Daily Broadside | Biden Casts Blame for His Incompetence on Afghanistan

Daily Verse | Jeremiah 8:6
No one repents of his wickedness,
saying, “What have I done?”

Happy Tuesday, Broadsiders! I don’t make it a habit to eat a boiled egg every day.

The appalling, unmitigated disaster that is the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan led by Joey Waffle Cone continues to get worse by the day. It’s a stunning embarrassment for the United States, a humiliation on the global stage, and a shameful disgrace that should lead to every single employee in this illegitimate administration getting fired.

While Afghanistan is falling in on itself, Resident Biden went on “vacation,” along with Circle Back Psaki, who was AWOL and unavailable to answer questions about where Biden was or what he thought about the situation he created in Afghanistan. Yes, the world is on fire and Biden is taking some time off.

But after getting bad press from both sides of the political aisle, including CNN, The New York Times, and the Washington Post, the man of a thousand ice cream flavors was juiced up with Adderall and sent out to make a statement, which sounded like this: Trump! Afghans! I had no choice but I stand behind my decision!

“The choice I had to make, as your president, was either to follow through on [Trump’s] agreement, or be prepared to go back to fighting the Taliban in the middle of the spring fighting season.”

He’s lying about that. He could’ve nixed the deal that Trump had in place and done his own deal. He could’ve increased the number of troops we had in Afghanistan — he’s (allegedly) the Commander in Chief! It’s not like he had to do Trump’s deal. Heck, he reversed a number of Trump policies.

Biden’s a weasel, blaming Trump for the situation.

I will give Biden this: you can’t provide will power. The Afghan army had no confidence in their ability to defeat the Taliban. Yet, if you’re pulling your troops out of a country, you need to plan on an orderly withdrawal and put the infrastructure in place to guarantee your plan.

Biden didn’t do that.

This band of political losers — yes, you read that correctly — doesn’t have a clue about human nature or about how the real world works. Sen. Tom Cotton understands the gravity of the situation: “President Biden is dangerously disconnected from reality.”

Powerline’s Paul Mirengoff writes that the collapse of the country was that obvious to anyone watching.

“[B]oth presidents had enough sense to maintain our presence — for eight years in Obama’s case and for four in Trump’s. They did so because they understood that, in all likelihood, our withdrawal would mean a total Taliban takeover of the country, a bloodbath of anyone who had supported us in that country, a national humiliation for America, and a return to power of the two terrorist groups responsible for 9/11.”

Hidin’ Biden and his crackpot team are fundamentally unserious people who are wrecking not only our country, but the country of Afghanistan, making the world less safe and diminishing America’s prestige among the nations.

2024 can’t come soon enough.

Daily Broadside | The Disaster Unfolding in Afghanistan

Daily Verse | Jeremiah 2:5
“They followed worthless idols
and became worthless themselves.”

Welcome to Monday and to a new week. I recommend naming your next dog “Doug” and changing the sign to read, “Beware of the Doug.”

If there’s anything that illustrates the incompetence of Joe Biden and this administration, it’s the withdrawal of our troops from Afghanistan. The Taliban have taken over the Presidential Palace in Kabul. President Ashraf Ghani fled Afghanistan. U.S. troops flew helicopters to our embassy in Kabul to evacuate diplomats as the Taliban stormed the building, looking eerily like a replay of the fall of Saigon in 1975.

World leaders are roundly condemning Resident Biden who, even when he had all his faculties accounted for, wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box.

World leaders are speaking out about their disappointment with the security situation in Afghanistan, with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson going so far as to pin the blame on President Joe Biden and the United States.

Johnson said it was “fair to say the US decision to pull out has accelerated things, but this has in many ways been a chronicle of an event foretold,” but urged western leaders to work together to prevent Afghanistan from again becoming a “breeding ground for terrorism.”

Also to blame are our woke Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and super-woke Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, “the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, and the principal military advisor to the President, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Council.” But at least they have all the right opinions and are chasing the real threats to democracy: normal Americans.

Mike Pence piled on.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also blasted the Biden team for poor execution and strategy, but pointed out what our greatest concern has to be: a return to a rising Islamic terrorism.

Pompeo said the true concern in Afghanistan is not the Taliban per se. The primary fear is a return of Taliban rule will return Afghanistan to being a likely “hotbed” for Al Qaeda and ISIS, as it was before September 11, 2001.

Of course, the Left is covering for Biden, blaming their favorite scapegoat, President Trump, who called on Biden to resign.

