Daily Broadside | Our Fake American Leader Now Has Blood On His Hands

Along with those who fortified the 2020 election, who also have blood on their hands.

Three American service members were killed early on Jan. 28 in a drone attack on a small U.S. base in Jordan, the Biden administration said in a statement. At least two dozen other troops were injured in the incident, U.S. officials said.

They were the first U.S. fatalities after months of strikes by Iranian-backed groups against American forces across the Middle East since the start of the Israel–Hamas conflict in Gaza, the White House and military officials confirmed. President Joe Biden vowed to hold the perpetrators to account; so far, no organization or government has claimed responsibility.

“Today, America’s heart is heavy,” the president said in a Jan. 28 statement. “Last night, three U.S. service members were killed—and many wounded—during an unmanned aerial drone attack on our forces stationed in northeast Jordan near the Syria border.”

U.S. officials are still working to conclusively identify the precise group responsible for the attack but have assessed that one of several Iranian-backed groups is responsible.

This loss of life is a direct result of Joe Biden’s intentional, strategic and treasonous subversion of our military fitness and his feckless priorities.

Under President Donald J. Trump, there were no new wars and our enemies understood that if they crossed us, Trump would deal severely with them. Under Brandon we abandoned Afghanistan and gave our enemies $81 billion in war machines, Russia attacked Ukraine, China has openly threatened Taiwan, North Korea has started lobbing missiles from both coasts, and Iran proxy Hamas savagely attacked Israel.

All because Trump said “pu**y.”

Well, not really. All because Trump is a viable threat to the oligarchy’s rule.

But I digress.

We’ve lost three soldiers and have 27 other casualties as a direct result of Brandon’s fake Americanism. What do you suppose our response will be? “President” Mush-for-Brains is in league with the Iranians and is allowing them to develop nuclear weapons to change the balance of power in the Middle East, something that has B. Hussein Obama’s fingerprints all over it.

President Biden’s statement accused “radical” groups backed by Iran operating in Iraq and Syria for the attacks, saying the United States “will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing,” without providing more details.

Here’s what he’ll do: he will send a couple of missiles into Iran or find a proxy somewhere to be the scapegoat. Whatever Brandon does, Iran will lose very little sleep over it and will instead use our response to gin up the radicals’ hatred with demonstrations and threats of violence.

And then, maybe, those single men of military fighting age from the Middle East who have crossed our southern border unmolested will “hold those responsible to account at a time and in a manner” of their own choosing.

Like on a train, a plane, or in a car in the center of Times Square.

Daily Broadside | We’re Going to See If Texas Stands Tall

This statement has a feel similar to the Declaration of Independence ennumerating the “long train of abuses and usurpations” endured by the American people.

GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT
January 24, 2024

The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States. The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now. President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them. The result is that he has smashed records for illegal immigration.

Despite having been put on notice in a series of letters–one of which I delivered to him by hand–President Biden has ignored Texas’s demand that he perform his constitutional duties.

* President Biden has violated his oath to faithfully execute immigration laws enacted by Congress. Instead of prosecuting immigrants for the federal crime of illegal entry, President Biden has sent his lawyers into federal courts to sue Texas for taking action to secure the border.

* President Biden has instructed his agencies to ignore federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. The effect is to illegally allow their en masse parole into the United States.

* By wasting taxpayer dollars to tear open Texas’s border security infrastructure, President Biden has enticed illegal immigrants away from the 28 legal entry points along this State’s southern border– bridges where nobody drowns–and into the dangerous waters of the Rio Grande.

Under President Biden’s lawless border policies, more than 6 million illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border in just 3 years. That is more than the population of 33 different States in this country. This illegal refusal to protect the States has inflicted unprecedented harm on the People all across the United States.

James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border. That is why the Framers included both Article IV, sec. 4, which promises that the federal government “shall protect each [State] against invasion,” and Article I, sec 10, Clause 3, which acknowledges “the States’ sovereign interest in protecting their borders.” Arizona v. United States, 567 U.S. 387, 419 (2012) (Scalia, J., dissenting).

The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, sec. 4 has triggered Article I, sec. 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, sec. 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.

Greg Abbott
Governor of Texas

This is a showdown, the SCOTUS decision the other day notwithstanding.

Oh, but they are doing something.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday said he will add more razor wire at the U.S.-Mexico border to prevent more illegal immigrants from entering the United States, coming after the U.S. Supreme Court sided with the Biden administration and allowed federal agents to cut the wire.

“We are adding more razor wire as we speak right now to make sure that we are doing even more to secure the border,” the Texas Republican said in an interview Thursday with Bloomberg TV.

The governor said his state has the authority to defy the U.S. government under the U.S. Constitution because its authors—the Founding Fathers—believed that “there would be times when the federal government does not do its job and states have a right of self-defense.”

In fact, Abbott taking charge and leading the way has inspired 25 other states to support his effort. With Texas, that makes it a MAJORITY of states opposing Brandon’s open border. How’s that for “muh’ democracy”?

It’s a confrontation between two power centers — the state v. the federal government. This is how our first civil war started. A second may be churning under the surface as the two sides square off.

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | Airplane Travel Is Now a Woke Disaster-In-Waiting

You know that when the irrational becomes policy you’re in trouble.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is actively recruiting workers who suffer “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.

“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website states. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism.”

The initiative is part of the FAA’s “Diversity and Inclusion” hiring plan, which says “diversity is integral to achieving FAA’s mission of ensuring safe and efficient travel across our nation and beyond.” The FAA’s website shows the agency’s guidelines on diversity hiring were last updated on March 23, 2022.

