Daily Broadside | Rematch: Trump says of Biden, “The whole world is blowing up under him.”

I’m going to try doing something I haven’t, which is to watch the debate and react in real time to what I’m seeing and hearing. Things I’m going to be watching for: Tapper and Bash debating Trump instead of letting him speak for himself; Tapper and Bash framing their questions for Trump with hostility instead of a studied detachment; seeing what kind of questions they toss to Biden (hardball or softball? relevant or irrelevant?); watching for Biden to start strong, then start slurring his schpeesh and getting his facts wrong; hoping Trump doesn’t just attack Biden but puts some solid policy solutions out there that will benefit all Americans but especially the white, working middle class that neither the Republicans nor the Democrats care about anymore; and listening for Trump to announce his vice-presidential pick. It better not be Nimrata Nikki Randhawa Haley.

My notes will be in descending order with some general thoughts at the end.

First question on the economy, and Biden blames Trump for what he “inherited.” Biden is already slurring. He sounds groggy. Trump: we had the greatest economy in the history of the U.S. Got us out of Covid mess; we had a great stock market; inflation is killing us.

Trump slams Biden for taking credit for “bounce back jobs” as proof of a great economy. That’s true; he’s counting jobs that were lost during Covid.

Tax cuts: Trump, with trillion dollar deficits, why should there be tax cuts? “Because tax cuts spur the economy.” “We took in more revenue with less tax.” We have the liquid gold right under our feet, oil and gas.

Biden: Trump had the largest national debt; then he says, “I’m going to fix the tax system.” Biden was in the Senate for 50 years and in the presidency for three and never did anything to fix the tax system. He’s gonna start now?

Biden just choked.

Trump is bashing Biden over immigration. (Trump hammered Biden on the open border all debate.)

Roe v Wade: Trump: I got abortion back to the states. Everybody wanted it back to the states. SCOTUS approved the abortion pill and Trump agrees with the decision. They blocked implementation of Iowa’s ban. Trump believes in exceptions to bans on abortion. We’ve gotten it back to the states.

Trump takes credit for “three great justices”, but that’s not really true; they’re not all “great.” Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh aren’t reliable conservatives. Just look at the censorship decision that ACB wrote this week. It’s an attack on 1A.

Biden: the idea that states should rule on abortion is ridiculous, like turning “civil rights” back to the states. He also complains that it was the law for 51 years. Yes, but it was a terrible decision and SCOTUS can overturn previous decisions.

Seven states have no legal restriction on abortion; does Biden support any restrictions? Biden keeps going to back to Roe v. Wade, which is no longer law. He promises to bring Roe v. Wade back. Biden is scare-mongering about what Trump will do if elected.

Immigration: to Biden: why should voters trust you to solve the crisis? “I’ve changed the law …” You bet he has. He makes it sound like he’s improving things but he wrecked what Trump had in place and opened the border.

Trump: “We had the safest border at the end of my administration. All he had to do was leave it.” Now we have the worst border in history.

You will conduct the largest deportation in history? How? Trump ignores question and hammers Biden on immigration.

Biden refers to his son dying from exposure to burn pits in Iraq. A tired trope.

Trump seems to be triggering Biden. I thought it would be the other way around. Biden is a nasty piece of work.

Russia/Ukraine: Are Putin’s terms acceptable to Trump? Trump hammers Biden on Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, refers to Afghanistan and the disaster it was.

Trump: “The whole world is blowing up under him.” Great quote and good for pointing it out.

Putin’s terms are not acceptable to Trump.

Trump seems to be benefiting from the format. It’s kept him focused and disciplined.

Middle East: Hamas attacks Israel: five Americans held hostage.

Does anyone else notice that Biden’s eyes look almost black?

January 6th: did Trump violate his oath? Trump avoids the question but blames Pelosi for the chaos and points out the recent video of her admitting she was responsible.

Great contrast between Biden and Trump on January 6. Biden thinks all the J6 prisoners deserve what they got.

Is Biden listening to someone? He touches his ear, then writes notes. Watch his eyes.

Biden is hammering Trump with a bunch of lies. Trump doesn’t get rattled … holds up great.

“There are fine people on both sides.” Biden repeats the lie that has been debunked. Even by Snopes.

Biden is losing it. Trump is getting under his skin.

To Biden: black families earn less than white families. What will you do to help? Biden is struggling in his answer. Hard to understand. He just admitted that inflation is hurting black families badly. He’s going to give blacks a $10,000 tax credit when they buy a house.

Trump is hammering Biden on inflation again. Biden: the economy was flat on its back … that’s why there was no inflation when I got it. So he admits there was no inflation when he became president.

All they are doing is hurling accusations at each other.

Climate crisis. “Extreme heat.” Will Trump do anything to combat climate crisis? Trump goes back to police and blacks and Hispanics. Yes, Trump wants “absolutely clean water and air.”

Biden’s repeated words are “damn” and “the idea.” And numbering his points.

Biden goes after the rich to “pay their fair share.” Along with giving blacks a $10,000 tax credit, he’s doing a bang up job dividing us.

Biden is running his sentences together.