“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy,” the former president wrote in a statement.

We can debate whether Trump’s Afghanistan exit plan would’ve worked or not, but just like Covid-19 and the “plan” Biden had to take care of it, his administration inherited the Afghanistan mess and it’s his debacle, not Bush’s, not Obama’s, not Trump’s. His.

And he and his team are completely out of their depth.

The worst of it is the 20 years and billions of dollars we spent in that country doing what, exactly? While I was ready to have us out of there long ago we stayed and stayed and stayed to promote what — democracy? We did a terrible job and all that blood and treasure has gone for naught. We’ve got nothing to show for it.

What a waste of time, treasure and life, and how demoralizing for the veterans of Afghanistan.

With U.S. troops having left Afghanistan after nearly two decades of fighting in the region, many veterans who served in combat deployments are reportedly struggling with poor mental health and struggling to make sense of it all as they watch the Taliban retake the country.

Biden’s failure in Afghanistan is of a piece with his failures everywhere else his team intervenes. They don’t care. This tweet sums up our country since Joey Chocolate Chip has been in office.

But No Moar Mean TweetsTM and a return to normal!

Daily Broadside | Don’t Let the Commies Teach Your Kids

Daily Verse | Isaiah 66:2
“This is the one I esteem:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit,
and trembles at my word.”

Another week, another Friday, my friends. I’d like to see a sitcom about police dogs called “Barney Fifi.”

As I think about what can be done to counteract the insanity of our culture, it seems obvious to me that parents who care about the welfare of their children should pull them from public schools. Public schools are now government indoctrination centers where, instead of teaching reading, writing and arithmetic, they teach that America is racist, whites are the source of all problems, you can be a girl even if you are a biological boy, it’s okay to have two mommies, and it’s not enough to have equal opportunity for all, but equal outcomes for all.

Basically, they’re training our children to hate our country, our freedoms and our Constitution.

As if to certify this nonsense, Oregon’s Democrat governor, Kate Brown, quietly signed Senate Bill 744 on July 14. The bill drops the requirement for high school students to be proficient in reading, writing and math before graduation.

The reason?

Charles Boyle, the deputy communications director from Brown’s office, told the paper in an email that staff from the governor’s office informed legislative staffers about the bill’s signing on the day it was passed. He also said that the new standards for graduation will help benefit the state’s “Black, Latino, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”

Ignoring the insult to people of color (you aren’t smart enough to make it!), here’s what they’re doing: instead of maintaining high standards and giving children the same opportunity to excel — knowing that not everyone will excel or even achieve basic requirements — we lower the standard or eliminate it entirely so that the lowest performing students won’t feel excluded.

This is the same mentality that lowered the standards for military recruits so that women can pass the physical fitness tests.

This is the same mentality that gives all kids in sports participation trophies instead of just those who win the championship.

This is the same mentality that led banks to lower their lending standards, which led to the subprime mortgage loan crisis and eventually to the Great Recession in 2007-2009.

There’s probably more examples, but you get the idea. Instead of holding high standards because that’s where safety, innovation and progress reside, we dumb everything down because some Karen doesn’t like being “left behind.” As a result, we end up being a nation of withered intellects:

Ironically, despite the United States having the second-best education system globally, it consistently scores lower than many other countries in benchmarks such as math and science. According to the Business Insider report in 2018, its education ranking was 38th in math scores and 24th in science. The United States’ education rankings have been falling by international standards over the past three decades, as the government has decreased education funding by 3%. Still, other countries have increased their education funding.

The other thing that is happening as a result of our woke institutions is that people are taking education into their own hands.

The number of students being homeschooled has nearly doubled since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The National Home Education Research Institutes estimates about 5 million students were homeschooling in March 2021. In 2020, that number sat at 2.6 million.

“Interest has exploded,” said Christopher Chin, the president of Homeschool Louisiana, a faith-based support group for homeschooling families.

Chin said he’d expect this trend to continue even after the pandemic.

If the schools aren’t going to hold up standards in writing, reading and math, then pull your kids out. That way you can teach them what they need to know and keep the government’s grubby mitts off them, too.

“We don’t have to worry about the politics or circumstances of the virus,” Josh Miller said. “We can do what’s best for our kids’ education, and then you add in the curriculum that we’re not even in agreeance with and this is an obvious alternative.”

If you’re wondering what you can do to combat the cultural Marxism that has taken over school boards across the country and the idiocy they’re trying to ram down your children’s throats, seriously consider homeschooling or putting your kids in a private, Christian school.