There’s no other word for it but “absurd.” How in the world does hiring people with extreme disabilities achieve the “mission of ensuring safe and efficient travel”? It’s an absurd premise.

You have to wonder where all these severely disabled people will be placed. I mean, are they going to hire people with “complete paralysis” to sit in the control tower at O’Hare to guide airplanes to the correct runway? Or are they going to be hired to work online from home and file violations of FAA regulations?

This is just a way to make sure every class of “victim” in our society has access to government wages. The government can hire anyone it wants and pay them whatever they want because the money isn’t theirs and this is just one more way to break down our morale and keep things crazy.

Are you aware that the federal government is the largest employer in the United States with 2.95 million employees as of September 2023? I’m pretty sure that’s not what the Founders had in mind when they created a centralized federal government that was supposed to be kept in check by three co-equal branches.

I mean, I’m pretty sure.

The FAA, which is overseen by Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s Department of Transportation, is a government agency charged with regulating civil aviation and employs roughly 45,000 people.

Right, this is a FEDERAL agency, which means that Alfred E. Bootyjudge gets to make all kinds of rules based not on passenger safety, but on his personal ideology in which “diversity” is of greater importance than whether an airplane falls out of the sky or collides with another on the ground.

All eyes have been on the FAA and airline industry in recent days after a plug door on a Boeing 737 Max 9 blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight on Jan. 5. The FAA grounded all 737 MAX 9 planes after the incident and is carrying out “extensive inspection” and maintenance work.

Hmm. How could that have happened? It’s almost as if something else has taken priority over making a quality product at Boeing. But what?

You don’t say.

You. Don’t. Say.

Ooohh and look at this! Perhaps the fact that Boeing outsourced its software safety testing to hourly contractors in India has something to do with their decline?

But think of all that time and money they’re saving!

But wait! There’s more!

The CEO of one of the main US airlines is a nut job who flounces about in women’s clothes. And I’m supposed to trust him to make wise decisions regarding my life and safety?

It’s a clown show and we have to live with it, assuming the aircraft doesn’t go down with a flaming intersectionalist at the throttle.

Just wait until the next airplane disaster in which all aboard are killed and it’s traced back to a person with “targeted disabilities” who couldn’t see or hear or reach the emergency button because of “missing extremities” who loved to drag.

What virtue.

Daily Broadside | What Dirt Does the Deep State Have on Amy Coney Barrett?

Some “””conservative.”””

The Supreme Court voted 5–4 vote to allow U.S. Border Patrol agents to remove razor wire that was set up along the U.S.–Mexico border by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, while a legal challenge plays out.

In a brief order, the high court vacated a ruling issued in mid-December 2023 by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh voted to deny the application to vacate that lower court injunction, which would have prevented Border Patrol agents from removing the barrier.

Chief Justice John Roberts, along with Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Sotomayor, sided with the Biden administration. No one provided an explanation for their vote.

Roberts is completely unreliable and blows with the wind of political opinion. Coney Barrett, hailed as a rock-solid Catholic conservative, is proving to be a huge disappointment and just as unreliable.

With an invasion of massive proportions, she says it’s just dandy for the federal government to remove razor wire barriers to allow foreigners unimpeded access to the country. If we were processing the illegals and deporting them or testing their claims of hardship, that would be one thing, but we’re in the middle of a full on invasion that is being facilitated by the United States governement.

We’re under occupation by a ruling class that has no interest in enforcing the law.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton isn’t giving up yet, promising “that ‘the fight is not over’ after the Supreme Court granted an emergency appeal by the Biden administration to allow Border Patrol agents to resume cutting razor wire set up by Texas at the southern border.”

“The Supreme Court’s temporary order allows Biden to continue his illegal effort to aid the foreign invasion of America,” Paxton said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“The destruction of Texas’s border barriers will not help enforce the law or keep American citizens safe,” he said. “This fight is not over, and I look forward to defending our state’s sovereignty.”

Since when is a State not allowed to secure its borders? When is it not allowed to protect its citizens? In what way does “federal” law trump “state” law?

If you recall, the first Civil War got started as a dispute over States’ rights. Could this be the flashpoint that starts a new clash? Citizens have had enough too:

TakeOurBorderBack.com

After what the Deep State has put us through with its lying and destruction of evidence while sentencing ordinary Americans to lengthy jail terms over January 6, I’m surprised and pleased that there are still Americans willing to confront the government. But how much you want to bet that anyone who shows up will be photographed, identified, hunted down, arrested, detained indefinitely and then tried and sentenced for treason and sedition in opposing the government’s will?

Once Trump is the nominee, we have to put aside all bickering and close ranks behind him. If Trump is not elected, we face the destruction of our republic and the banishing if not outright national cleansing of conservatives and Christians. There is no room for error.

Politics has become a brawl. We need a fighter. Trump is our last best hope.

Daily Broadside | Now It’s a Two-Horse Race

The only other Republican candidate I would be interested in supporting for president has dropped out of the race, two days before the New Hampshire primary.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has ended his campaign for the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nomination.

On Jan. 21, in a 4 1/2 minute video posted on the social media platform X, the Florida governor announced he had suspended his bid for the presidency. The announcement came two days ahead of the New Hampshire primary.

“Following our second-place finish in Iowa, we’ve prayed and deliberated on the way forward. If there was anything I could do to produce a favorable outcome—more campaign stops, more interviews—I would do it. But I can’t ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources if we don’t have a clear path to victory,” Mr. DeSantis said in his video message.

