Happy Friday and the last day of September. Fall is in the air here, with temperatures in the low- to mid-60s during the day this last week. Chilly!
The really great thing about going into October is that we’re only about a month out from the mid-term elections and one of our increasingly rare opportunities to claw back some of the power taken from us during the 2020 election. We may not get all we need, but hopefully enough to check the rampant, out of control dismantling of what was once the greatest nation in the world.
I’ve learned over the last several years, however, to not get my hopes up too high because NOTHING EVER HAPPENS with the power once we have it. Remember when we had the White House, the House and the Senate during Trump’s first two years? Remember how we all wanted the Republicans to repeal Obamacare?
Remember, especially, HOW THEY DIDN’T DO IT?
Hey, guess how many GOP senators out of 50 are demanding an explanation for the FBI arrest of a pro-life activist?
That many?
I guess we should be grateful we got any. That’s why I don’t have great hope in our political processes anymore.
That’s how the GOP rolls. We have a few solid conservatives in office, but the rest are members of the UniParty that like the trappings of political life in D.C. They aren’t serious about reining in the current junta, because it would require them to oppose the status quo and risk losing their next election.
We’re drifting on a rotting ship that’s lost its rudder, its sails are in tatters, its maps have been replaced by deformed drawings of imaginary places, the crew is telling the passengers to paint the deck in rainbow colors, the captain is being paid off by privateers, and the guards are punishing anyone who notices.
Yay, November.
Have a good weekend.
