The Broadside | The Left Assures Us That Non-Citizens Rarely Vote in Our Elections, But That’s Not True

From the Issues and Insights Editorial Board.

Eight years ago, the mainstream media told us in no uncertain terms that noncitizens don’t vote in American elections. “There is no evidence,” they said. The likely number “is zero.”

They were provably wrong then – there’d been multiple accounts of noncitizens who’d registered and voted in elections. In the years since, the evidence of this problem has piled up higher. But the media are still at it. It’s “extremely rare,” they say. It never “affects the outcome of a race.” Republicans are looking to “blame illegals” if Donald Trump loses, etc.

Here’s one example of the disconnect.

An audit of Texas voter rolls in 2019 found 95,000 noncitizens who’d registered, 58,000 of whom voted in an election. This year, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that he’d removed 6,500 noncitizens from the state’s voter rolls, nearly 2,000 of whom voted.

58,000 non-citizens voted in an election. That’s enough to swing an election. In 2020 Biden “defeated” Trump in Arizona by 10,457 votes (0.3%) out of 3.4 million ballots cast. The number of non-citizens who voted in Texas are more than five times the margin of Brandon’s “victory” in Arizona.

Dozens of lawmakers are pressing Attorney General Merrick Garland about what he is doing to stop noncitizens from voting. “Clearly, there is a non-negligible amount of voter participation by noncitizens in federal elections,” they say, “which is not only a serious threat to the integrity of our elections and the democratic process they represent, but also has the potential to reduce Americans’ trust and confidence in election results.”

But the Biden-Harris Justice Department appears more interested in preventing states from cleaning their voter rolls of noncitizens.

Last week, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin issued a statement: “With less than 30 days until the election, the Biden-Harris Department of Justice is filing an unprecedented lawsuit against me and the Commonwealth of Virginia, for appropriately enforcing a 2006 law signed by Democrat Tim Kaine that requires Virginia to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls.

And Democrats blocked a bill – the SAVE Act – that would have simply required some proof of citizenship in order to vote.

It’s almost as if Democrats want to let noncitizens vote.

Viriginia isn’t the only place trying to clean up its voter rolls.

The State of Florida is trying to remove noncitizens from its voter rolls. Joe Biden’s Department of Justice is fighting that effort, so Florida has gone to court:

Florida authorities on Oct. 16 sued the U.S. government, alleging that U.S. officials are illegally refusing to cooperate with Florida’s effort to remove noncitizens from its voter rolls.

State law requires state authorities to maintain accurate voter registration records. Federal law requires the federal government to respond to inquiries from federal, state, and local government agencies that are “seeking to verify or ascertain the citizenship or immigration status of any individual within the jurisdiction of the agency.”

But when the Florida Department of State asked U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for data on individuals whom Florida authorities identified as potentially being noncitizens who are registered to vote, USCIS’s director wrote back and said the agency could not offer any information that is not contained within the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements program.

Then there are the states who fight any effort to clean up their voter rolls. Like Michigan.

Many states have been conscientious about cleaning their voter rolls — removing deceased voters, voters who have left the state, voters who are not U.S. citizens but who were registered through their driver’s license applications, and so forth.

States such as Michigan, however, have not been so fastidious, as the GAI report and the Drill Down hosts explain. “We always talk about this because this continues to be a problem in [battleground] states that are poised to matter,” says co-host Eric Eggers. “In Michigan, we’re seeing the number of counties with voter registration rates over 100 percent.”

And also Michigan:

And Oregon.

Oregon’s Secretary of State admitted in September that the state continues to give voter registration documents to illegal aliens and that at least 1,259 were registered. Oopsie. SOS LaVonne Griffin-Valade says she’s sorry. The governor, the unfortunately-named Tina Kotek, claims it will have “no impact” on the November election.

The Heritage Foundation runs an Election Fraud Database which to date has catalogued more than 1,560 cases of proven instances of election fraud from across the country. Fraud happens everywhere in our elections. Regularly.

Back to the I&I article:

Consider these recent examples:

  • Virginia’s attorney general recently announced the state moved 6,303 noncitizens from its voter rolls in 2022 and 2023.
  • Arizona admitted a massive error in its voter rolls resulted in 218,000 registered voters who lacked proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • A suit filed in Nevada asserts that as many as 11,000 noncitizens are registered to vote in the state and nearly 4,000 of them voted in 2020.
  • An Oregon audit found nearly 1,300 noncitizens registered to vote in that state.
  • Ohio’s secretary of state found nearly 600 noncitizens registered to vote.

Meanwhile, a local news investigation found mailers sent to noncitizens by their union – LIUNA – urging them to “Stop the Steal” and vote for Kamala Harris in November.

The Breitbart article goes on to talk about the five threats to election integrity:

GAI’s new report explains how those rule changes, which in many states have since been repealed or replaced, may have affected the 2020 outcome and threaten the integrity of the 2024 presidential election. The report divides the risks to our elections into five categories:

  • Dark money” such as “Zuckerbucks” that is used for public election administration.
  • Lawfare operations that use taxpayer resources to “weaponize the justice system against challengers to incumbents.
  • Get Out the Vote” operations that use nonprofit status to target voters from a preferred political party.
  • Vote Fraud by people who double-vote, fraudulently vote someone else’s ballot, or vote without being eligible to vote.
  • Election Fraud that seeks to fix elections by illegal activities that take place during the counting or collection of ballots.

Well, a couple of weeks out from the election, here’s what’s going on.

