Daily Broadside | 57 Amazing Things the Left Demands We All Believe

Daily Verse | 2 Samuel 12:22
“I thought, ‘Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let the child live.'”

Thursday’s Reading: 2 Samuel 15-18

Thursday and the last day of March. The weather around here is starting to improve with temps up and snow nowhere in sight.

Is it too much to declare, once again, that we live in the age of the bizarre, the irrational, the strange, the distorted and the insane? I find myself shaking my head in disbelief at the nutty declarations that emanate from those in power or influence on the left.

Men can be women.

All white people are racist.

Larry Elder is the black face of white supremacy.

If you love your country, you are jingoistic and xenophobic.

If you disagree with someone’s progressive ideology, you’re a hater.

Diversity is our strength.

President Trump colluded with Russia.

You can’t know what a woman is unless you’re a biologist.

There is no evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election.

January 6 was an armed insurrection.

The biggest terror threat in this country is white men.

ICE detention facilities are “concentration camps.”

Liberals are tolerant.

It literally never stops. I’ll bet you can add your own to my list. The cultural Marxists are hell-bent on tearing apart traditional notions of morality, rationality, patriotism and responsibility. And they’ve made great progress which, in a twisted way, validates their identity as “progressives.”

I feel like I’ve been made to live in an insane asylum.

Daily Broadside | The Democrats Have No Shame as They Visit the Heights of Hypocrisy

Daily Verse | 2 Samuel 10:12
“Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.

Wednesday’s Reading: 2 Samuel 11-14

It’s mid-week and whatever is going on in Ukraine is a sideshow compared to what is happening here in the country formerly known as the United States of America, courtesy of the Brandon Crime Family, the criminal organization known as the Democrats and the Neville Chamberlain Republicans. While the Dems went scorched earth on a duly elected president and continue the farce of an investigation of a perfectly legal protest of the election results on January 6 (with some innocents who were lured into, at most, trespassing at the capitol along with a few nitwits who did some real damage) while they allowed BLM and antifa agitators and anarchists to turn our streets into a real-life version of The Purge: Election Year, they now have the audacity to whine about how Republicans treated SCOTUS nominee and non-biologist Ketanji Brown Jackson and to go after Justice Thomas’s wife for perfectly legal texts between her and Mark Meadows during the so called “insurrection” on January 6.

Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-Liberal) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin’s (D-Ultra-Lib) complaints have zero purchase with me after how they and their colleagues treated Brett Kavanaugh and, if you really want to know, Justice Thomas at his hearings, led by no one other than the current Resident when he still had what passed for brains back then.

Sen. Joe Manchin on Tuesday criticized the behavior exhibited by Republicans toward Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson during her confirmation hearings last week, according to The Hill.

The West Virginia Democrat — who announced on Friday that he would support Jackson’s confirmation to the high court — said GOP senators who repeatedly cut off the federal judge while she was seeking to explain her sentencing decisions exhibited poor judgment.

“It was disgraceful, it really was, what I saw,” he told reporters. “And I met with her and I read all the transcripts. I listened to basically the hearings and it just was embarrassing.”

Manchin added: “It’s not who we are. It’s not what we were sent here to do, to attack other people and just try to tear them down. I won’t be part of that. I think she’s extremely well-qualified and I think she’ll be an exemplary judge.”

Ackshully, senator, it’s EXACTLY who your party is. Your party, senator, does think that attacking other people and trying to tear them down is, in fact, WHAT THEY WERE SENT THERE TO DO. It’s your party, not the Republicans, who literally find lying liars like Christine Blasey Ford to smear innocent men like Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas out of ideological spite because you can’t bear the thought of a conservative stalling the progressive agenda of imposing a Marxist tyranny on America.

And the Democrats are again trying to make a mountain out of a molehill (is that racist?! probably) by going way beyond the bounds of decency and scope of their powers by revealing that they have text messages from Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife and a conservative activist who “allegedly exchanged 29 texts with White House chief of staff Mark Meadows” in the wake of the 2020 presidential election.

What did those incriminating messages say?

“Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!” Thomas wrote in Nov. 10, 2020, message after most media outlets called the election for Biden, according to the Post.

“You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History.”

Thomas never mentions her husband or the court in the messages, which were among the more than 2,300 turned over by Meadows to the House select committee investigating the riot, the Post said.

But the messages allegedly include her making reference to “The Biden crime family” and urging Meadows to continue the fight. A final message sent four days after Jan. 6 laments what Thomas calls “the end of Liberty.”

