Daily Broadside | Pile On! Illinois Joins the States Trying to Kick Trump Off the Ballot

Anti-Trump Coloradoans have appealed directly to the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to remove Trump from the GOP’s presidential primary ballot, pending review of SCOTUS.

Colorado voters seeking to remove former President Trump from their state’s GOP primary ballot responded Thursday to the former president’s appeal, asking the U.S. Supreme Court to disqualify him from appearing on the ballot for another term.

“The Court should decline Trump’s invitation to second-guess the Colorado Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Colorado Election Code,” the court filing said.

Trump isn’t second-guessing their interpretation of the election code; he’s challenging their conclusion that he led an insurrection and therefore could be removed from the ballot.

On Wednesday, Trump asked the justices to reverse the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling to disqualify him from the Republican primary ballot for engaging in an insurrection.

In our country, a person is innocent until proven guilty unless they’re a bitter clinger MAGA Republican deplorable. Then a group of judges can determine innocence or guilt based not on a trial with evidence and witnesses before a jury of peers, but on whatever they claim an “insurrection” is.

Of course, the Colorado Supreme Court’s fevered decision is catching on in other states. It’s like the Chinese Lung Pox, but it’s a virus of the mind rather than the body.

Amid ongoing legal battles over his removal from the Republican primary ballots in Maine and Colorado, former President Donald Trump faces a new challenge to his eligibility for high office, this time in Illinois.

A group [sic] five Illinois voters, represented by Free Speech for People, has filed a challenge to Trump’s eligibility under the 14th Amendment, contending that his actions related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot constituted “insurrection” and disqualified him from the presidency, The Hill reported.

“Trump gave aid and comfort to enemies of the Constitution by, among other things: encouraging and counseling the insurrectionists; deliberately failing to exercise his authority and responsibility as President to quell the insurrection; praising the insurrectionists, including calling them ‘very special,’ ‘good persons,’ and ‘patriots’; and promising or suggesting that he would pardon many of the insurrectionists if reelected to the presidency,” the filing claimed.

These kind of hysterical denunciations are the Left’s specialty—long on impressive sounding accusations, short on actual evidence. To wit, not one of the 1,069 J6 political prisoners in the Garland Archipelago has been charged with the crime of sedition or insurrection.

Not one.

But here we have five—count them, FIVE—Illinois voters who have, again, decided without evidence or a trial or a jury, that Trump is an insurrectionist and is disqualified from the presidency. (The five objectors are all men. Where is the diversity I was promised?!)

Again, the irony here is that they represent “Free Speech for People” which, judging by it’s grotesquely colored website that promotes abolishing the Electoral College and replacing it with a national popular vote, is a progressive non-profit that wants to “restore our democracy.” (Funny—when I think of “restoring” something, I think of taking it back to how it originally was, not breaking it from it’s foundational design. But I’m sure that’s just me.)

In their Petition, the Objectors rely on the decisions of Colorado and of Maine, both of which determined that Trump engaged in insurrection. But they also cite “multiple judges and government officials” who claim that January 6 was an insurrection (p. 60).

Again, just because “multiple judges and government officials” have claimed it was an insurrection doesn’t make it one. Frankly, the fact that “multiple judges and government officials” have claimed it was an insurrection makes me all the more suspicious that it was the farthest thing from an insurrection.

I’m not claiming that there was no violence or that things didn’t get broken. But I am claiming that there is actually no evidence whatsoever that Trump engaged in an insurrection, except as claimed by people who defined what happened as “an insurrection.” It was a march on the Capitol that got out of hand and, as we’ve come to learn, was facilitated by the Capitol Police and, most likely, by the FBI.

If it had truly been an insurrection, there would have been an organized assault with guns and a lot of people would’ve died on both sides. Not one of the protestors has been charged with having a firearm on them. As it stands, the only people to die were protestors who were shot or beaten to death by the Capitol Police. It was a Reichstag moment, and the progressives have milked it for all it’s worth.

But the smart people who rule us have all decided that Trump is guilty of “engaging in” an insurrection. He’s the only one. Must’ve been quite a feat, Trump pulling that off all by himself.

The activist judges in Colorado got the ball rolling and now the rest of the states are piling on. Our country is beginning to turn yellow, like a banana republic.

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | The Armed Insurrection Lie and the Evil Liars Who Sold It

“It almost seems like the narrative was created in advance.” — Julie Kelly

Everyone knows that the Democrats, legacy media and NeverTrumpers (surely, I repeat myself) have crafted a scripted narrative about what happened on January 6, 2021, calling it an “armed insurrection,” a “violent insurrection,” an event worse than Pearl Harbor and 9/11, and because we almost lost our precious democracy (*spit*).