While I hate to see DeSantis exit—I truly believe he would be a strong alternative to Trump and I’d like them to go head-to-head—it does create an opportunity for Trump to deliver a crushing blow to Nikki Haley in Tuesday’s primary. As Josh Hammer wrote a couple of days ago:

Nikki Haley should, of course, also drop out. She is going to lose in New Hampshire, and she will get crushed in the upcoming primary in her home state. But as much as Haley’s own brand of uninspiring, corporatist Republicanism may represent an unwelcome return to the GOP’s forgettable Bush-era yesteryear, she is at least polling high enough in New Hampshire where it is not delusional for her to remain in the race through Tuesday’s primary there. The same cannot be said for DeSantis, who polls very poorly in New Hampshire. (DeSantis seems to now be focusing on South Carolina, where he is not faring much better in the sparse recent polling.)

Haley is a paradigmatic spiritual “BoomerCon” (boomer conservative) and doctrinaire neoconservative who, like the Bourbons of old, has “learned nothing and forgotten nothing” from the GOP’s post-2016 course-correcting turn toward nationalism and realism. She is the wrong choice, at the wrong time, to steer the Republican Party—let alone the United States itself—through this era of ascendant populism and de-globalization.

Nikki Haley must be defeated in this primary. Most cross-tab polling this cycle shows that the leading second choice pick for those who would ideally like DeSantis, this columnist very much included, is not Haley—it is Trump. If that is the case, then DeSantis should strongly consider dropping out even before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, so as to maximize Trump’s chances of delivering a crushing, campaign-ending defeat to Haley.

Haley, as Hammer writes, is the wrong choice and, I would argue, any time is the wrong time for her to lead the Republican Party or to be the leader of the United States. Nikki Haley is a creature of the system, the swamp, the GOPe, the UniParty. She is not the right person to lead us out of the terrible circumstances we find ourselves in.

Sen. Rand Paul is no fan, so I’ll let him tell you about Haley over at his nevernikki.net.

Based on her record and campaign, I don’t see how any thoughtful or informed libertarian or conservative should vote for Nikki Haley. If you agree, let your voice be heard.

Nikki Haley supports Biden and McConnell and the forever-war crowd on funding for the war in Ukraine.
Her thirst for war is so strong she actually said: “I’m sick of talking about a Department of Defense. I want a Department of Offense.” #NeverNikki

She even personally received millions of dollars from the arms merchants who benefit from the war, a conflict of interest that undergirds her eagerness for foreign military intervention.

This position isn’t new either – as governor of South Carolina she gave tax dollars to those same arms merchants, and they showered her with campaign contributions and a seat on their board when she left office.

While most others were decrying the mistakes of the past 20 years, and fighting for an America First foreign policy, Nikki Haley was aligning herself with and declaring her foreign policy allies to be John McCain and Lindsey Graham.

Nikki Haley believes in nearly unlimited foreign aid — we have sent over $100 BILLION we don’t have to Ukraine already and she wants more. But this also isn’t new.

In her book With All Due Respect, she wrote “Humanitarian Assistance will always be a priority for the United States, we will always be generous.”

But Nikki Haley’s “generosity” with your tax dollars and her support for all foreign aid in the context of a $34 TRILLION dollar debt is in no way libertarian or conservative.

Beyond the issues of endless wars, Nikki Haley’s lack of respect for freedom of speech is shocking to anyone who believes in the constitution.

Nikki Haley believes that all internet posters should be registered and verified. This flies in the face of a free American Republic whose founders wrote anonymously the Federalist Papers and routinely posted newspaper articles and pamphlets under Pseudonyms.

Anyone who doesn’t fully believe in free speech or who wants endless wars has no business anywhere near the White House.

But wait, there’s more.

Nikki Haley routinely praised the mission of the United Nations, the results they achieved, and the people who ran it.

First up, her quote “I believe the U.N. does valuable work.” By that she means your tax dollars since the US is the primary funder of UN.

She repeatedly praised the U.N. Secretary General (former president of Socialist International) and declared that they “think alike.”

Did I mention that I am **Never** Nikki?

Nikki Haley disagreed with President Trump’s decision to pull U.S. troops out of Syria and Afghanistan and defended continued U.S. presence in both places.

If you want to move quickly to domestic policy, in South Carolina, Nikki Haley advocated for a gas tax hike, a state-run vaccine registry and never lifted a finger for school choice.

I am Never Nikki and I hope you will be too.

So if you’re a fan of the United Nations, want all content creators on the Internet to be registered with the government, and think spending billions of dollars on endless wars is fabulous, Nikki Haley is your candidate. But I implore you: don’t do it.

She’s also been exposed as having had two affairs before becoming governor of South Carolina. I wouldn’t necessarily mention it, but Never Trumpers point out that Trump has had many affairs. If a solid marriage was a tie-breaker for you, I’m taking that piece off the board.

Presidential candidate Nikki Haley falsely denied cheating on her husband when she was accused of engaging in two extramarital affairs during her gubernatorial campaign, multiple sources who worked with her claim.

New witnesses have come forward telling DailyMail.com that Haley’s denials of two alleged 2008 affairs are false, and that the supposed trysts were brazen and widely known among South Carolina politicos.

Will Folks, 49, and Larry Marchant, 61, both signed affidavits in 2010 alleging they had a sexual relationship with the then-South Carolina lawmaker, before she went on to become governor.

While the contents of the affidavits were described by major news outlets at the time, this is the first time they have been published outside of Folks’ own document which he published on his blog.