Gee, I didn’t know you weren’t allowed to text someone who is in power and give them your encouragement and opinions. HOW CAN THE REPUBLIC WITHSTAND THE REVELATIONS OF A WOMAN WHO BELIEVES THE DEMOCRATS STOLE THE 2020 ELECTION just like half the country does?

Spare me the meltdowns that AOC and other irresponsible and far-left lunatics are having as they call for Justice Thomas to resign or recuse himself based on these shocking—SHOCKING, I SAY—text messages that call for the president’s chief of staff to help the president “stand firm.”

I’m verklempt.

The Democrats have done more to wreck our system of government than any other group or party in the entire history of our country. If it was up to me, I’d outlaw them as a party, make it illegal to propose or support socialism as a member of the Senate or the House, and airlift those who don’t comply to Venezuela, where they will find the ideology more fitting.

Daily Broadside | A Powerful Church is at the Core of the American Experience

Daily Verse | 2 Samuel 7:25-26
“And now, Lord God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house. Do as you promised, so that your name will be great forever.”

Tuesday’s Reading: 2 Samuel 8-10

Since this blog is concerned with faith, culture and politics, I look for the intersection of the three but spend a lot of time on the political state of our country. Today I want to take a brief look at how the cultural ethos of our country, supported by the political regime we live under, is affecting the church—specifically what we’d consider the “evangelical” church in the U.S.

The threat to the Church is the same threat that is grinding down our culture—that of cultural Marxism.

This danger is the subject of a new film, Enemies Within the Church, produced by Cary Gordon, Trevor Loudon, and Judd Saul.  It chronicles the destructive infiltration of the churches and the injection of “wokeism” – Marxism, social justice, Critical Race Theory, gender fluidity – into church doctrine.  The choir of radical Left ideology, having targeted and gradually co-opted the media, Hollywood, Big Tech, the unions, and the political parties, set its sights on penetrating and controlling the churches, a difficult, long-term endeavor.  And, as the film explains, the communists eventually succeeded in penetrating the Bible colleges, seminaries, and pulpits of many denominations to push Christianity in the direction they want.

In the article, the author reviews the film and reports on its themes, concluding,

The subversion of the Church has meant that religious terms have been redefined and recontextualized.  The film shows how seminaries have now become places to deconstruct Christian truth, thereby leading people away from G-d and Christ.  One heretical doctrine that’s gaining ground – antinomianism – claims that Christians are exempt from the obligations of the Ten Commandments and that feelings are more significant than facts.  Churches are now embracing LGBTQ in contravention of Christian doctrine and pastors are even repenting for past Biblical positions that rejected homosexuality.  Traditional clerics maintain that without the law of G-d to lean on, situationalism fills the void: right and wrong are decided not by ethics but by the cynical evaluation of the potential consequences of a decision.

But why attack the Church? Because the Church is at the core of the American experience. In Niall Ferguson’s book, Civilisation: The West and the Rest, he refers to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences twenty-year study of western society in which an official said:

‘One of the things we were asked to look into was what accounted for the success, in fact, the pre-eminence of the West all over the world. We studied everything we could from the historical, political, economic, and cultural perspective. At first, we thought it was because you had more powerful guns than we had. Then we thought it was because you had the best political system. Next we focused on your economic system. But in the past twenty years, we have realised that the heart of your culture is your religion: Christianity. That is why the West is so powerful. The Christian moral foundation of social and cultural life was what made possible the emergence of capitalism and then the successful transition to democratic politics. We don’t have any doubt about this.’

You would think that if the Chinese have figured this out, then maybe we wouldn’t be so quick to destroy our Christian heritage. It’s what gives us our strength.

But American Marxists also know this, which is why they are trying to subvert the Church. It’s the one truly significant obstacle to completing a Marxist takeover of the country.

And the Church is being subverted, especially by LGBTQ+XYZ activists.

Calvin University finds itself facing an awkward news headline. A lesbian staff member at the university, Nicole Sweda, married her live-in partner. That’s not all. An assistant professor of sociology at the college, Joseph Kuilema, presided over their ceremony. The problem? Calvin University claims an evangelical identity and is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church in North America, which holds confessionally to Biblical definitions of sexual morality. This entails defining marriage as between a man and a woman, as well as prohibiting all sexual activity outside the bonds of matrimony.

You can read about it in the link above and find more here and here.

The point is that as secular morality has shifted away from a Judeo-Christian ethic, the Church has been pressured to conform to the new morality. In turn, that means that some churches have abandoned or explained away biblical standards for, in this case, sexual behavior.

I’ve seen it firsthand.

