Daily Broadside | The Lying Liars Know We Know They’re Lying And They Don’t Care

Daily Verse | Mark 7:8
“You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.”

Friday’s Reading: Mark 8-10
Saturday’s Reading: Mark 11-13

Friday and the end of another week. When we reconnect on Monday, we’ll be on the back half of October already.

One of the reasons I loathe the Democrats is their propensity for lying. It reminds me of what Jesus said about the devil: “When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). Lying comes as naturally to Democrats as breathing.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas backed up the Biden administration’s narrative last year that Border Patrol agents whipped Haitian migrants even after he knew the narrative was false, according to emails obtained by the Heritage Foundation and reported by Fox News.

DHS assistant secretary Marsha Espinosa alerted Mayorkas on Sept. 24, 2021, to a news article that said the photographer who took the images did not see any whips. “Espinosa highlighted the comments from the photographer where he directly says he did not witness any whipping,” Fox noted.

Mayorkas that same day nevertheless decided to join a Biden administration press conference that pushed the debunked narrative, and he even went so far as to call the images “horrifying” and an example of “systemic racism.” President Joe Biden, meanwhile, made a whipping motion with his hand as he said the photographs depicted “people being strapped.”

This isn’t an “unforced error” or some innocent misinterpretation of photographs. This was a deliberate hoax employed to reinforce and further the narrative that the US is irredeemably racist. As the NY Post puts it, Mayorkas must go: He smeared border agents despite knowing they hadn’t whipped migrants.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has to go. In a bombshell revelation, the Heritage Foundation obtained emails showing his own staff told him last year that reports of border agents whipping migrants near Del Rio, Texas, were false — before he went to the White House and publicly smeared his own agents as racists anyway.

Mayorkas flat-out lied. Just two hours after being informed the very photographer who captured the viral Sept. 19, 2021, pictures of mounted Border Patrol officers confronting Haitian migrants said no whipping occurred, he declared: “Our nation saw horrifying images that do not reflect who we are. We know that those images painfully conjured up the worst elements of our nation’s ongoing battle against systemic racism.”

This is an impeachable offence. We can’t have a peaceable and ordered society when those in charge deliberately corrupt the truth.

But as an executive I once worked for said, “Speed of the leader, speed of the team.” Here’s Brandon flat-out lying that we aren’t in a recession even though we are very clearly in a recession.

He and his whole illegitimate administration are trying to gaslight their way through the miserable state of affairs they’ve forced on the whole nation.

Let’s not forget his fabulism over his son Beau. President Biden incorrectly told an audience in Colorado on Wednesday that his late son Beau “lost his life in Iraq.” His son died in May 2015 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

His entire Residency is a lie. 81 million votes, the most ever in history, for this shambling poser!

Right.

It’s no wonder that trust in our government is now below 50 percent across all three branches of government.

A recent Gallup poll shows that less than 50% of Americans have trust in either of the three branches of government — President, Congress, Supreme Court — and that this marks the “first time that none of the three branches is trusted by a majority of Americans” …

For the Judicial Branch, 47% said they had trust in the institution; the Executive Branch only earned 43% trust; and only 38% of those surveyed said they had trust in the Legislative Branch.

This isn’t the sole doing of the Democrats; Republicans rightly share blame for the lack of trust in our government. But the Democrats are shamelessly lying and don’t even try to hide it anymore.

We see what you’re doing. You know we see what you’re doing. And we know that you know that we know.

Why do we put up with this?

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | Oh Noes! AOC And Illy Omar Are Arrested And (Not) Taken Away in Handcuffs!

Daily Verse | Ecclesiastes 4:4
And I saw that all labor and all achievement spring from man’s envy of his neighbor.

Wednesday’s Reading: Ecclesiastes 7-12

It’s Wednesday and if you’ve been reading my posts long enough you’ll know that I believe that the Democrats lie as naturally as breathing. Of them it could be said, like Jesus said of the devil, “When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44).

I know that sounds uncharitable, but I’ve long documented the lies that Democrats and progressives tell, so don’t shush me by complaining that not all Democrats lie or that some conservatives and Republicans lie. Yes, they do. But that doesn’t change the fact that the Democrats and their progressive shock troops lie like a rug.

Trump is a Russian agent! If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor! Those border agents whipped those migrants! We only have <insert preferred number> years to save the planet!

And on and on it goes.

The latest example is of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar being arrested for blocking traffic outside the Supreme Court while protesting the recent Roe v. Wade decision. It’s not a lie that they were arrested, but it is a lie that either one of them were handcuffed.

But they posed as if they were handcuffed while being arrested.

Nobody walks like she was walking with their hands behind their back if they aren’t handcuffed. It’s unnatural. Yet notice that at the end of the clip she raises her fist to acknowledge the crowd and then puts it right back where it was behind her.

Then there’s Ilhan Omar who apparently arrested herself.

Omar gets up from where she was sitting and, without a police escort, she walks herself away with her hands behind her back in imaginary cuffs.

Note that, just like AOC, she also raises her fist (just as the clip ends).

AOC and Omar lied about being handcuffed.

Why? For the photo op, of course. And the legacy media gives them exactly what they want. Notice the text of the tweet above: “under arrest and in handcuffs.”

No, they weren’t.

But that doesn’t stop the MSM from complying. Note the images below.

It sure LOOKS like they’re in handcuffs. How stunning! How brave!