The only warning I’ll offer is that homeschooling challenges the government’s power over your kids, so be prepared to see the junior commies try to regulate or outlaw homeschooling altogether. You won’t be allowed to contradict the official doctrine.

Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.

— Proverbs 22:6

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | His Paintings Are Sold As a Brush with Fame, Not Talent — and Certainly Not with Character

Daily Verse | Isaiah 61:8
“For I, the Lord, love justice;
I hate robbery and iniquity.”

Happy Thursday, campers! “Artichoke” — why would you eat a vegetable with the word “choke” in the name?

We’ve had some rather serious weather here this week. So serious, in fact, that we lost power on Tuesday night after a particularly strong thunder storm, rendering my Wednesday morning Broadside an impossibility. This was after a torrential downpour on Monday in which we received 6″ of rain. I know because I measured the water that collected in the old kiddie pool in my yard.

Speaking of six inches — a naked Hunter Biden in a newly surfaced video confesses to a naked prostitute that while he was close to overdosing in a Vegas hotel room in 2018, Russian drug dealers stole another one of his laptops to blackmail him. That would make three laptops that the son of Resident Biden has carelessly lost at one time or another.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY2PlXF9qTU

The story is from the Daily Mail and details how Biden and an anonymous hooker are doing drugs in a hotel room and Biden is telling her the story of losing the other laptop. This is a different laptop than the one he left at a Delaware computer repair shop that was featured in a New York Post story in October 2020, less than a month before the presidential election.

The president’s son told the prostitute that the allegedly stolen laptop was also full of compromising sex videos.

‘They have videos of me doing this,’ he said, referring to the filmed sex he just finished. ‘They have videos of me doing crazy f***ing sex f***ing, you know.

‘My computer, I had taken tons of like, just left like that cam on. And he would always put in a passcode and all that, you know what I mean? It was f***ing crazy sh**. And somebody stole it during that period of time. He did all this kind of like pretend search and sh*.’

The prostitute asked Hunter if he was worried the Russian alleged thieves would try to ‘blackmail’ him.

Hunter replied: ‘Yeah in some way yeah.’

Hunter Biden is a whoring, drug addicted, lying, grifting, hollow, shameless criminal. A chip off the old block, as they say. I don’t say that to be mean; I say that to be candid. It’s the truth and we shouldn’t be afraid to say it.

Our lousy mainstream and social media did their damnedest to kill the Post’s story on Biden’s laptop to protect his father’s residential ambitions because OrangeManBad and mean tweets. Now we’re stuck with the most radical administration in U.S. history which is flushing what remains of this once-great nation down the memory hole and moving us closer to the totalitarian state they long for.

Hunter Biden is who he is because he has no character. Forget so-called “Christian” character; he doesn’t even have good secular character. What father would let their daughter within 100 miles of this sleazebag?

The only reason he has any relevance at all is because his dad has been a serial politician for 50 years and, as a result, Hunter makes (as he brags on the video) “like a gazillion dollars.” The guy has no distinguishable talents. How the younger Biden “makes” a gazillion dollars is anybody’s guess, but we all know he’s now a “self-taught” artist who wants to sell his “abstract expressionist paintings” for half-a-million each (here, if you can stomach it).

It’s a natural pose for Hunter Biden. Just swap out paint for powdery white lines.

What absolutely galls me is the uber-hyper hypocrisy of the institutional left, which spent more than four years smearing Donald Trump, his wife and his children as Russian agents, grifters and generally immoral people, trying to take them down through lies, false insinuations, impeachment proceedings, FBI investigations, harassment campaigns and more.

Yet Hunter Biden is the exact embodiment of what they accused the Trumps of being and they not only ignore it, they expend a protracted campaign to cover it up. They protect him and his criminal activities even if it means he and his father a likely compromised by the Russians and the Chinese, putting our nation at great risk.

They’re the partisans. They’re the extremists. They’re the greatest threat to our nation.

You don’t have to hate Hunter Biden to be candid about who he is. His story is tragic, surviving with his brother Beau a car crash that took the lives of his mother and younger sister when he was almost 3-years-old. His father had just been elected to the Senate a few weeks earlier. That’s a terrible trauma to live through and no doubt it shaped who he’s become.

While it’s tragic and evokes sympathy from me for his barrel-bottom behavior, it’s still reckless behavior and any Republican candidate for president whose son (or daughter!) was caught on camera not just once, but multiple times, doing drugs and having sex with hookers or caught lying would have his campaign torpedoed then and there.