The move to normalize gay and lesbian men and women and to enfold them in the church I had attended for 30+ years was one of the factors that led to my leaving that fellowship. Church leadership had been imperceptibly moving us in a more progressive direction and I began to hear (or not hear) things that increased my concern. For instance, when SCOTUS decided in Obergefell v. Hodges “that state bans on same-sex marriage and on recognizing same sex marriages duly performed in other jurisdictions are unconstitutional,” effectively granting same-sex marriages the same force and elevation as biblical marriage, our senior pastor said exactly zero about it.

And that said something to me.

A little over a year later the same pastor gave a sermon in which he effectively blamed the Church for “oppressing” the LGBTQ+ community. It was during that sermon that I stood up and walked out, never to go back. The church had gradually allowed a progressive thinking to infiltrate and corrupt its allegiance to Jesus Christ and to biblical ethics, especially as it concerned sexual immorality, and I could no longer be a part of it.

All this to say that if you’re a follower of Jesus, stay alert and hold strong to your convictions. It is what gives our country the remaining strength it has, as expressed through the body of Christ, the Church. And our neighbors need to hear it.

Daily Broadside | Your Fast Approaching Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Destiny Courtesy of Brandon

Daily Verse | 2 Samuel 3:36
All the people took note and were pleased; indeed, everything the king did pleased them.

Monday’s Reading: 2 Samuel 5-7

Monday and here’s a few tidbits to be aware of.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-Not Conservative) will vote to confirm Non-Biologist and Radical Jurist Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

“Just as I have with previous Supreme Court nominees, I met with Judge Jackson and evaluated her qualifications to be a Supreme Court Justice. After meeting with her, considering her record, and closely monitoring her testimony and questioning before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, I have determined I intend to vote for her nomination to serve on the Supreme Court.”

When Manchin opposed the Build Better Bolsheviks plan under Brandon, there was talk of him joining the Republican Party. But someone who would vote for a woman who can’t say what a woman is to the highest court in the land after “closely monitoring her testimony and questioning” should remain a pariah in his own party while we occasionally welcome his help.

The enemy of my enemy isn’t necessarily my friend.

It’s unfortunate that SCOTUS is being radicalized with picks like KBJ, because in the not-too-distant-future there are going to be court challenges to things like this: The coming federal weaponization of banking.

A digital version of the dollar has been in the works for over a year now. Earlier this month, [so-called president] Biden signed an executive order both curtailing existing cryptocurrencies and laying the groundwork for a federal digital currency. Crypto regulations have been a favorite topic of Democrats on Capitol Hill and regulators in the federal bureaucracy. Biden deployed numerous excuses, including the risks of money laundering and the carbon emissions needed to produce crypto, to justify cracking down on these currencies. But the kicker of the statement is the regulatory groundwork for the coming “digital dollar.” The United States will be the second major power to foster such a move, after China, where efforts to create a digital currency as part of its social credit system are a sign of what might be coming here soon.

Physical currency likely will be phased out entirely over time, in favor of a digital format controlled by the Federal Reserve. The ubiquity of cell phones and scannable codes will make integration of a digital currency, under some form of the blockchain, relatively easy to implement. This soft-nationalization of the banking sector would leave the United States in uncharted waters. Nearly every transaction, from political donations to purchases as seemingly insignificant as a pack of gum, would be visible to the government and subject to scrutiny. Government regulations could block or track certain transactions with no trial or public recourse. Even worse, if you were placed on a list by a federal bureaucrat — not a judge — your access to banking and credit cards potentially could be shut off without a warrant or trial.

Buy what you need now—like a generator for when the electrical grid eventually breaks—before your purchasing freedom is verboten by non-descript womyn like KBJ.

Of course, the other thing you should buy is seeds for things like lettuce, tomatoes, onions, corn, cucumbers, carrots, celery, strawberries, blueberries and other fruits and vegetables. That’s so when Brandon’s disastrous economic policies and international political failures finally catch up with food prices here in the U.S., you can blunt the impact on your personal grocery bill.

[So-called president] Biden on Thursday warned of global food shortages as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine — predicting that the war would upend global wheat supplies.

Russia and Ukraine jointly supply about a fourth of the world’s wheat exports.

“With regard to food shortages, yes we did talk about food shortages. And it’s going to be real,” Biden said at a press conference in Belgium after attending meetings of NATO and G7 leaders.

“The price of these sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia, it’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well, including European countries and our country,” Biden said.

When your sanctions on another country badly hurt your country, you’re doing it wrong.

