Daily Broadside | You’re going to die and Happy Holidays!

Daily Verse | 1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

Wednesday’s Reading: 2 Peter 1-3

Happy Wednesday my friends. You know that I caught the Beijing Blight in October and suffered some powerful negative effects on my energy levels, but have basically recovered to my pre-Covid health. I don’t regret not getting vaccinated and still have no plans to do so — even with the Delta and Omicron variants free-floating across the globe.

The truth is that this virus and its variants are following the pattern of most viruses: it starts out strong but weakens over time to where it’s just another illness that we learn to live with. And live with it we can, especially since the Omicron variant only produces mild symptoms, and sometimes none at all. I’ve read opinion pieces where the authors report that they can’t find any record of any death as the result of being infected with the Omicron variant.

But Gropey Joe and his minions are keeping the pressure campaign going.

This kind of rhetoric is very damaging to the country. First, the grave words don’t match the reality. Omicron isn’t “disrupting” anything. Maybe there’s some infections, but our hospitals aren’t overwhelmed with the deathly ill and as far as we know, no one has died of the Omicron variant.

Second, there are obviously two audiences being spoken to here: the vaxxed and the unvaxxed. Note the language: the vaccinated “have done the right thing” — it’s a moral claim of “rightness” for the vaccinated, which also implies that the other group — the unvaccinated — have not done the right thing.

Then there’s, “we will get through this.” That “we” is the White House aligning itself with the morally superior group. They’re essentially saying, “hey, we’re with you; we’re there for you; we’re in this together.”

Now look at the text to the unvaccinated: “you’re,” “yourselves,” “your,” “you.” No “we” in there — you’re on your own. And it’s going to be a devastating winter for you with “severe illness and death.” And look at the problem you’re likely to cause: overwhelming hospitals with your irresponsible decision not to get vaxxed.

Vaxxed? Good! Not vaxxed? Baaad!

Third, this is a clear example of pitting groups against each other (in this case, the vaxxed against the unvaxxed), which exacerbates the deep divides that already exist and that the left has been agitating for years.

This is Marxist class warfare dressed up in appeals to our better nature.

We need to reject this kind of agitation out of hand, as we do statements from Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci. Just listen to Biden himself and ask yourself why he’s speaking like a dictator.

Did you ask PERMISSION from Joey 81 MILLION to enjoy getting together with your family this Christmas? Joey Ice Cream Cone says it’s “A-OK” to do that — as long as you’re vaccinated. Again, the implication is that the unvaccinated should stay isolated.

We should absolutely refuse to follow this guidance. The pandemic is essentially over; we’re dealing with a mild flu-like virus that will be with us forever. Unlock the country and open it back up again!

Our federal government has no business messaging the American people with this kind of fear mongering. Ignore it and live life with joy and without fear.

Daily Broadside | Another New Poll Confirms We’re Done With Biden

Daily Verse | 1 Timothy 6:6-8
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

Friday’s Reading: 2 Timothy 1-4
Saturday’s Reading: Titus 1-3

It’s Friday and we’re headed into the weekend, although the communist junta running our country never rests. You can be assured that they’re aware they only have so much time to inflict maximum damage on our nation through lawlessness, lies, and the perversion of our core institutions like the military, our congressional norms, the Executive Branch, commerce, education, law enforcement, and the judiciary before the voters throw them out, (hopefully forever, but don’t bank on it), starting with the midterms in 2022.

Resident Biden continues to poll in negative territory, with more just-released polls:

[Resident] Biden‘s standing with Americans remains in negative territory heading into the final few weeks of 2021.

The [so-called] president stands at 43% approval and 51% disapproval in a NPR/Marist national survey released on Thursday. A day earlier, a national poll from Monmouth University indicated a 40% approval and a 50% disapproval. Both surveys were conducted in recent days.

An average of all the most recent national polls compiled by Real Clear Politics puts Biden’s approval at 42% and his disapproval at 52%. The average included a large survey from The Wall Street Journal conducted last month that had the [resident] well underwater, at 41%-57%.

In the NPR/Marist report, they found that:

The [so-called] president’s approval rating was just 42% in this survey, tied with a late November poll for the lowest Marist had found since Biden took office.

