Daily Broadside | Talking Head Blasts Pro-Life Christians with Poor Reasoning From the Bible

Daily Verse | Daniel 12:2
“Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.”

Wednesday’s Reading: Hosea 1-7

Wednesday and I think of this blog as daily commentary on politics, culture and the Christian faith. I see those three fields as directly interrelated. Politics is downstream from culture, and culture is downstream from faith. The politics we’re experiencing are a result of the culture we live in, and the culture we live in is shaped by the amount of biblically-accurate faith that exists in the culture.

According to research conducted a year ago by Dr. George Barna, 176 million Americans claim to be Christian (69% of the population), but only 9% of them possess a biblical worldview. In other words, nearly three-quarters of us identify as “Christian” but only about one in ten of us actually live life according to that biblical identity.

What that means is that we end up with proclamations like the one that Joe Scarborough recently offered up during MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Scarborough lauded [Republican South Carolina state Sen. Katrina] Shealy’s speech and then accused pro-life Christians of “heresy” and suggested that Jesus doesn’t necessarily oppose abortion because the Bible doesn’t record him having said the word.

“As a Southern Baptist, I grew up reading the Bible — maybe a backslidden Baptist, but I still know the Bible. Jesus never once talked about abortion, never once! And it was happening back in ancient times, it was happening during, in his time!” Scarborough said angrily. “Never once mentioned it, and for people perverting the gospel of Jesus Christ down to one issue, it’s heresy.”

Backslidden Joe Scarborough is correct in his assertions about two things: abortion was a common practice in biblical times, and Jesus did not, in fact, address abortion in scripture. But knowing those two facts does not lead necessarily to his conclusion, which is that “there are people who are using Jesus as a shield to make 10-year-old raped girls go through a living and breathing hell here on Earth.”

I would put Scarborough among the 176 million Americans who claim to be “Christian” but don’t have a biblical worldview. His rant is not meant to be a strong biblical argument, but an emotional appeal to win support for his ideological position. The 9 percent of Christians with a biblical worldview are constantly hammered with arguments like these and need to be able to answer them with biblical reasoning and logic.

The most obvious flaw in his argument is the logical fallacy of arguing from silence. He’s saying that because Jesus never addressed abortion, it’s un-Christian to make such a singular issue out of it—”heresy,” as he labels it.

The problem with his argument is that we don’t know that Jesus never addressed abortion. Not everything Jesus said and did is recorded in scripture (John 21:25). Jesus is not recorded as addressing slavery, sex trafficking, drug use, systemic racism or transgenderism. What can we conclude about his views on those issues?

Nothing. We don’t know because scripture is silent on what Jesus thought.

Scarborough, though, is declaring what Jesus believed about abortion by what he didn’t say. But silence does not mean approval nor, to be fair, does it mean disapproval.

Essentially, the argument from silence is attempting to prove something in the absence of evidence. What would help, then, is evidence. And when it comes to children and their value to Jesus, we have plenty.

First, Jesus himself experienced the process of conception to birth, arriving incarnate as a child rather than a fully formed adult.

Second, Luke 1:41-44 records an in utero interaction with his cousin, John the Baptist, who “leaped for joy” over his proximity to Jesus while he was still in the womb. That indicates awareness, emotion and agency, which are all aspects of personhood.

Third, Jesus honored the Jewish scriptures as authoritative during his life. We can safely assume that he would affirm the declaration of David in Psalm 139:13-16.

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

And, finally, Jesus scolded his disciples who tried to prevent children from being brought to him (Mark 10:13-16).

People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Jesus was indignant with his disciples’ treatment of the little kids. I can imagine him saying, “Whoa, whoa! What are you guys doing?” He was offended by their presumption.

Even though Joe Scarborough is correct that Jesus never mentioned abortion in scripture, he’s wrong in concluding that therefore it’s wrong for Christians to make such a big deal about it. It’s clear from the rest of the Bible that children are created by God and that Jesus found them worthy of blessing.

That’s why we fight the scourge of abortion.

Daily Broadside | Illinois Leads the Ranks of States with Insane Crime Bills

Daily Verse | Daniel 4:17
“The Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of men.”

Tuesday’s Reading: Daniel 7-12

Tuesday and if you live in Illinois like I do, have you heard that The Purge will be a 24-7-365 reality starting January 1, 2023?