A double-standard exists in this country, and Hunter Biden is a beneficiary.

Daily Broadside | Think For Yourself Say Rogan and Paul

Daily Verse | Isaiah 53:2
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

Happy Tuesday, Broadsiders! I just burned 2,000 calories (that’s the last time I try making brownies).

Our overlords are trying to condition us to do what they say, using “public health” as the goad. They really have no authority or jurisdiction to be demanding that we get a shot or mask up or both, otherwise we aren’t allowed to participate in society.

Meanwhile, largescale events like Burn, Loot & Murder protests and the somewhat violent riots last year and stealth Marxist Barack Hussein Obama’s 60th birthday party pass without criticism while the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is specifically called out by Dr. Anthony Fauxchi.

Fauxchi is a fraudulent, compromised bureaucrat who should be removed from his post. Of more importance are the two videos below. Joe Rogan, one of the most popular podcasters today and host of The Joe Rogan Experience, has a hot take on where we’re headed if we as a society don’t resist the powers telling us we have to be vaccinated. The one at the bottom is the most important, since a sitting U.S. Senator, Rand Paul (R-KY) is calling for civil disobedience.

Be sure to watch both of them; I think they are sensing that Americans have just about had enough, and that we need to take action. Now.

Here’s one Rogan quote: “But as soon as you put the boots to them, as soon as you tell them, you have to do this, or you can’t do that, you have to listen to me. Now you have a mini dictator, you have a one step away from a king, you have a one step closer, you’re moving one step closer to a dictatorship. That’s what the f*** is happening. That’s what’s gonna happen with the vaccine passport.”

And here’s what Rand Paul had to say:

At one point he asks, “Do I sound fed up? That’s because I am.” And then he closes with this:

“We are at a moment of truth and a crossroads. Will we allow these people to use fear and propaganda to do further harm to our society, economy, and children? Or will we stand together and say, absolutely not? Not this time. I choose freedom.”

I also believe we are at a crossroads and are being backed into a corner. Unelected bureaucrats have assumed a power they don’t have and are telling us what to do, even though they are not following the science. I know from personal conversations that people on the ground in everyday life are tired of the petty tyrants getting their junior commie on.

I’ve frequently said that there is a lot of pent up irritation that needs to be gathered and focused on pushing back, but that we needed someone to lead that effort. Rand Paul’s short speech, while not stirring, is a good attempt at galvanizing support. It will take brave people to defy our government’s demands, but we have to remember that we don’t answer to them; they answer to us.

Daily Broadside | Vaccines Don’t Work the Way You Might Think

Daily Verse | Isaiah 48:11
For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this.
How can I let myself be defamed?
I will not yield my glory to another.

Happy Monday, my friends. I’d be a bazillionaire if I could cork black holes.

The block party on Friday night was a rousing success. The forecasted rain held off until the event was over. We had a crowd that stayed for the whole thing and we met a lot of people up and down our street we had never met before. A few families from a street north of us and a street south of us also came, so we got to meet people on other blocks in the larger ‘hood. Feedback was consistently positive that this was “a great idea” and “we needed this” and that we should do this “every year.” Which I think we’ll do. Others were inspired to pull the group together again as soon as an Oktoberfest is appropriate.

Nobody wore masks during the event, even though there were kids under ten to adults over 70 who were there. Unfortunately, the CDC and the illegitimate junta in the White House are sabre rattling about renewing mask mandates, requiring vaccine passports, and threatening to lock everything down again. In light of the renewed pandemic posturing, I want to call your attention to a couple of resources.

The first is called the Warrenton Declaration, a document of 36 statements which was “created in order to provide doctrinal clarity and coherence on issues of biblical authority and ethics related to medical mandates.” When I say that this blog is about “faith, culture and politics,” a document like this is the perfect blend of all three as the church comes to terms “with what it believes related to the intersecting areas of biblical ethics [faith], authority [culture], and medical mandates [politics].”

There are two main sections of the declaration: 1. “Authority” and 2. “Application to Medical Mandates.” The first section covering authority can be summed up as affirming that all authority everywhere belongs to Christ Jesus, and that all offices of human authority are subordinate to, and derivative of, his full authority.