Trump accuses Biden of being a liar. He is.

Biden credits “the fastest growing economy in the world” to immigrants. What a doofus.

Trump goes back to immigration and open borders.

Trump blows off making childcare costs more affordable.

Biden says 159 experts voted Trump the worst president in history. Nana-nana-boo-boo.

Trump regularly ignores the questions and speaks to his own topics.

What will Trump do about drug addiction? Close the border to stop drugs and trafficked women. “We need the machines,” to detect fentynal, Joe says. No, we need to close the border, Joe.

Age questions: Biden will be age 86 at end of term. I’ve spent half of my life in politics. Once the youngest, now the oldest. And he’s done nothing good in all that time except enrich himself.

To Trump: you’ll be 82 at the end of your second term. I’m in good health, mentally and physically. He challenges Joe to play golf with him. Biden boasts about being a six handicap.

What the hell did Biden just say about Trump’s health? They’re getting out of control. Only time in the debate the moderators almost lost control.

To Trump: will you accept the outcome of the election? Violence is unacceptable. If the election is fair and free … I wish Biden was a great president because I wouldn’t be here right now. “Stupid decisions” … if it’s a fair and legal election, I’ll absolutely to accept the results.

Biden accuses Trump of being a “whiner.” Biden sounds like a junior high school mean girl taunting the normal girls.

Trump: Biden does nothing. He says things but does nothing. Nobody respects Biden. Trump touts what he did, like “right to try.” We’re a failing nation. It will be great again.

My summary: The moderators get a passing grade. Trump mopped the floor with Biden. Trump demonstrated some verbal discipline. I think Trump benefitted from the format more than did Biden. He was forced to let Biden hang himself. Trump is very believable, unlike Brandon, who trotted out the old and tired talking points of “Charlottesville-fine-people-on-both-sides” (fully debunked), and reference to his son Beau who died of brain cancer after being exposed to burn pits in Iraq (correlation does not equal causation). Biden came off as a poser who fakes his anger and plays the tough guy that nobody believes he is. He slurred his speech, stuttered, mumbled several times. Trump was short on specifics with his policies and boasted here and there about what he would do as president or what would or wouldn’t have happened if he was still president. Trump avoided directly answering several questions. I don’t like that he accepts exceptions for abortion laws, but I can live with it.

A lot of Dems are panicking and there are lots of commentators who believe Biden will be replaced. I’m beginning to believe it myself.

Lots to contemplate this weekend. Have a good one.

Daily Broadside | The Straw Man Argument for Banning Plastic Straws

I’m back after a week of R&R. Spent a good part of the time studying for a sermon I’m giving in July. The other part was spent on the beach with the Lovely and eating out here and there. To ease back into the blog as I anticipate the presidential debate tonight, I thought I’d give a mini-rant on something I encountered during my travels.

We ate at two restaurants that served good food but ruined the experience because neither would serve a straw with my drink. The first was a pizzeria run by authentic Italian immigrants. When I asked for a straw, the server said they don’t offer straws but that I could purchase a reusable one for $1, a skinny silver metal one. I declined but expressed my disappointment. I should’ve taken them up on the offer because it got worse.

The second restaurant was a seafood place called Sharky’s. It wasn’t until I was seated and getting ready to order that I saw the notice on the table:

“Straw free,” but they would sell me one for $2. Ouch. Twice as much as the pizzeria.

Notice a couple of things about the advert. First, the image is of a turtle with a straw through its nose. You know what that’s a reference to? A video that went viral in 2015 after a graduate student at Texas A&M University went to Costa Rica to study Ridley sea turtles for her doctoral dissertation. While there, she and her colleagues came across a male sea turtle that had a straw embedded up its nostril. Here’s what they filmed:

That video went viral, initially racking up 5.5 million views. The shortened version above has 86 million views. A longer version has 110 million views. It got so much air time that there was an international outcry and an effort to ban single-use plastic straws that had already started (the link is to BBC.com, so know that a click gives support to a progressive site) was given a much-needed boost.

I had questions after being denied my straws. How many sea turtles have had the misfortune of getting a plastic straw up their nose? Is there an epidemic of sea turtles or other sea creatures being harmed by plastic straws?

And after watching the video I wondered, Is that even a straw? I mean, look at it:

Yes, it’s long and skinny, but it’s also flat and twisted and bent and doesn’t even look like a straw. I had assumed that it was a straw because I was told it was a straw.

But is it?

I found someone else who had the same question and did more research than I have. Here’s what he said.

What is clear from this conversation is that they were not at all sure what the object was and eventually decided it was plastic. What test did they perform to come to that conclusion? They bit on it. That is the only “evidence” they used to come to their conclusion. What do you think about that? How strong would you say that evidence is?

As a scientist, I can tell you that biting materials is not a valid test. In order to be sure what a material is we do proper scientific tests like infrared spectroscopy. These people never did any analysis even when the samples were taken back to land. That means that there is zero evidence that the object was plastic. If this video were presented in court, it would the thrown out as “hearsay”, i.e. gossip.