Brandon says we don’t expect food shortages in the U.S., but neither did we expect the never-ending surge in gas prices, the supply chain bottle-neck, the empty store shelves, the scarcity of used and new cars, the failure in Afghanistan, the worst inflation in 40 years, the Chinese Bat Flu, or the severe lockdowns imposed on us by our betters in Washington, D.C. and across the nation.

I don’t trust a single thing these people say and even less what they do.

From the “Department of Pure Speculation But Not Really”: imagine a scenario in which Hunter Biden is indicted on federal charges of influence peddling, but then, because his daddy is the Resident, he is PARDONED.

Friday, FNC host Jesse Watters told his viewers he heard Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, would be indicted.

In addition to that, Watters speculated the President would pardon his son and announce he was not seeking reelection in 2024.

If Trump tried that he’d be impeached. Of course, Trump would never have to try that because he’s not a life-long grifter who hasn’t worked a day in his life like career criminal politician “the Big Guy.”

Daily Broadside | Get Ready for Another Surge of the Foreign Invaders

Daily Verse | 1 Samuel 26:20
“Now do not let my blood fall to the ground far from the presence of the Lord.”

Friday’s Reading: 1 Samuel 27-31
Saturday’s Reading: 2 Samuel 1-4

Finally Friday and the close of another week. But the intentional destruction of America continues apace as the mob with their hands on the levers of authority prepare to let in another 170,000 foreigners across our southern border as Trump’s “Title 42” is allowed to expire.

Title 42 was enacted by Trump to expedite the deportation of illegal aliens as protection against the Chinese Lung Pox. Resident Brandon has never fully enforced Title 42 even though the courts ruled that he must multiple times. Now we’re looking at a surge across the “border” (why even use that term?)—as foreigners await the moment the act, which must be renewed by Congress every two months, expires and they know they can’t be immediately expelled. It’s one less obstacle to gaining access and remaining in this country.

U.S. intelligence officials are privately bracing for a massive influx of more than 170,000 migrants at the Mexico border if COVID-era policies that allow instant expulsions during the public health emergency are ended, sources with direct knowledge of the discussions tell Axios.

[…]

Why it matters: Border officials have used Title 42 more than 1 million times to rapidly expel migrants at the southern border without hearing asylum claims. But the Trump-era order wasn’t set up to be permanent, and senior Biden officials are preparing for its end as the virus is brought under control.

In case you’re just joining us, these aren’t “asylum” seekers. These are people who don’t like where they’re living and have heard that they can enter the United States with no objection—they have to be given a hearing—and then they can just melt away into the interior or be transported by the government under the cover of night to almost anywhere in the country where they will become a drain on our economy, our medical system, our educational system and turn a once Anglo-Saxon, Christian majority country into a Third World country because “racism” and “fairness” or something.

The U.S. could be turned into a Third World country, that is, if there is room for a United States in Biden’s new world order at all. Biden’s handlers have effectively erased the Southern border and as a result, illegals are streaming in at a rapid clip. Even the New York Times admitted last October that “migrants were encountered 1.7 million times in the last 12 months, the highest number of illegal crossings recorded since at least 1960.”

A new record could be set in 2022, as the UK’s Daily Mail reported last week that “more than 170,000 migrants are waiting on the Mexican-side of the U.S.-Mexico border to cross and claim asylum” once the Biden administration trashes, as it is expected to do, Title 42, a Trump-era provision that allowed illegal migrants to be expelled during the COVID-19 hysteria.

A country without borders is no country at all. Are Biden’s handlers impossibly stupid and unaware of this fact or fully aware of it and determinedly setting out to render the U.S. borderless? A borderless U.S. fits in well with Leftists’ commitment to their idols of “diversity” and “multiculturalism”; it may even be, in their twisted analysis, an attempt to ensure international peace by making every place pretty much like every other place (and all equally squalid, dirty, and dangerous), so that wars of conquest have no purpose.

It’s a silly and ultimately suicidal utopian vision, but what else makes sense of what Biden’s handlers are doing to border security? Once one sees it all as part of Joe’s new world order, it begins to make sense. In any case, one thing is certain: if Biden’s handlers succeed in implementing their ridiculous and dangerous vision, their new world order won’t even last as long as Poppy Bush’s.

Don’t look at these people as “illegal immigrants” or, as the current administration calls them, “migrants.” This is a foreign invasion incited by the cultural Marxists that infect the Democrat Party to permanently alter what was once the greatest country in the world. But that country, as it existed in the minds of the Founders and as it existed for nearly 200 years, no longer exists. Not really.

They’re just locking in their gains.

Sure, not all of our freedoms have been stripped away, yet. But the government, social media, the mainstream media, our educational system, our judicial system, our law-making bodies and the entertainment industry are all conspiring to strangle dissenting opinions or, if you will, any alternative worldview, to their own. And they’ve been very effective.