Haley, 51, denied both at the time, saying she was ‘100% faithful’ to the father of her two children and husband of 28 years, Michael Haley – who was deployed in Afghanistan with the National Guard in 2012.

Here’s another reason I don’t like Haley.

“You may be wondering how ‘Bill’ became South Carolina First Gentleman Michael Haley,” Haley wrote in her book. “After we started dating, I looked at him one day and said, ‘What’s your name?'”

“‘You know it’s Bill,’ he said, puzzled.”

“‘You just don’t look like a Bill. What’s your whole name?'”

“‘William Michael.'”

“From that point on, I started calling him Michael, and all my friends did the same. When he transferred to Clemson his sophomore year, my friends became his friends, and before we knew it, he was universally known as Michael. Everyone who knew him before I did knows him as Bill, and everyone who met him after I did knows him as Michael.”

“He looks like a Michael,” she wrote.

A woman who forces a man to change his name? Maybe Bill Michael was love struck and didn’t care. Maybe he’s a wimp. Whatever it was, I have little respect for either of them.

Close ranks and get behind Donald J. Trump. Yes, I have issues with the man; if there was someone else who could do what he does (I thought it was Ron DeSantis) I’d be all for that person. But the truth is, we can’t afford another four years—EVER—of the Democrats and the Deep State that supports them. We need someone in there who will right the ship of state before it’s dashed to pieces on the rocks. We’re in the shallows, we’re being battered, we’re taking on water, and we need a person in there who can punch back twice as hard.

And we need to pile up the votes so that they can’t cheat again. #BeatTheCheat

Daily Broadside | How Much Do You Know About the Bible?

I will be traveling over the long weekend, so there will be no posts Monday or Tuesday next week.

How about ending this week on a lighter note? Even though this blog is meant to examine the intersection of faith, culture and politics, I tend to get bogged down in the circus that is our current political state of affairs—amirite?

Some time ago I mentioned that I was developing a “bible basics” class for people who are either new to the Christian faith or who want to fill in the gaps of what they know about the Bible. I’m now planning to turn that material into a book and have been doing some further research to supplement what I originally did for the class.

When I talk about “bible basics” I make no assumptions about what people do or don’t know about the Bible. For instance, if I asked you why we call the Bible, “the Bible,” would you know? Do you know where that word came from?

No?

Well, it’s your lucky day, because I’m going to tell you.

Papyrus

The story starts around 3000 BC, when the Egyptians developed the use of papyrus as a primative form of paper (the word “paper” comes from the word papyrus), which offered advantages over materials like clay tablets and animal skins. The earliest archaeological evidence of papyrus use dates back to mid-2500 BC.

For those of you keeping track, that’s some 4,500-5,000 years ago.

As the Egyptians perfected the manufacture of papyrus, their product became well known and demand for “Egyptian papyrus” was high. They kept the method of production secret, guaranteeing a monopoly on the papyrus market.

One of the most important cities to the papyrus trade was Gebal, a port city on the coast of ancient Phoenicia, located about twenty miles north of the city of Beruit in modern-day Lebanon. Gebal, which played a unique role as an intermediary between Egypt and the rest of the ancient world, imported the famed Egyptian papyrus and then exported it to the Aegean region (the Aegean Sea between Greece and Turkey and south to the island of Crete).

And there is where we begin to pick up hints of the ancient roots of the word “Bible.”

Byblos

Papyrus was adopted by and used extensively by the Greeks. They got their papyrus from the Phoenician traders and called the city of Gebal, “Byblos” (βίβλος)—pronounced BIB-loss, their word for papyrus. More specifically, “biblos” referred to the inner fibers of the stalk of the papyrus reed, from which the rolls (or sheets) of papyrus were made.

Byblion

Once a scroll had been made from papyrus, the Greeks called it a “biblion” (βιβλίον), a diminutive of Byblos meaning “little scroll” (similar to how we say “booklet,” the diminutive of “book”). Eventually it came to refer to any written work (almost always scrolls at that time) and meant “scroll.”

Biblia

“Biblia” (βιβλία) was the plural of biblion, meaning “scrolls.” Greek speaking (Hellenistic) Jews called their scriptures ta biblia (τὰ βιβλία), “the scrolls.” Ta biblia gradually came to mean “the books” as the codex, precursor to the modern book, began to replace scrolls as the favored form of written works.

The earliest Christian use of ta biblia (the books) is said to be 2 Clement 2:14 (c. 150 AD): “The books and the apostles declare that the church . . . has existed from the beginning.” The earliest known use of “ta biblia” to refer to both the Old and New Testaments together was by John Chrysostom in the late fourth century AD.

Note that the word “biblia” is plural, so when it is used by Clement to refer to “the books” he is talking about multiple books, e.g. the individual books that were considered scripture (the canon of scripture that we know today was not fully formed). The sense of a singular “book” when referring to the scriptures had not yet developed, until …

… the Greek phrase was adopted into Latin, where it gradually lost its plural sense became biblia sacra (“holy book”). The word “biblia” was then loaned as a singular into the languages of Western Europe, including Old French.*

Bible

In Old French, the word “biblia” became bible (pronounced BEEB-leh), and was eventually adopted by Old English, replacing biblioðece as the ordinary word for “the Scriptures” in the early 14th century.

The sense of a “book” once associated with the etymology of the word Bible has become obsolete, and instead is now understood to mean any authoritative work (e.g. The Hunter’s Bible; The Football Fitness Bible), but specifically about the Christian scriptures.