This is, in fact, very real. It’s called the SAFE-T Act which, as all laws the Democrats produce, is nothing short of a monstrous lie. Here’s how Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau describes what’s coming.

The new law eliminates cash bail for 2nd-degree murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery. Any criminal with an ankle bracelet can’t be pursued for 48 hours if they don’t show up in court. Talk about a head start! As Pekau says, “They can almost drive to Alaska, before we can even look for them.”

Worse for private residence or business owners, police will no longer be able to remove trespassers who decide to squat on your property. Ominously, Pekau says, “Someone could decide to live in your shed, and all we can do is give them a ticket. You have to decide what level of force is required to remove them. And whether or not it’s legal.

This is more of what the anti-American, anti-law, anti-Constitutional criminal party of mobsters known as the Democrats are doing to destabilize society and sow chaos. It’s not unreasonable to say that Illinois residents now feel less safe than before.

On January 1, 2023, Illinois will open the prison doors and release anyone charged with almost any crime but who can’t make bail. Think of the victims of rape, or assault or robbery. Their attackers will walk free.

Furthermore, this denies crime victims their constitutional rights. Article 1, Section 8.1 of the Illinois Constitution, codified in the Rights of Crime Victims and Witnesses Act, mandates that crime victims shall have the right to have their safety and that of their families considered in denying or fixing the amount of bail, determining whether to release the defendant and setting conditions of release after arrest and conviction. Eliminating bail clearly contradicts previously established and superior law, places crime victims at a greater risk to be re-victimized, and unnecessarily subjects witnesses to threats and intimidation.

Chicago has always been corrupt, but this is taking it to another level entirely. It’s spreading the joy across the whole state.

And why?

To level the ground for all criminals. As the thinking goes, “Why should some criminals get to pay their way out of a cell, but others can’t?” It’s so perverted and twisted and warped, catering to criminals at the expense of the law-abiding, exactly the opposite of a safe and well-ordered society.

Don’t be surprised if you see a mass exodus out of Illinois in coming months. In the meantime, if you live here, arm yourself, buy ammo, and get networked with your neighbors. When everything falls apart, no one is coming. Or, if they do, there’s not much they can do.

You’re on your own.

It’s Monday, September 12.

Since I do not write on the weekends, I am posting my annual tribute to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

It is my moment of silence.

We must never forget.

Friday’s Reading: Ezekiel 44-48
Saturday’s Reading: Daniel 1-3

Friday and sincere condolences to our cousins in the UK on the passing of her majesty, Queen Elizabeth. It’s a remarkable loss given that she was the longest reigning monarch in British history at 70 years (1952-1922), and the second-longest in world history behind only French King Louis XIV, who ruled for 72 years (1643–1715).

Entire generations of Brits have grown up knowing only Queen Elizabeth as the head of British royalty. Heck, even I’ve only known Queen Elizabeth during my lifetime. I once spent a year in London during my college days and saw her in a motorcade passing by while the crowd cheered and waved. I consider myself fortunate to have lived during her remarkable reign.

I understand that she was a woman of strong faith. Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s son, said, “Queen Elizabeth once said, ‘I draw strength from the message of hope in the Christian gospel'” and that, “she was a true friend of the Christian faith.”

I hope that’s true. May she rest in peace.

In other news, from the category of “I can’t even,” there’s this gem: DC Mayor Muriel Bowser declares emergency over migrant buses from Texas, Arizona.

Bowser’s emergency declaration will set aside funding to accommodate migrants as well as create the Office of Migrant Services. The OMS will be tasked with providing temporary accommodations, urgent medical needs, transportation” and other services for migrants.

“We’re putting in place a framework that would allow us to have a coordinated response with our partners,” Bowser said Thursday. “This will include a program to meet all buses, and given that most people will move on, our primary focus is to make sure we have a humane, efficient, welcome process that will allow people to move on to their final destination.”

“Regardless of the federal response — which I think has been lacking in some respects — that the District of Columbia would continue to work with partners to advance what we need and ensure our systems in D.C. are not broken by a crisis that is certainly not of our making,” Bowser added.

