Daily Broadside | It’s About Time the Meat Puppet Was Impeached

Now we’re getting somewhere.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) announced on Sept. 12 that the House will open an impeachment inquiry to investigate the possible involvement of President Joe Biden in the business dealings of his son Hunter Biden.

“House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct. Taken together these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption,” Mr. McCarthy said.

“Today I am directing our house committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This logical next step will give our committees, the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public,” Mr. McCarthy said.

Look, I’m no fan of the timing or sequence of this impeachment inquiry. It comes after two failed attempts to impeach and remove president-in-exile Donald J. Trump during his first term, led by the unhinged harridan Nancy Pelosi, which may have the appearance of retaliation and will undoubtably be framed that way by the Marxist press corps (see below what I found after writing that).

But those impeachment proceedings were fabricated with flimsy evidence. The Democrats, true to form, weaponized the tool of impeachment by stretching its definition to get rid of the only man to face down the Deep State and its hideous strength. We were warned that once the Democrats frivolized the impeachment process, it would be very difficult to return it to its original purpose and solemnity: to remove a president “from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

In this case, however, there is overwhelming evidence that Brandon has committed, at the very least, “Bribery” and it very well may bleed into Treason. But the regime media insists that there is no evidence.

McCarthy’s decision represents a major reversal for the speaker after he told the conservative website Breitbart earlier this month that he wouldn’t open an impeachment inquiry without a vote of the full House. It comes as he doesn’t appear to have enough votes to proceed on the issue, facing skepticism from across the GOP spectrum due to the lack of evidence implicating the president in Hunter Biden’s transgressions.

It also marks a reversal for McCarthy from 2019, when he inveighed against Democrats for initiating an impeachment inquiry into then-President Donald Trump before a vote, questioning the legitimacy of such an investigation unless the House were to authorize it. House Democrats eventually voted to authorize it.

White House spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement that House Republicans have “turned up no evidence of wrongdoing” in nine months of investigating the president.

Rep. Scott Perry and company absolutely torched a “reporter” who wanted to know about the threat of impeachment “what evidence you have as opposed to allegations” and whether the inquiry is “about political revenge.”

“Ample predication.” You bet there is. As McCarthy said,

“Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings. Eyewitnesses have testified that the president joined on multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions, dinners resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his sons and his son’s business partners,” McCarthy said.

“We know that bank records show that nearly $20 million in payments were directed to the Biden family members and associates through various Shell companies. The Treasury Department alone has more than 150 transactions involving the Biden family. Another business associates that were flagged as suspicious activity by U.S. banks. Even a trusted FBI informant has alleged a bribe to the Biden family. Biden used his official office to coordinate with Hunter Biden’s business partners about Hunter’s role in Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company,” he continued.

And there are also rumors that a recording of the Resident exists that, when made public, will shut down any talk of a second term (and hopefully put him behind bars).

One can only hope.

Daily Broadside | A Confidential Source Says the Bidens Were Bribed to Protect Burisma

I feel like a truant high schooler when I miss more than a day of posting, but the truth is that my life is just packed this summer with all kinds of projects and a wedding in the fall. I really want the Daily Broadside to live up to its name, so I’ll keep pushing to figure out how to do better.

Thanks to those of you commenting, and hello to some new suscribers. Glad to have you.

Did you see that Sen. Chuck Grassley released a document today in which a confidential human source (CHS) says that the Ukrainian oligarch who allegedly bribed Joe and Hunter Biden, was “coerced” into sending them money?

Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky, the Ukrainian oligarch who allegedly bribed Joe and Hunter Biden, was “coerced” into sending them money, according to an FBI FD-1023 form released Thursday by Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley.

Zlochevsky and the confidential human source (CHS) allegedly participated in a phone call after the 2016 presidential election, in which Zlochevsky said he was “pushed to pay” the Bidens and did not want to send the money, according to the form.

“CHS asked Zlochevsky whether he was concerned about Burisma’s involvement with the Bidens. Zlochevsky stated he didn’t want to pay the Bidens and he was ‘pushed to pay’ them,” the FD-1023 form reads.

“(CHS explained the Russian term Zlochevsky used to explain the payments was ‘poluchili’ (transliterated by the CHS), which literally translates to ‘got it’ or ‘received it,’ but is also used in Russian-criminal-slang for being ‘forced or coerced to pay’,” the form continues.