The other conclusion they came to was that the object was a straw. What did they base that on when moments earlier they thought it was a worm? A friend of mine wrote and asked them how they knew it was a straw and this is their reply.

“Thank you kindly for reaching out. I can confirm that we did not run any chemical tests to 100% confirm the nature of the “straw”. I doubt that it is surgical PVC or anything similar, although I think there is a slim possibility that it could be electrical wire insulation..”

So, there we have it. They confirm that they have zero evidence that it was plastic and they are not sure that it was a straw either. Over 100 million people think that there was a turtle with a plastic straw up it’s nose when in fact there’s no evidence that it ever happened.

OK, it was something in the turtle’s nose and they postulate that it was a straw. What about the rate of incidents of sea turtles with straws up their noses?

Two very large studies have looked at the effect of human activity on turtle deaths and the results are presented in the table. [I did not include table here. DLO] It is evident that plastic straws are not a threat to turtles. In fact, there was not a single mention of straws, bags or other household plastic items in the list.

If our goal is to protect turtles, then focusing on straws is nothing but a distraction. There are clear actions that can be taken that would actually help turtles but no-one thought to check the evidence to see what they are.

Scientific studies on mortalities of whales and birds show the real threats to those animals and the words “plastic” “straw” or “bag” do not appear even once.

In addition to that, you know who the biggest polluters are when it comes to plastics in the oceans? Asia, which includes India and the Philippines and China.

81% of ocean plastics are emitted from Asia. The fact that a disproportionate amount of plastic pollution comes from Asia is consistent with previous research. Earlier studies estimated its share in 2010 was 86%.5

This should also not surprise us given the fact that Asia is the world’s most populous region (home to 60% of the world population); plus all of the top ten emitting rivers were in Asia (Philippines, India, and Malaysia), and most of the top 50. Africa was responsible for 8%; South America for 5.5%; North America for 4.5%; and Europe and Oceania combined were less than 1%.

North America emits 4.5 percent of ocean plastics and the United States contributes just a quarter of 1 percent of the ocean’s plastics.

Not even half a percent.

So, here I am, sitting in two different restaurants, being denied a plastic straw because of an isolated incident alleging a turtle had a straw up its nose that isn’t even proven to have happened and, even if it did, it is highly unlikely that straw came from the U.S.

ARE WE OUT OF OUR MINDS?!?

To add insult to injury, while both restaurants proudly claimed to be “straw free,” they would gladly sell me a “reuseable” straw. I see. So you won’t give me a straw, but you’ll sell me a straw?

You capitalist pigs.

How can you claim to be “straw free” but sell so-called “reuseable” straws to your customers? You’re not “straw free.” You’re a virtue-signaling establishment denying a simple, customary service to your clients while making a moral judgment about them and embellishing your own superiority while charging them for the privilege of sipping their cold drink.

All to combat a non-existant problem.

I think what irks me most about the “straw free” people is that it’s based on nothing but a video that drives an emotional—not a rational—over-the-top response. I’m not opposed to taking care of the environment, but I am opposed to nonsensical decisions that force me to comply with idiotic dictates that achieve nothing.

See you tomorrow after the debate.

Daily Broadside | CNN Stunned By Trump’s Performance Among Black Voters in “A Historic Moment”

I’m traveling over the next week; I’ll try and post from the road, but it will probably be sporadic.

What could possibly be causing blacks to flee the Democrat plantation?

Trump has significantly shrunk his deficit with President Joe Biden among black Americans in the six battleground states, with the current president leading the former president 70% to 18%, a May New York Times/Siena College poll found. Enten, on “CNN News Central,” was stunned by how Trump is performing with black Americans as a Republican candidate, as well as how unpopular Biden is becoming with these voters.

“I keep looking for this to change, to go back to a historical norm and it, simply put, has not yet. So this is the margin, or, Biden and Trump among black voters, compare where we were at this point in 2020, compare to where we are now. At this point, look at this. In 2020, Joe Biden was getting 86% of the African American vote. Look at where it is now. It’s 70%, that’s a 16-point drop, John,” Enten told host John Berman. “And more than that, it’s not just that Joe Biden is losing ground. It’s that Donald Trump is gaining ground. You go from 7%, single-digits at this point in 2020, to now 21% and again, John, I keep looking for signs that this is going to go back to normal and I don’t see it yet in the polling of anything right now. We’re careening towards a historic performance for a Republican presidential candidate, the likes of which we have not seen in six decades.”

I mean, besides the fact that Democrats are replacing blacks with their new besties—third-world foreign invaders—I cAn’T uNDeRstAnD wHy! It’s a true mystery!

Enten told Berman that Biden is not losing as many older black voters, but is hemorrhaging the youth.

[…]

“Look at black voters under the age of 50,” the data reporter continued. “Holy cow, folks, holy cow. Look at this. Joe Biden was up by 80 points among this group back at this point in 2020, look at where that margin has careened down towards. It’s now just, get this, 37 points. That lead has dropped by more than half, Mr. Berman. I’ve just never seen anything like this. I’m like speechless because you always look at history and you go, ‘okay, this is a historic moment.’ If this polling is anywhere near correct, we’re looking at a historic moment right now, where black voters under the age of 50, which have historically been such a big part of the democratic coalition, are leaving in droves.”