And that’s why the Bible is called “the Bible.” The English word comes to us via the Old French “bible” from the Medieval Latin biblia, from the Greek βιβλία (biblia), the plural of βιβλίον (biblíon), originally a diminutive of βίβλος (bíblos), meaning “papyrus” because the Greeks got their rolls of papyrus from the Phoenician city of Gebal (Byblos).

Now you know something basic about the Bible that you didn’t know before. Impress your friends at church this weekend!

See you next week.

* The image is of a German Bible published in 1894 that I own. It has the word “Biblia” on the spine.

Daily Broadside | I Live In A Foreign Country Now

Oh sure, we still mostly speak English and I don’t have any problem driving on the right side of the road, and I can still go out to a restaurant and understand the waitress. But it’s obvious to anyone who’s paying attention that the America of the last generation is gone. You may think that I’m being overly dramatic, but I assure you—it’s gone.

We are being overrun by foreigners, an act that is being enabled by an elite ruling class that hates America and is comfortably ensconced in their positions of power, prestige and wealth, far away from the effects of their ruinous decisions that are wreaking havoc on the rest of us.

2K migrants evacuated from Floyd Bennett Field ahead of storm: officials

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Thousands of migrants were evacuated from Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn to ride out a potential rainstorm on Tuesday night, officials said.

Approximately 2.000 migrants were moved from Floyd Bennett Field in Flatbush to James Madison High School on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Office of Emergency Management. Roughly 40 Department of Education buses were in the evacuation, according to the OEM.

The asylum seekers spent the night in the school’s gymnasium before returning to Floyd Bennett Field on Wednesday morning, officials said. The field began housing about 2,000 migrants last year.

Officials said the move comes over concerns of high winds and flooding that are expected to hit the area.

The health and safety of migrants in our care is always a top priority, which is why we are currently overseeing the relocation of 1,900 guests from the humanitarian emergency response and relief center at Floyd Bennett Field due to an updated forecast with increased wind speeds estimated to be at over 70 MPH tonight,” a City Hall spokesperson said in a statement.

A strong storm system moved through the area later Tuesday, bringing heavy rain and damaging winds to portions of the tri-state area.

I notice the article doesn’t say anything about the 3,000 students at James Madison High School. Aren’t Tuesday and Wednesday school days?

Students at a Brooklyn high school were kicked out of the classroom to make room for nearly 2,000 migrants who were evacuated from a controversial tent shelter due to a monster storm closing in on the Big Apple.

The city made the move amid concerns that a massive migrant tent at Floyd Bennett Field would collapse from torrential rains and gusting winds — packing them instead into the second-floor gym at James Madison High School five miles away.

The school’s neighbors were not keen on the last-minute decision.

“This is f—ed up,” said a local resident who identified himself only as Rob. “It’s a litmus test. They are using a storm, a legitimate situation, where they are testing this out. I guarantee you they’ll be here for the entire summer.

“There’s 1,900 people getting thrown into my neighborhood, half a block from where I live and we don’t know who they are,” he said.

“They’re not vetted. A lot of them have criminal records and backgrounds and we don’t even know.”

Sounds like “Rob” is a raging racist xenophobe! Doesn’t he know that “the health and safety of migrants in our care is always a top priority”? Foreigners are being prioritized over native citizens, “Rob.”

Plus, learning remotely worked so well during the Covid lockdowns!

One irate mom even went off on the migrants as they pulled up in a line of school buses in the pouring rain shortly before 6 p.m.

“How do you feel? Does it feel good?” the woman, who only identified herself as Michelle, screamed at the buses.

“How does it feel that you kicked all the kids out of school tomorrow? Does it feel good? I hope you feel good. I hope you will sleep very well tonight!”

Said a local man, “How do you feel stealing American tax money?”

Whoa! So much white supremacy and hatred of brown and black bodies!

Getting the children who were in that field into a shelter that offered more protection is basic human decency, but this is a great example of how our ruling class is burdening us, the American citizens, with the influx of foreign nationals.

If there weren’t 3.8 MILLION foreigners illegally waltzing into our country since Bradon illegitmately took office, this wouldn’t be a problem.

One of my readers commented yesterday on my article about the Xfinity bill I posted two days ago:

Our grandson’s middle school in Elmhurst has decided this year to make English as a second language. They let the principal (who had been there for years and everyone loved) go because she didn’t speak Spanish and brought in a new person who does. At our Granddaughter’s 8th grade graduation in May (from the same middle school) over half the class was Hispanic. They bus kids in from lower income areas so they can please the diversity squad. The liberals in town love it. Sara said there were fights everyday mostly among the Hispanic girls. Makes me very, very sad that this is what we’ve come to.

My response:

Dave Olsson says:
January 10, 2024 at 2:28 pm Edit

Your grandson and granddaughter will grow up in a foreign country. Not that they will move to one, but one will be force-fit onto this one.

I should have said they will live in a foreign country but, whatever, I’m not kidding.

The majority of Americans will not be white by 2045, according to data that highlights the US’ increasingly diverse population.

An analysis of census data by the think-tank Brookings Institution estimates that white people will comprise less than 50 percent of the US population for the first time in history in little over two decades.

The majority of the population will be made up of minority ethnicities: 24.6 percent for Hispanics, 13.1 percent for blacks, 7.9 percent for Asians, and 3.8 percent for multiracial populations, the analysis claims.

What could possibly be driving this monumental shift?

The shrinking white population can be explained both by higher levels of immigration among people in working age, as well as an influx of immigrant women of childbearing age.