Oh, it’s a crisis? You’re going to move people “on to their final destination”? You mean you’re not going to keep them there? You’re not going to shower them with free education, medical care and put them up in the best hotels? You’re instead going to pass them on to some other fair city?

If I was a red state city complaining like Bowser, I’d be called racist, xenophobic, intolerant and a hater of brown people.

You know how many illegal aliens have been bussed to Washington, D.C. so far? About 9,400. You know how many illegal aliens have been caught crossing the border since Angry Hitler was installed as Resident? 5 MILLION. (Graphic linked to article at dailymail.com.)

That’s basically dumping the whole country of Ireland into the U.S. if they were Latino and spoke some language other than English. Which, if you’ve ever heard the Irish brogue, sometimes sounds like a foreign language.

Don’t forget that Bowser talked big when she thought no one was going to call her on it.

Well, that’s changed now. Washington, D.C. is no longer a “sanctuary city” but a “border town.”

“In many ways, the governors of Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town. We don’t know how long this will take to resolve. We don’t know how long they will continue bussing,” Washington DC Councilmember Brianne Nadeau said.

She doesn’t mean “border town” as a positive thing. But why? What’s wrong with being a border town? You’re the ones that wanted this. Her and the mayor’s support of open borders and refusal to cooperate with ICE has created this “crisis.”

Talk about being cluelessly woke with no sense of irony. H8ter!

It’s absolutely precious to see these anti-American morons get a taste of what red states like Texas and Arizona have been dealing with for years because of progressive Leftist policies like Brandon’s open borders policy.

It’s all part of a plan to sow chaos in the United States and dilute the cohesion of what once held us together as a society. With lawlessness becoming sanctioned by the state, I wonder how long it will be before the same state decides to declare two weeks of martial law to flatten the curve.

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | Don’t Lose Your Cool Over Smart Thermostats. Just Get Rid of Them.

Daily Verse | Ezekiel 39:7
“‘I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the Lord am the Holy One in Israel.'”

Thursday’s Reading: Ezekiel 40-43

Thursday and Big Corporations and Big Government continue finding ways to impose their will on us, often collaboratively, like when Amazon, Google and Apple cancelled the Parler app because they didn’t moderate “violent content” to the satisfaction of the Tech Giants. Parler was also a conservative alternative to leftist Twitter where Trump supporters found a social network without draconian censorship policies, so there were moral imperatives at work, too.

As another example, just last week, New York City officials said they “are requesting that credit-card companies such as American Express, Mastercard and Visa add a new four-digit ‘merchant code’ that would classify gun and ammunition stores on individual statements when purchases are made.” The policy would ostensibly “help companies track when suspicious purchases are made.”

It would also help companies (which “companies” are those?) track when legitimate purchases are made but made by the “wrong people.” Like, say, Trump supporters—who, as you know, are one of the gravest threats to “our democracy” (*spit*).

Last week some 22,000 citizens in Colorado discovered that their electric company had locked them out of their home thermostats because of an “energy emergency.”

Thousands of utility company customers in Colorado were locked out of changing their thermostats due to an “energy emergency,” sparking outrage that spilled onto social media.

Xcel Energy, a utility company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, confirmed that 22,000 customers in the Denver, Colorado area who were signed up for the Colorado AC Rewards program were locked out of their thermostats for several hours on Tuesday, KMGH-TV reported …

Some customers posted on social media that they were stuck with home temperatures as high as 88 degrees, KMGH-TV reported.

It was as high as 90 degrees outside, and Xcel Energy customers weren’t able to control their energy use.

Why? Well, because, dummy, they signed up for a “rewards” program. VOLUNTARILY!

In a statement, Xcel Energy pointed out that the customers were part of a rewards program that gave them a discount on their energy bill in exchange for permission to give the company some control over their smart thermostats.

“It’s a voluntary program,” Emmett Romine, vice president of customer solutions and innovation at Xcel, told KMGH-TV. “Let’s remember that this is something that customers choose to be a part of based on the incentives.”

I wonder if those 22,000 customers were warned that the utility company could commandeer their thermostat and set the temperature in their homes without warning? I wonder if that was said in big type at the top of the rewards program flyer or if it was in fine print as one of a dozen footnotes at the end of the terms and conditions of service? Or was it just a general “the company can take ‘some control’ of your thermostat” without specifying exactly what “some control” meant?