Democrats have taken the black vote for granted since the 1960s. They’ve spent trillions fighting the “War on Poverty” which has done nothing for those trapped in the economic wastelands called the inner cities. The Dems are the party of the KKK. They’re the ones who fund Planned Parenthood, which targets predominantly low income black communities, decimating the black family and keeping single mothers dependent on welfare.

Under Trump, blacks were better off.

I closed yesterday’s post by writing, “pray that enough Democrats and Independents defect to Trump that even with cheating, the Dems can’t overcome the margin of victory.” This is the kind of movement I was hoping for.

Daily Broadside | The Democrats Have Cheated, Are Cheating, And Will Cheat Again This November

A belated Happy Father’s Day to those readers who are blessed with children. I had a nice day with the Mrs. and a couple of the littles.

So conservatives and other Normals have held that the 2020 election was stolen, that the Democrats rigged the voting and that thousands of ballots were invalid. We later discovered that the election was “fortified” by “a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information.” Read: to prevent the people’s choice from becoming president. We saw the trucks pull up and unload boxes of ballots; we saw Democrats kick out poll watchers of the opposition party; we saw ballot collection boxes being stuffed.

And now in states like Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin, the truth is starting to come out and people are starting to be prosecuted for voting irregularities. Here’s just one example of what is being found and reported:

The truth is, we were right. The 2020 election was a fraud and we ended up with a withered, mean old man who can barely function on his own and is implementing policies that are destroying the United States of America, the worst of which is allowing the flood of unvetted foreigners over the southern border.

Besides the terrorists who have been invited in by the Biden crime family and junta, we now learn that the child-sniffing fabulist is getting ready to unilaterally grant amnesty to some 1.1 million foreigners illegally living in the U.S.

President Biden has hinted that more liberal moves on immigration could be coming in the weeks ahead, and reports suggest that, in response to left-wing pressure on the issue, he is considering a deportation shield for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants already in the U.S.

[…]

“Today, I have spoken about what we need to do to secure the border.  In the weeks ahead — and I mean the weeks ahead — I will speak to how we can make our immigration system more fair and more just,” he said on Tuesday.

Multiple outlets have since reported that the White House is considering a “parole in place” move to apply for illegal immigrant spouses of U.S. citizens. Parole in place is already being used in one year increments for family members of U.S. military members and protects them from deportation and grants them a work permit. The New York Times reported that the program for spouses could include the ability for some spouses to gain a pathway to citizenship, but those details are still not clear.

This is just a step closer to what the Democrats really want with the open border: new Democrat voters who can provide a voter-proof majority to keep the anti-American Marxists perpetually in power. And now we find that these foreigners who have crashed our border and live illegally among us have been being given voter registration forms across the U.S.

Welfare offices and other agencies in 49 US states are providing voter registration forms to migrants without requiring proof of citizenship, leading Republicans and conservatives to call for swift federal action to stop the handouts.

Every state but Arizona — which recently passed a law barring the practice on state but not federal forms — gives applicants for either welfare benefits, driver’s licenses, or in some cases, mail-in ballots voter registration forms without demanding proof of citizenship.

There is currently no requirement on federal voting forms to provide proof of US citizenship, though it is illegal to falsely claim one is a citizen or for a non-citizen to cast a ballot in a federal election.

But millions of migrants with humanitarian parole, refugee or asylum status are eligible for benefits that would bring them to the offices where voter registration takes place.

See how this works? In case it isn’t obvious enough … the Biden junta leaves the border open and anyone from anywhere in the world can just walk in (or, in hundreds of thousands of cases, are deliberately flown in by the junta). Once here, they are given a voter registration form which is illegal to fill out if you’re a non-citizen. However, the junta will figure out a way to grant you amnesty, and perhaps citizenship, and voilà, you’re now a voting member of this late republic.

I’m not sure why they bother, because the Democrats find ways to cheat. Ballot harvesting, ballot stuffing, rigging the voting machines to transfer votes. They just need the millions of new voters to make it impossible for the opposition to win, to keep the margin of victory out of reach for conservatives, Normals, and other like-minded patriots and true Americans.

My advice: vote this fall to keep it close and pray that enough Democrats and Independents defect to Trump that even with cheating, the Dems can’t overcome the margin of victory.

Daily Broadside | Another Celebrity Pastor Gets Caught in Sin and Resigns

A disappointing report to end the week.

Dr. Tony Evans, 74, resigned as the lead pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas on Sunday, breaking the news to his followers in a statement on the church’s website.

“The foundation of our ministry has always been our commitment to the Word of God as the absolute supreme standard of truth to which we are to conform our lives. When we fall short of that standard due to sin, we are required to repent and restore our relationship with God,” Evans wrote in his statement.

The only thing I would add to that is that we are to repent and confess our sin. I’m not saying that he’s neglecting to confess (the next part of the statement is a confession of sorts), but it’s clear from the scriptures that confession is an active part of dealing with sin.