Michigan is gearing up for a delayed announcement of election results this year, reminiscent of the 2020 scenario. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has indicated that an additional 24 hours will be required to tally all the votes.

Pennsylvania election officials – in a bid to avoid controversy in November – are telling voters ahead of time not to expect the results of the high-stakes presidential race to be ready by Election Night.

Let’s hope a toilet in Arizona doesn’t overflow and flood all the swing states again this year.

The Broadside | Supreme Court Rules Trump Partly Immune To Prosecution; Dems Cry Moar

You may have noticed that I changed the title of my post from “Daily” Broadside to “The Broadside.” It’s apparent to me that as much as I want this to be a daily, it’s been a challenge over the last couple of years to figure out the right mix of priorities in life to make it happen, not to mention the unexpected circumstances that sometimes frustrate my intentions.

So I’m conceding to the reality that I can’t easily make it a daily post and relieving myself (and you) of the expectations the title promised. The change gives me the cover to write as often as I can and when I miss—well, it’s not promising to be daily now, is it?

The best news yesterday was that SCOTUS ruled that U.S. presidents have blanket immunity that covers their “core” acts; their “official” acts may or may not be covered; and “unofficial” acts, have no immunity.

From Ace who knows a whole lot more about this than I do:

The Supreme Court did what many expected it would do: It recognized that presidential immunity exists, but only for certain official actions taken by the president.

First of all, the Court notes that previous decisions have held there is no presidential immunity when it comes to subpoenas for evidence. But the Court rules that these precedents are limited to the case of subpeonaeing records, and do not rule out immunity to criminal prosecution.

It broke the scheme of presidential acts into three categories:

“Core” official acts, which I assume are presidential actions taken in furtherance of the president’s specified duties in the Constitution. So a President could never be prosecuted for conducting foreign policy or directing the military.

“Official” acts, which may or may not qualify for immunity. Which acts are “official” and which of those “official” acts will qualify for immunity has to be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Finally, “unofficial” acts are those that the president undertakes not in furtherance of a presidential power, but only in his capacity as an individual. These never qualify for immunity.

So what this does is puts it back to the lower court to determine what sort of “acts” Trump is being prosecuted for. Were they “Core” acts? “Official” acts? “Unofficial” or personal acts? And how will such acts be defined?

In any case, this will likely push the window for prosecuting Trump past the November election; it certainly stops Jack Smith’s case dead in its tracks.

The usual suspects were pulling out all stops, including Schmuck Chumer.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) criticized the “MAGA SCOTUS” on Monday after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of former President Donald Trump in his case against January 6th prosecutors.

Former President Donald Trump is facing charges in Washington, D.C., filed by Special Counsel Jack Smith concerning his actions on January 6, 2021, when rioters stormed the Capitol. Trump contends that he is immune from prosecution for his official duties.

As previously reported, the Court ruled that presidents have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts but not for unofficial acts. The case has been sent back to the trial court to determine the distinction between the two.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer led Democrats in expressing outrage over the 6-3 decision, in which the conservative majority was led by Chief Justice John Roberts. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Schumer blamed the three justices appointed by Trump.

    Cry moar, Schmuck.

Daily Broadside | Trump’s 2020 Lawyer Is Suspended But Won’t Back Down

John Eastman represented president Donald Trump in the wake of the 2020 election, challenging the election’s integrity. It’s wound up costing him personally, and The Epoch Times just published a feature about his experience. (If you have a subscription, you can read it here; otherwise I think it’s paywalled.)

Last summer, the State Bar charged Mr. Eastman, the former Dean of Chapman University Law School, with 11 counts of misconduct related to his role in representing former President Donald Trump after the 2020 presidential election.

But, Mr. Eastman told The Epoch Times in an exclusive interview on April 5, he has no regrets about representing President Trump nor for alleging fraud and questioning the election results.

“No. Absolutely not,” he said bluntly. “What I saw at the time raised real serious questions in my mind about the validity of the election.”

Since then, Mr. Eastman said his investigation has confirmed his suspicions “tenfold.”

Funny how, given enough time, anyone who looks at the evidence with an open mind comes away convinced that there are serious questions about how Brandon won that election.

Mr. Eastman, who was accused of not having the evidence to back up those allegations, said he will appeal Judge Yvette Roland’s March 27 ruling recommending disbarment, but in the meantime his law license has been suspended on “involuntary inactive enrollment,” which means he can’t practice law in California.

    […]

Democrat-appointed Judge Roland ruled that Mr. Eastman broke ethics rules by advancing President Trump’s challenges to the integrity of the 2020 election.

The judge stated in her ruling that “despite compelling evidence against him … Eastman remains defiant, refusing to acknowledge any impropriety whatsoever in his actions surrounding his efforts to dispute the 2020 presidential election results.”

“His lack of insight into the wrongfulness of his misconduct is deeply troubling,” she wrote.

“Eastman continues to hold the view that his statements were factually and legally justified. He demonstrated disdain for these proceedings by characterizing them as a political persecution, claiming that the disciplinary charges against him contained false and misleading statements, and that those who brought them should themselves be disbarred,” Judge Roland wrote in her ruling.

His “complete denial of wrongdoing, coupled with his attempts to discredit legitimate disciplinary proceedings are concerning,” she wrote.

We don’t live in a free society anymore. The Marxists are going after the professional classes who represent the opposition. When they’re either jailed, disbarred or otherwise removed, they can more easily go after the armchair opinionists (like me).

Did Eastman have any compelling evidence?

Mr. Eastman drew from evidence provided by Garland Favorito, a retired information technology professional and founder of VoterGA, a nonpartisan, nonprofit election integrity group.

