Daily Broadside | My Name Isn’t Alice And I Don’t Live In A Rabbit Hole

When gays and lesbians agitated for their “rights” to fornicate with others of the same sex without prosecution, they argued that it was nobody’s business what went on in the privacy of their own bedrooms. Once they got that, they argued that they weren’t represented in mainstream America and they couldn’t be discriminated against. So they began to show up holding hands in public and appearing in commercials as though it were the most natural thing in the world. Then they argued that they had the right to get married, along with all the benefits and privileges that came with that station in life. It didn’t “hurt” anybody, and they were the victims of oppression since marriage should be open to everybody. Love is love, right? And when the Supreme Court agreed, they demanded that Christians bake the cake, bigots!

Now the “T” people in the LGBTQANON+ conglomerate are arguing that they have the right to participate in life according to what they declare they are, not what their biological sex has determined that they are. Mostly men pretending to be women want to use the same bathrooms, go to the same prisons, and play the same sports as females.

This sickness is so pervasive that it has radically changed the nature of our culture to the point that a young woman speaking out of her “lived experience” (a favorite phrase of the cultural Marxists) is shut down at a public library for “misgendering” not anyone in particular, but in general, for talking about biological men participating in women’s sports.

This is delusional. We are not just sliding down the rabbit hole, but being forced to live there. And all of our natural rights, including the freedom of speech and of religion and of the right to assemble peacefully and to petition the goverment for a redress of grievances, are being subverted by irrational, specious, weak-minded anti-American cultural Marxists.

I, for one, will not play that game. You don’t get to have your own pronouns, you don’t get to decide you’re a “woman” and demand that I treat you as one if you’re a biological male. I live in reality, and I will not bend to the absurd.

As Christ followers, we cannot deny the truth, even it if causes someone to feel “unsafe” or they claim it’s an act of “violence” to misgender them.

This occurs at a public library, where all over the country drag performers are welcomed and given a platform to perform for the public — especially children. But when an organization that has a different viewpoint wants to use the public facility to share their story, they’re shut down.

Free speech for me, but not for thee.

If you can bear it, watch the whole surreal, nauseating thing.

This isn’t the America I knew.

Daily Broadside | Biblically Illiterate Politician Loves His Neighbor by Killing Her Baby

Daily Verse | Obadiah 15
“The day of the Lord is near
    for all nations.
As you have done, it will be done to you;
your deeds will return upon your own head.”

Wednesday’s Reading: Jonah 1-4

Well, it’s Wednesday and hump day. Hang in there if it’s a tough week—Friday’s coming.

It continues to surprise me how often national political leaders employ scripture in support of their agenda. On the one hand, I believe scripture ought to factor into policy decisions that affect the welfare of our citizens. On the other hand, scripture in the hands of the Left seems to be pressed into service for unholy purposes.

Newsom Quotes Jesus to Advertise Abortion in Pro-Life States

California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday cited the words of Jesus from Mark 12:31 in support of abortion, “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.” The billboard campaign advertises California abortion in seven pro-life states — Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Texas.

The advertisements are paid for by Newsom’s reelection campaign, and Newsom tweeted the ads at the respective governors of those states from his personal account, presumably because he understands that the campaign is nothing but a political gimmick unworthy to be funded by California’s overburdened taxpayers.

If Newsom was aiming to cause a reaction, he succeeded. While the billboard campaign itself is unremarkable political grandstanding, invoking the words of Jesus to defend abortion provokes a refutation. Newsom understands that most of abortion’s fiercest critics are Christians. So he chooses to promote abortion in the words of the very same Son of God who “Morning Joe” Scarborough insisted on September 9 “never once mentioned” abortion.

My reaction to the Joe Scarborough misuse of scripture is here. In that commentary, I lay out the value that the Bible—and Jesus himself—place on children.

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
    offspring a reward from him.

Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
— Psalm 127:3-4

As the author of the linked article says, Newsom’s use of scripture isn’t any better than Scarborough’s. He’s taking Jesus’ words to mean that giving a pregnant woman an abortion is “loving your neighbor.”

But is it?

It all hinges on whether the life in the womb is a child or not. Women’s rights advocates, Planned Parenthood administrators, abortion doctors and progressive Democrats will swear it isn’t a child. It is a “mass” or a “clump of cells” or, maybe, among the most extreme of those who support abortion, they will admit it’s a baby but insist the mother has the right to terminate its life.

On the other hand, pro-life advocates will insist that the life growing in the mother’s womb is, indeed, a human being. From a Christian’s point of view, there’s no question that the fetus is a person from the point of conception, made in the image of God and worthy of protection. Even an obscure verse from the book of Job (3:3) confirms it:

“May the day of my birth perish,
and the night that said, ‘A boy is conceived!’”

If the fetus is a human being, then it is absolutely wrong to kill it. The sixth of ten commandments says, “Thou shalt not commit murder,” which is the intentional taking of an innocent life.