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16 (NIV)

“A number of years ago, I fell short of that standard,” Evans said. “I am, therefore, required to apply the same biblical standard of repentance and restoration to myself that I have applied to others.”

Evans, the former chaplain for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Mavericks, stated he “committed no crime” but “did not use righteous judgment in my actions.”

We don’t have to know what Evans did in order to appreciate his confession and his willingness to submit to a process of restoration.

“In light of this, I am stepping away from my pastoral duties and am submitting to a healing and restoration process established by the elders,” Evans wrote. “This will afford me a needed time of spiritual recovery and healing.”

It always comes as a bit of a shock when a well-known spiritual leader is caught in some sin. I’m not sure why we’re appalled or surprised. These men (they’re mainly men) are human and subject to the temptations all of us are exposed to. Even Jesus Himself was tempted (Hebrews 4:15) but was without sin.

Still, it’s sad to see another high profile Christian leader / celebrity get taken off the field because the impact he’s had reaches far and wide:

Evans is a prolific author, having published more than 150 books, booklets and Bible studies, according to his website. Some of his most popular books include Oneness Embraced and The Kingdom Agenda.

Evans also hosts a daily radio show called “The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans” that his website says is broadcast on more than 2,000 radio stations in over 130 countries.

His media presence has been amplified by his teaching and broadcast ministry called The Urban Alternative. The ministry was formed in 1981 when Evans’ wife Lois began fulfilling requests for his sermons that were broadcast by Houston and Dallas radio stations.

In 2017, Evans launched the Tony Evans Training Center, an online learning platform that offers seminary-style courses to more than 2,000 students, his website says.

Don’t be surprised if Christian radio stations that broadcast his daily show or his sermons begin to drop their association with him. Publishers may hesitate to print new books or republish old ones. Students may not want to be associated with the Tony Evans Training Center. The Christian buying public may refuse to purchase his products at the same rate they have been.

Hopefully his admission will limit the damage to his “brand” and, more importantly, to the name of Jesus.

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | Not All Transgenders Are Killers But Those That Are Share Similar Traits

There are a lot of significant political developments happening across the U.S. and it’s hard to choose what to focus on. Today I want to highlight something that has faded from the headlines but which is important to know because it doesn’t align with the official (Leftist) narrative that our betters want us to believe.

Newly leaked pages from the Nashville school shooter’s journal depict a profoundly disturbed young woman with intense daddy issues.

Audrey Elizabeth Hale, who identified as a trans male, targeted the Christian Covenant School on March 27, 2023, killing three children and three members of the school’s staff before being shot dead by responding officers.

Even though police shot the suspect dead inside the school, the FBI has repeatedly refused to release Hale’s writings, arguing that doing so “could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings.”

The FBI has been dragging its feet because of, in the hackneyed expression, “ongoing investigations.” Yeh, the girl was shot dead by police after she rampaged through the Christian school killing indiscriminately and they’ve needed to “investigate” for more than a year.

The partisan FBI colludes with the Left and expects us to respect it as a non-partisan institution.

On the next page, Hale focused on her “Dad problems,” complaining that he always turns “the other way” like she’s not there.

“I hate when my dad loves on the cats; not me. FAGGOT!!!” she wrote. “He never once loved on me for years, maybe like ever (as a child maybe)”.

Psychologists have found that people with “daddy issues” tend to have pathological “dark triad” traits.

The term “dark triad” refers to “a trio of negative personality traits—narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy—which share some common malevolent features.”

In her diary, Hale said that she hated her father’s “old cranky-man existence,” and wished death upon all men like him.

“All cranky, good-for-nothing, mentally ill men SHOULD DIE,” she wrote. The’re [sic] all useless pieces of sh-t

Waste of life, waste of time

Waste of human population.

Dad just takes up space for all I know

dried out + hollow

says negative shit all the time, like

“one. He’s a loser”

“I hate movies like this”

“I don’t care”

Well guess what?

YOUR [SIC] A LOSER

I HATE YOU (LIFE, YOU)

I DON’T CARE IF YOU DIE

I WANT TO KILL YOU

Dad is not real.

Everything hurts.

She had severe “daddy” issues. I would never rush to blame her father, since there are two sides to every story and we’re only hers. But it’s clear that she was deeply angry with her dad.

I won’t reproduce the entire article here, but there’s plenty of more disturbing expressions of self-hatred and hatred of those around her.

Other sexually-confused shooters like Hale share similarly sad pasts.

Anderson Lee Aldrich killed five patrons at a Colorado Springs gay nightclub in November 2022. Reports in part said, Aldrich is “nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns.” Further,

The suspect’s father is a mixed martial arts fighter and pornography performer with an extensive criminal history, including convictions for battery against the alleged shooter’s mother, Laura Voepel, both before and after the suspect was born, state and federal court records show.

[…]

Aldrich’s request for a name change came months after Aldrich was apparently targeted by online bullying. A website posting from June 2015 that attacked a teen named Nick Brink suggests they may have been bullied in high school. The post included photos similar to ones of the shooting suspect and ridiculed Brink over their weight, lack of money and what it said was an interest in Chinese cartoons.