Did the customers know that they would be ceding control over their ability to consume the amount of energy they independently determined they needed and would pay for at a critical moment, or nah?

Once Big Energy or Big Government has control over your freedom to make choices about how you will manage your life, you’re at their mercy, just like in this case. It’s only a small step from there to applying the mentality of Big Tech with Parler.

You voted for Trump? You’ve voiced outrage at a stolen election? You’re questioning why Hillary Clinton is still walking free? You bought a gun? You think Brandon is a facsist? You bought “Justifying Revolution” from Amazon and are going to review for your readers?

Ho ho! No heat for you!

You think I’m reaching here? How many of you thought you’d see the day when an energy company takes it upon itself to decide that you can’t have the energy you want—at peak need—because of a company-declared emergency? Remember, this wasn’t the government declaring an emergency—this was a public utility declaring one.

What if remotely cranking your thermostat up to 80 degrees created “an emergency” for you?

Sure, they incentivized their consumers to join the program, but I’d wager a day’s pay that few of them knew exactly what they were signing up for. Yeah, consumers got a free NEST thermostat, but they also gave up freedom of self-determination.

That “free” thermostat left them at the mercy of the energy company.

Here’s what the Europe Union is doing in the midst of their energy crisis:

They’re going to FLATTEN THE CURVE! Hey, haven’t I heard that phrase somewhere before?

You know that our rulers are just salivating looking at the EU and the Colorado power moves (see what I did there?).

Instead of finding better and cheaper ways to provide energy; instead of modernizing the power grid and fortifying it against failure; instead of letting the citizenry determine how much energy they are willing to consume and pay for; instead of doing all that, Big Corporations and Big Government are looking for ways to deliver the minimal required while maximizing profits.

And to do that, you need to comply with their vision of what is “enough.”

The solution? Get yourself off the Internet of Things. Buy a plain vanilla thermostat that lets you decide when and how much energy you’ll use.

At least until the mandates arrive.

Daily Broadside | Poll: Majority Say Biden’s Pennsylvania Speech Designed to Incite Conflict

Daily Verse | Ezekiel 36:22
“It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name.”

Wednesday’s Reading: Ezekiel 37-39

Wednesday and the majority of voters think that Brandon’s harangue last Thursday night was a dangerous escalation of tension between the Democrats and the majority of Republican voters.

The poll asked respondents, “What is your opinion of President Biden’s recent primetime address to the nation in which he accused his political opponents of representing ‘an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic’?”

A new poll has revealed that a majority of Americans say that Biden’s prime time speech, delivered last week in Philadelphia before a blood red backdrop, was “a threat to this country,” a “dangerous escalation,” and was “designed to incite conflict.”

The poll, conducted by the Trafalgar Group for the Convention of States Action, found that 56.8 percent of likely general election voters said that Biden’s speech in which he designated MAGA Republicans extremists “represents a dangerous escalation in rhetoric and is designed to incite conflict amongst Americans.”

Over at Breitbart:

The following day after Thursday’s speech, Biden tried to walk back his dark speech that portrayed the Republicans as extremists who threatened the United States. “I don’t consider any Trump supporter to be a threat to the country,” Biden replied when asked by reporters.

“When people voted for Donald Trump and support him now, they weren’t voting for attacking the Capitol. They weren’t voting for overruling an election,” he backtracked. “They were voting for a philosophy that he put forward.”

Elsewhere:

Walking those comments back on Monday, he said: ‘I want to be very clear up front. Not every Republican is a MAGA Republican. Not every Republican embraces that extreme ideology. I know, because I’ve been able to work with mainstream Republicans my whole career.’

‘But the extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress have chosen to go backwards – full of anger, violence, hate and division,’ the president said. ‘But together, we can and must choose a different path: forward.’

That confusing and conciliatory tone only lasted so long. On Labor Day, Brandon again attacked American citizens who support Donald Trump and the America First agenda.

During his speech in Wisconsin on Monday, the president denounced the former president’s followers as ‘Trumpies’ and claimed politicians on the ‘extreme right’ of the GOP are ‘coming for your social security’ and destroying worker pensions …

And despite clarifying early on that ‘not every Republican is a MAGA Republican,’ he later painted the critic and his ilk as working to ‘destroy democracy.’