“CHS then stated, ‘l hope you have some back-up (proof) for your words (namely, that Zlochevsky was ‘forced’ to pay the Bidens). Zlochevsky replied he has many text messages and ‘recordings’ that show that he was coerced to make such payments,” the form adds.

“Zlochevsky asked whether it would make any (legal) difference whether he voluntarily made such payments, or if he was ‘forced’ to make them,” the form continues.

The Ukrainian oligarch said he had a total of “17 recordings” involving the Bidens including two featuring Joe Biden, according to the form. The other 15 recordings allegedly only feature Hunter Biden, who served on Burisma’s board beginning in April 2014 until he left the position in 2019.

The FBI sat on this information to protect “the Big Guy.” Replace the name “Biden” with “Trump” and the ink wouldn’t even be dry on the leak to the press before the articles of impeachment were drafted. Yet this scummy agency and Merrick Garland’s DOJ do NOTHING about this clear threat to national security.

Congress and Granny Box Wine impeached Trump twice with little more than hearsay, yet the evidence is overwhelming that the Biden family has been involved in criminal, if not treasonous, activity to enrich themselves and to hell with what it means to the country.

CHS was made aware of Hunter Biden’s position on the Burisma board of directors during the initial meeting, where he was told Hunter Biden was hired to “protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems,” while Joe Biden was serving as vice president, according to the FBI form. Burisma wanted additional assistance with the U.S. acquisition because they did not believe Hunter Biden was smart, the FBI form continues.

But Joe considers Hunter the smartest guy he knows.

At the Austria meeting, the CHS allegedly told Burisma it would be difficult for the IPO to take place while then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General (PGO) Viktor Shokin was investigating the firm. Zlochevsky told the source, “Hunter will take care of all of those issues through his dad,” according to the FBI form.

Oh. So a protection racket. But the Resident swears he never discussed business dealings with his son backed by his word as a Biden.

How much money did the Ukrainian pay the Bidens?

After an investigation of Burisma by Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was disclosed in 2016, the source told Mykola Zlochevsky, owner of Burisma, that the disclosure would have a negative effect on the prospective initial public offering. Mr. Zlochevsky replied that Mr. Hunter Biden “will take care of all of those issues through his dad,” according to the document.

Mr. Zlochevsky was also cited as saying that it cost $5 million to pay one Biden and $5 million to pay another Biden.

The source replied that payments to the Bidens would complicate matters and that the Bidens didn’t have experience with the oil and gas sector, according to the document. Mr. Zlochevsky said that despite his low opinion of Mr. Hunter Biden’s intelligence, Mr. Zlochevsky needed to keep him on the board “so everything will be okay.” He also said both Bidens had told him that Mr. Hunter Biden needed to remain on the board.

At about the same time, Mr. Joe Biden, U.S. vice president at the time, was pressuring Ukrainian officials to fire Mr. Shokin.

“‘We’re leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor’s not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Mr. Joe Biden said at a public event about the interaction, referring to a $1 billion loan guarantee he threatened to withhold. “Well, son of a [expletive]. He got fired.”

Mr. Shokin has said that the threat was cited when he was ousted. He said in a sworn statement that then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko asked him to resign because of “pressure from the U.S. presidential administration, in particular from Joe Biden.”

The FBI source told the bureau that he gleaned from the conversation that payments had already been made to the Bidens, presumably to deal with Mr. Shokin.

The Bidens are a corrupt, malicious, self-gratifying crime family. While they use their positions of power and proximity to power to enrich themselves and lie about everything to maintain their grift, they destroy the country they swore to serve. Well, only Brandon swore, but he and his family are suckling at the teats of the great American sow.

If our government now protects the corrupt and prosecutes the innocent, looking for a crime that fits the man, we no longer have a “democracy” or a “republic.” We have an unaccountable, lawless criminal enterprise that is hellbent on keeping its power and protecting itself.

The colonies of the 1700s rebelled over much less.

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | We’re In The Very Best of Hands

Hey, remember when 51 security officials all signed and published a letter declaring that the Hunter Biden laptop “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation”? They all swore that in their expert opinion, we should ignore the emails, documents, videos and pictures that painted a picture of Hunter Biden as a whoring, exhibitionist drug user who sold his father’s influence for millions of dollars that he took for himself, his friends, and associates with ten percent for the “Big Guy” because Russia’s objectives were “to create political chaos in the United States” and “to undermine the candidacy of former Vice President Biden and thereby help the candidacy of President Trump.”