The anti-fascist fascists have the upper hand, and it will take a massive movement of the Normals to expel them from society. Everything is against an historical, traditional and conservative scheme and there’s no easy road back (or forward).

When that time comes, as it eventually will, what will you do?

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | An Intelligent Woman Says She Doesn’t Know What a Woman Is

Daily Verse | 1 Samuel 23:16
And Saul’s son Jonathan went to David at Horesh and helped him find strength in God.

Thursday’s Reading: 1 Samuel 24-26

It’s Thursday and the days drag by as we wait for our deliverance from the clown show being forced on us from all quarters. I wrote yesterday that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson should not be confirmed to the Supreme Court because she is an unrepentant ideologue and liar who consistently under-sentenced child pornographers over the course of her career, essentially framing the pornographers as victims rather than the children who were exploited.

Add to that the latest imbecility and you’ll understand why I fiercely oppose her nomination. She doesn’t know how to define a “woman” because she’s, get this, “not a biologist.”

That is a disingenuous lie. I know what a woman is. You know what a woman is. And we’re not biologists either, are we?

Why can’t a supposedly intelligent female jurist say what a woman is?

She won’t say what a “woman” is because what the Cultural Marxist-Democrat-Media Industrial Complex says a woman is won’t fly with half the Senate or half the country. It’s a dodge.

If she’s dodging one of the simplest questions to answer, that means she’s hiding something and we all know what she’s hiding: she supports the trans-sexual movement.

She wants to be a supreme court justice so bad she’s willing to deny the truth by lying to the rest of us.

Not only that, but Brandon’s qualifications for his SCOTUS pick consisted of two characteristics: a “woman” and “of color.” If she doesn’t know what a woman is, how does she know she meets Brandon’s criteria? How does Brandon know? A Republican worth their sordid salary should’ve asked KBJ, “Are you a woman?” as follow up.

Here’s how John Hayward summed it up:

The funniest thing about Jackson’s “I’m not a biologist” dodge is that under current Democrat Party ideology, biologists are the absolute last people on Earth who have anything to say about the definition of womanhood.

Biology and science left the room a LONG time ago in the politicized discussion of human sexuality, and they won’t be invited back into the room any time soon. The entire point of transsexual ideology is the triumph of individual will and collectivist politics over biology.

This is highly relevant to Supreme Court confirmations, because militant transsexualism is all about using coercive force to make EVERYONE ignore biology. Trans fascism is quite literally about punishing anyone who brings biological science into the conversation.

There will be legal fights over trans fascism in the years to come, and when they reach the Supreme Court, radicals and their enablers have no business being there. KBJ was caught lying far too many times yesterday for anyone who knows what time it is to vote for confirmation.

These were not little lies she told, either. She lied about issues of great relevance to the American people, like critical race theory, pedophilia, and the 1619 Project garbage:

Five Key Points from Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Tough Day in the Senate

It’s illuminating that even at this late date, Democrats feel obliged to back away from the madness they gleefully impose on America’s children behind closed doors. They still can’t be loud and proud about their indoctrination programs. That’s a hopeful sign for the country.

But it matters a great deal that KBJ looks like another in the long line of Democrats who conceal their radicalism until they have the power to impose it on the rest of us. Our government is riddled with people like that, and it’s killing us. We need no more stealth radicals.

The story of the Left over the past half-century has been talking one way to the normies, when it’s time to cadge their votes or slip a nominee through confirmation hearings, but acting very differently when there’s no scrutiny. That’s why they fight so hard against scrutiny.

Supreme Court hearings are just partisan shouting matches and exercises of raw power these days, but if this were any kind of real deliberation or reasoned debate, KBJ would have disqualified herself yesterday. The GOP probably can’t stop this, but they should damn well try. /end

It’s time that Normal Americans stand up and call BS on this BS. Stop being afraid of “offending” someone or being called “racist” or “homophobic” or “hater” or some other verbal insult that the irrational truth deniers use to shut you up.

Stand for truth and common sense.

Daily Broadside | Virtue Picks Are Popular But Make Us Stupid

Daily Verse | 1 Samuel 15:7b
“The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Wednesday’s Reading: 1 Samuel 20-23

Wednesday and we’re about a week away from the end of the month as we count down the remaining time we must live under the thumb of the illegitimate ruling junta in the White House. Once we hit April, there will be about six months to the mid-terms; from there, it’s a full two years to the next presidential election.