Mr. Favorito, is the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit filed on Dec. 23, 2020, that challenged the authenticity of 147,000 absentee ballots cast in Georgia’s Fulton County.

“He’s an independent, and he is an expert on election integrity issues, who discovered “thousands of ballots that were duplicated and counted multiple times,” in deep blue areas of Atlanta in violation of state law, Mr. Eastman said.

“We also had Michael Gableman, former Supreme Court justice of Wisconsin … who was retained by the legislature to conduct an investigation, and they discovered hundreds of thousands of illegal ballots,” he said.

Mr. Gableman uncovered alleged nursing home fraud, which Mr. Eastman said accounts for much more than the 20,000-vote margin of victory for Joe Biden, and voter turnout rates in nursing homes went from 20 to 30 percent historically to nearly 100 percent, including from within memory care wings.

“Many of the ballots are in the same handwriting, so the illegality opened the door for fraud, which Gableman proved … and it affected way more than 20,000 ballots,” he said.

“There’s no question Wisconsin was stolen. To this day, there are 120,000 more ballots than voters in Pennsylvania, a state where the margin was 80,000.”

Americans used to go to a local polling place such as a neighborhood community room at the library or the local church to vote, but in 2020 mail-in ballots were counted in much larger facilities in big cities such as Atlanta, Detroit, and Philadelphia where it would be “much easier to sneak in a pallet of ballots,” he said.

I believe that the 2020 election was stolen and that Joe Biden’s “presidency” is fraudulent. It’s the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people, even beyond the presidency of B. Hussein Obama.

It will take all of us hanging together in refusing to concede that the election was stolen. The evidence is there—you’re just not allowed to see that it is. Noticing is verboten.

    Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | The Big Question is Who You Will Vote for in 2024

The big, fat, hairy, looming anxiety everyone has coming into 2024 is the question of whether Donald J. Trump will regain the presidency. Joe Biden is doing his best to demonize Trump and all of his supporters.

BLUE BELL, Pa. — BLUE BELL, Pa. (AP) — President Joe Biden warned Friday that Donald Trump’s efforts to retake the White House in 2024 pose a grave threat to the country, the day before the third anniversary of the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol by then-President Trump’s supporters aiming to keep him in power.

Speaking near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, where George Washington and the Continental Army spent a bleak winter nearly 250 years ago, Biden said that Jan. 6 2021, marked a moment where “we nearly lost America — lost it all.” He said the presidential race — a likely rematch with Trump, who is the far and away GOP frontrunner — is “all about” whether American democracy will survive.

The speech, the president’s first political event of the election year, was intended to clarify the expected choice for voters this fall. Biden, who reentered political life because he felt he was best capable of defeating Trump in 2020, believes focusing on defending democracy to be central to persuading voters to reject Trump once again.

Full of hyperbole and fear-mongering, the speech packed plenty of disinformation malinformation. We didn’t “nearly lose America” on January 6. But we’ve nearly lost it—”lost it all”—in the years since, as the Biden DOJ, FBI and Garland’s Gestapo have hounded, imprisoned, tried and sentenced protestors to outrageous sentences, who were doing nothing but walking through the Capitol building that day. Did you know that they’re now pursuing protestors who were merely wandering around outside the Capitol on January 6? Not those who went inside, but those were merely present? We’re becoming subject to a tyrannical surveillance state that protects the powerful and abuses the patriotic.

And while this election IS all about “whether American democracy will survive,” it’s not in the way Brandon means it. He means that if Trump is elected, “American democracy” won’t survive. First and foremost, the United States is a representative republic, not a democracy. As Jay McConville writes,

We do not have pure democracy or “rule by the majority” because we have constitutionally protected rights that cannot be voted away, [we] operate under rule of law, and have, till recently, limited government with limited powers.

The Founders rejected a pure democracy. They were aware of what a tyranny of the majority would exact from the people. The word “democracy” is never used in our Constitution or in the Declaration of Independence or the Bill of Rights. Any time a Democrat uses the term “democracy” you can be sure it is their own ignorance being used in the service of perpetuating a lie.

Second, the true threat to our “democracy” is Brandon and his ilk, not Donald Trump. They are waging a PR campaign against Trump, trying to dissuade the American public from supporting him. The Russia! Russia! Russia! lies, the two impeachments, the raid on his house over “stolen” documents, the 91 criminal charges levied against him, the attempts to remove him from the ballot in Colorado, Maine, Michigan and Illinois, and now smearing him and “MAGA Republicans” as the biggest threat to our “democracy” is all a psyop to persuade Americans to abandon Trump.

Trump isn’t the one allowing hordes of illegal aliens to swarm over our border, bringing crime and disease with them. Trump isn’t the one who sent our economy into a tail spin. Trump isn’t the one who has shut down domestic drilling, which would provide cheap fuel, and free us of Middle East oil and the whims of the Saudis. Trump isn’t the one who has depleted our strategic oil reserves, our supply of ammunition and bombs, and has turned our military into a woke joke. Trump isn’t the one trying to regulate which kitchen appliances you can use or what kind of car you can drive. Trump isn’t the one who allowed the world to blow up on his watch in eastern Europe, the Middle East, or the Far East.

That’s all courtesy of Brandon and his administration that is hell-bent on destroying this country as founded. Yet he has the temerity to suggest that the real threat to America is Trump.

Biden has made the preservation of the American democratic system a central theme of his reelection effort, characterizing Trump’s supporters as members of an “extremist movement.”