Probably all deep fakes and AI propaganda, right?

Yeah, well, that letter is exactly what we thought it was: a disinformation op organized by the Biden campaign and, specifically, by Anthony Blinken, the foreign policy advisor for the Biden campaign and current Secretary of State.

A former acting CIA director has admitted to Congress that he organized the letter that falsely portrayed Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation in an effort to influence the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden and that he did so at the direction of current Secretary of State Antony Blinken, according to a letter released Thursday by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.

The extraordinary admission by career intelligence officer Michael J. Morell provides stunning evidence that the now-infamous letter from 51 security officials in October 2021 was not an organic intelligence community initiative but rather a political dirty trick originating with Blinken and the Biden campaign.

Jordan sent a letter demanding Blinken answer a series of questions about Morell’s stunning testimony, as lawmakers weighed the enormity of America’s top diplomat being willing to accuse a nuclear-armed superpower of interfering in the 2020 election without evidence. That letter included major snippets of Morell’s testimony.

“A political dirty trick.” That doesn’t even begin to describe it — it’s the very definition of election interference. Morell admits that he did what he did to help get Biden elected. They wanted to put these immoral scags in office because OrangeManBad.

He also testified that the Biden campaign team coordinated to release the statement on the laptop to a specific reporter at the Washington Post and admitted that he got involved to help give Biden a leg up on Trump during the debates.

“There were two intents,” he said. “One intent was to share our concern with the American people that the Russians were playing on this issue; and, two, it was [to] help Vice President.” When asked why he wanted to help Biden, he replied, “because I wanted him to win the election.”

Blinken, Morell, and this cadre of soulless, unAmerican spooks conspired to sow doubt about what we knew then and know now: that the laptop is Hunter Biden’s and proves that the Biden family is a criminal enterprise that has enriched itself off the backs of the American people while it destroys our country.

In a sworn interview with the House Judiciary Committee last week, Morell admitted it was Joe Biden’s presidential campaign that prompted him to write the infamous letter, according to the Post.

After hearing from Blinken, Morell admitted that he solicited signatures for his letter from 50 other former intel officials.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is set to release a report in the next couple of weeks on the origins of the “Dirty 51” letter, and it will reportedly show “it constituted corrupt interference in the 2020 presidential election.”

We can prove that the entire purpose of this letter at the outset was to influence a presidential election with some of the most senior people who have ever been in our intelligence community using the imprimatur of their security clearances to pave the way for Joe Biden’s presidency,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) told Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast this week.

“Morell wanted to be Joe Biden’s CIA director, got a phone call from Tony Blinken, who was representing the Biden campaign, saying, ‘Gee, Mike, doesn’t this Hunter Biden laptop look like Russian disinformation?’ ” said Gaetz.

“Morell testifies that then triggers him to be the ringleader of an enterprise to go to others and to put together a letter for the specific purpose of use by Joe Biden in the presidential debate … We can prove that and much more,” the Florida congressman added.

Unlike Adam Schiff-for-brains who claimed to have irrefutable evidence of Trump’s RUSSIAN COLLUSION!, I trust that when Gaetz says they can prove it, they can prove it. And it would be nice, when they do, if SOMEONE WOULD GO TO PRISON.

Two days ago, Marjorie Taylor Green added more disturbing allegations about Hunter and the whole Biden family. Watch the video and have a barf bag nearby.

It’s all coming so fast and furious. There’s also an anonymous whistleblower alleging a coverup in the Hunter Biden investigation that involves possible perjury on the part of — wait for it — Attorney General Merrick Garland.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Merrick Garland is the unnamed official whose sworn testimony before Congress is being challenged in a bombshell letter from an IRS whistleblower’s attorney that also alleges a coverup in the Hunter Biden criminal investigation, The Post has learned.

Attorney Mark Lytle wrote Wednesday that the longtime IRS employee wants to provide information to congressional leaders to “contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee” — Garland —and also to detail “preferential treatment” in the criminal probe of the first son.

The whistleblower already made disclosures to the inspectors general of the Treasury and Justice departments.

Please give me a second to catch my breath and absorb what I’ve just learned. Like you, I couldn’t have seen this coming in a million years.

These nasty anti-American grifters and power-mad politicians have done untold damage to our country. Without their interference, Trump may very well have had another four years to build on the foundation he laid during his first four. Instead, we’re in an economic, political and moral nightmare foisted on us by a few untouchables in the top echelons of government.