You can’t get more innocent than a baby in utero.

Circling back to the use of Mark 12:31, then, Newsom is infusing the verse with an incorrect application. Yes, we are to love our neighbor, but not while violating another commandment.

What his use of the scripture amounts to is a cynical swipe at Christians, twisting one scripture verse taken out of context to mock their concerns for the unborn.

Without being alarmist, Newsom might want to reconsider how he’s using the Bible. Elsewhere it says,

Woe to those who call evil good
    and good evil
,
who put darkness for light
    and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
    and sweet for bitter.
— Isaiah 5:20

Daily Broadside | High School Teacher: “I Have 180 Days To Turn You Into Revolutionaries”

Daily Verse | Ezekiel 18:23
“Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?”

Happy Friday, my friends! I’m thinking of opening a shop in Wyoming called “Spur of the Moment” for impulsive cowboys.

After firing Broadside after Broadside about the disaster in Afghanistan over the last couple of weeks, I’m sure you’re probably wondering if I know that other things are happening in the world. I do, but the appalling and unnecessary (but intentional) failure in Afghanistan is so beyond the pale that it warranted the emphasis.

C.S. Lewis defined integrity as “doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” Unfortunately, you can’t trust cultural Marxists to do the right thing when no one is looking — you have to set up a sting to catch them. Project Veritas is phenomenal at setting up stings to reveal what the people in positions of power are doing behind the scenes.

Their latest example is of a high school teacher “boasting about politically indoctrinating his students at Inderkum High School.” Gabriel Gipe, who teaches an Advanced Placement Government class, told the interviewer, “I have 180 days to turn [students] into revolutionaries.”

Watch for yourself on the Project Veritas site.

I encourage you to watch the whole thing, which will be troubling for any parent who entrusts their impressionable children to the public school system. In particular, listen to two things that the overly tattooed Antifa Marxist says.

“I have an Antifa flag on my [classroom] wall and a student complained about that — he said it made him feel uncomfortable. Well, this [flag] is meant to make fascists feel uncomfortable, so if you feel uncomfortable, I don’t really know what to tell you. Maybe you shouldn’t be aligning with the values that this [flag] is antithetical to.”

See what he did there?

He replaced what we would consider a culture norm, i.e. “the values” the Antifa flag opposes (such as capitalism, hard work, personal responsibility and traditional morality and faith) with the values that the Antifa flag stands for (such as socialism, diversity, equity and “just do it” atheism). In other words, he’s telling the student that Antifa values are the norm, and if the student is uncomfortable with that, the student should think about changing his values. It’s the student who is off, not the teacher.

This is clearly indoctrination and the guy has no business whatsoever indoctrinating the kids he has in his classroom into his personal ideology. That’s not what he’s getting paid with taxpayer dollars to do.

The second thing to pay attention to is when he says, “There are three other teachers in my department that I did my credential program with — and they’re rad. They’re great people. They’re definitely on the same page.

The school is infested with teachers who think like Mr. Gipe does.

That probably shouldn’t surprise us, but it does because we still don’t understand that the Left has been infiltrating our cultural institutions for decades, and now their “long march” is bearing its poisonous fruit. We’re naïve to think that the public schools are still teaching reading, writing and arithmetic or that teachers like Mr. Gipes are the exception.

They’re not. For instance, watch this.

Of course there are good teachers out there and of course kids are still learning some of the basics. But you only have to look at international educational surveys to see how far down the list the U.S. has fallen.

Back to Mr. Gipe. He has been placed on unpaid leave as a precursor to being terminated by the school. The Project Veritas video created an uproar in the community.

At the intense Natomas Unified School Board meeting Wednesday evening, parents showed up in droves demanding justice for their children, demanding the teacher be fired, and even demanding criminal prosecution.

Video of furious parents at the Natomas school board meeting is available, before the board took a recess during the meeting, came back, took another recess, and then disappeared out the back door before the meeting ended, according to several parents.

It was apparent the school board did not have control over the emotional board meeting.

They didn’t have control? Good, it’s about time they didn’t have control. And it’s about time parents got involved in the school districts, replacing these woke and weasely school boards with parents who will fight the junior commies.

Another parent told the board, “this does not begin and end with him… this went on for years. Complaints were filed and nothing was done.” The parent asked for a full investigation to root this out, not just at Inderkum High School, but in the entire district. “Without warning, my daughters Constitutional Law class was changed to a Social Justice class,” he added.

“Complaints were filed and nothing was done.” That about sums up our entire educational and political institutions. Parents and concerned citizens have to be willing to step up and begin going on the offensive against the radical Left to eject them from their positions of influence.

That’s the only way that we can trust teachers and politicians to do the right thing when no one is looking.

We are a people under siege in our own country, led by a cabal of overt Marxists who hate the United States of America as envisioned by our Founders and are doing everything they can to wrest power away from We the People and hoard it unto themselves.

We need to wrest it back.

Have a good weekend.