“The choice is clear: Donald Trump’s campaign is about him. Not America, not you,” Biden said, according to Politico. “Donald Trump’s campaign is obsessed with the past, not the future. He’s willing to sacrifice our democracy, put himself in power.”

“Whether democracy is still America’s sacred cause is the most urgent question of our time. It is what the 2024 election is all about,” he also said. Biden further recalled the events of the Capitol riot and highlighted the participants’ wielding of Trump flags and Confederate flags.

“It was among the worst derelictions of duty by a president in American history,” he added.

This is pure, unadulterated BS. Biden’s puppet-masters are hyping a non-story. They’re the ones who are trying to keep themselves in power. They’re the ones willing to sacrifice our “democracy” on the altar of progressive Marxist dogma to make the US just another country that will be reliant on the elites in Davos and Brussels and New York to keep them fed and employed.

Here’s Dark Brandon’s latest campaign ad.

Trump is having none of it.

In his Valley Forge speech on Friday, Biden stated that “[w]hether democracy is still America’s sacred cause is the most urgent question of our time. It is what the 2024 election is all about.”

Trump, for his part, called Biden’s speech a “pathetic fearmongering campaign event” while addressing supporters in Iowa on Friday, The Hill reported. He went on to criticize Biden’s official tenure, saying “Joe Biden’s record is an unbroken streak of weakness, incompetence, corruption and failure.”

“[I]f you take a look at what he’s doing on the border or inflation, or our military, that horrible day in Afghanistan, you look at what he’s done with energy… All throughout the world, we’re an embarrassment as a country,” Trump lamented. “We’ve become an embarrassment as a country.”

Trump made his remarks in Sioux Center, Iowa, weeks ahead of the Iowa Caucus, the first nominating contest in the Republican primary.

You better be sure who you want in the White House, because it will most likely be one of these two. And one of them is wrecking our country right now.

Daily Broadside | It’s My First Post of 2023 …

… and yesterday was New Year’s Day (Observed) at my office, so I had another day off. I hope your Christmas and New Year’s celebrations were wonderful and meaningful and full of warmth and pleasant memories …

… because it might be a new year but it’s the same-old same-old in the world of politics and culture and faith. Just because everything is “merry and bright” doesn’t mean we begin with a completely clean slate once the calendar turns a new page. Well, unless you’re in Christ, then “his compassions never fail. They are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22-23) and, by extension, every year.

We’ll have to learn how to live in a country that is not just fraying at the edges, but is tearing down the middle. The FBI is still the Gestapo we learned about over the last six years; the Democrats are still the political mafia they exposed themselves to be; the GOP is not the opposition party but part of the swamp (with a few notable exceptions); our economy is being destroyed by the Church of Perpetual Climate Fear as war is waged on our abundance of natural gas and oil resources for some fantasy of “carbon-neutral” energy (go back to nuclear energy!); the border is still porous and getting worse because we live under a lawless regime whose sole purpose is to destroy the United States as founded; the judiciary has become a court of rubber stamps that enable progressive lawlessness; our elections are no longer free or fair, but hopelessly suspect; the DOJ and Brandon himself have demonized patriotic Americans and keeps hundreds of them locked up in violation of their due process rights; and normal Americans should be gathering by the millions to protest and agitate against all of it but such behavior is only allowed on the Left and prosecuted against the Right.

My political awakening came a couple of decades ago and I’ve invested more time in speaking out against the lawlessness than I ever have over the last three years. I sometimes see myself as a guy running up and down the brow of a rocky island jutting up out of the sea, waving a red flag, setting off flares, and yelling at an approaching luxury cruise ship, trying to get the attention of anyone on board, warning them that they’re about to run aground and sink the boat. Unfortunately, even though I’ve gotten the attention of a few people on the promenade deck, the captain and crew don’t seem to notice or care.

It’s dawning on me that there is no solution that will immediately fix the dire circumstances we find ourselves in. What I didn’t want to grant, but what has become most apparent, is that our freedoms and homogenous cultural assumptions can no longer be taken for granted. Speech is being curtailed by political and technological ideologues; deeply evil people lie and conspire to get the political outcomes they want. The spirit of our Founders once held us together as a nation, along with deeply religious communities of faith. Those have now been relegated to specialized institutions like the Heritage Foundation or Hillsdale College or to the church or the synagogue or the mosque. You’re certainly not going to find them in the halls of congress or our schools, which regularly and naturally reinforced our national values.

    The Lord foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance.
From heaven the Lord looks down
        and sees all mankind;
from his dwelling place he watches
        all who live on earth—
he who forms the hearts of all,
        who considers everything they do.

    Psalm 33:10-15

Nothing escapes the Lord’s notice. He’s aware of all that is taking place in our country’s capitol, in each of the legislatures in each state, of every person in a position of authority. He’s aware of the lies, the cheating, the oppression, the hatred, the incitement conflict among the people, of the favoritism and the graft and the greed.

His purpose among the nations will prevail because his plans “stand firm forever.” How I wish that we would be known as a “nation whose God is the Lord.” But those in power disingenuously say they fear a “theocracy,” even though a return to the Judeo-Christian principles that this nation was founded on would be the right thing.

They reject them at the cost of their own destruction. They are blind fools and, one day, they will shrink in horror and shame as the full weight of their foolishness bores down on them.

In the meantime, Christians should be doing three things: actively opposing the evil being done in this nation, preparing for persecution, and winning as many to Christ as they can, while they can.

Daily Broadside | Free and Fair Elections May Be a Thing of the Past

    Daily Verse | Hebrews 7:6
This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.