What’s more, the intensity of disapproval is high — 38% said they strongly disapprove of Biden. That’s close to the territory that President Donald Trump resided in during his term. [Yeah, but Trump had a hostile media, the deep state, and Russia collusion working against him; not so with Biden. — dlo]

While the numbers are a sign of a deeply polarized society, there’s also evidence of lackluster feelings for the [resident] among even people in his own party.

For example, in the survey, while 76% of Republicans strongly disapproved of the job Biden is doing, only 38% of Democrats strongly approved.

Don’t forget that NPR is a left-wing mouthpiece, so any data they share is suspect. Plus, most polling groups oversample Democrats in order to skew results in favor of the Left.

Nonetheless, there’s no getting around just how hard Biden is failing. And don’t forget that only 22% of voters want Biden to run for reelection, and only 12% want Value Pick Harris to run again. Those are unfathomably grim numbers.

Biden’s poll numbers are about the only thing that’s encouraging about this administration.

Of course, we’ve had a couple of successes in blocking some of his more radical moves. His nominee for comptroller of the currency, Saule Omarova, withdrew her name from Senate consideration. “The comptroller of the currency,” writes CNBC, “regulates about 1,200 nationally chartered banks with total assets of around $14 trillion, representing two-thirds of the U.S. banking system.”

You may have heard that Omarova was born in the Soviet Union, attended Moscow State University, called for the destruction of the oil, gas, and coal industries and the elimination of private bank accounts in favor of the Fed holding your money. She’s a straight-up Marxist-Leninist.

Gee, what could possibly go wrong were she appointed to the office?

Then there’s all of Biden’s vax mandates that have taken it on the chin as court after court has blocked them because the U.S. Constitution doesn’t give him that power. Now it sounds like all his mandates have been blocked.

Although we might call them “wins,” they’re really only tactical victories, not strategic victories. Biden assaults the public with his extremist nominees and policies, and we have to act on the defensive to turn them aside. With a presumed Republican House and Senate after the midterms, he’ll be dead in the water (assuming we don’t get more Fake Conservatives like Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney). In order to really get something done, we need to hang onto the majorities for the next couple of years and then win a convincing victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Unfortunately, there’s no guaranteeing a win because our elections have been compromised and the Democrats have tasted the spoils of cheating and foul play. You think they’re going to sit back, especially if Trump is the nominee?

Nothing seems to change by voting harder … but, still, we vote in the hopes that we can wrest our country from its enemies and avoid the inevitable bloodshed that will come if we don’t.

That’s not hyperbole, my friends.

Finally, I leave you with another bit of evidence that even though we live in dismal times, there are pockets of hope that some of our institutions can occasionally function and do the right thing:

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | Courts Slap Down Vax Mandates—For Now

Daily Verse | 2 Corinthians 9:7
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Wednesday’s Reading: 2 Corinthians 10-13

Happy Wednesday, Broadsiders! I dream of winning the grasshopper yodeling championship some day.

It’s December 1, 2021 and we’ve only got 40 more days until we can say we’ve survived a quarter of Resident Biden’s first (and only) term. Joey Waffle Cone is perhaps the worst chief executive ever inflicted on the United States of America. He’s a talentless bureaucrat who chases popularity and profit for himself and his family without regard for the actual citizens he allegedly “leads.”

But all is not lost. His approval ratings are in the toilet and he has just suffered several setbacks on one of his signature issues: the vaccine mandates.

In November, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) suspended enforcing Biden’s vaccine mandate on employers with more than 100 employees or face thousands of dollars in fines “after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit upheld a stay on the mandate.”

Prior to the suspension of enforcement for the mandate, senior administration officials said OSHA would assist employers in developing their own vaccine and testing standards. Fines for willfully failing to comply with the mandate could reach as much as $14,000 per violation, with the potential for multiple citations per business.

Then, yesterday, Biden’s despotic overreach took a gut punch when two different courts ruled against him.

U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty in Monroe, Louisiana, issued the injunction (pdf) to expand a separate order issued on Monday by a Missouri federal court, which applied to just 10 states.

[…]

“If human nature and history teach anything, it is that civil liberties face grave risks when governments proclaim indefinite states of emergency,” he wrote. “During a pandemic such as this one, it is even more important to safeguard the separation of powers set forth in our Constitution to avoid erosion of our liberties.”