Following a dip during the Covid pandemic, immigration through the southern border is up. The US Border Patrol reported more than 1.6 million encounters with migrants along the border with Mexico in the 2021 fiscal year, more than quadruple the number of the prior fiscal year and the highest annual total on record.

By 2060, the census projects whites will comprise only 36 percent of the under-18 population, with Hispanics accounting for 32 percent.

You don’t say.

You. Don’t. Say.

I could handle this if the change was coming because of legal immigration. But this is an intentional sabotage of the white American majority with a plan to make all of these foreigners Democrat voters.

But Mr. Chairman, that’s the whole point. This is what’s going on, folks, at home. If you’re trying to figure this out, if you’re scratching your heads, you’ve seen the video, you see droves of people, 2.4 million people coming over the border illegally, the president allowing, the Democrats in charge of Congress are allowing it, the deal is they’re going to turn them into voters. You just heard it. They don’t have any problem with that. They celebrate it. Here’s the deal. We have a problem with it. The Constitution has a problem with it. American elections should be decided by American citizens.

That’s it. That’s what this is about. That’s why we’re jumping up and down and screaming, my friends on the video who are commenting about this. That’s why we’re so upset, because our constituents are frightened that we are losing our country. We’re losing our security, we’re losing our sovereignty, because we’re going to allow people from 160 different countries around the world to come in here and decide our elections. That’s it. Here it is on record. You all heard it.”

If you’re white, you’re not allowed to have a country of your own because you’re a hateful colonizer, bigot! Only black and brown bodies are allowed to colonize now.

Welcome to North Central America.

Daily Broadside | A Recent Mailer Tells Me All I Need to Know About Immigration

We continue to be overrun by an invasion of foreigners who aren’t coming here because they want to be part of the Great American Experiment.

Aside from tax cuts and a tireless bloodlust for forever wars, there’s one thing Republicans of the bygone Bush era never tire of — the mass importing of destitute foreigners who neocons swear are nothing less than patriotic Americans at heart, just itching for a chance to make a meaningful contribution to a country they so dearly love.

It’s beyond childish. What we’ve learned over the course of decades, but particularly in recent months, is that a substantial portion, if not the vast majority of Central and South American migrants thrusting themselves into U.S. taxpayer care is that they view this country as little more than an apartment upgrade.

They’ve switched neighborhoods, not lifestyles.

The problem of immigration has been going on for decades but, with the current junta in power, it’s being exacerbated beyond what anyone would have dreamed. You may have noticed that neither the Democrats NOR THE REPUBLICANS have made any serious attempt at stanching the flow of illegals. Where are the bills to overhaul our immigration system? Where are the calls to immediately close our borders to any trespassers?

Their collaboration on illegal immigration is a perfect example of the Uniparty, which exists to keep its members in power.

With that in mind, take a look at the piece of mail I received this past week from Xfinity, the Internet provider who connects me to this blog. They want to get more of their customers to join their mobile services.

Notice anything about it that might present an issue for me?

I don’t speak Spanish. I mean, un poco, but only the bit I learned in seventh grade Spanish class, like “arroz con pollo.” Other than that, this bulk advertisement is mostly indecipherable to me. Fortunately for me, Xfinity included an English version of the advertisement on the other side.

Let me point out a couple of more things about this mailer, and then explain why I’m making this an issue. First, when I took the mailer out of the envelope, it was folded so that the Spanish language side was up.

Normally I get advertisements in English. If there’s another language, it’s treated as secondary, as a translation of the primary language, usually on the back. This was reversed.

At first I thought it was a mistake. But, no, it was intentional.

You know how I know? Because my name and address are printed on the Spanish language side of the advertisement. You know how else I know? Because the envelope in which the advertisement was delivered is also printed with a promo in Spanish on the envelope:

I also know that this was intentional because Xfinity cannot know who reads English and who reads Spanish and who reads both. That’s why Xfinity included both English and Spanish versions. It’s not like my name was accidently added to the “Spanish-speakers” mail file.

And it can’t be that Xfinity is just throwing thousands of mailers to the wind and hoping to catch some new customers. The fine print says that the offer is for, “Existing Xfinity customers with a plan that has been active more than 90 days only.”

Xfinity is clearly not assuming English as the primary language. So here’s my question: why did Xfinity choose to bulk mail an advertisement to who-knows-how-many customers that is clearly targeting Spanish-speaking people?

I can only think of three reasons:

  1. My region is now majority Central American and I’m a minority. That would be news to me but, given the open border over the last three years, unsurprising.
  2. Xfinity has gone woke and they are now prioritizing “brown and black bodies” over white ones, no matter the racial make up of my region. How racist of them.
  3. Spanish-speakers have more money to spend than I do.

Maybe it’s a combination of all three. Whatever the strategy, it underscores the changing demographics of the United States, and that’s why I’m calling your attention to it.

The United States was founded as an English-speaking nation. Even as we grew in size and population, we remained a largely European-immigrant, English-speaking country. When other immigrants arrived, they either had to know English or learn English to thrive in their new home. We didn’t cater to every newcomer and print foreign languages on our signs or our products. If you wanted to “be an American,” you learned the primary language of your adopted home.

But the cultural Marxists and anti-Americans don’t want us to be a homogenus nation that is bound together by a common language or creed. They tell us that being “American” is racist and full of white supremacy. When anyone has tried to pass legislation that would make English the official language of the United States, it is often opposed,

“as a veiled attempt to promote racism and bigotry, rather than an attempt to unify a country. They argue that English-only legislation creates a negative image of non-English speakers, and increases intolerance and hostility toward cultural diversity.”