    Friday’s Reading: Hebrews 8-10
    Saturday’s Reading: Hebrews 11-13

After the mid-term elections in November my suspicions that our elections are no longer trustworthy were further hardened by results in the governor’s race in Arizona, where Kari Lake is challenging the results with what seems like strong evidence of fraud. I would love to believe that she will prove that the election was fraudulent, but I don’t trust the courts anymore, either.

Last night we had some friends over for a small Christmas celebration and I ended up talking with a woman who is involved politically. She told me that she no longer believes that our elections are free or fair and she is also discouraged by Republican leaders who really only seem to be in it for the money.

As I prepared this post, I came across a couple of articles that seem to reinforce our commiseration. Here’s an analysis of RNC spending since 2017—as if we needed more reasons to withhold money from these grifting RINOs.

According to FEC filings, since 2017, the RNC has spent:

    • $3.1 million on private jet services
    • $1.3 million on limousine/chauffeur services
    • $17.1 million on donor mementos
    • $750,000 on floral arrangements
    • $80,000 in alcohol-related expenditures

Nearly $400,000 has been spent on event tickets and other entertainment activities, including $30,000 for a private box at a Las Vegas Raiders game, $13,000 for Broadway shows, $9,400 at Madison Square Garden, and $43,000 at Top Golf locations in Texas, Nevada, Virginia, and Maryland …

… Under the current leadership, the RNC has spent more than $150,000 on what could be considered non-essential office expenses, including $25,000 on Commonwealth Joe coffee, $7,000 on cupcakes, nearly $7,000 on candles and diffusers, and $75,000 total at Pottery Barn, West Elm, Restoration Hardware, and Crate & Barrel. In addition, the committee’s FEC reports show expenditures totaling $381,000 classified as “Furniture Expense” during the same time frame.

More than $100,000 was spent at high-end clothing stores such as Rhoback, REI, Nordstrom, Vineyard VinesFootjoy, Ralph Lauren, Carhartt, and Smathers & Branson. An RNC vendor tells RedState that the Vineyard Vines expense ($12,000) was likely for embroidered jackets RNC staffers recently received.

Yep, middle-American schlubs like you and me fork over hard-earned after-tax money in response to the desperate emails and texts we get from the RNC about how they’re being beaten and we only have until midnight to get a 3x match. Then they blow it on fancy clothing and entertainment and tchotchkes for their friends.

I also came across this from one of the blogs I read regularly, which pretty much sums up where I am.

No, the only thing I care about is that we have free and fair elections in this country, and right now I have no confidence that we do. Do you? That should be #1 for anyone who even pretends be right or right leaning. I specifically excluded the Never Trump crowd earlier because they have no function except to attack Trump. They don’t matter. They’re jesters in America’s political court. But the people I’m talking about should care, and they don’t. If tomorrow Trump climbed aboard his star ship and headed for the skies, we’d still be in deep doo doo, because in their zeal to eliminate Trump from public life because they think it’s important for the future, they’ve ignored the only thing that really matters.

Free and fair elections. The foundation of a representative democracy. Without that, and as I said I have no confidence that we have them anymore, we have nothing. There’s no “Republic” to conserve.

Of course, there are others who don’t think all elections are rigged (and neither do I, but clearly there’s some cheating going on). Stephen Kruiser, who lives in Arizona:

I am not full tinfoil hat about every election in America, but what happened in Maricopa County was not just a weird glitch. It’s the most populous county in the state and contains a game-changing number of Republican votes. The fact that the problems with the tabulation machines all happened there stretches coincidence to the point of breaking.

As I’ve mentioned before, we didn’t have any problems with the machines here in Pima County, which is safely blue. Republicans are known for being Election Day voters and the fact that they were the people most affected by the “anomaly” in Maricopa County is what makes this whole thing more than suspicious.

Kari Lake deserves some answers and it is obvious that she’s not going to stop until she gets some. I don’t know if she can get the election results set aside, but it isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Even if Lake can’t get this nightmare thrown out, my hope is that Maricopa County officials will be embarrassed enough to change the way they do things. That would require the Arizona GOP to be more functional and vigilant, and I’m not holding my breath waiting for that to happen. Perhaps Kari Lake can goad the party into fighting mode.

I don’t believe our elections are free and fair anymore, not after what I’ve seen in the last two election cycles. I believe that there is some kind of collusion and cheating going on, because what we see on the ground doesn’t match what we see in results—by a long shot.

What’s the answer? A better ground game from the RNC would help. Making I.D. mandatory, along with same day voting with minimal exceptions, like for military personnel posted overseas.

But I don’t know how you keep the Dems from cheating and there’s no way I want the GOP to cheat. We either win clean or we don’t win. But that may be difficult because it appears both parties are involved in the racket.

Multiple polls conclude that upwards of 70 percent of Americans think our elections are filled with fraud.  But we’re learning it’s deeper and more organized than just a few thousand mules dropping fake ballots into election boxes …

The left and their RINO allies, along with who-knows-how-many other corporate and foreign actors, have set up the most complicated electoral fraud system in history.  Every step of the voting process — from who is allowed to vote, how they vote, how the votes are tallied, to how the results are reported — is compromised.  They are so far into their corruption that being exposed is not an option.  They will do literally anything to avoid being caught.

Read the whole thing and have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | Meet the New Boss; Same As the Old Boss

    Daily Verse | Acts 27:37
Altogether there were 276 of us on board.

    Wednesday’s Reading: Romans 1-3

Welcome to Wednesday and mid-week. The days just clip by, don’t they?