The second court blocked the administration’s vaccine mandate for federal government contractors and subcontractors.

“This is not a case about whether vaccines are effective. They are,” Van Tatenhove wrote. “Nor is this a case about whether the government, at some level, and in some circumstances, can require citizens to obtain vaccines. It can.”

He said that the question before him was a narrow one: whether or not Biden had the authority to impose vaccines on the employees of federal contractors and subcontractors.

“In all likelihood, the answer to that question is no,” Van Tatenhove wrote.

Even CNN has taken note of the setbacks, writing, “The Biden administration has suffered three major court losses since Monday morning, with orders freezing key federal government Covid-19 vaccine rules in certain parts of the country and, in one case, nationwide.”

Chris Cuomo was unavailable to report on the story.

Perhaps sensing the impending decisions from the courts, the Biden administration announced on Monday that the government won’t suspend or fire federal employees for violating its Covid-19 vaccine mandate until January.

The Biden administration has told government agencies that they can hold off on disciplining workers who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19 until after the holidays, saying the mandate was intended to “protect federal workers, not to punish them.”

The White House originally set a Nov. 22 deadline for federal workers to be fully vaccinated or face suspension or dismissal unless they were granted a religious or medical exemption.

See how big-hearted and friendly the government is? It’s for your own good!

If they were smart, they’d follow the example of Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida, which “currently has the lowest number of COVID-19 cases per capita in the United States.”

“Our governor actually follows data, and that’s why he’s so successful,” Gimenez, a Republican, argued. “He doesn’t really care what the mainstream media says. He does what he thinks is the right thing, following the data, and more often than not, he’s absolutely right. And when he’s proven right, everyone’s mum…he’s leading our state, and really, the rest of the country should be following our lead here in Florida.”

Exactly.

So much of the masking, social distancing, vax mandates and fear-mongering by our so-called “leaders” is nothing short of a power grab. It may look and feel like, “I’m from the Government and I’m here to help,” but that’s when you need to put your guard up.

Sure, offer vaccinations and new pills. Maybe offer proven treatments that already exist—like Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin. Just don’t demand we take it or lose our jobs. That’s tyrannical.

Daily Broadside | If You Refuse the Mask or the Shot, You’re Not Wanted

Daily Verse | Joel 2:12
“Even now,” declares the Lord,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning.”

Happy Monday my friends. Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. But here we are on Monday — again.

Yesterday I went to a restaurant that we’ve frequented over the last 18 months and by “frequented” I mean that we’ve gone there more often than any other eating establishment, which may or may not mean “occasionally.” The last few times we’ve been there no mask has been required. This time we walked in expecting the same, but the (masked) Karen server behind the counter immediately asked us if we had masks.

“No,” I said. “Do you have any?,” knowing that some establishments would provide them for their guests.

“No,” she replied, “we don’t stock them. And there’s a sign on the door when you come in.”

I confess to seeing the “sign,” which was written in small type as part of a paragraph of small type on an 8½ x 11 sheet of paper taped to the glass door, which I didn’t fully read because we were all going in and it was an interruption and it was hot out and we were hungry and I assumed they only partly meant the word “must” and they didn’t require them before and, besides, who’s enforcing mask mandates anyway?

To be fair, the masked woman behind the counter was probably only enforcing the company policy, so I can’t really fault her, but she wasn’t particularly nice about it. My immediate reaction to her telling us that masks were required and, without saying so, implying that we would not receive service without one, was to turn around and walk out and find a place that would serve us without masks.

But my wife had a mask for me and for her and she put hers on and started her order, while our two guests retrieved theirs, so we stayed. But I was not happy about it.

As I walked to my table I grumbled about how the Beijing Bat Flu was certainly deadly as we stood and ordered but that it very obviously weakened on the way to the table and by the time I sat down it was safe to de-mask because reasons. And how stupid this whole thing is.

I got to thinking about it and, for the first time, I truly understand the observation that being required to wear a mask creates a two-tiered society, with non-maskers being “second-class citizens.” I’ve read that before in the commentariat in a variety of opinion pieces, but it really hadn’t penetrated like it did yesterday.

Many of the authors say that masks are just a first step in dehumanizing the citizenry. Think about it. What is the difference between someone without a mask not getting service and someone with a yellow star not getting service? One concerns medical purity, the other racial purity. In both cases people are classified negatively.