Government of the people, by the people and for the people is no longer true in our nation.

Our society is falling down around our heads, led by the evil and relentless progressive Democrats, media, national institutions and NeverTrump (I yet repeat myself quadrupley). But the one thing that never changes is the persistent strength of God alone.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

— Psalm 46:4-7

I’m traveling this weekend so there will be no Daily Broadside on Monday.

Have a great weekend.

Daily Broadside | The Pain at the Pump is the Point

Daily Verse | Psalm 68:19
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
    who daily bears our burdens.

Thursday’s Reading: Psalms 73-77

It’s Thursday and Brandon is floating the idea of a 3-month gas tax holiday. Of all the options the guy has to pull us out of the economic spiral we’re in, letting me keep $0.184/gal will give me what — $3.12 every time I fill up? Great, that means I can afford a dozen eggs once a week.

Well, but see, he’s going to do that for 3 whole months! I’m no math wiz, but it seems like he’s offering me, tops, $37.44 to ease the pain at the pump.

Thanks Joe!

Never forget that Brandon told us that he was going to kill our use of fossil fuels and in that, at least, he’s been a screaming success.

He wasn’t kidding. The day after he was inaugurated, he signed an executive order banning the fourth phase of development of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have delivered oil from Canada to refineries in the United States. The move was the final battle in the years-long war environmentalists had waged against the project; TC Energy, the operator of the pipeline, abandoned it less than six months later.

Read more here, but wear a shower cap so you can’t pull your hair out.

Brandon blames Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for skyrocketing gas prices. Maybe a little, but here’s what he’s contributed.

American oil production has yet to recover to pre-pandemic levels as Presidentish Joe Biden has used his executive powers to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline, canceled offshore oil leases in Alaska, and halted new gas and oil drilling permits.

It’s a crisis of his own making.

It’s intentional.

All to fight some fake “climate crisis” that always threatens but never materializes.

It’s all being done to kill our individual and corporate independence, making a mobile society immobile, all to satisfy environmental weenies who start with false premises.

Modern extreme environmentalism assumes mankind to somehow be apart from nature and acting upon it independently.  Yet, mankind is a part of nature and our actions are, therefore, also a part of nature …

The modern environmental movement is built on false philosophical premises – that mankind is apart from nature, that nature is static, and many others.

What I find most fascinating about all this, is the adoption of such false philosophical premises is rooted in a presumption of god-like status for mankind.  For Christians, seeking such a status is the very root and beginning of the concept of sin.

The idea that mankind can somehow change the climate by eliminating fossil fuels strikes me as the same kind of attitude driving the society that tried to build the Tower of Babel. God Himself laughs heartily at our puny ravings of grandeur:

Can you raise your voice to the clouds
and cover yourself with a flood of water?
Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
Who gives the ibis wisdom
    or gives the rooster understanding?
Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
when the dust becomes hard
and the clods of earth stick together?

Not you, buttercup.

Back to Brandon. He’s literally trying to kill the oil industry.

When Biden was running for president, he promised to shut down oil producers: “No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period.” He pledged to put the country on “an irreversible” path toward “doing away with” fossil fuels.

On Day One as president, Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline, sending a message of no new pipelines anywhere, period.

In the months that followed, he stopped all sales of leases to drill on federal lands or offshore, meaning zero new leases allowing oil to be brought out of the ground.

And in September, House Democrats introduced legislation to stop banks from lending money or investing capital for new or expanded fossil fuel production. That legislation hasn’t passed, but it sent a clear message. The oil industry is being shut down.

Here’s how deranged this fool is.

Out of touch as ever, President Biden celebrated record-high gas prices Monday, gushing that the pump pain was part of “an incredible transition” of the US economy away from fossil fuels.

“[When] it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over,” Biden said during a press conference in Japan following his meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

What I want to know is, how can one man make the decision to shut down an industry that our society — and our world — is so dependent on? Where does that political power come from? Is it constitutional?

He shouldn’t be able to do that just to pander to the small percentage of environmental whackos in our country while wrecking the economy.

I’m sure it’s because the government can regulate and deny or approve drilling, especially on “federal” land (which is a whole other question — who gave “the government” that land?). Stupid us for allowing them to take that power unto themselves.

Wrecking our economy and making it hurt in the process is not working “for” the people but against the people. And we shouldn’t have to sit here and take it.