‘The biggest contrast from what MAGA Republicans, the extreme right…the Trumpies…is these MAGA Republicans in Congress are coming for your Social Security as well,’ Biden said.

Later, at a second event in Pittsburgh, Biden tore into MAGA once again, saying of Trump: ‘It’s clear which way he wants to look. It’s clear which way the new MAGA republicans are,’ calling them ‘very extreme.’

‘You can’t call yourself a democracy when you don’t count the votes that people legitimately cast,’ Biden said.

This is pure fearmongering. Notice that Brandon gave exactly zero examples of any of his accusations, with the only thing he might point to is January 6, which is so full of irregularities in how it occurred, and the extra-judicial treatment of what are really political prisoners in the Garland Archipelago.

Brandon is an undistinguished professional politician who accomplished nothing of note over 50 years in “public service.” Michael Walsh, whom you should read regularly, nails this evil man’s character.

After Joe Biden’s disgraceful speech last week —the worst and most deliberately provocative bully pulpit address in American history—many people have finally woken up to the very real threat threat [sic] of Leftist fascism (historically, there is no other kind) and its burning desire for civil war, and have begun asking themselves: what if this idiot is serious?

That Biden is, in fact, an idiot, is beyond dispute. For more than half a century this thoroughly nasty piece of work has been bullying, blustering, bragging, plagiarizing, insulting, sliming, and attacking his political enemies—which now apparently include anyone who opposes him and his criminal Anti-American Party—without any fear of reprisals whatsoever.

I wish I could write like that, but I’m proud to say that I’ve been calling the Democrats a criminal anti-American party for years.

Here’s where Walsh really gets to work on what motivates Brandon:

The fact is, Biden is Fredo Corleone without the wit, charm, or brains: “I can handle things. I’m smart. It’s not like everybody says, I’m dumb. I’m smart and I want respect.” He is Ubu Rex without the self-restraint, a Roman emperor who judging from the two Marines outrageously stationed behind him actually trusts his Praetorian Guard. Like another National Socialist who instantly comes to mind, he’s forever mad at the world for not recognizing his talent and his genius and will show us who’s boss or die trying.

That is exactly what Brandon is. A clueless egotist who postures for the camera but is, in reality, a cheap, empty suit.

But he’s a cheap, empty suit with the power of the state at his right hand. That’s what makes him so dangerous. And that’s what the majority of Americans are hopefully beginning to discover.

Joe Biden is a menace to society and to our country.

Walsh continues:

Make no mistake: despite Biden’s walk-back the next day—for members of Congress, words have no lasting meaning— this was an evil speech and tantamount to a declaration of war on both conservatives and a Republican Party that, however poorly, represents them. It should have been immediately been greeted with articles of impeachment by the hapless, cowardly, and contemptible GOP, but of course it wasn’t. Biden and Left have backed the Chicken Party into a corner, from which they cannot fight back without giving MSM credence to the charges he just laid against them.

Brandon can’t have it both ways. As I’ve written before, you have to take what these people say at face value, even if he “walks it back.” If he didn’t mean it, he shouldn’t have said it.

No, Bradon hates you if you’re a supporter of Donald J. Trump and of making America great again. He hates you if you’re an America-First American. He hates you if you question just how it was that the 2020 election was “fortified.” He hates you for your views and is trying to intimidate and silence you while motivating the true fascists in his own party to turn out and vote.

Remember, the majority of Americans think Brandon’s speech was “a threat to this country,” a “dangerous escalation,” and was “designed to incite conflict.” That includes a majority of both Republicans and Independents.

You must make yourself heard this November, which is only two months away—even if it’s just turning out to vote. And don’t forget that there are other ways to be involved.

Daily Broadside | Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Complains That Texas Governor Greg Abbott Is Not Biblically Based Enough

Daily Verse | Ezekiel 30:10-11
“‘I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt
by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
He and his army—the most ruthless of nations
will be brought in to destroy the land.'”

Tuesday’s Reading: Ezekiel 33-36

Tuesday and I hope you enjoyed a day off yesterday. I spent most of the afternoon trimming trees in my yard. It’s amazing how much can be culled out of trees year-after-year. I’m particularly pleased with a Fiskars 16′ extendable pole saw and pruner that I bought a couple of years ago. I thought Fiskars only made scissors—but they have a great line of yard tools!