Alec McKinney and Devon Erickson both tried to commit mass murder at STEM School Highlands Ranch south of Denver in May 2019. Devon killed one student, but McKinney was thought to be the ringleader. Reports said,

Lawyers for the second suspect in the Colorado school shooting, Maya McKinney, who is listed in court records as a female, asked the court to use the pronoun “he.”

The 16-year-old McKinney is transgender and was transitioning from female to male at the time of Tuesday’s shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch in Highlands Ranch, Colo., that left one student dead and eight others wounded. McKinney reportedly identifies as a male and goes by the name Alec.

Also:

Almost a dozen witnesses have testified the past three days — all called by defense attorneys. Psychologists, counselors, family members, family friends all say McKinney showed signs of trouble early — though no one specifically say he exhibited signs of homicidal behavior.

They paint a picture of a child who was sexually abused and neglected. McKinney began cutting himself when he was 13 year-old and snuck booze. He asked for help several times and was hospitalized more than once.

McKinney’s father, Jose Quintana, was a coyote, leading undocumented immigrants from Mexico, and a drug mule. He also beat McKinney’s mother regularly, often in front of their children, according to testimony.

Then there’s Snochia Moseley, a black transgender who shot and killed four people outside a Rite Aid distribution center in Aberdeen, Maryland on September 20, 2018. Again,

Police said the shooter was Snochia Moseley, a 26 year old who they identified as female. A friend told the Washington Post that Moseley had suffered from bipolar disorder and depression, which they linked to feelings of rejection when Moseley had first come out as gay and later transgender.

The friend said Moseley had begun receiving hormone therapy a year prior to the incident, and planned to undergo gender-reassignment surgery, but had been struggling with the transition.

And more:

Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler told news reporters Friday that the suspect, 26-year-old Snochia Moseley of Baltimore County, had been diagnosed with a mental illness in 2016. “That’s as far as I’ll go with it,” he said, declining to give any more details on her mental state.

He said Moseley had become increasingly agitated in recent weeks, and relatives had been concerned for her well-being.

I can’t find anything about Moseley’s home life, but the profile of these shooters tends to show that they have a mental illness and/or come from a violent home.

I’m not sure that Johnson’s take is everywhere and always true, but it is clear that these people are mentally unstable.

It’s also true that the FBI, the media and other official entities will hide the true identity of the killers until forced to admit them or until the killings have faded from the newscycle because it doesn’t fit their narrative that it’s white supremacists who are the domestic terrorists and we should all be a-skeered of them!

Daily Broadside | European Elections May Be Leading Indicator for US Elections in November

I’m not an expert on international developments, nor particularly on the political developments of specific nations. But having read and watched the reports of elections across Europe this weekend, it’s clear that there are some seismic shifts happening that perhaps portend something similar here in the U.S. come November.

Far-right parties made big gains in the European Parliament in election results that rattled the traditional powers and made French President Emmanuel Macron call snap legislative elections.

By “far-right” they mean those who are “sick and tired of the unrestricted invasion of foreigners into their countries.”

You know, normal people.

Macron’s party suffered a heavy defeat from the far-right National Rally party, while in Germany support for Olaf Scholz’s center-left Social Democrats sank to a projected 14%, behind the extreme-right Alternative for Germany, which surged into second place.

Millions of Europeans voted for candidates to serve five-year terms in a new European Parliament, the legislative branch of the 27-member trade bloc. Provisional results from the voting that ended Sunday showed the Christian Democrats would have 189 seats, up 13, the Social Democrats 135, down 4 and the pro-business Renew group 83, down 19. The Greens slumped to 53, down 18.

Other countries in the EU also experienced a surge of “far-right” extremism.

Germany: “Germany’s unpopular governing parties sank to feeble results and the far-right Alternative for Germany made gains in Sunday’s vote for the European Parliament, while the mainstream conservative opposition was the country’s strongest political force by a distance, projections showed.”

Italy: “Meloni’s German and French counterparts were shaken by European parliamentary elections that fortified Meloni’s far-right Brothers of Italy as the strongest in Italy, setting her up as a possible bridge maker, if not kingmaker, in Europe.

“Meloni’s solid results create a rare stability in Italian politics, as far-right parties rattled both French President Emmanuel Macron, who called snap elections after his party was eclipsed by Marine Le Pen’s National Rally, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose authority suffered a jolt after the far-right Alternative for German finished second, beating his Social Democrats.”

Poland: “Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s centrist party clinched its first electoral victory over a right-wing populist party in a decade by taking the most votes in the European Parliament election, official results released Monday showed.

“Many viewed Tusk’s return to power last year as a rare case of a democratic party prevailing over populist and authoritarian forces. However, while Sunday’s win solidified his position, the results also showed that his lead is small, and that support for the far right is rising.

Belgium: “Flemish nationalist parties dominated general elections in Belgium on Sunday as Prime minister Alexander De Croo’s liberal party took a hit, with difficult coalition talks to form a new government now looming.