The final statement in section one affirms that disobedience to authorities is “permissible should any command be given outside of the jurisdiction of the particular authority. For example, throughout history, civil governments have sought to force individuals into certain vocations, foisted improper controls over affairs of the church, and imposed restrictions over the number of children that a family is permitted to have. Frequently, these kinds of orders are claimed to be for the “greater good” of the public. To whatever extent these commands would not have required anyone to sin, obedience is still not morally obligated since these commands are outside the jurisdiction of the authority making the commands” (my emphasis).

Section two is the application to medical mandates of the affirmation and denial statements in the the first section. This section is made up of 21 statements, at the core of which are these (with my emphasis):

XXIV. WE DENY that the existence of communicable viruses, viral testing mechanisms, or the invention of vaccinations creates a new standard of morality whereby a healthy person simply conducting their affairs in society without vaccination, viral testing, or wearing a mask is evidence of criminally or morally reckless behavior. Moreover, if such a standard for violation of medical freedom is adopted, conceivably, civil governments could permanently regulate and restrict every facet of life since according to this same rationale, various flu-like viruses can be unknowingly spread at all times. Further, there are a host of other far more deadly dangers such as heart disease, which, like virus-related hospitalizations, also place a burden on the health system. The civil government does not then gain authority to ban soda intake for obese individuals.

XXV. WE AFFIRM that a biblically faithful view of the civil government sphere as well as the ecclesiastical government sphere provides no lawful jurisdiction for civil magistrates or ecclesiastical authorities to mandate or in any way coerce individuals to inject substances into themselves or their children or cover their mouths, noses, face, or any combination thereof, with masks.

XXVI. WE AFFIRM that any civil or ecclesiastical authority that attempts to coerce individuals or their children with any form of public banishment, fine, imprisonment, social ostracism, or other forms of coercion for not wearing a mask or injecting a substance into their bodies are ascribing to themselves authority not delegated by God and are in grievous sin (Matt 19:14Tit 3:101st Cor 1:10Rom 16:17).

In other words, there is no biblical support for civil or ecclesiastical authority that tries to force you or your children to inject a vaccine into themselves as a moral obligation or otherwise. I encourage you to read the whole thing.

The second resource I want you to listen to is this brief primer on respiratory viruses from Dr. Dan Stock during an Indiana school board meeting. It will be educational and underscore how anti-science the CDC and other leading “authorities” are being with their recommendations.

https://youtu.be/k5ElH3aZdtQ

His conclusion? The CDC, NIH and the Indiana State Board of Health are giving Hoosiers counter-factual guidance. It is excellent because he knows his material, speaks without notes and there isn’t a hint of pretense. If you think you need the vaccine, by all means, get it. But do it with informed consent, not as a result of government coercion.

My biggest fear is that our “authorities” recognize the Peking Lung Pox as an opportunity to train the populace to obey their mandates. There really is no scientific or moral reason behind the panic over Covid. So why are the politicians and drug makers and Bill Gates’s and Dr. Fauxchi pushing the vaccine so hard?

It’s about power, control and money. Reject the intrusion of government mandates on our Constitutional rights.

Daily Broadside | Don’t Take Scalps But Love Your Neighbor

Daily Verse | Isaiah 44:6
“This is what the Lord says—
Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.”

It’s Friday and the end of the week. Dancing in the rain is not as much fun as dancing in the shower.

I don’t typically share much that is personal on these pages, primarily because this isn’t a journal about my life. It’s a place for me to sound off about how I see faith, culture and politics — with an emphasis on politics. Anyone reading this blog for any length of time will know that I have strong opinions about our national politics and our political culture, and even stronger convictions about our rights as American citizens.

However, I just came in from cutting my lawn and am writing this for Friday morning. That’s relevant because we and some of our neighbors are hosting a block party for our street Friday night. We have about 75 people coming and we’ll have a taco truck, games for the kids, music, perhaps a small bonfire in the evening, and we invited the local sheriff to stop by.

We’re doing it because we want to get to know our neighbors. Earlier this year my wife and I invited couples near us to form a group to get to know each other around some meaningful conversation. We meet once a week for dinner and conversation, then spend an hour or more discussing a passage from the Gospel of John. It’s been a great way to build relationships with them and move past the wave and “Hey, howz it goin’?” stage of being neighbors.

The block party is another step in the process of building a community right where we live. What better way to break the ice than to bring the neighborhood together for an opportunity to do more than wave as they drive past the house or give them a nod as their garage door closes?