I’ve got a couple of topics to choose from so I’m going to tackle one today and one tomorrow. Today’s is Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot’s complaints about Texas governor Greg Abbott busing illegal aliens to the city of Chicago, which Lightfoot claims is a “sanctuary city.”

Abbott has been busing illegal aliens to Washington, D.C., New York City and now, to Chicago, since Brandon is deliberately not guarding our borders or upholding established law concerning immigration in the United States. This is an impeachable offense, but we will never see him charged by impeachment-happy Malignancy Pelosi, who is a cancer on the body politic as much as Chuck “The Whirlwind” Schumer and Adam Schiff-for-Brains. These people will go down in American history as some of the most loathsome and evil national home wreckers to ever bear the title of Representative or Senator.

But I digress.

About a week ago the first illegal aliens arrived in Chicago from Texas. (Note that I am using the appropriate terminology, “illegal aliens,” which was A-OK up until about a minute ago when all the wokesters began complaining that “nobody is illegal.” Don’t let them shame you into not using that term. That’s what people who cross our borders illegally are: illegal aliens. They’re alien to our country and they’re here illegally.)

Here’s what Lightfoot had to say about the arrivals initially:

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has slammed Texas Governor Greg Abbott as ‘racist’ after he announced he would be bussing illegal migrants to the city.

Lightfoot, a Democrat, attacked the GOP governor despite repeatedly bragging that Chicago is a ‘sanctuary city’, as it witnessed the arrival of 60 people on Wednesday, August 30.

She said: ‘Chicago is a welcoming city and as such has collaborated across various departments and agencies to ensure we greeted them with dignity and respect …

‘Unfortunately, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is without and [sic] shame or humanity. But ever since he put these racist practices of expulsion in place, we have been working with our community partners to ready the city to receive these individuals.’

“Racist practices of expulsion.” Ah yes—see peasant, you shouldn’t be kicking illegal aliens out of your state; you should be keeping them there and greeting them “with dignity and respect.”

Funny that it’s somehow “racist” that people who invade our country illegally are greeted with a cross-country ticket to one of the world class American cities. Doesn’t sound too “racist” to me.

Here’s what Abbott said about it:

Abbott says he wants to give those Democrat-run cities a taste of what lax border policies are doing to towns in the Lone Star State …

He also called out Lightfoot, saying: ‘President Biden’s inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans-and Americans-at risk and is overwhelming our communities.

‘To continue to provide much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities…as an additional drop off location.

‘Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout the responsibility of her city to welcome all regardless of legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them.’

Nobody is giving me tickets for New York or Washington, D.C. Maybe I should fly to Mexico and traipse across the border. Then I could get a free ride to D.C.

Not that I’d want to go there.

But I want to focus on what Lightfoot said on Sunday about Abbott after another 50 illegal aliens landed in Chicago from Texas.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot cast doubt on Gov. Greg Abbott’s Christian faith in remarks denouncing the Texas Republican busing migrants from the southern border up to the Windy City.

“He professes to be a Christian,” Lightfoot said at a press conference on Sunday. “This is not the Christianity and the teachings of the Bible that I know. And I think religious leaders all across the country are standing up and denouncing exactly this.”

One has to wonder what “Christianity and the teachings of the Bible” she’s referring to. I watched her press conference so that you didn’t have to, and she doesn’t offer any more explanation than that. The mayor is a cohabitating lesbian, so her understanding of “Christianity and the teachings of the Bible” are sort of suspect to begin with.

But I think we can surmise what her thinking is. It’s very progressive and she gives clues in her remarks about Gov. Abbott. She has said:

“We know that racism, discrimination, and human cruelty have played a pivotal role in how immigrants are received within our borders, and we are still working to recover from the previous presidential administration, which encouraged this behavior,” the mayor’s office said of former President Donald Trump.

“This is such an important moment for Chicago as a city has been a sanctuary for thousands of newcomers. We are welcoming them and we will not turn our backs on those who need our help the most.

Also: At a news conference Thursday, Lightfoot called Abbott’s approach “racist and xenophobic” and said it added to the immigrants’ challenges.