“Despite polls predicting that the far-right, anti-immigration Vlaams Belang party would become the main political force in the country with 11.5 million inhabitants, the right-wing nationalist New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) retained its first spot, with an expected 22% of the votes, according to provisional results provided by the Interior ministry.

“The Vlaams Belang came in second position, with a share of 17.5%, ahead of the Socialist Voruit party, which garnered about 10.5% of the votes.”

There’s more you can read in the first link above. The results show that Western countries are angry about the ruling class’s importation of third world foreigners who don’t assimilate into western society or culture. The same thing is happening here in the U.S. and Donald J. Trump is playing to that disaffection by promising to undertake “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”

The Left, of course, doesn’t get it.

CBS News host Margaret Brennan on Sunday appeared perplexed by the results of a recent poll that showed majority support for deporting all illegal immigrants.

“Homeland Security says that President Biden has already deported or repatriated more people in the past year than any year since 2010. And then, depending on the details of what’s talked about on the campaign trail, some of what Mr. Trump talks about could be illegal,” Brennan said.

She  continued, “It doesn’t seem practical, in some sense, to round up children. And then we know that the courts have questioned whether local authorities would have the ability to do it, and federal authorities don’t have the resources. So what exactly do people think they’re supporting?”

A CBS News/YouGov poll found that 62% of registered voters said they would support a government program that would deport all migrants living in the U.S. illegally. The poll, conducted between June 5-7, also found that a majority of registered voters supported Biden’s latest executive action at the southern border.

I know you know this, but these Democrat stenographers don’t have to “get it.” They’re detached from us Normals. Ignore them, be inspired by our European brethren, and vote for common sense in November.

Daily Broadside | Today Is the 80th Anniversary of Operation Overlord

On June 6, 1944, 160,000 American, British and Canadian soldiers stormed the beaches at Normandy, setting in motion the defeat of Germany and the freedom of Europe.

By May 1944, over 2,876,000 Allied troops were amassed in southern England. While awaiting deployment orders, they prepared for the assault by practicing with live ammunition. The largest armada in history, made up of more than 4,000 American, British, and Canadian ships, lay in wait. More that 1,200 planes stood ready to deliver seasoned airborne troops behind enemy lines, to silence German ground resistance as best they could, and to dominate the skies of the impending battle theater.

Against a tense backdrop of uncertain weather forecasts, disagreements in strategy, and related timing dilemmas predicated on the need for optimal tidal conditions, Eisenhower decided before dawn on June 5 to proceed with Overlord. Later that same afternoon, he scribbled a note intended for release, accepting responsibility for the decision to launch the invasion and full blame should the effort to create a beachhead on the Normandy coast fail.

Much more polished is his printed Order of the Day for June 6, 1944, which Eisenhower began drafting in February. The order was distributed to the 175,000-member expeditionary force on the eve of the invasion.

D-day statement to soldiers, sailors, and airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force, 6/44, Collection DDE-EPRE: Eisenhower, Dwight D: Papers, Pre-Presidential, 1916-1952; Dwight D. Eisenhower Library; National Archives and Records Administration.

Below, the message is read over images of Eisenhower.

Having just observed Memorial Day, this would be a good time to remember and to breathe a prayer of thanks for those who fought for not just our freedom here in the U.S., but around the world. Remember, Japan was also our foe, who would not be defeated until August of 1945, about 3 months after Germany surrendered.

Just going to leave this right here.

BREAKING: Arizona GOP Files BOMBSHELL Lawsuit Against Corrupt Secretary of State After Discovering from 500,000 to 1.3 Million ILLEGAL Voters on State’s Voter Rolls

The Arizona Republican Party filed a lawsuit against the corrupt Secretary of State Adrian Fontes after discovering from 500,000 to 1.3 million ILLEGAL VOTERS on the state’s voter rolls.

George Behizy reported:

BREAKING: The Arizona Republican party has filed a BOMBSHELL lawsuit against the Secretary of State for violations of the National Voter Registration Act after discovering between 500,000 to 1.3 Million ILLEGAL voters on the voter rolls, including dead people & nonresidents

“The lawsuit highlights outrageous voter registration rates, with some counties exceeding 100% of eligible voters. The lawsuit uncovered that Arizona has between 500,000 to 1,270,000 unaccounted-for voters on the rolls, including deceased individuals and those who have moved away.”

“Our findings reveal a staggering number of counties with more registered voters than eligible citizens, this is a clear indication of a system in disarray. We are holding Adrian Fontes accountable to ensure fair and credible elections in Arizona.”

This exactly how Democrats cheat, bloated voter rolls combined with universal mail in ballots. Republicans have to get ahead of this before November 5th.

Daily Broadside | It’s Not Just Me; Smarter Writers Are Now Declaring the Democrat Party Illegitimate

The Democrat Party is a radicalized, anti-American, Marxist organization that should be abolished, just like the Nazi Party after 1945. I’m not kidding and I’ve said so recently here and in some of my ramblings on X.

But now I’m pleased to hear political commentators who are much smarter than I am saying the same thing. John Hinderaker over at PowerLine blog wrote a short post the day after Trump’s trumped up kangaroo court convictions.