The media—that independent, free press that is supposed to keep the government in check—supports them in their deceit. They don’t call them out for their acting. They’re in cahoots with the Dems.

These two women are lying, giving the false impression that they are in handcuffs, when in fact neither of them are. But this is stock-in-trade for Democrats. It’s all smoke and mirrors, deception and misdirection, a stunt, a little drama. They are agitators and for them, the ends justifies the means.

Just like the rest of their miserable tribe.

This is a perfect example of why nobody trusts the media, and why nobody should trust the Democrats.

Daily Broadside | All Lies Create Alternate Realities for the Victims

Daily Verse | 2 Kings 12:15
They did not require an accounting from those to whom they gave the money to pay the workers, because they acted with complete honesty.

Monday’s Reading: 2 Kings 15-17

It’s Monday, the day after the holiest day of the Christian calendar: Easter Sunday. It’s the most important day to Christians because, as Paul says, if Christ has not been raised, we’re still in our sins and our faith is futile.

Futile. Worthless. Useless. Pointless. That candid admission is one reason I believe scripture. I am unaware of any other faith that allows that if their central claim is untrue, the entire belief system collapses.

I hope those of you who follow Christ marked the occasion with joy and celebration, and I hope those of you who are still undecided remain curious about the claim that Jesus defeated death. If that claim is true, it means everything to you now and for eternity. You can always write me at info@daveolsson.com and I’ll happily answer your questions or point you to resources that can.

While in seminary, studying for my MDiv., I took a course from one of the more popular professors on campus who was also very pastoral. By “pastoral” I mean that he cared about people, he seemed wise, and he had a good-natured, grandfatherly affect about him.

During one class, he said something about the nature of truth and to this day, try as I might, I cannot remember his exact words. I even asked him to repeat what he said so that I could write it down, but even he couldn’t remember exactly what he had just said. In the moment the words were profound, and I’ve often tried to recall them, but they just aren’t there—so what I’m about to write is (most likely) a poor approximation of what he actually said.

The gist of it was this: When someone lies, they alter the reality of the person to whom they lied. In other words, when someone receives a lie as the truth, they are living with a distorted understanding of what is, in fact, real, courtesy of the liar. They live as though the lie is the truth.

Lying is so abhorrent to me that it was one of two non-negotiable rules that we held for our kids: you may not defy us, and you may not deceive us. We wanted them to respect authority and the truth.

Now we know that our children did not always tell us the truth (and they did not always obey our direction)—but then, neither did I always tell the truth and neither did I always respect authority. It’s part of the nature of unredeemed mankind and even after repenting, it’s a process of learning to live the truth no matter what.

The reasons for lying are numerous, but often they have to do with gaining an advantage over someone or avoiding responsibility for something, both being motivated by pride. Lying can get us more power or more money or more attention; it can also help us avoid humiliation or the consequences of our actions.

One of our maxims was, “Little people, little problems. Big people, big problems.” When children lie, the consequences are (almost) always small.

Parent: Did you make mommy a pretty drawing on the wall with markers?

3-year-old: No.

Parent: Why is there marker on your hands?

3-year-old: I don’t know.

But the bigger they get, the bigger the consequences of a lie can be.

The Lie: “Cigarette smoking is no more ‘addictive’ than coffee, tea, or Twinkies.”

The Truth: “Nicotine is a highly addictive chemical compound present in a tobacco plant.”

The Consequences: “Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States, including more than 41,000 deaths resulting from secondhand smoke exposure. This is about one in five deaths annually, or 1,300 deaths every day.”

The Lie: There is an epidemic of white police officers killing unarmed black suspects.

The Truth: “In 2019 police officers fatally shot 1,004 people, most of whom were armed or otherwise dangerous. African-Americans were about a quarter of those killed by cops last year (235), a ratio that has remained stable since 2015 … In 2018, the latest year for which such data have been published, African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and commit about 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population.

That’s why there’s a disproportionate number of encounters with police. In addition, “white officers appear to be no more likely to use lethal force against minorities than non-white officers.”

The Consequences: “Mostly peaceful riots” over George Floyd’s death caused more than $2 billion dollars in damages, killed at least 15 people, and injured more than 700 officers.

The Lie: Gas prices are so high because of Putin’s war in Ukraine.

The Truth: “[Biden] canceled pipelines, restricted drilling on government lands and waters, and tightened regulations on oil and gas producers.” Also, “Gasoline prices climbed 48.3% between Biden’s inauguration and Putin’s invasion.”

The Consequences: “As of April 14, average prices for regular gasoline range from a low of $3.64 in Missouri to a whopping high of $5.72 in California, according to the national motor club AAA. The national average was $4.07, a 42% increase from last year.” Brandon pretends that the high cost of gas is out of his hands. It’s a lie and we’re literally paying the price for his deception.

There’s so many more lies that I could cite: Hunter’s laptop; Hillary’s illegal server; that men can be women; that January 6 was an insurrection; that 1619 is the true founding of America; that white supremacy is the biggest threat we face … and on and on and on.

We’ve come to accept that lying is part and parcel of politics. Why? Why shouldn’t we demand that our leaders are honest? At least we could make informed decisions. As it is, those lies distort reality and the results are what we’re living with today.

Maybe someday we’ll get lucky, and all of our political leaders will be forced to tell the truth, like Fletcher Reede (Jim Carrey) in Liar Liar, who is under a truth curse and cannot lie.

While I doubt we’d get that, I’d settle for workers who “acted with complete honesty.”

See you tomorrow.