We can infer that 1). Lightfoot thinks that Abbott’s policy is “racist” and that 2). she believes Abbott is “turning his back” on the illegal immigrants. This means that she thinks Abbott should keep the illegal immigrants there and give them help.

I’m sorry, but these are border jumpers who have illegally crossed into the United States. The proper thing to do is give them a sammich and send them back across the border because they and the nearly 5 million others who have crossed our border since Brandon became Resident has created a lawless situation.

“She said: ‘Chicago is a welcoming city and as such has collaborated across various departments and agencies to ensure we greeted them with dignity and respect.'”

More: “I think it’s decidedly unpatriotic and un-American,” she said. “I understand the pressures that the people of Texas and some of the other border states are under. We see that on a daily basis. But the thing to do is not this. This is creating a human crisis. And treating people without dignity, without respect, it’s not who we are as Americans.”

She believes Abbott is treating illegal immigrants without dignity or respect. Apparently, giving illegal aliens free transportation to a world class city that has repeatedly said they welcome illegal aliens is not treating them with enough dignity or respect.

And:

‘My frustration comes from the actions of the governor of Texas,’ she said at a press conference. She added that while she welcomes new residents, she takes issue with Abbott bussing migrants to her city – calling the policy inhumane.

‘There could be a level of coordination and cooperation, but he chooses to do none of those things. Instead, he chooses to send human beings across the country to an uncertain destination,’ Lightfoot asserted, ‘That’s unacceptable.’

Again, she declared: ‘He is manufacturing a human crisis, and it makes no sense to me.’

So illegal aliens, who didn’t get permission to enter our country, are being sent to “an uncertain destination.” Apparently, that’s a bad thing, since these illegal aliens weren’t certain where they were going to end up when they entered the United States and we don’t owe them anything. Is she suggesting that we should take their order and get them sent to wherever they want to go?

Here’s the answer to this inane question. When illegal aliens cross our border, they are subject to our laws. OUR LEADERS ARE SUPPOSED TO ENFORCE THE DULY ESTABLISHED LAWS. It’s not Abbott “manufacturing a human crisis,” it’s Brandon.

Lightfoot complains that Abbott isn’t coordinating or cooperating with her. Hey, Lori, what “level of coordination and cooperation” is Brandon choosing to do with Abbott and the leaders of the other border states?

God puts leaders and governors in a position of power for the benefit of the people they lead. They are to lead with righteousness, integrity and for the good of the people in the nation they lead. When they cease to do that, they are no longer fit to lead or to be in a position of power.

That’s what the Bible says, mayor Lightfoot.

Daily Verse | Ezekiel 23:29-30
“Your lewdness and promiscuity have brought this upon you, because you lusted after the nations and defiled yourself with their idols.”

Monday’s Reading: Ezekiel 29-32

Happy Labor Day!

Enjoy the day off and remember that “A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God” (Ecc. 2:24).

See you Tuesday.

Daily Verse | Ezekiel 16:3
“‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says to Jerusalem: Your ancestry and birth were in the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.'”

Saturday’s Reading: Ezekiel 24-28

Friday and the end of the week. Due to a previous engagement, I didn’t have the pleasure of watching Brandon’s televised political ad from Philadelphia’s Independence Hall last night. I did spend some time watching a few minutes of it and then reading the entire transcript on the White House website.

That means today’s post may look lazy, but the truth is there are a lot of people out there who are smarter than me who had a chance to watch Brandon’s dark warning, so I’m deferring to them.

Long on accusation, short on specifics, Brandon’s convention hall speech was an outrageous vilification of Americans whose only crime is voting Republican. What kind of “president” says what he just said about half the country?

Here’s some salient observations from many conservatives on Twitter who watched.

From Trump himself:

And finally:

Have a good weekend.

Thursday’s Reading: Ezekiel 16-19

Happy September. While I’ve always associated this month with fall, that season doesn’t start until September 23. I have noticed it’s getting cooler in the evenings where I live. I expect that we’ll have a few days of Indian summer into October.

We can still say that, right? “Indian summer”? Or do I get cancelled for doing that?

Eh, doesn’t matter. I’m in this for the long haul and I’ll say what I choose to say when I choose to say it. The only way the progressive Democrat Marxists can be defeated is by refusing to play along with them.