For the second time in their ignoble history, the Democrats have fired on Fort Sumter. Now the question is, what are we going to do about it?

I wrote my initial thoughts on the Trump verdict yesterday afternoon. I want to add to them here.

If Joe Biden is re-elected following this outrage, he will be an illegitimate president. What does that mean? It means, I think, that no one should be obliged to follow his executive orders. All such orders will be illegitimate and should be disregarded, as appropriate. Likewise, residents of the sane states, and their public officials, should be free to disregard rules and orders that come out of the Biden administration’s agencies–the Biden EPA, and so on. And rulings of Biden-appointed judges, or of panels on which one or more Biden judges were part of the majority, should not be given any precedential effect.

We have no duty to conform. In fact, it is our duty to not just resist, but to actively reject any cooperation with Democrats.

More fundamentally, the Democratic Party is now illegitimate. We should stop treating it as a normal political organization. We conservatives have played by the rules, trying to hold our country together in the face of increasingly radical and irrational conduct from our political foes. Those days should be gone. The Democratic Party is now exposed as the enemy of freedom, democracy and the rule of law, and should be treated accordingly.

Correct. And to “treat it accordingly” is to abolish it, make it illegal to reconstitute, and to politically exile its members.

I’m done with trying to reason with Democrats. I’ll talk all day about their need for Jesus, but when it comes to politics, I have no choice but to treat them like the political enemies they are. Anyone who calls themselves a Democrat, is registered as a Democrat, and votes for Democrats, is a threat to you, your family, your freedoms and your conscience.

Conservatives have been patient, have endured much abuse from those in roles of political power, and have hoped against hope that the lawfare and general acts of anarchy would be a short spasm that we could all get through. But like our international enemies, the Left sees negotiation, reasonable dialogue, and a lack of hitting back as weakness, which further encourages them to take more ground and become more inflexible.

It’s time to sever any political relationships with the Left. They don’t want it. They want to destroy the Right, no matter how close to the center you are. Conservatives, traditional Americans, Christians and like-minded allies must fully oppose Democrats at every turn. We need to make them pay for their intransigence by voting them out of office, refusing to cooperate with their laws, and actively make them feel the pain of separation.

Via Buck Throckmorton at Ace of Spades comes this helpful piece by Jeffrey Carter:

Trump should retreat to Florida.

Every single Republican should say that if NY wants to extradite Trump from their state to NY to serve jail time, they will fight the extradition. Trump can freely roam and campaign in their states. If there are fair-minded Democratic governors they could join. But, if they don’t, we know where they stand.

They are on the side of fascism because that is exactly what this is.

You might not like Trump. You might not agree with Trump. For you, this is a John Adams moment. The second president of the United States was no pal of Britain. He abhorred the idea of British troops in Boston, MA. Yet, when push came to shove he defended British troops who were accused by a mob of committing crimes they didn’t commit.

Resist and refuse to cooperate.

  • Let Trump roam free as a bird in Republican governed state. Fight any and all extradition including the use of the police force and any military that the governor controls.
  • Republican Attorney Generals need to engage in lawfare against any and all Democrat officials, including officials in their states. If you are a Republican Attorney General, and you have a Democratic Secretary of State, find something, anything to charge them with. I hate tit for tat, but tit for tat in this case is a lot better than shots being fired.
  • In heavily Republican-dominated states, make life very difficult for Democrats. Do everything you can within the rules of your state to hinder every single idea, statement, or initiative Democrats have. If you can do things without committee hearings, go for it. Shut them out. Democrats actively do it to Republicans. Hence, in Ohio, defy Governor Mike DeWine’s move to put Biden on the ballot. Leave him off the ballot in Ohio. Before this ruling, I was in favor of DeWine’s move.
  • Donate some extra dollars if you can after Joe Biden’s inflation to Trump and any national legislative race. Flip your legislature to Republicans if you can. Democrats are now the party of Fascism. They make no bones about it.
  • It is time for civil, and I stress the word civil, disobedience. That can be painful. But, it’s time to flout politically motivated Democratic rules. March peacefully in the streets. Ignore rules. Don’t pay fees if you can. We know now that Covid was an engineered crisis that was designed to get rid of Trump, not for public health. It’s time to fight all that stuff.
  • When they march in the streets, meet them. March against them.
  • If you are a contractor, maybe pick and choose who you work for. If you show up to a house and a Hamas flag is in front or a BLM sign is in the yard, maybe go to the next job and have them go down the list. Work on out-of-the-closet Republican homes or non-outwardly political homes first. Make them suffer.
  • At your establishment, put up a bumper sticker or flag. It doesn’t have to say “Trump” but it might say “Don’t Tread on Me” or something like that. Let people know. The Silent Majority cannot stay in the closet anymore. It’s hilarious that when I walk down my street, I know if an American flag flies out in front of the house I know they are conservative.

As I’ve written before (here, here, here, and here) it’s often difficult to give advice on what to do about the state of affairs we find ourselves in. Above is a list of simple things most of us can do to register our anger at those who are destroying our country.

It’s now or never.