Daily Broadside | Trump Candidates Win Bigly While Brandon Struggles to Stay Afloat

Daily Verse | Ezra 6:14
So the elders of the Jews continued to build and prosper under the preaching of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah, a descendent of Iddo.

Thursday’s Reading: Ezra 7-8

Thursday and while I’ve written several posts about the leaked SCOTUS opinion reversing Roe v. Wade and there are still a lot of ripples from that dastardly, unconscionable, cowardly, illegal and unAmerican act of sabotage, there are other things happening while we suffer under the fraudulent Brandon junta that need some daylight to encourage us.

The recent CIVIQS rolling job approval average shows that Brandon is underwater in 46 states. Might I remind you that we only have 50? That means the cockwomble in the White House is scorned by 92 percent of the country. The other eight percent in the four states where Brandon is loved are:

  • Hawaii: 49 percent approval, 41 percent disapproval
  • Maryland: 46 percent approval, 42 percent disapproval
  • Massachusetts: 46 percent approval, 42 percent disapproval
  • Vermont: 51 percent approval, 37 percent disapproval

What the heck is going on in Vermont that more than half of voters “approve” of the job he’s doing?

Overall, the poll showed Biden with only 35 percent approval from the respondents and a 55 percent disapproval, and ten percent who have no opinion. The poll showed Biden with net approval of negative 19.

Here’s Brandon’s perpetual popularity calculation over at FiveThirtyEight, where the gap is not quite as wide (10.5 points) but nonetheless disastrous for the “chief executive” of these United States. You know he’s not chief executive-ing anything.

And here’s RealClearPolitics favorability ratings chart from May 11 where he’s upside down by 9 points.

And still we’re expected to believe that Brandon totally got #81MillionVotes, you guys, because he was so wildly popular and would restore our norms and put the adults back in charge. The greatest fraud foisted on We the People in the history of these United States.

Meanwhile, as Brandon circles the drain, president-in-exile Donald J. Trump continues his streak as kingmaker.

Tuesday’s results make Trump-endorsed candidates 58-1 in the midterm primaries thus far, as all 22 candidates who received the 45th president’s nod in Ohio and Indiana won their races on May 3, while all 33 Trump-backed candidates in Texas either won their primaries or advanced to runoffs. Of the May 3 races, the most notable victor was J.D. Vance in Ohio, who earned the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate with the help of a late Trump endorsement.

The most puzzling of Trump’s endorsements is Pennsylvania Senate candidate Mehmet Oz over surging opponent Kathy Barnette. Oz is not a conservative; he has supported transgenderism, abortion and red flag laws, all of which are opposed by conservatives.

On the other hand, Barnette is a black conservative Christian woman who was conceived when her mother was raped at age 11 by a 21-year-old man. She is well within the margin of error in the polling.

Seems to me that Trump would do better endorsing Barnette. However, you can hardly argue with his record of 58-1 in the midterm primaries. The real test will be in November as Republicans try to heave the dead wood out of the swamp and gain veto-proof majorities so that come 2024, the table is set to permanently roll back the serious damage done by the anti-American communist stooges in the White House and the deep state.

On the other hand, Resident Brandon is slow on the endorsements. Not sure if it’s because he’s being selective or that no one wants him within spitting distance of their campaign.

Biden has made just four endorsements since taking office: Reps. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.), Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) and Shontel Brown (D-Ohio), as well as former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who lost a bid to regain his old job last fall.

I’m guessing the latter.

This is all good news, for now. With the economy in decline, food shortages looming, inflation still up at 40-year highs, gas prices in the mid-four-dollar ranges, rising interest rates, mostly peaceful illegal protests outside of conservative Supreme Court Justices’ homes, a new Ministry of Truth headed by a partisan liar that is nothing more than a tool to go after conservative voices in the public square and so on and so on — it seems that even the liberals among us have had enough.

Let’s hope that holds true through the end of the year so that we can neuter Brandon and make him a lame castrated duck for the rest of his White House occupation.

Daily Broadside | So Glad We’re Back to a Stable World

Daily Verse | Exodus 12:40-41
Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions left Egypt.

Monday’s Reading: Exodus 15-18

Monday and we’re now into the first full week of Brandon’s second year as Resident as Russia! Russia! Russia! threatens to invade Ukraine at the invitation delivered last week by the dunce in the White House; “minor incursion” and all that. Do you know that Trump was the only president in the last 30 years to not start or escalate existing foreign conflicts or war? Barring some kind of intervention, that’s all about to change as our military service members in their high-heels, pregnancy flight suits and vaccines prepare to defend Ukraine against Russian aggression and mockery of our woke civilian military.

