Daily Broadside | A thousand smoking guns

‘Morning kids! It’s Thursday and we’re on the downside of another week under the CoronaCareᵀᴹ crackdown. Another blog I follow calls this season “America under seige” because we’re surrounded by threats of arrest or fines or jail time for non-compliance with social distancing and stay-at-home orders.

If you haven’t been paying attention to what’s coming out of Washington D.C. this week, you’re missing revelations that confirm what has long been suspected—that Trump (and by extension, his supporters) has been the target of the worst political conspiracy in the history of the United States.

That’s not an exaggeration.

It’s the worst because it involves one political administration trying to undermine—if not wholly overthrow—the next administration, and thereby threatens to destroy the peaceful transition of power we’ve enjoyed as a country for 244 years.

Consider what we’ve learned over the past few days:

We learned that during an Oval Office meeting on January 5, 2017 that included president Barack Obama, vice president Joe Biden, CIA Director John Brennan, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, and FBI Director James Comey, the administration decided to hide the “Russia collusion” probe from the incoming Trump team, which included LTG Michael Flynn.

Obama revealed intimate knowledge of all the details concerning the plan to frame Flynn, including that the FBI was illegally recording his phone calls during the transition. This is what we call a “smoking gun” and places Obama, as the chief executive, at the top of the scheme. He knew what was happening.

It’s also been a bad week for Joe Biden. We learned on Tuesday that he was at the January 5, 2017 meeting, which would seem to make Biden an accessory to the conspiracy because now he knew about it, too. If it doesn’t make him a co-conspirator, what we learned on Wednesday does: Joe Biden requested the unmasking of LTG Michael Flynn.

Why does the Vice-President of the United States need to unmask a U.S. citizen / political opponent? Biden stated categorically during an interview on Tuesday that he “was aware that there was – that they asked for an investigation, but that’s all I know about it, and I don’t think anything else.” You might chalk it up to his mental decline, but he’s not telling the truth.

We learned that Samantha Power lied to Congress. “Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power testified to Congress in 2017 that she never sought to unmask records containing information about former White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.” Lo and behold, in the same report showing that Joe Biden sought to unmask General Flynn once, Samantha Power “made seven separate requests to unmask Flynn’s name.”

We also learned that Power told House investigators that she had no evidence of Russian interference in the election even though she publicly accused Trump of being a Putin stooge. “I am not in possession of anything—I am not in possession and didn’t read or absorb information that came from out of the intelligence community,” she declared.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told the House Intelligence Committee in 2017 that he “never saw any direct empirical evidence that the Trump campaign or someone in it was plotting [or] conspiring with the Russians to meddle with the election.” That’s very different from what he told CNN in February 2019 that “it is a possibility [that Trump is a Russian asset].”

Former deputy director of the FBI Andy McCabe admitted that he did not know if Christopher Steele’s dossier was true. As we all know by now, the dossier was the basis for opening an investigation into the Trump campaign.

We also learned that former Obama defense analyst Evelyn Farkas lied to the public during an MSNBC interview on March 2, 2017 in which she claimed to evidence of collusion between Russia and Trump. “I didn’t know anything,” said Farkas, under oath, in response to questions from Trey Gowdy.

Adam Schiff is a pathological liar, but we already knew that. To quote the Wall Street Journal editorial board: “From the earliest days of the collusion narrative, Mr. Schiff insisted that he had evidence proving the plot. … None of this was true, and Mr. Schiff knew it. In July 2017, here’s what former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told Mr. Schiff and his colleagues: ‘I never saw any direct empirical evidence that the Trump campaign or someone in it was plotting/conspiring with the Russians to meddle with the election.’ … The same goes for the FBI agents who started the collusion probe in 2016. … On it went, a parade of former Obama officials who declared under oath they’d seen no evidence of collusion or conspiracy.”

Remember CrowdStrike? They’re the cyber-security firm that accused Russia of hacking the Democratic National Committee’s server, helping trigger the FBI’s probe into the alleged conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia. By now you know what’s coming: they could not conclusively say that the emails on that server were, in fact, stolen. “We did not have concrete evidence that the data was exfiltrated from the DNC,” said CrowdStrike President Shawn Henry, “but we have indicators that it was exfiltrated.”

Conspiracy? Nothing to see here. Move along, folks.

We now have clear evidence that Obama’s administration, enabled by certain members of Congress and a complicit national press, was operating like the former Soviet KGB, which concentrated most of its power on its domestic soil and against Soviet citizens. Obama and his co-conspirators plotted to entrap and remove an incoming presidential advisor, spread disinformation, spied on their political rivals, lied to the public, lied to Congress, lied to the incoming president, and perpetuated a false story for the last four years in order to destroy the presidency of Donald J. Trump.

It’s despicable.

Here’s why what Obama and team did is so dangerous to our constitutional republic. Not only have they irretrievably damaged our most powerful institutions, but they’ve exponentially exacerbated the Right / Left conflict.

Imagine indicting all the bad actors: Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Mueller, McCabe, Power, Biden and Obama. Then imagine getting convictions and sending all of these subversive hacks to jail. That’s what should happen.

How do you think that will go over with progressives? How do you think that will play out the next time there’s an election? Do you think the transfer of power will be uneventful? Do you think a new administration will implicitly trust the FBI, the CIA or Congress? Do you think an outgoing administration will be willing to leave quietly, knowing that they might be targeted for retaliation after leaving office?

We’ve had 45 (or so) administrations lead this country over 244 years, and we may have witnessed the last peaceful transition of power back in 2008—when Barack Hussein Obama became president.

What a legacy.