No doubt there was violence, but there were less than a handful of protesters charged with carrying a handgun during the breach — hardly what you’d call an armed mob. And three of them weren’t even at the “insurrection” but arrested later. I understand the energy of the crowd, but there is no way it can be characterized as an insurrection, either armed or violent, when it was not a coordinated attack nor when the only people who died on that day were members of the crowd, at least one (and probably two) of whom were murdered by Capitol Hill Police.

I watched Tucker last night for the second part of his report on the January 6 “riot” as he reveals the pertinent video footage from nearly 44,000 hours of video that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy gave him access to. Carlson is demonstrating once again that Democrats and their lap dogs in the media are lying to us.

[On Monday] Carlson exposed falsehoods that bolster key animating aspects of January 6 including the movements of Jacob Chansley; the activity of still-uncharged agitator Ray Epps; the death of Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick; alleged “reconnaissance tours” conducted by House Republicans the day before; the “escape” of Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.); and the overall deceptiveness of the January 6 Select Committee. “Taken as a whole, the video record does not support the claim that January 6 was an insurrection,” Carlson explained. “In fact, it demolishes that claim. And that’s exactly why the Democratic Party and its allies in the media prevented you from seeing it.”

Julie Kelly of American Greatness has been doing a yeoman’s job of actual journalism about the January 6 events and particularly about the persecution of what amounts to political prisoners who still languish in Gestapo Garland’s Archipelago.

American Greatness first reported Chansley’s peaceful interaction with Capitol Police officers in May 2021. Chansely spent more than 300 days in solitary confinement conditions under court-ordered pretrial detention before finally accepting an offer to plead guilty to the nonviolent offense of obstruction of an official proceeding. In announcing his sentence in November 2021, U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth described Chansley, a Navy veteran with no criminal record and a history of mental disorders, as the “epitome” of January 6 and insisted his conduct was “horrific.” (Chansley was not charged with a violent crime.) He is currently serving a 41 month prison term.

There was also the lie of CHP officer Brian Sicknick who, it was first claimed, was killed when a fire extinguisher thrown by rioters hit him in the head. We’ve known that wasn’t true, but the video shown by Carlson proves it.

American Greatness has also covered the lies about what happened to Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, first raising doubts about the account of his death as early as February 2021. The media, Justice Department, leading Democrats, and the January 6 select committee claim Sicknick died as a result of scuffles with protesters that afternoon. But Carslon played a never-before-seen video of Sicknick walking around the inside of the building after the alleged attack where he appears to be healthy. A man from New Jersey, Julian Khater, pleaded guilty to spraying Sicknick with pepper spray after spending 18 months in the D.C. Gulag. He was sentenced to six years in prison.

Matt Vespa at Town Hall adds:

The shoddy nature of these narratives constructed to score political points against Republicans and give the DOJ cause to ruin the lives of people with whom the current administration disagrees was exposed as soon as Officer Brian Sicknick’s death was ruled to be natural causes. This came months after the media smeared the protestors for killing this man. It was the first domino to fall and a major clue that everything that had been reported by liberal outlets about January 6 was wrong. Months later, that suspicion has been confirmed.

If these lies and propaganda efforts were conducted in some communist nation like Russia or Venezuela, we’d shake our heads and think “how terrible.” This kind of cheap political hit job is now being done here in our country, formerly known as the United States of America. I’m not sure what we are now, but we’re approximating a third-world dictatorship where truth is suppressed and political enemies are destroyed with propaganda and kangaroo courts.

The worst of it is that none of these Marxist liars, including Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer and turncoats Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, will ever be punished for their subversion. It’s a Uniparty, with the exception of a few. Even Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate Minority Leader, calls January 6 a violent insurrection (linked above).

We’re not about to go over a cliff. The cliff is behind us and we’re dropping into the abyss. Unless something radical happens, I am not optimistic about our near future.

Daily Broadside | The UniParty is Strong with Ted Cruz

Daily Verse | Genesis 11:4
Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

Thursday’s Reading: Genesis 12-14

It’s Thursday, January 6 and the one-year anniversary of when the ruling class and their enforcers staged a Reichstag fire at the Capitol that netted them not only hundreds of men and women to harass, but also a foundation on which to build the lie that “white supremacist terrorism” is the most lethal threat we face in this country. They have continued to build on that theme and openly fret that the outgroup will overthrow the 2022 and 2024 elections and destroy our “democracy.”