A few things of note happening amid the fallout of the midterm elections. First, RINO leaders Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell have both been elected to lead in their respective chambers, McCarthy in the House as speaker and McConnell in the Senate as minority leader. I wish I had more confidence that they will get things done and clean up the mess that is Washington, D.C., but they won’t.

More precisely, they won’t be able to in the Senate, because Republicans won’t have the votes after the midterms. Best they can do is a 50-50 split, advantage Democrats with Kamala Harris the tie-breaking vote.

Some U.S. senators realize that there needs to be change. Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) plans to challenge McConnell for the leadership post, and he’s supported by Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Rick Scott (R-FL), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Hawley even tweeted: “The old party is dead. Time to bury it. Build something new.” But McConnell says he has the votes and will win the post.

Republicans have won back the House with at least 218 seats. Some project that the GOP will wind up with 222. McCarthy was challenged (briefly) by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) for the speaker’s gavel, but has won the nomination with a vote of 188-31. The 31 votes will make it hard for McCarthy to get to 218 votes on the floor vote come January, so there may yet be some horse-trading.

The second thing to note is that Donald J. Trump has announced that he’s running for president again in 2024.

“In order to make America great and glorious again. I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States,” Trump said to a crowd of devoted supporters outside of his Mar-a-lago home in Florida.

“But just as I promised in 2016, I am your voice. I am your voice. The Washington establishment wants to silence us, but we will not let them do that. What we have built together over the past six years is the greatest movement in history because it is not about politics. It’s about our love for this great country, America, and we’re not going to let it fail,” he added.

I’ll save my comments for now. There will be plenty of time to discuss Trump.

The one thing I will say is that there is bad blood developing between the Trump and DeSantis camps. I’ve been reading some concerning reports on DeSantis being heavily wooed by the GOPe. That would be a disaster if he ever succumbed to their overtures.

Big League Politics has reported about the RINO globalist mega donors currying favor with DeSantis, cajoling him to run for president in 2024 to upend the America First movement and divert grassroots energies into supporting traditional Republican politics:

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is quickly becoming the favorite of the globalist RINO mega donors who want to “move on” from Donald Trump.

Major RINO weenie Paul Ryan is also big on DeSantis. Paul Ryan frittered away a House majority and couldn’t get Obamacare overturned while we had the House, Senate and presidency. He’s not a true conservative.

Finally, there are a lot of bloggers and others who openly fret that our elections are fraudulent and it may not be possible to fix them. Here’s one sample:

In fact, for the past twenty years you could have made a lot of money betting on the Democrat in any election where the vote tally was either delayed or disputed (requiring a recount). Since Democrat Al Franken beat Republican incumbent Norm Coleman in Minnesota in 2008, when late in the recount enough Franken votes in Democratic Party strongholds were suddenly found to put Franken over the top, the pattern has been repeated over and over again. If the vote is close, suddenly a lot of questionable Democrat ballots are “discovered” and always counted. Or if the vote is close the counting process suddenly slows, or even stops, so that more time is gained to “find” more Democratic Party votes.

And in between elections the Democratic Party has aggressively resisted any reforms that would stop such abuse, with the Republicans only weakly fighting them. Thus, nothing gets fixed, and the abuse becomes more blatant and obvious from election to election, so that we have now reached a point where the Democrats always win these disputed elections. Always. Statistically, this is impossible. The results should go both ways in recounts. They haven’t now for two decades.

In other words, the evidence points to Democratic Party malfeasance that is more and more in control of our government

We’re running out of time to get the system fixed. Can we do it with the new boss being the old boss?

Daily Broadside | Are Voters Really That Stupid or Are Our Elections That Corrupt?

    Daily Verse | Acts 26:28
Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?”

    Wednesday’s Reading: Acts 27-28

Happy Tuesday my friends. I’m back from my travels and eager to write.

I left the day after Election Day and have been watching the returns since.

    I’m gobsmacked.

I had predicted “a red wave of tsunami-sized proportions or a trickle of red leaking through an overflowing toilet in Arizona.” At the time I was feeling rather optimistic about the red wave.

But I voted and all I got was this lousy blue-stained t-shirt.

    Fetterman. Really?

Are the people of Pennsylvania really that stupid? How married to ideology do you have to be to vote for a 53-year-old hoodie dude who lives with his parents, has never held a real job, and had a stroke six months ago rendering him unable to adequately process normal conversation?

Fetterman beat a politically moderate Muslim, the son of Turkish émigrés, a celebrity doctor and successful television host, by almost four percentage points. Diversity, anyone? 2,710,027 people voted for Fetterman while 2,474,013 voted for Oz, a difference of 236,014 votes.

The vote seems legitimate, but does not seem logical. If legitimate, how do you explain the votes of those supporting Fetterman? It boggles the mind to think that people actually voted for him. Logically, his win makes more sense to me if the vote was fraudulent, yet … was it?

Democrats vent their fury at Trump and his ultra-mega-MAGA supporters, but then elect a screwball like Fetterman (and his weird uncle, Brandon). The contempt for them is richly deserved.

Same in Arizona. As I’m writing this on Monday night, several outlets are announcing that Katie Hobbs has beaten Trump-endorsed Kari Lake in the race for governor. Again, it makes no sense. Hobbs hid herself, refused to debate Kari Lake, and polls showed her trailing Lake (although not by much).

And how conveeenient that Hobbs, as the current Secretary of State of Arizona, oversaw the election that determined whether she became the next governor. And how even more conveeenient that counting the votes took a week!

Our election system is broken. Very broken.

    Here’s Emerald Robinson:

Welcome to the Banana Republic of Biden — where the voting machines break down and the tabulators fail and the paper runs out on Election Day!