Honestly, I don’t know what our country will look like by then, but judging by how it looks now, I’m not so sure there will still be sentient beings able to rebuild on whatever remains. Otherwise, we may have to just bulldoze the entire thing and start over.

For instance, here is what passes for profundity from the second-most powerful person in the United States (and, if we still believe it, in the world).

I’m moved. Aren’t you?

“We were … talking about the significance of the passage of time. Right? The significance of the passage of time. So when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time, in terms of what we need to do, to lay these wires, what we need to do to create these jobs. And there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children.”

This is what you get when politics trump principles. This is not a serious person. She’s done nothing—zip! zilch! nada! bupkis!—to be a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States. And she shows what an empty, hollow and shallow thinker she is.

As Brit Hume points out, she’s only there because “she checked certain political boxes.”

Speaking of checking certain boxes—the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States is exactly the same. She’s black (check!), she’s a woman (check!), and she’s an ideologue who supports Critical Race Theory (check!) and is soft on child pornographers (check!).

In other words, she’s a Democrat’s dream candidate.

Listen to her reasoning for why she consistently under-sentenced child pornographers over the years:

She’s using the “volume” of materials the criminal was caught with as a baseline. Presumably, the higher the volume, the stronger the sentencing. She argues (rightly) that now, because of the Internet, it’s easy for child pornographers to amass large amounts of kiddie porn, which has led to “extreme disparities in the system”—which, by the way, someone should ask her to say more about. Any time I hear about “disparities” it’s usually about some oppressed minority group. How do guidelines created before easy access to child pornography create “extreme disparities” in the age of the Internet?

Don’t ever tell me that choosing the next SCOTUS Justice isn’t about finding someone who will advance the ideology of the party in power. Those who can’t get their laws passed through the legislature use the courts to sue for what they want.

Judge Brown Jackson is not someone we want on the court. She will likely not rule objectively based on the Constitution, but on the grievances she has against her fellow citizens.

Don’t let the Democrats force another virtue pick on the country.

Daily Broadside | Get Your Grubby Liberal Fingers Off My Country

Daily Verse | 1 Samuel 15:22b
To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”

Tuesday’s Reading: 1 Samuel 16-19

Tuesday and it’s hard to know where to start. I’m a once-a-day blogger right now and unless I become enormously popular and independently wealthy, that’s the way it’s going to stay. But there’s a thousand topics out there that could be covered skewered and I can only pick one each time I break out my keyboard.

There’s the war in Ukraine and the increasing calls for the U.S. to escalate our involvement. There’s the absolute insanity of men presenting as women winning in sports and women of the year honors. There’s Hunter Biden’s laptop, which the New York Times has finally decided was legit, so I guess we can all talk about it now. There’s Brandon’s virtue pick for the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson, who seems to have had “a pattern of letting child porn offenders off the hook for their appalling crimes.” There’s the specter of renewing the tyrannical Chinese Lung Pox restrictions with the re-emergence of Dr. Faux Chi on the Sunday talk show circuit. There’s inflation and the high cost of gas, even though we could have it easily and cheaply if our government masters allowed it. There’s our southern “border” which is now just a concept, not a reality, in service to the “Great Society” of the 1960s. There’s the grooming of America’s children in public schools. And if those weren’t enough, there’s the Great Issues of Our Day being addressed by our do-nothing-good Congress, namely, hair discrimination and making Daylight Saving Time permanent—because those are the most pressing issues America is concerned about.

What’s a blogger to do?

Well, since the criminal enterprise known as the Democrat party is driving the chaos and irrationality of our current day madness, let’s pause for a moment to check on how they’re faring heading into the mid-term elections.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if the elections for Congress were held today, 50% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Republican candidate, while 39% would vote for the Democrat. Just five percent (5%) would vote for some other candidate, but another seven percent (7%) are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

That’s fantastic news, even though the results indicate a two-point gain for Democrats since February.

The 11-point edge for Republicans in the latest poll is larger than Democrats enjoyed at any time during the 2018 midterm campaign, due both to greater GOP partisan intensity and a 19-point advantage among independents. While 94% of Republican voters say they would vote for their own party’s congressional candidate, only 82% of Democrats would vote for the Democratic candidate. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 46% would vote Republican and 27% would vote Democrat, while 13% would vote for some other candidate and 14% are undecided.

Fifty-four percent (54%) of whites, 28% of black voters and 48% of other minorities would vote Republican if the election were held today. Sixty-two percent (62%) of black voters, 36% of whites and 35% of other minorities would vote Democrat.

The so-called “gender gap” is nearly non-existent in the latest findings, with men (49%) one point less likely than women voters (50%) to prefer Republican congressional candidates.