For instance, here’s Chinese noodler Eric Swalwell taking it to the extremes:

“Democracy nearly died”?

Really?

You’re sure that’s not an exaggeration?

Swalwell is the last guy to be talking about the death of “democracy.” He sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and was literally in bed with a Chinese spy. Did Democracy “nearly die” while you were being intimate with Fang Fang, you compromised flak?

Why this guy still has a job is beyond me, but he’s a Democrat, you see, and the rules are different for members of The PartySM.

Besides, Swalwell is all about election integrity, doncha’ know.

“If we don’t get it right”? You mean rigging it again? To preserve your precious “democracy”?

I hate to break it to you, genius, but we’re not a “democracy.”

What’s amazing is that everything the Demokrats accuse the Republicans of doing is exactly what the Demokrats are actually doing. It’s a massive exercise in projection and gaslighting.

What really irks me though, is that Ted Cruz, a reliably conservative voice in the Senate, weighed in today with comments about J6 that, to me, sink any enthusiasm I might have had if he chooses to run for president in 2024. (I voted for him in 2016 as a write-in candidate before my thinking on Trump turned a corner.)

“We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week. And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives for the Capitol,” Cruz said at a Senate Rules Committee oversight hearing Wednesday with Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger discussing Jan. 6 security failures.

For him to use that language—”a violent terrorist attack”—is to play right into the hands of our oppressors. JANUARY 6 WAS NOT A VIOLENT TERRORIST ATTACK. Nobody bombed Pearl Harbor and nobody turned airliners into missiles. Nobody blew up a cafeteria with a suicide vest, nobody ran down pedestrians walking along a sidewalk with a truck, and nobody lined up captives on a beach and beheaded them all.

To apply that language to a mass trespassing event is to trivialize 9/11 and oversell J6.

And as I wrote yesterday, the only people to die on January 6 were Trump supporters, all of whom encountered violence from the Capitol Hill Police. One was shot without warning at nearly point-blank range as she climbed through a broken window. Should she have been doing that? Absolutely not. Should she have been killed for it and should her killer get off scot-free? Absolutely not.

I’m not saying J6 was defensible. It wasn’t. I condemn vandalism and trespassing. But it wasn’t what the Left makes it out to be or, unfortunately, what the Right now makes it out to be.

No wonder the country is going to hell.

Daily Broadside | Bush 43’s Appalling Comparison is Revealing

Daily Verse | Daniel 6:23b
And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

It’s Tuesday my friends. I’ve had enough of kumquats in the fruit salad.

I wasn’t always interested in politics. In many ways, I was your typical naïve citizen who believed that all of our presidents and congressmen were good men and women who sought the best for the country, revered our founding documents, and were worthy of the office.

It wasn’t until later that I discovered that many of them were scoundrels who played dirty out of sight of the public. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed historic civil right legislation but predicted that, by doing so, he would “have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” Then there was Richard M. Nixon, who infamously lied about what and when he knew about the Watergate break-in and eventually resigned in disgrace as he faced certain impeachment and removal from office.

Still later, as I matured in my political knowledge and understanding of how our government operates, I began to see that even Republicans — the party of Lincoln! — and, ostensibly I thought, the keepers of tradition and conservative values — weren’t “conservative” as a whole. There were conservatives, of course, in the Republican Party, but there were also moderates and liberal Republicans — even libertarians!

And then I began to see a frustrating pattern. Democrats would be shredding the Constitution, our traditions, our morals, and the Republicans would make a lot of noise opposing the Democrats — but nothing would change. Republicans just sit there and act as if they’re powerless to do anything.

In other words, it slowly dawned on me that many Republicans were part of the “establishment” just as the Democrats were. And that awareness left me feeling politically homeless.

I write all of that to set up what has been a further disappointment coming out of the 20th anniversary of September 11. Former president George W. Bush gave a short speech at the 9/11 memorial service for Flight 93 in Pennsylvania on Saturday. Bush was president when the Islamic jihadist terrorist attacks were carried out, and he helped set the tone and the direction for the nation in the immediate aftermath of the devastation. He was generally lauded for his leadership then.

But now this speech.

In his brief comments, Bush likened the American citizens who breached Capitol Hill on January 6 to the radical Islamic jihadists who flew suicide missions on September 11, killing nearly 3,000 innocent people.