The rigging was so bad, so obvious, so corrupt that even the corporate media was forced to admit that electronic voting machines didn’t work across America. That was a “conspiracy theory” — you might recall — just the day before.

But — lo and behold ! — the machines were all “down” in Mercer County, New Jersey. They were full of “mishaps” in Harris County, Texas and in Chesterfield County, Virginia and in Bell County, Texas and in Suffolk County, New York. At least 20% of all the machines were “not working” throughout Maricopa County, Arizona. They “ran out of paper” in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. In fact, “officials say that roughly 44 polling locations in Luzerne County ran out of paper to print ballots.”

Of course, it’s completely normal on Election Day for 44 polling places to run out of paper simultaneously. Don’t start fueling conspiracy theories by noticing that such a shortage must be deliberate!

    And here she is again:

Countless people have called in the last few days to ask me if Kari Lake or Blake Masters or Adam Laxalt or Lauren Boebert— and all the rest of the midterm candidates in “stalled” races— will ultimately prevail.

My answer is always the same: no. No, I don’t think they’re going to prevail. They’re going to lose. In fact, they’re being cheated out of their victories right now.

My rule of thumb is simple: if you’re a Trump-aligned Republican and your election results were not released within 24 hours of Election Day, then you’re toast.

The entire point of “slow-rolling” vote-counting is that it gives the cheaters the necessary time to count how many ballots they need to beat the Republican candidate and then to manufacture those ballots — or to disappear the necessary number of GOP ballots by “abjudication.”

Didn’t the GOP learn any of these lessons from the 2020 election? Of course not.

I encourage you to read both of her blog posts (and subscribe to her Substack).

Via No Pasaran, Fox News’s Jesse Watters adds:

Elections used to be decided on election night. “American Idol” can handle millions of votes in a commercial break, but it takes Arizona, Nevada a week? None of it makes sense because they don’t want the system to make sense. The longer some of these races drag out for, the better it is for Democrats because they’ve created a system centered around ballots, not votes. It’s not about winning your vote anymore. It’s not about persuading you. It’s about flooding the state with as many ballots as possible and getting them filled out Democrat.

Stalin reportedly said, “I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this—who will count the votes, and how.” Right. It’s not the vote that counts; it’s who counts the votes.

We are told that there is no evidence of any fraud whatsoever in 2020 and if we believe there was we’re conspiracy nuts and a dangerous threat to democracy. Yeah, well, I’m convinced more than ever that there is widespread fraud in our elections and if we don’t figure out how to stop it we’re goners.

    Thursday’s Reading: Micah 1-4

Thursday and deeper we go into the madness foisted on the country by the junta fraudulently installed in Washington through a conspiracy of business and left-wing activists to “fortify” the 2020 election. Don’t @ me, bro. That’s what Time magazine said.

Three weeks ago, the empty suit who can’t string a sentence together without copious amounts of Risperadone stood in front of a national monument symbolizing our founding as a society of free men and labeled anyone who voted for Donald J. Trump as an existential threat to that very society. Remember what he said?

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic…

“And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution.  They do not believe in the rule of law.  They do not recognize the will of the people…

And, folks, it is within our power, it’s in our hands — yours and mine — to stop the assault on American democracy.”

That is an invitation to the rest of the country to fear the “MAGA Republicans.” And if you fear something, you’re going to do whatever you need to do to protect yourself from the threat.

Nolte: Man Admits to Killing Teen He Claimed Was ‘Republican Extremist’

Forty-one-year-old Shannon Brandt said he was afraid 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson was “part of a Republican extremist group and that he was afraid they were ‘coming to get him.’”

So he allegedly killed Ellingson with his car.

After visiting the scene where the incident happened, deputies went to Brandt’s house in Glenfield, ND, which is about 12 minutes from the crash scene. Brandt admitted to consuming alcohol before the incident, and stated he hit Ellingson with his car because he had a political argument with him. Brandt also admitted to deputies that he initially left the crash scene, then returned to call 911, but left again before deputies could arrive.

Court documents say just before the crash, Ellingson called his mom and asked if they knew who Brandt was. She said yes, and told her son she was on her way to pick him up. A short time later, court documents say Ellingson called his mom again to say that “he” or “they” were chasing him. It was after the second call that Ellingson could not be reached again.

Brandt has been charged with vehicular homicide and drunk driving.

You can’t tell me there isn’t a direct correlation between what this man did and what Resident Brandon said three weeks ago. A drunk man killed a teenager because he was afraid of his political party affiliation.

The kind of rhetoric that Brandon employed has been building against conservatives and Republicans for years, whether Maxine Waters encouraging a crowd to tell Trump administration officials, “they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” or Barack Hussein Obama proclaiming disdain for small town Americans who “get bitter, they cling to guns or religion,” or Hillary Clinton who called half of Trump supporters a “basket of deplorables” and “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic,” or Grumpy Brandon who called some conservative Trump supporters “forces of intolerance” and “some of them the dregs of society.”

Brandon doubled-down on his rhetoric again just a week ago during the ironically named “United We Stand” summit.

President Joe Biden on Thursday said that modern day conservatives were part of a “through line of hate” that has been at the root of the American experiment since its inception…

According to Yahoo News, Biden used the summit to reinforce his administration’s false assertion that white supremacist terrorism is the greatest threat to America. As The Post Millennial and other sources have reported, that assertion originated from a government report sampled across only one year, parts of 2018-2019, in which white supremacist extremists were only compared to other homegrown and domestic violent extremists.