Add to that the resignation of 31 Democrat House members (a 30-year high) and prospects for the party look bleak. The party in power typically loses seats in the mid-terms, but the economy and the incompetent moron occupying the White House are creating the right conditions for a wave election.

Of course, we’re still eight months out, we’re watching a smoldering fight in Ukraine with the potential to become a wider conflagration, and who knows what sort of evils the Left have in store for the November elections.

More than half of voters believe cheating affected the 2020 election and an overwhelming majority say the issue of election integrity will be important in the midterm elections.

You don’t say.

Well, I won’t be surprised if a toilet in a Blue State somewhere overflows and floods precincts in four or five surrounding states.

As I’ve said before, we have the wind at our backs. Don’t just read about what’s happening; donate money, volunteer time, and help America pry the pasty fingers of the Democrats off the levers of power before they completely destroy us.

Daily Broadside | Business Is Becoming An Alternative to the Church

“As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you.”

Monday’s Reading: 1 Samuel 13-15

Monday and not sure if you noticed, but spring is in the air. The Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere was yesterday, March 20. Personally, I’m eager for the warmer temps and the fading away of the snow and cold.

Over the weekend I received in the mail a nicely designed brochure from Davey Tree, a national tree and lawn care service. We’ve used them off and on for the last decade or so when our budget allowed for it.

The brochure was not your run-of-the-mill tri-fold on shiny photocopy paper. It was a 12-page, full color, full bleed, bi-fold and stapled print job on heavy card stock. Being in the communications business, I know they’re expensive to produce, not to mention the cost of mailing it.

Davey invested a lot of money in creating it and sending it to who knows how many thousands of homes.

Now, if you’re a business and you’re going to spend that kind of money on a handsome brochure, you want to be sure that it’s communicating something important, that it’s differentiating you in the mind of your target audience and, most importantly, that it’s driving new business and customer retention. That’s what marketing does.

As a business, everything you do is focused on making money, which is what keeps you in business. So what did they choose to promote in the brochure?

Climate change and “tree meditation.”

Really.

The cover gives the title of the publication as the spring edition of “Growing Together.” The first two pages list the table of contents and a page of introduction addresses the reader as, “Dear Tree Lover.” Four-and-a-half pages are dedicated to climate change, two pages are dedicated to “Tree Meditation,” one page is dedicated to “tree-inspired haikus” (yes, you read that right) and one page is dedicated to “spring fertilization.” The back cover is the mailing address and a half-page maze activity—for the children, I presume.

Judging by the space allocated and word count, the main topic is climate change, followed by tree meditation or “forest bathing.”

Forest bathing?

I’m not taking a shot at Davey Tree. They are apparently as woke as any other company and find that in order to remain in good standing with the public, they have to toe the climate change line. According to ecochondriacs (term coined by Doug Wilson), trees are a sort of savior of the climate, providing oxygen, cleansing the air of CO2 (carbon dioxide), improving air quality, conserving water and preventing soil erosion. A lot of that is covered on page 06 of the brochure under “How Trees Impact Climate Change.”

What is so curious to me is that a secular business that offers its services for money is promoting things like “mindfulness” and “presence”—it’s like they’re trying to care for your soul.

Now that you’ve become present, continue walking slowly and feeling each aspect of your experience. If you notice your mind wandering, don’t worry, just return to the present by focusing on your breathing and your senses. You may pause to marvel at a massive oak or listen to a babbling brook. Just follow your feet and immerse yourself in the moment.

What gives? Fully two-thirds of the booklet is about making an emotional connection to trees, while only one out of the 12 pages is dedicated to a particular service—spring fertilization—that Davey offers. And they only allot 133 words to tell me about that.

It’s a very interesting approach.

The whole section about “tree meditation or forest bathing” feels very much like worship—we go to the trees for healing and health. We write haikus in honor of the trees.

I’m not knocking the beauty of a forest or hiking through the woods. I’ve climbed mountains and hiked through forests and spent time in wide-open spaces that featured large trees on the landscape. It can be refreshing and a well-needed change of habitat for the mind and spirit.

I even see this “spiritual” element in my own company, which recently promoted a “kindness” campaign, is promoting personal “wellness,” and talks incessantly about including everyone. It sounds like what the Church should be doing.

Could it be that the Church has so failed in its mission to present Jesus Christ to the world that our modern marketplace is trying to address the inner needs of its employees and clients? There is no doubt that businesses are trying to minister to their workforce. I just don’t know if that’s because the Church has failed in its mission.

It’s probably part of it.