There is little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But in their disdain for pluralism, in their disregard for human life, in their determination to defile national symbols, they are children of the same foul spirit and it is our continuing duty to confront them.

That’s right. George W. Bush compared American citizens protesting a clearly questionable election result to Islamic extremists. The only people to die that day were two of the protestors, with one being shot by a Capitol Hill officer and the other possibly being killed by Capitol Hill police using “a highly noxious gas on protesters.”

The protestors had no guns, didn’t kill anyone (not even the officers who subsequently died of other causes!) and most simply wandered through the building like lost tourists. Those that did cause damage should be charged and held accountable, as many are.

But it wasn’t an insurrection.

That didn’t stop Bush, whose comparison was appalling. While he didn’t specifically mention January 6, his words implied who he had in mind by leading with “their disdain for pluralism.” He didn’t mention BLM or Antifa, either, and we know those two movements, which celebrate “pluralism” and disdain whites, have been more destructive to our national bonds than anything that happened in January.

Bush is part of the swamp and his comments demonstrate a frightening fact: it’s not just the Democrats who despise conservatives — it’s the entire ruling class that they’re a part of, including men like George W. Bush.

Our political machine is rotten through and through, and those fighting against it from the inside, like Donald J. Trump was, are the exception.

“So interesting to watch former President Bush, who is responsible for getting us into the quicksand of the Middle East (and then not winning!), as he lectures us that terrorists on the ‘right’ are a bigger problem than those from foreign countries that hate America, and that are pouring into our Country right now,” Trump said in a statement distributed by Save America PAC.

[…]

“He shouldn’t be lecturing anybody!” Trump added.

George W. Bush agrees with the illegitimate junta that America’s greatest threat are patriots who dispute the last presidential election and are therefore “domestic terrorists” or, as some have called them, “the American Taliban.”

We are under the illusion that there are two main political parties fighting each other for power and influence, but when you get right down to it, they are all part of the same untouchable elite who disdain “Normal” Americans.

It’s deeply disappointing, but instructive.

Daily Broadside | What a Joke: Grown Men Weep Over January 6

Daily Verse | Isaiah 14:12
How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
You who once laid low the nations!

Wednesday and the national emergency we’re living through isn’t the Chinese Lung Pox and its variants, but the kangaroo court taking place in our nation’s Capitol as Granny Pelosi and Adam Schiff-for-Brains pull off the next step in their Marxist insurrection while accusing the right of the worst crisis since the Civil War.

The first day was full of grown men crying or, as Ace over at Ace of Spades put it, “Testicrying.” Seriously, it was like a group therapy session.

Here’s Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who the ringleaders of this joke of an inquiry think lends credibility to the commission because he has an “R” next to his name. As we all know, these days the only letter that means anything is the letter “D” and, if you are smart, you stay away from it.

He totally loses any credibility with his final sentences that get cut off right at the end. He says,

“And for all the overheated rhetoric surrounding this committee, our mission is very simple. It’s to find the truth and it’s to insure accountability. Like most Americans, I’m frustrated that six months after a deadly insurrection breached the United S —”

Both here and in his statement accepting the position on the committee, he labels the breach of the capitol a “deadly insurrection.” He’s already arrived at the conclusion that it was an insurrection. He can’t possibly be in a position to objectively weigh the evidence and reach his own conclusion. Hopefully this guy is ousted from his seat in 2022.

Declaring the committee a “partisan commission” or a “kangaroo court” isn’t overheated rhetoric, by the way. He just proved that by labeling it an insurrection, meaning that the commission is looking for evidence to support it’s pre-conceived conclusion. It’s going to be a nationally-televised propaganda campaign that leans on heavy emotions to win in the court of public opinion. The junior commies running the country know that we’re an emotionally fragile people who need safe spaces and think words are literally violence and do emotional harm. That’s what resonates with the Lefty electorate.

This commission is a joke. It was an unarmed mob, there are hints it was planned not by Donald Trump but by the FBI or another alphabet agency, there is video of uninformed officers inviting the “mob” in, officers standing by while the “mob” wanders through the Capitol like lost tourists, and only one person was killed during the breach and it was an unarmed female Trump supporter who was shot to death by a still-unnamed Capitol Hill police officer.

Whatever else it was, it was not an insurrection.

Normal Americans should brace themselves for the gross mischaracterizations that are coming as the Leninites reinforce the perception that we are all white supremacists and terrorists who want to overthrow the government. That will become a pretext for taking further steps toward removing us from the public square.

Just watch.