While it’s true that one is contagious and the other isn’t, they both result in the same thing: ostracization from society.

In both situations, the ruling authorities mandate the conditions: not complying with masking denies you service today, wearing a star denied you service then. While we are all ostensibly free to choose whether or not to wear the mask and the Jews were not free to reject wearing the star, the result is the same: complying with the star or not complying with the mask results in a denial of service.

Not wearing a mask and wearing a star both telegraph a negative association to the rest of society. And while non-maskers and those refusing to get the vaccine are not being shipped off to concentration camps (yet), they are subjected to tyrannical language and treatment from those who decree the conditions and their supporters in government and business.

The Resident pointedly blamed one-third of Americans for the rise in the Delta variant.

“We’ve been patient. But our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us,” he said, all but biting off his words. The unvaccinated minority “can cause a lot of damage, and they are.”

[…]

After months of using promotions to drive the vaccination rate, Biden is taking a much firmer hand, as he blames people who have not yet received shots for the sharp rise in cases killing more than 1,000 people per day and imperiling a fragile economic rebound.

Shock jock and noted medical expert Howard Stern used similarly strong language about the unvaccinated.

Radio host Howard Stern said people who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19 are “idiots” and called for vaccinations to be mandatory.

“When are we gonna stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say it’s mandatory to get vaccinated? F— ’em. F— their freedom. I want my freedom to live,” Stern said on his SiriusXM program on Tuesday. “I want to get out of the house already. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures. This is bull—-.”

In another rant, he said,

“We have no time for idiots in this country anymore. We don’t want you,” Stern said. “We want you to all either go to the hospital, stay home, die there with your COVID, don’t take the cure but don’t clog up our hospitals with your COVID when you finally get it.

“Stay home, don’t bother with science, it’s too late. … We want you to go away,” he continued. “We want you to leave the country. Go somewhere where they have ultimate freedom, wherever that is, some bizarro world where you don’t have to take the vaccine. … I don’t know when nonsense became such a thing.”

Here’s Jimmy Kimmel, the very unfunny late night host.

“Dr. Fauci said that if hospitals get any more overcrowded, they’re going to have to make some very tough choices about who gets an ICU bed. That choice doesn’t seem so tough to me.

Vaccinated person having a heart attack? Yes, come right in, we’ll take care of you. Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo? Rest in peace, wheezy.”

Add one more for good measure. Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign manager, David Plouffe, called MAGA supporters a “sick, perverted one-third of the country.”

He added, “I think these governors, legislative leaders who have stood in the way of vaccinations, who belittled COVID, who don’t want masks in school — here’s the thing, we’re basically two-thirds of the country in support of mask mandates in schools. So again, they’re speaking to their sick, perverted one-third of the country, you know that gets injected by Fox News and Sinclair and Breitbart, all the stuff.”

Jews forced to wear the yellow Star of David in 1941 Nazis Germany were subject to segregation and discrimination. We can’t deny that something similar is happening. Our freedom is being restricted if we are being demonized as “idiots” and “sick and perverted,” told we’re not wanted, that our freedom is meaningless, that we should essentially f*** off and die, and we’re not allowed to conduct transactions and travel in public unless we wear a mask.

Feel the love?

Right now we have the opportunity to push back and refuse to comply with the tyrannical edicts from our rulers. But how long will that opportunity last?

Daily Broadside | You May Soon Want a Fake Vaccine ID

Daily Verse | Jeremiah 35:15
“Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them.”

Wednesday and we’ve hit the middle of the week. I think I’ve missed my window to try high-diving into a pool of jello.

One of the guys that I enjoying reading is Doug Wilson over at Blog & Mablog. He’s a theologian/philosopher of a reformed/evangelical bent and writes with clarity, wisdom and wit about God’s truth and its intersection with our culture and politics. He’s a careful student of our times and an expert at explaining the disease behind the madness.

In his post on Monday, he presented a biblical defense of fake vaccine IDs. (I personally prefer reading his posts, but he also records them as audio and, below, video.)

What he impressed on me is not so much the logic and biblical support of getting a fake vaxx ID (which is strong), but that he is convinced we are fast approaching a situation in which fake IDs will be necessary. In other words, he and I agree that we are unlikely to avoid further descent into the tyranny of the ruling political class. As he says, “things really are that dire.”