For those of us who follow Christ it’s in God that we’ll find not just reduced “stress, anxiety, depression, and anger” (as Davey says), but absolute inner peace through the Holy Spirit. The forest can only temporarily mask the anxiety or stress that we feel. God can remove it permanently. Kindness can be done under our own power, but can it be sustained over a lifetime?

Exit question: how many trees had to die to produce the sweet brochure that Davey Tree sent out?

Friday’s Reading: 1 Samuel 4-8
Saturday’s Reading: 1 Samuel 9-12

Friday and the close of the week. For those of you with Irish blood, I hope your Thursday was happy and green for St. Paddy’s Day.

A few days ago a Quinnipiac University poll reported that if Americans found themselves in the same position as the Ukrainians—under military attack by a foreign adversary—“only 55 percent said that they would stay and fight for this country.”

As the world witnesses what is happening to Ukraine, Americans were asked what they would do if they were in the same position as Ukrainians are now: stay and fight or leave the country? A majority (55 percent) say they would stay and fight, while 38 percent say they would leave the country. Republicans say 68 – 25 percent and independents say 57 – 36 percent they would stay and fight, while Democrats say 52 – 40 percent they would leave the country.

Only 55 percent said they’d stay and fight? Wut?

More than half of Democrats would leave the country, which is surprising; I would have guessed that number to be between 60 – 70 percent. Still, that’s understandable for a group that associates with a criminal political party that hates the United States.

Shockingly, more than half of Democrats (52%) said they would cut and run if the U.S. homeland were invaded. We aren’t talking about women and children, or even some cadre of pacifists and conscientious objectors. This is most Democrats saying they’d rather leave America than defend it. Only a pathetic 40% said they would stick around.

Republicans did better. More than two-thirds (68%) said they would stand their ground. This could be a reflection of the partisan skew in the nation’s distribution of small arms. But 1 in 4 Republicans said they’d flee—not exactly the don’t-tread-on-me spirit I was expecting.

Seriously, where are the patriots?

What in the hell has happened to this country? One can hardly imagine Americans of yesteryear exhibiting such high levels of yellow-bellyism. Where have all the Minutemen gone? The Molly Pitchers? The Audie Murphys? The Todd Beamers?

Here’s the breakdown of the results:

A couple of observations about the demographics. First, 58% of whites with a college degree would not stay and fight. That’s worse than the 52% of Dems who would flee.

Second, two-thirds of those in the 50-64 age group would stay and fight. That’s likely because they still have the stirrings of a patriotism that has been slowly driven out of our children over the last few generations. The 18-34 demographic has the highest number of those who would run. Aligns with the immaturity and outright mental warp of those generations.

Third, it’s a revelation, but perhaps unsurprising, that black Americans have the lowest number of those who would stay and fight (38%) and the highest number of those who would leave the country (59%). Why stay to fight for a country you are told is racist to the core? You might even cheer its destruction.

Even more surprising is that Hispanics are the second-highest group who say they would fight (61%). Would love to know the demographic make-up of the 1,374 U.S. adults polled.

None of this instills confidence in our ability to defend ourselves against a foreign military assault on our homeland.

Jonathan Turley writes in response to the poll:

The poll shows a crisis of faith within the Democratic party, but also our country at large. People have lost faith in our common article of faith in the Constitution. That did not occur over night. There have been unrelenting attacks on our institutions and core values for years that ignore our countervailing successes. We have gone through terrible periods and faced terrible institutions and practices from slavery to segregation. However, we faced them as a people united in a common faith captured in the Declaration of Independence:

Many years ago as I watched the divisions in this country widen, I realized that we no longer had common interests. When we divide into tribes that are set against each other—women against men, religious against irreligious, rich against poor, black against white, homosexual against straight, citizens against illegals, socialists against capitalists, constitutionalists against Marxists—we lose the broader principles and culture that bind us together.

Who wants to fight for the Karens that despise you? Who wants to fight on behalf of the bitter clingers and deplorables? Will you really defend my right to say what I want when you think that what I say is “literally violence”? Who the heck wants to go to war to protect the soy boys and antifa anarchists?

What’s amazing is that 45 percent of Americans don’t even have the guts to defend hearth and home. They would literally abandon their home to preserve their life. Turley again:

If you are not willing to defend this country, citizenship becomes a status of convenience; an opportunistic association that can be shed as easily as it is acquired. It is a commitment that extends little beyond annual tax obligations.

Shameful.

I’m part of the 50-64 demo and, you’ll not be surprised to learn, I would stay and fight. And I know others who would stand and fight. But will it be enough?

Have a good weekend.