Ah, yes. Cultural diversity, the Marxist trope that for us to be a moral force for good in this world, we have to be “diverse.” Nothing says unity so clearly as diversity does.

Efforts to make English the official language of the US have been going on for decades. As recently as March 2023, U.S. Senators Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and JD Vance (R-OH) introduced a bill to to establish English as the official language of the United States. The bill is intended:

To declare English as the official language of the United States, to establish a uniform English language rule for naturalization, and to avoid mis-constructions of the English language texts of the laws of the United States, pursuant to Congress’ powers to provide for the general welfare of the United States and to establish a uniform rule of naturalization under article I, section 8, of the Constitution.

But have you heard that such a bill was being considered? You haven’t?

You don’t say.

I guess Mitch McConnell is too busy keeping his pals in Ukraine swimming in cash, squashing true conservative candidates at the polls, and bankrupting the country to worry about a little ol’ thing like national unity.

Getting that Xfinity bill in the mail surprised me because it’s direct evidence that I’m being displaced. I have to flip the page to get a translation, not the immigrant, because it’s not written with me in mind. I’m secondary.

That’s the goal of progressives—and the fact that they’re succeeding makes me a little sad and a little angry.

Daily Broadside | The Big Question is Who You Will Vote for in 2024

The big, fat, hairy, looming anxiety everyone has coming into 2024 is the question of whether Donald J. Trump will regain the presidency. Joe Biden is doing his best to demonize Trump and all of his supporters.

BLUE BELL, Pa. — BLUE BELL, Pa. (AP) — President Joe Biden warned Friday that Donald Trump’s efforts to retake the White House in 2024 pose a grave threat to the country, the day before the third anniversary of the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol by then-President Trump’s supporters aiming to keep him in power.

Speaking near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, where George Washington and the Continental Army spent a bleak winter nearly 250 years ago, Biden said that Jan. 6 2021, marked a moment where “we nearly lost America — lost it all.” He said the presidential race — a likely rematch with Trump, who is the far and away GOP frontrunner — is “all about” whether American democracy will survive.

The speech, the president’s first political event of the election year, was intended to clarify the expected choice for voters this fall. Biden, who reentered political life because he felt he was best capable of defeating Trump in 2020, believes focusing on defending democracy to be central to persuading voters to reject Trump once again.

Full of hyperbole and fear-mongering, the speech packed plenty of disinformation malinformation. We didn’t “nearly lose America” on January 6. But we’ve nearly lost it—”lost it all”—in the years since, as the Biden DOJ, FBI and Garland’s Gestapo have hounded, imprisoned, tried and sentenced protestors to outrageous sentences, who were doing nothing but walking through the Capitol building that day. Did you know that they’re now pursuing protestors who were merely wandering around outside the Capitol on January 6? Not those who went inside, but those were merely present? We’re becoming subject to a tyrannical surveillance state that protects the powerful and abuses the patriotic.

And while this election IS all about “whether American democracy will survive,” it’s not in the way Brandon means it. He means that if Trump is elected, “American democracy” won’t survive. First and foremost, the United States is a representative republic, not a democracy. As Jay McConville writes,

We do not have pure democracy or “rule by the majority” because we have constitutionally protected rights that cannot be voted away, [we] operate under rule of law, and have, till recently, limited government with limited powers.

The Founders rejected a pure democracy. They were aware of what a tyranny of the majority would exact from the people. The word “democracy” is never used in our Constitution or in the Declaration of Independence or the Bill of Rights. Any time a Democrat uses the term “democracy” you can be sure it is their own ignorance being used in the service of perpetuating a lie.

Second, the true threat to our “democracy” is Brandon and his ilk, not Donald Trump. They are waging a PR campaign against Trump, trying to dissuade the American public from supporting him. The Russia! Russia! Russia! lies, the two impeachments, the raid on his house over “stolen” documents, the 91 criminal charges levied against him, the attempts to remove him from the ballot in Colorado, Maine, Michigan and Illinois, and now smearing him and “MAGA Republicans” as the biggest threat to our “democracy” is all a psyop to persuade Americans to abandon Trump.

Trump isn’t the one allowing hordes of illegal aliens to swarm over our border, bringing crime and disease with them. Trump isn’t the one who sent our economy into a tail spin. Trump isn’t the one who has shut down domestic drilling, which would provide cheap fuel, and free us of Middle East oil and the whims of the Saudis. Trump isn’t the one who has depleted our strategic oil reserves, our supply of ammunition and bombs, and has turned our military into a woke joke. Trump isn’t the one trying to regulate which kitchen appliances you can use or what kind of car you can drive. Trump isn’t the one who allowed the world to blow up on his watch in eastern Europe, the Middle East, or the Far East.

That’s all courtesy of Brandon and his administration that is hell-bent on destroying this country as founded. Yet he has the temerity to suggest that the real threat to America is Trump.

Biden has made the preservation of the American democratic system a central theme of his reelection effort, characterizing Trump’s supporters as members of an “extremist movement.”

“The choice is clear: Donald Trump’s campaign is about him. Not America, not you,” Biden said, according to Politico. “Donald Trump’s campaign is obsessed with the past, not the future. He’s willing to sacrifice our democracy, put himself in power.”

“Whether democracy is still America’s sacred cause is the most urgent question of our time. It is what the 2024 election is all about,” he also said. Biden further recalled the events of the Capitol riot and highlighted the participants’ wielding of Trump flags and Confederate flags.

“It was among the worst derelictions of duty by a president in American history,” he added.