What surprised us is that the highway commissioner for our township was excited about what we are doing. She is fully supportive and will deliver tables, chairs, and blockades for each end of the street with “Block Party” signs. As my wife was working out the details with her, the commissioner said something to the effect of, “We need to be getting out and mixing it up after being locked down for so long.”

That’s true. The pandemic created a lot of fear and isolated people as they hid in their homes and behind masks. It’s tough enough in our current culture to get to know neighbors and the Chinese Lung Pox made it that much harder by keeping people separated.

As a Christ-follower, this is also a way to build relationships with people in whom God may be doing some work. Before his ascension, Jesus gave his disciples “the Great Commission.”

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

— Matthew 28:18-20

You can’t make disciples if you don’t know anybody, so getting introduced to neighbors is a practical way to start that process. I don’t go into the event with any agenda other than to meet people who live up and down the street and listen for what God may or may not be up to. I try to follow Henry Blackaby’s advice: “Watch to see where God is working and join Him in His work.”

That’s a different approach from what most Christians are taught, which is to “do” evangelism. “Evangelism” in the traditional sense of the term is a terrifying act in which you approach total strangers and ask them if they know where they’re going when they die, then share the “Four Spiritual Laws” with them and hope they make a decision to follow Jesus. After that you flee back to the group that sent you out and tell your story to them.

There’s no doubt the Four Spiritual Laws are biblical truth and explain our predicament in relationship to God. And it’s true that some people have come to faith through this method of outreach. But the approach — basically confronting someone with a heavy personal choice that they may or may not have ever thought about — isn’t necessarily the only, or even the most effective, way to talk to someone about Big Truth. We live in an easily offended, post-Christian society now.

Jesus certainly used different approaches in his ministry that depended on what he saw God his Father doing.

“I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does” (John 5:19).

So the problem, as it were, with the old style scalp-seeking method of evangelism, is that it bypasses what you see God doing and then joining him in it. The better way to approach making disciples, I believe, is through personal relationships and paying attention to what God is doing in those.

In order to have personal relationships, you have to spend time with people. That’s the deeper purpose behind the block party — not just the fun of eating tacos, meeting new people, playing some games and finding out what you have in common — but to discern whether there are needs to be met, questions to be answered, or connections to be made.

There is no pressure—just participation. As Blackaby also said:

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you Monday.

Daily Broadside | Lawlessness is a Feature of the New Normal

Daily Verse | Isaiah 43:11
“I, even I, am the Lord,
and apart from me there is no savior.”

Happy Thursday, my friends. What time should we invade Canada?

Look, we all know that the man sleeping in the White House with his Doctor Wife is an unprincipled fraud, a charlatan, a poser and a grifting opportunist whose brain is sputtering as it withers on the vine. As bad as all that is, none of it compares with the damage he’s doing to our country with his blatant disregard for the U.S. Constitution, which he swore to uphold on January 20.

We are a country of laws, which means that from the most powerful to the lowliest person in our society, everyone is to follow and be judged according to our laws, meaning that everyone is equal before the law. Even the junior commies spout, “No one is above the law!” when it suits their purposes.

Yet we are forced to watch as our ruling class flouts the law for partisan outcomes and no one in a position of power does anything to maintain law and order or hold the bastards accountable. Hillary Clinton, James Comey and Andrew Cuomo are three that immediately come to mind. They should all be in prison by now.

But close on their heels is none other than Resident Joey Biden, who shouldn’t be anywhere near the levers of power in this country but who was installed after the disgraceful coup staged by the openly corrupt Democrat machine planted across the fruited plain.

Joey Lawless is a law unto himself, refusing to enforce those that exist and making up those that don’t. For instance, we have laws governing who is allowed into the country, who isn’t, and how those who come here are processed. While there have always been border jumpers, Joey Lawless not only allows them to freely swarm in, but actively invites them to do so.

Although there’s a southern border on paper, for all intents and purposes one doesn’t exist in Biden’s reality.

Did you know that under Biden’s rule, the government has released more than 50,000 illegals since March without giving them a court date? That’s 50,000 people who are now de facto permanent residents. But wait! That’s not all!

A senior federal official who spoke with the Free Beacon expects Biden to end Title 42—a law used by former president Trump’s Centers for Disease Control to block migrants from entering the country—sometime this month. As part of the preparation for that policy reversal, senior Department of Homeland Security officials warned staff that they will have to process up to 1,200 family units a day. That number of family units works out to 312,000 a year, assuming the border does not see any future surges. Following their release from custody, those migrants are in effect free to stay, said one DHS official, because many immigrants skip their immigration court hearings sometimes scheduled two years after they are initially detained.