That means that Christians who oppose vaccine mandates will have to make a choice. For Wilson, “Believing Christians have three basic options—compliance, non-compliance with a guilty conscience, and non-compliance with a clean conscience. I am urging you all to the third option, and I believe that these principles below can help with that.”

He then goes on to outline seven principles regarding fake IDs. Let me briefly summarize them for you:

  1. Resist openly. “If massive numbers of people simply refuse to take the vaccine, there is nothing they can do.”
  2. Resist clandestinely. If you can’t resist openly, “then feel free before God to resist” using fake vaccine IDs.
  3. Fake vaccine IDs are not to be used just in the context of doing gospel work. “These are liberty issues, and any kind of lawful liberty is never a trifle.”
  4. You can be right with God and use a fake ID, but “there are wisdom issues involved also, and so you should do a reasonable cost/benefit analysis with regard to whatever it is you are doing.”
  5. “If you are a Christian elder or pastor … at least have the decency not to rat out Christians who do have that liberty in their conscience” to use fake vaccination IDs
  6. If you choose to “use a fake ID, then don’t settle for less. Use only the best” fake vaccine IDs.
  7. Think longer term. “Behave in such a way now as that you will not be ashamed to talk about it afterwards.”

I haven’t written about it for a while, but I still believe there’s a good possibility that our current cold civil war will go hot. I don’t particularly want that to happen, but I’m not the one forcing the issue. It’s our lying government and the lapdogs in the media who cover for them.

When it comes to dealing with leaders who deceive and take away liberties that have been long established, it is they who have broken “comity” as Wilson calls it, and we are then faced with a choice of being complicit in our own destruction or resisting sin, potentially to the point of shedding our blood (Hebrews 12:4).

Whether you agree with Wilson or not, he provokes thought, and now is the time to do your thinking.

Daily Broadside | Think For Yourself Say Rogan and Paul

Daily Verse | Isaiah 53:2
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

Happy Tuesday, Broadsiders! I just burned 2,000 calories (that’s the last time I try making brownies).

Our overlords are trying to condition us to do what they say, using “public health” as the goad. They really have no authority or jurisdiction to be demanding that we get a shot or mask up or both, otherwise we aren’t allowed to participate in society.

Meanwhile, largescale events like Burn, Loot & Murder protests and the somewhat violent riots last year and stealth Marxist Barack Hussein Obama’s 60th birthday party pass without criticism while the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is specifically called out by Dr. Anthony Fauxchi.

Fauxchi is a fraudulent, compromised bureaucrat who should be removed from his post. Of more importance are the two videos below. Joe Rogan, one of the most popular podcasters today and host of The Joe Rogan Experience, has a hot take on where we’re headed if we as a society don’t resist the powers telling us we have to be vaccinated. The one at the bottom is the most important, since a sitting U.S. Senator, Rand Paul (R-KY) is calling for civil disobedience.

Be sure to watch both of them; I think they are sensing that Americans have just about had enough, and that we need to take action. Now.

Here’s one Rogan quote: “But as soon as you put the boots to them, as soon as you tell them, you have to do this, or you can’t do that, you have to listen to me. Now you have a mini dictator, you have a one step away from a king, you have a one step closer, you’re moving one step closer to a dictatorship. That’s what the f*** is happening. That’s what’s gonna happen with the vaccine passport.”

And here’s what Rand Paul had to say:

At one point he asks, “Do I sound fed up? That’s because I am.” And then he closes with this:

“We are at a moment of truth and a crossroads. Will we allow these people to use fear and propaganda to do further harm to our society, economy, and children? Or will we stand together and say, absolutely not? Not this time. I choose freedom.”

I also believe we are at a crossroads and are being backed into a corner. Unelected bureaucrats have assumed a power they don’t have and are telling us what to do, even though they are not following the science. I know from personal conversations that people on the ground in everyday life are tired of the petty tyrants getting their junior commie on.

I’ve frequently said that there is a lot of pent up irritation that needs to be gathered and focused on pushing back, but that we needed someone to lead that effort. Rand Paul’s short speech, while not stirring, is a good attempt at galvanizing support. It will take brave people to defy our government’s demands, but we have to remember that we don’t answer to them; they answer to us.