This is pure, unadulterated BS. Biden’s puppet-masters are hyping a non-story. They’re the ones who are trying to keep themselves in power. They’re the ones willing to sacrifice our “democracy” on the altar of progressive Marxist dogma to make the US just another country that will be reliant on the elites in Davos and Brussels and New York to keep them fed and employed.

Here’s Dark Brandon’s latest campaign ad.

Trump is having none of it.

In his Valley Forge speech on Friday, Biden stated that “[w]hether democracy is still America’s sacred cause is the most urgent question of our time. It is what the 2024 election is all about.”

Trump, for his part, called Biden’s speech a “pathetic fearmongering campaign event” while addressing supporters in Iowa on Friday, The Hill reported. He went on to criticize Biden’s official tenure, saying “Joe Biden’s record is an unbroken streak of weakness, incompetence, corruption and failure.”

“[I]f you take a look at what he’s doing on the border or inflation, or our military, that horrible day in Afghanistan, you look at what he’s done with energy… All throughout the world, we’re an embarrassment as a country,” Trump lamented. “We’ve become an embarrassment as a country.”

Trump made his remarks in Sioux Center, Iowa, weeks ahead of the Iowa Caucus, the first nominating contest in the Republican primary.

You better be sure who you want in the White House, because it will most likely be one of these two. And one of them is wrecking our country right now.

Daily Broadside | Pile On! Illinois Joins the States Trying to Kick Trump Off the Ballot

Anti-Trump Coloradoans have appealed directly to the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to remove Trump from the GOP’s presidential primary ballot, pending review of SCOTUS.

Colorado voters seeking to remove former President Trump from their state’s GOP primary ballot responded Thursday to the former president’s appeal, asking the U.S. Supreme Court to disqualify him from appearing on the ballot for another term.

“The Court should decline Trump’s invitation to second-guess the Colorado Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Colorado Election Code,” the court filing said.

Trump isn’t second-guessing their interpretation of the election code; he’s challenging their conclusion that he led an insurrection and therefore could be removed from the ballot.

On Wednesday, Trump asked the justices to reverse the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling to disqualify him from the Republican primary ballot for engaging in an insurrection.

In our country, a person is innocent until proven guilty unless they’re a bitter clinger MAGA Republican deplorable. Then a group of judges can determine innocence or guilt based not on a trial with evidence and witnesses before a jury of peers, but on whatever they claim an “insurrection” is.

Of course, the Colorado Supreme Court’s fevered decision is catching on in other states. It’s like the Chinese Lung Pox, but it’s a virus of the mind rather than the body.

Amid ongoing legal battles over his removal from the Republican primary ballots in Maine and Colorado, former President Donald Trump faces a new challenge to his eligibility for high office, this time in Illinois.

A group [sic] five Illinois voters, represented by Free Speech for People, has filed a challenge to Trump’s eligibility under the 14th Amendment, contending that his actions related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot constituted “insurrection” and disqualified him from the presidency, The Hill reported.

“Trump gave aid and comfort to enemies of the Constitution by, among other things: encouraging and counseling the insurrectionists; deliberately failing to exercise his authority and responsibility as President to quell the insurrection; praising the insurrectionists, including calling them ‘very special,’ ‘good persons,’ and ‘patriots’; and promising or suggesting that he would pardon many of the insurrectionists if reelected to the presidency,” the filing claimed.

These kind of hysterical denunciations are the Left’s specialty—long on impressive sounding accusations, short on actual evidence. To wit, not one of the 1,069 J6 political prisoners in the Garland Archipelago has been charged with the crime of sedition or insurrection.

Not one.

But here we have five—count them, FIVE—Illinois voters who have, again, decided without evidence or a trial or a jury, that Trump is an insurrectionist and is disqualified from the presidency. (The five objectors are all men. Where is the diversity I was promised?!)

Again, the irony here is that they represent “Free Speech for People” which, judging by it’s grotesquely colored website that promotes abolishing the Electoral College and replacing it with a national popular vote, is a progressive non-profit that wants to “restore our democracy.” (Funny—when I think of “restoring” something, I think of taking it back to how it originally was, not breaking it from it’s foundational design. But I’m sure that’s just me.)

In their Petition, the Objectors rely on the decisions of Colorado and of Maine, both of which determined that Trump engaged in insurrection. But they also cite “multiple judges and government officials” who claim that January 6 was an insurrection (p. 60).

Again, just because “multiple judges and government officials” have claimed it was an insurrection doesn’t make it one. Frankly, the fact that “multiple judges and government officials” have claimed it was an insurrection makes me all the more suspicious that it was the farthest thing from an insurrection.

I’m not claiming that there was no violence or that things didn’t get broken. But I am claiming that there is actually no evidence whatsoever that Trump engaged in an insurrection, except as claimed by people who defined what happened as “an insurrection.” It was a march on the Capitol that got out of hand and, as we’ve come to learn, was facilitated by the Capitol Police and, most likely, by the FBI.

If it had truly been an insurrection, there would have been an organized assault with guns and a lot of people would’ve died on both sides. Not one of the protestors has been charged with having a firearm on them. As it stands, the only people to die were protestors who were shot or beaten to death by the Capitol Police. It was a Reichstag moment, and the progressives have milked it for all it’s worth.

But the smart people who rule us have all decided that Trump is guilty of “engaging in” an insurrection. He’s the only one. Must’ve been quite a feat, Trump pulling that off all by himself.

The activist judges in Colorado got the ball rolling and now the rest of the states are piling on. Our country is beginning to turn yellow, like a banana republic.

Have a good weekend.