The US and its allies will deliver a “swift, severe and united response” if Russia invades Ukraine, the secretary of state, Antony Blinken, warned on Sunday amid rising tensions.

Maybe. I don’t trust anything that Blinken says nor the administration’s competence to deliver or sustain a smack-down on the Russians. Perhaps their attitude is the same as Megamind’s:

The only reason Russia is even making the move on Ukraine is that Brandon is an empty suit who reads whatever is put on his teleprompter. He’s certainly not a geopolitical genius, as his catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan showed us. Effects of the invasion could be harsh for the U.S.

Treasurys are a traditional haven during periods of geopolitical and economic stress. A rally in Treasurys would pull down yields, which move in the opposite direction of prices. A Treasury selloff has pushed up yields, with the 10-year Treasury rate TMUBMUSD10Y, 1.778% finishing near 1.77% Friday after hitting a nearly two-year high earlier in the week.

The Swiss franc, another popular haven, could also rally, with the euro/Swiss franc EURCHF, 0.12% currency pair likely to fall to CHF1.03 “on a frozen rope if Russia moves,” Donnelly said. The euro bought 1.043 francs Friday.

Also:

If Russia invades Ukraine, inflation-weary Americans will likely pay even higher prices at the pump.Oil prices have already shot up to seven-year highs in recent days. A conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which the White House has warned could be imminent, would have the potential to drive them much higher. That’s because Russia is the No. 2 oil producer on the planet, behind only the United States. And Ukraine is a key energy transit hub, where a large amount of Russian natural gas exports to Europe flow through.

An invasion of Ukraine would trigger immediate fears of sanctions from Washington on Russia’s vast energy resources, damage to the region’s energy infrastructure and raise the specter of Vladimir Putin weaponizing exports of natural gas and crude oil.

Investors would buy first and ask questions later.

What does Russia want?

The Kremlin wants what it says: an end to NATO expansion, a rollback of previous expansion, a removal of American nuclear weapons from Europe, and a Russian sphere of influence. However, Putin may accept less. The Kremlin’s primary goal is a guarantee that Belarus, Ukraine, and Georgia will never belong to a military or economic bloc other than the ones Moscow controls and that Russia will be the ultimate arbitrator of the foreign and security policy of all three states. In essence, this conflict is about whether 30 years after the demise of the Soviet Union, its former ethnic republics can live as independent, sovereign states or if they still must acknowledge Moscow as their de facto sovereign.

The G7 is threatening harsh economic sanctions that would severely hurt Russia, so it’s possible that an invasion can be avoided. But maybe not:

The United States has ordered the families of all American staff at the US Embassy in Ukraine to leave the country amid heightened concern that Russia, which has massed troops on the border, is about to invade.

In a statement on Sunday, the State Department also said that non-essential embassy staff could leave Ukraine at government expense and that all Americans should consider departing immediately.

[…]

The US Embassy in Kyiv warned that “military action by Russia could come at any time and the United States government will not be in a position to evacuate American citizens in such a contingency, so US citizens currently present in Ukraine should plan accordingly.”

Take them at their word, embassy staff.

A Russian invasion could lead to a much bigger conflict and pull focus away from Brandon’s problems at home and perhaps trigger aggression by China and Iran, two other foes who have, respectively, designs on Taiwan and avenging the loss of top commander Qasem Soleimani who died by a US drone strike two years ago. If either of them act while we’re dealing with Russia, all bets are off.

But at least the tweets are nice, right NeverTrump?

Daily Broadside | Brandon Locks Up Nomination for “Worst President Ever” in Just His First Year!

Daily Verse | Exodus 4:13
But Moses said, “O Lord, please send someone else to do it.”

Friday’s Reading: Exodus 7-11
Saturday’s Reading: Exodus 12-14

Friday and we’re officially into the second year of the catastrophic failure that is the Brandon administration. Joey Sugar Cone was, at best, a mediocre Senator during his years in the upper chamber, and even that’s being generous. He’s always been an empty, clueless, vacuous, talentless greasy fabulist in a suit without an original thought or spine, and zero leadership skills.