[…]

The internal directive further damaged morale within national security agencies where staff already feel overwhelmed with initiatives ordered by the Biden administration. These policies all seem focused on the singular purpose of letting in as many migrants as possible and forcing staff attention away from security threats entering the country.

Those who spoke with the Free Beacon described an agency undergoing a dramatic transformation under Biden and Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Some now question their mission as they prepare for humanitarian crises on the border after the end of Title 42 and Trump’s “Remain in Mexico Policy.”

“All of these people will become permanent residents. There’s no political will from the Biden administration to deport families once they’re already admitted. The White House knows that,” a DHS official said. “The end of Title 42 will result in de facto open borders.”

He chose not to end Title 42, but it will eventually. My emphasis on “312,000 family units per year,” which, if you assume an average of just 4 people per unit, is well over one million people who “will become permanent residents.”

This deeply angers me because it’s not natural population growth in our country. It’s now population displacement. These new residents will join what is most assuredly more than 30 million other illegals now sunk in our society and, while we can all agree that being compassionate toward the truly abused is as American as apple pie, we are not obligated to receive anyone and everyone who simply wants to come live here.

We are not the world’s homeless shelter.

We can argue over what is the right approach to immigration, but the bottom line is that we expect our government to protect its citizens. They are to defend our borders and provide security for its citizens, and our government, led by an illegitimate executive, is not only not doing that, he’s actively facilitating open borders.

For more detail on the impact that illegal aliens have on our society, read these two articles (Part I and Part II) by Jonathan Clay de Hale over at Illinois Family Action.

You know what else Joey Lawless is doing? He’s openly, willfully ignoring the unconstitutionality of an extension of a moratorium on evictions across the country and allowing his administration to enact a “targeted eviction moratorium after a wide-ranging federal ban expired over the weekend.”

Biden was asked multiple times about the impending announcement at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon. He insisted he did not want to get ahead of the CDC, but seemed to acknowledge the new order is likely to face legal challenges.

“Whether that option will pass constitutional measure with this administration, I can’t tell you. I don’t know,” Biden said. “There are a few scholars who say it will, and others who say it’s not likely to. But, at a minimum, by the time it gets litigated it will probably give some additional time while we’re getting that $45 billion out to people who are in fact behind in the rent and don’t have the money.”

My emphasis to underscore that the dementia patient sitting in the Oval Office is now gaming the system to get what his junior commies want: to put small mom and pop rental properties out of business and allow big conglomerates to buy them up at low cost and then pimp them out to the government to fill their coffers. It’s always — always! — about the money. Just throw it to the courts and let nine unelected bureaucrats justices determine if it’s legal or not, then clap the dust off your hands and move on.

You can’t have a country without borders and you can’t have a free country with a government choosing winners and losers. This administration is pro-foreigners, pro-commie and anti-American and anti-law. They choose which laws they want to enforce or not enforce, instead of doing their constitutional duty and carrying out the will of the people expressed through legally binding laws and, the grand-daddy of them all, the U.S. Constitution.

Joey Lawless can’t be trusted to carry out our laws unless it’s to make false charges of sedition or insurrection and hunt down elderly citizens whose only crime was wandering around the People’s House taking selfies. We are experiencing a reset in our country that does not favor the patriot or the proud American citizen. Lawlessness becomes anarchy, and anarchy inevitably leads to violence, death and destruction.

We the People are eventually going to be backed into a corner and will have a decision to make. Be ready.

Daily Verse | Isaiah 37:20
“Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God.”

We’ve made it to the halfway point of the week with as much behind us as in front of us, although the view doesn’t seem to change with Resident Biden still occupying the People’s House and his praetorian guard still occupying the Capitol, the Department of Defense and the FBI building with his shock troops only a dog-whistle away from wreaking havoc on our streets again.

For a guy who hasn’t been watching the Olympics, I’m spending a lot of time writing about them. I have another story for you today of an Olympian who’s joy and excitement over representing the United States simply overflows from her gold medal win.

Did you catch all that? What an enthusiastic, joyful and positive young woman! Tamyra Mensah-Stock, 28, a four-time All-American at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX, first acknowledges her dependence on God.

“It’s by the grace of God that I’m able to even move my feet. Like, I just leave it in His hands and I pray that all the practice, that the hell that my freaking coaches put me through, pays off. And every single time it does. And I get better and better.”

And then she goes on to absolutely gush about the United States.

