember who said, “Ultimately, I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically-elected congress”?

“He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.” Internal Revenue Service, anyone? The FBI? Department of Justice? Department of Education? Do they not “harrass our people”?

“He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.” Can you say Mark Milley-Vanillie?

“For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:” Do you consent to all of the taxes the government imposes on you? In addition to income taxes, there are hidden fees, surcharges, sales taxes and service charges that add up to $657.5 billion in hidden taxes that Americans pay each year. How about the House trying to pass $3.5 TRILLION in new spending? Guess how that will be funded.

“He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.” Domestic insurrections like antifa and Burn, Loot, Murder, Inc. and the invasion of inhabitants across our borders from all manner of places that do not understand or care about freedom who will destroy “all ages, sexes and conditions.”

In order to justify not just resisting, but actively fighting back, we need to make our case before “a candid world” and nation. Not that our domestic enemies would care or even be able to comprehend the purpose of such a document. They’d see it as disobedience and fly into a rage, just like King George III. But we need to have something that gives us a framework for seeing the situation clearly and provides a common justification for any action we take.

Someone has to do it, and perhaps we can start with the short list above, tying it back to our Founding and taking Jefferson’s words to heart, “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