He’s an actor who’s fed his lines by a staff that is paid to make him look smart. But get him away from his script and he says things like, “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black,” or “it depends on what [Russia] does [in Ukraine]. It’s one thing if it’s a minor incursion,” or “There’s going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of an embassy in the—of the United States from Afghanistan.”

Now he’s old and his mental acuity (if you can call it that), is in decline. Combined with his untalented, incompetent, pretentious buffoonery over the last fifty years and you get what we’re looking at today: an unmitigated disaster of a man who has no wisdom, no idea how to navigate the political waters he’s floating on, and is an empty vessel onto which the extremists he brought with him into the White House project their vomit-inducing ideology.

The result of Brandon’s empty rhetoric and yummy vanilla ice cream cones?

  • Brandon revoked the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline and killed our energy independence. That contributed to a 60 percent rise in gas prices, the highest since 1980.
  • Brandon botched our withdrawal from Afghanistan, getting 13 U.S. soldiers killed and abandoning thousands of American civilians and allies to the Taliban.
  • Brandon has U.S. inflation running at 39-year highs, with 6.8 percent year-to-year inflation, the greatest 12-month increase since 1982. December’s inflation rate was 7 percent.
  • Brandon can’t fix supply chain issues, causing a shortage of essential commodities across the country.
  • Brandon has created even more division than under Trump with his administration demonizing conservatives and Republicans as “domestic terrorists.” Brandon has also likened his ideological opponents as the worst of racist Democrats like Bull Connor and George Wallace while trying to wear the mantle of Abraham Lincoln.
  • Brandon promised that he would shut down the Peking Lung Pox, but its offspring are running rampant across the country. More people have died of the virus under his watch (426,000) than all that died under Trump. By his own logic, Brandon should resign: “220,000 Americans dead … anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as President of the United States of America.”
  • Brandon has presided over the collapse of our southern border, with 1.7 million illegal aliens apprehended crossing our border in 2021.
  • Brandon sits at a 42 percent approval rating with at least on poll putting him at 33%.

Has Brandon restored our norms yet? Is everybody quite at peace and harmony now that Brandon is Resident and Orange Man Bad is gone? No more mean tweets, right?

If you were looking for Jimmy Carter 2.0, you must be thrilled.

Have a good weekend.

Daily Broadside | Manchin Sinks Biden’s Build Back Better Bill

Daily Verse | Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Monday’s Reading: James 1-5

Happy Monday and finally — FINALLY — a moment of sanity from a Democrat. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) told Fox News Sunday that he would vote “no” on Biden’s Build Back Better (BBB) monstrosity of a spending bill. Assuming he’s telling the truth and not trying to strong-arm other concessions by threatening to vote no, that effectively kills BBB.

This of course sent liberals into hyperventilation mode about the end of democracy as though “democracy” is somehow dependent on trillions of untamed spending to stay alive.

Also, we’re a constitutional republic, not a democracy.

Responses were vicious.

A couple of Manchin’s colleagues took turns ripping him on CNN’s “State of the Union.” Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., started by accusing Manchin of lacking the courage to stand up to pharmaceutical companies, and an outraged Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., said the West Virginia senator was obstructing the president’s agenda.

Well, yes, Rep. Pressley, he is. He’s allowed to do that. Note that not all Republicans vote in lockstep, either. They had a chance to repeal Obamacare when Paul Ryan (*spit*) was speaker of the House with a Republican majority in both the House and the Senate and a Republican president — and they couldn’t get it done.

It’s insanity, the stuff the Democrats want to spend money on — money we don’t have, by the way.

Either way, even if something reemerges from the rubble, it is not going to be anything along the lines of the “transformational” type of legislation liberals envisioned earlier in the year. The idea was to augment the role of government in every aspect of individuals’ lives — with subsidized child care, a government takeover of preschool, more financing for college, a more generous Obamacare, and an expanded Medicare. Not to mention hundreds of billions of dollars in investments toward the Green New Deal. That magnitude of legislation is no longer in the cards, even if Manchin warms up to passing something.

Manchin’s a Democrat, but he’s a reasonable Democrat, probably the last of the species. (Well, there’s Kyrsten Sinema and Tulsi Gabbard. It’s a dying breed.) He has considered the enormous costs of the bill and can’t justify voting for it.

“I’ve always said this, Bret: if I can’t go home and explain to the people of West Virginia, I can’t vote for it,” Manchin told guest host Bret Baier. “And I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation. I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible. I can’t get there.”