Prior to his “through line of hate” remarks, Biden had promised to combat “hate-fueled violence” and said the current threat is rightwing hate in America. He invoked Charlottesville, Trump, and a broader conservative coalition he deemed as threatening.

“Unfortunately, such hate-fueled violence and threats are not new to America,” Biden said, linking modern conservatives to his through line of hate.

If you’re a conservative, a Christian, want to Make America Great Again, support Donald J. Trump, oppose the current regime, or believe the 2020 election was fraudulent or stolen, then you have a target on your back. You are being intentionally demonized, marginalized and “othered.”

    Buckle up.

Daily Broadside | Unoriginal, Undistinguished, Lying, Racist, Grifting Pervert to Defend ‘Soul of the Nation’ From Patriotic Americans

    Daily Verse | Ezekiel 13:6
They say, “The Lord declares,” when the Lord has not sent them; yet they expect their words to be fulfilled.

    Thursday’s Reading: Ezekiel 16-19

Happy September. While I’ve always associated this month with fall, that season doesn’t start until September 23. I have noticed it’s getting cooler in the evenings where I live. I expect that we’ll have a few days of Indian summer into October.

We can still say that, right? “Indian summer”? Or do I get cancelled for doing that?

Eh, doesn’t matter. I’m in this for the long haul and I’ll say what I choose to say when I choose to say it. The only way the progressive Democrat Marxists can be defeated is by refusing to play along with them.

Of course, that will entail some pain and sacrifice on the part of us who are already excommunicado in our current society. It’s appalling to think that normal, hard-working, patriotic, God-fearing Americans are now being denounced as fascists by a cabal of interlopers who are, in fact, truly fascist.

“Turning Point USA” founder Charlie Kirk isn’t having it.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many options when it comes to responding to Brandon’s smearing half of America as “semi-fascist.” You can sit there and ignore it. You can wait it out and hope you can vote him and his lot out (and believe that will take care of it). Or you can square up and resist with retorts of the truth. Maybe a combination of voting and the truth.

What we’re seeing is a concerted effort to delegitimize Americans who vote Republican. I don’t know who Libby Emmons is, but she has a few quality paragraphs in this post over at Human Events.

Biden and his administration are framing out an ideological war which puts Democrats in possession of the “soul of the nation,” and paints conservatives as fascists, bigots and any other insult they can come up with. The goal is to try to seize the moral high ground, only they are doing it on behalf of butchers disguised as doctors, groomers disguised as academics, and racists disguised as equity professionals.

When Biden spoke to Democrats last week and proclaimed that conservatives and Trump supporters are semi-fascist, his handlers knew exactly what they were doing. When Biden was asked what he meant with the comment, he said “you know exactly what I mean,” leaving explanations to flow from the podium in the White House briefing room.

“We have seen MAGA republicans take away our rights, make threats of violence, including this weekend,” Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked about Louisiana Senator Lindsey Graham’s caution against prosecuting former President Donald Trump, “and that is what the president was referring to when you all asked me last week about the ‘semi-fascism’ comment”…

Using the term “fascist” is a language game designed to paint the opposition as something they are not, and obfuscate the fact that it has been Democrats in power that have repeatedly and consistently limited the rights of Americans. Charlie Kirk rightfully noted that Joe Biden is a fascist.

As I wrote yesterday, “The net effect of casting the Right as something they are not is to taint any countermoves as evidence of their “extremism.” The Marxists hold power and their mouthpieces in the media dutifully parrot whatever they are given, so they’re able to assert whatever they want.”

“And have it amplified,” I should have added. Here’s David Marcus at Fox News:

Let’s be clear, Biden did not call Trump a semi-fascist, he said it about the “MAGA philosophy” embraced by Trump’s voters. Fascism is a particularly dehumanizing accusation. Its root word, fasces, means a bundle of sticks, stronger together than separate, and in which each individual stick is indistinguishable from the whole. A blow against an individual fascist is a blow against fascism itself.

That is to say, once you identify someone as a fascist, they are as good a target for harassment or violence as any other person who shares their beliefs. Not only is harassing Justice Brett Kavanaugh, or swatting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene acceptable, so are attacks on your neighbor with the Trump flag on his truck...

In fact the fascist label is incredibly vague, a mishmash of Trump’s aggressive tone, the actions on Jan. 6 of a tiny, tiny fraction of American conservatives, and an increasing belief among progressives that to even question things like trans surgery for children or critical race theory in our classrooms makes one an unforgivable bigot.

Of course, the irony here is that an actual hallmark of 20th-century fascism was dehumanizing not just your political opposition, but the people themselves. How far a leap is it from saying I don’t want a conservative roommate, or date, or mechanic, to I think these people need to be silenced, punished or worse? History tells us that it is but a modest distance.

Biden is reading a teleprompter tonight at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where he’s to deliver a “speech” on the state of American democracy. I hate to keep bringing this up, but we’re not a democracy, so I’m unsure what he will be talking about, but here’s what the White House says:

[So-called ‘president’] Biden plans to deliver a prime-time address on democracy in the United States and “the continued battle for the soul of the nation,” a White House official told The Washington Post.

Biden is giving the speech at the same site where the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were debated and signed, and “will talk about the progress we have made as a nation to protect our democracy, but how our rights and freedoms are still under attack,” the official said. “He will make clear who is fighting for those rights, fighting for those freedoms, and fighting for our democracy.”

Hopefully, he’ll tuck in some comments about how he is the Great Unifier he promised to be — just as soon as we all abandon our conservative principles and come to see things his way.