Of course, that will entail some pain and sacrifice on the part of us who are already excommunicado in our current society. It’s appalling to think that normal, hard-working, patriotic, God-fearing Americans are now being denounced as fascists by a cabal of interlopers who are, in fact, truly fascist.

“Turning Point USA” founder Charlie Kirk isn’t having it.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many options when it comes to responding to Brandon’s smearing half of America as “semi-fascist.” You can sit there and ignore it. You can wait it out and hope you can vote him and his lot out (and believe that will take care of it). Or you can square up and resist with retorts of the truth. Maybe a combination of voting and the truth.

What we’re seeing is a concerted effort to delegitimize Americans who vote Republican. I don’t know who Libby Emmons is, but she has a few quality paragraphs in this post over at Human Events.

Biden and his administration are framing out an ideological war which puts Democrats in possession of the “soul of the nation,” and paints conservatives as fascists, bigots and any other insult they can come up with. The goal is to try to seize the moral high ground, only they are doing it on behalf of butchers disguised as doctors, groomers disguised as academics, and racists disguised as equity professionals.

When Biden spoke to Democrats last week and proclaimed that conservatives and Trump supporters are semi-fascist, his handlers knew exactly what they were doing. When Biden was asked what he meant with the comment, he said “you know exactly what I mean,” leaving explanations to flow from the podium in the White House briefing room.

“We have seen MAGA republicans take away our rights, make threats of violence, including this weekend,” Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked about Louisiana Senator Lindsey Graham’s caution against prosecuting former President Donald Trump, “and that is what the president was referring to when you all asked me last week about the ‘semi-fascism’ comment”…

Using the term “fascist” is a language game designed to paint the opposition as something they are not, and obfuscate the fact that it has been Democrats in power that have repeatedly and consistently limited the rights of Americans. Charlie Kirk rightfully noted that Joe Biden is a fascist.

As I wrote yesterday, “The net effect of casting the Right as something they are not is to taint any countermoves as evidence of their “extremism.” The Marxists hold power and their mouthpieces in the media dutifully parrot whatever they are given, so they’re able to assert whatever they want.”

“And have it amplified,” I should have added. Here’s David Marcus at Fox News:

Let’s be clear, Biden did not call Trump a semi-fascist, he said it about the “MAGA philosophy” embraced by Trump’s voters. Fascism is a particularly dehumanizing accusation. Its root word, fasces, means a bundle of sticks, stronger together than separate, and in which each individual stick is indistinguishable from the whole. A blow against an individual fascist is a blow against fascism itself.

That is to say, once you identify someone as a fascist, they are as good a target for harassment or violence as any other person who shares their beliefs. Not only is harassing Justice Brett Kavanaugh, or swatting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene acceptable, so are attacks on your neighbor with the Trump flag on his truck...

In fact the fascist label is incredibly vague, a mishmash of Trump’s aggressive tone, the actions on Jan. 6 of a tiny, tiny fraction of American conservatives, and an increasing belief among progressives that to even question things like trans surgery for children or critical race theory in our classrooms makes one an unforgivable bigot.

Of course, the irony here is that an actual hallmark of 20th-century fascism was dehumanizing not just your political opposition, but the people themselves. How far a leap is it from saying I don’t want a conservative roommate, or date, or mechanic, to I think these people need to be silenced, punished or worse? History tells us that it is but a modest distance.

Biden is reading a teleprompter tonight at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where he’s to deliver a “speech” on the state of American democracy. I hate to keep bringing this up, but we’re not a democracy, so I’m unsure what he will be talking about, but here’s what the White House says:

[So-called ‘president’] Biden plans to deliver a prime-time address on democracy in the United States and “the continued battle for the soul of the nation,” a White House official told The Washington Post.

Biden is giving the speech at the same site where the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were debated and signed, and “will talk about the progress we have made as a nation to protect our democracy, but how our rights and freedoms are still under attack,” the official said. “He will make clear who is fighting for those rights, fighting for those freedoms, and fighting for our democracy.”

Hopefully, he’ll tuck in some comments about how he is the Great Unifier he promised to be — just as soon as we all abandon our conservative principles and come to see things his way.