Reporter: That American flag around your shoulders — it looks pretty good. How does it feel to represent your country like this?
Mensah-Stock: It feels amazing! I love representing the U.S. I freaking love living there! I love it and I’m so happy I get to represent U-S-A! Love it!

Notice how she pulls the flag tight around her like it’s a warm blanket right out of the dryer.

Fox News agrees.

Mensah-Stock, an unknown to Mainstreet USA before today’s interview after winning gold, is easily the most likable athlete to come out of the Games. Her smile, love of country, and positive nature have captured the attention of citizens who’ve been beaten over the head by social justice warriors who’ve sucked the fun out of the Games.

Holy intersectionality, Batman! It’s a religious black woman representing the United States of America who actually loves her country! Can’t be — she sounds like a white supremacist nationalist xenophobic Trump supporter!

Rest assured that her enthusiasm will be ignored by the mainstream media, aka the Democrat press corp. Can’t have someone like her contradicting the prevailing narrative, can we? She’s pouring cold water on the grievance grifters’ story! Hopefully the Left doesn’t try cancelling her.

I’m still not watching the Olympics, but stories like this remain fresh and encouraging for me.

More Tamyra Mensah-Stock and no Meghan Rapinoe, please.

Daily Broadside | U.S. Women’s Soccer Loses Again and It’s Glorious

Daily Verse | Isaiah 34:8
For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause.

Happy Tuesday, Broadsiders! I’m thinking I’ll finally open that box of Cracker Jack I have from 1974.

Yesterday I wrote about the Olympics that I’m not watching them because I’m tired of the woke-scolds telling me that I’m the source of all their problems and that the country they supposedly represent is the epitome of racism, paternalism, xenophobia and is, in fact, filled with deplorables. And, “while I am not actively cheering for these whiners to lose, I won’t mind if they do, so that they have no platform from which to be an activist.”

Some of the greatest offenders are certain womyn on the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team and I’m happy to report that they lost — again! — this time 1-0 to Canada, who hadn’t beaten the U.S. team in 20 years. That loss eliminated the U.S. from a chance at gold or silver, meaning their only hope is for a bronze.

Boo-freakin’-hoo.

That doesn’t mean I’m happy that Canada won. They did it with “the first openly transgender and non-binary athlete,” named Quinn. As in, “Quinn.” That’s it. No other identifier necessary, except for pronouns, which in Quinn’s case are “they/them.”

The Olympic games are dead and will only become deader as more “trans-athletes” are allowed to compete, like New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard. At this point, I’m learning to live without a lot of things that progressivism has killed. My greatest disappointment is that the Olympics are now just another loose thread being pulled out of the common fabric that used to knit our nation together.

Not anymore, it doesn’t.

While reading through Isaiah yesterday I came across a verse that describes the United States of America, even though it wasn’t written with her in mind:

Your rigging hangs loose:
The mast is not held secure,
the sail is not spread.

I often think metaphorically of the U.S. as an 18th century schooner that is adrift on the high seas. You can tell it used to be a beautiful ship. Stately, fine craftsmanship, heavy wood, three masts, impressive sails. But there are leaks in the vessel, the sails are torn and flapping in the wind, the bow is smeared with grime and slime, her anchors are gone and it’s getting harder and harder to navigate as gale-force winds beat down on her. Worst of all, there’s been a mutiny and she’s under control of the onboard mob, who don’t appreciate how she was built or what it takes to sail her. She is truly at risk of running aground and those who know her don’t fully understand the danger and won’t challenge the mutineers for fear of being thrown in the brig or being made to walk the plank. Therefore, sooner or later, all aboard will perish.

Bleak, I know.

But everybody knows what’s causing the Olympics ratings crash, and at least one publication has said it out loud.

Half of the country isn’t proud of America. The other half dislikes the politicization of events like the Olympics. Couple the two, and we have a ratings disaster for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

[…]

On top of that, there’s the political divide, which is now front and center at a world event. Anything that represents America is now controversial. The U.S. flag triggers the Left, while the social stances of some athletes turn off the Right. Thus, almost everyone has lost interest in the Games. American viewers don’t care if their team wins or loses anymore. So fewer and fewer of them are watching.

Told you.

Meghan Rapinoe will leave the team and go make her living modeling or spokesperson-ing Victoria’s Secret underwear, killing that brand, too. Then she’ll fade into the background, like her former teammate Abby Wambach and we won’t hear from her anymore.

One can dream, anyway.