He also cited other factors that helped him with his decision.

The senator said that the rise in inflation, the national debt and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic helped him come to his decision on the massive social spending bill.

Me? I’m so relieved that I’m thinking of writing a thank you note to Manchin. He just sank an incredibly irresponsible bill that would add a massive amount of debt to an already massive amount of debt.

America owes him a debt of gratitude.

Daily Broadside | Democrats are Communists Wrapped in the American Name

Daily Verse | Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in a man’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Friday and another week behind us on the road to either serfdom or civil war, as I see it. I wrote yesterday that patriotic, “Normal” Americans are being forced into a defensive position by the cultural Marxists, who have advanced through our civic institutions and now control nearly all the levers of power. I honestly don’t know how much longer we can claim to be a “free” people.

If you want absolute proof that the current administration, fronted by a moron who has failed upward for more than 50 years, are dyed-in-the-wool socialists communists, you have to look no further than their response to the uprising in the island-nation of Cuba, just 90 miles off the coast of Florida.

For 60 years the Cuban people have suffered poverty and oppression under a Communist regime. They’ve finally had enough and are rising up en masse to challenge the rule of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel. They face a military that, so far, is loyal to the president, who declared that combat orders have been given.

Nonetheless, Cubans have been demonstrating, shouting slogans like “Freedom!” and “Down with communism!” and “Freedom for the people of Cuba!” Protesters chanted “Freedom,” “Enough” and “Unite.” News outlets report that more than 100 activists are missing or held by the Cuban government. Others report that police have fired on and beaten demonstrators. Many waved American flags.

The response of our feckless “leaders” has been restrained. The New York Times labeled Cubans’ calls for freedom an “anti-government slogan.” It took Resident Biden 24-hours (with pressure from Republican lawmakers like Senators Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas), and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis) to finally issue a statement.

We stand with the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime. The Cuban people are bravely asserting fundamental and universal rights. Those rights, including the right of peaceful protest and the right to freely determine their own future, must be respected. The United States calls on the Cuban regime to hear their people and serve their needs at this vital moment rather than enriching themselves.

We’ve heard nothing from AOC or Bernie Sanders because — what can they say? They want to the same system here that the Cuban people are rejecting there. Cuba is a real-time example of what happens when you go full commie. You should never go full commie.

Worst of all was US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas who said, ““The time is never right to attempt migration by sea. To those who risk their lives doing so, this risk is not worth taking. Allow me to be clear. If you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States.”

Then he said, “If you want to come in, sail to Mexico and travel up through our southern border, because we aren’t really watching it that closely.”

Nah. He didn’t say that. He knows Cubans vote for Republicans, and Florida is turning red, and politicians need Florida to win elections and we can’t have that! Better to have illegals come from South America and not even try to stop them.

And, to top it all off, US Press Secretary Jen Psaki refuses to call communism “communism” and instead blames “mismanagement.”

Here’s what Barbara Arthur, who fled Cuba for the U.S. with her father back in 1969, has to say about the Cuban unrest (my emphasis):

After sixty years of oppression, the Cuban people are rallying for freedom. Thousands have taken to the streets in protest of lack of food, medicine, and blackouts. The people are starving; their children are starving. While many United States athletes dishonor our flag, Cuban protestors wave Old Glory in the face of tyranny. While our mainstream news media seeks to silence us with intimidation, the Cuban people cry out, “We are not afraid.” Truly, “give me liberty or give me death” in full display. Think about it: During the protests, the Cuban government has cut its people off from the internet and social media. Sound familiar? It should. Big Tech has done the same to many conservative Americans who do not align with their political views.

As a Cuban-American, our freedom is especially important to me. My family was ravaged by Castro’s communist regime. He took power as a socialist but within no time he exposed his totalitarian claws. Communism is not at our door, it’s in the house—the White House. If we allow our country to go the way of Cuba or Venezuela, where would we flee to? If there is no free America, there is no American Dream. Wake up, America, socialism is just a nice word for communism.

How ironic that while Leftists here in the U.S. demonize our country and burn our flag, people the world over — Hong Kong comes to mind — wave our flag in their countries as a symbol of freedom. Here in the US, however, we’re facing an increasingly hostile ruling class that has branded 75 million of us Americans as the greatest threat “we” face — the threat of white supremacy.

The truth is that the Democrats are now the party of communism — which means I’d rather be an American than a Democrat.

Have a good weekend.
