Daily Broadside | Go to the Ant, You Sluggard

Daily Verse | Joshua 21:45
Not one of the Lord’s good promises to the house
of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

A good Wednesday welcome to you, dear reader. Rhode Island: neither a road nor an island. Discuss.

After the so-called “armed insurrection” (neither “armed” nor an “insurrection”— discuss) of the Capitol on January 6, Washington, D.C. underwent a military lockdown with fencing, razor wire and 25,000 National Guard troops. The reason was to “protect” the inauguration of Resident Biden, the mumbling puppet king of the progressive left, otherwise known as radical unAmerican Democrats.

When the inauguration of the hair-sniffing, child-touching accused digital penetrator went off without a hitch, the withered wonder of the House, 80-year-old Nancy Pelosi, insisted on keeping the People’s House off limits to the People.

First there was the hoax Trump impeachment trial 2.0. Pelosi insisted she needed the troops to protect her fully unconstitutional prosecution persecution of Orange Man Bad. Nothing happened, except Pelosi went 0-2 for impeachment scams.

Then there was March 4, the Constitution’s original presidential inauguration day, when we were told there were threats of right wing extremists gearing up for an assault on the Capitol once again. The Capitol Police said it had “obtained intelligence that shows a possible plot to breach the Capitol by an identified militia group on Thursday, March 4.” How much you wanna bet that the only threat on March 4 was an overweight 60-year-old in a checkerboard shirt and suspenders reclined in a Laz-E-Boy watching The Longest Day starring John Wayne on the VCR in his living room while wiping fried chicken out of his overgrown beard?

In other words, there was no threat, just like there was no threat on January 20.

So why do we read Monday that the fake representatives of the People on the Hill propose making some version of the occupation permanent?

A task force charged with making recommendations to boost congressional security after a deadly Jan. 6 pro-Trump mob assault on Capitol Hill has proposed establishing a permanent military presence ready to go at a moment’s notice in Washington, D.C.

The security review, led by retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré, who ran military relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina, recommended establishing a permanent National Guard quick reaction force, or QRF, for all of D.C.

That was followed by an article in The Washington Post yesterday saying,

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Tuesday approved a request from the Capitol Police to extend the deployment of National Guard members to protect Congress into May, defense officials said, keeping a military presence around one of the nation’s major landmarks for two more months.

Why does Congress need to be protected into May? We’re not told.

This is how an illegitimate regime takes power—slowly, a little at a time, like a boa constrictor wrapping another coil around its victim while squeezing the life out of it.

If you’re not reading Glenn Greenwald, you should be. He’s liberal, but one of the few objective independent journalists out there. Here’s what he wrote about the military occupation of Washington.

This is how apocalyptic cult leaders always function. When the end of the world did not materialize on January 6, Collins insisted that January 20 was the day of the violent reckoning. When nothing happened on that day, he moved the Doomsday Date to March 4. The flock cannot remain in a state of confusion for too long about why the world has not ended as promised by the prophet, so a new date must quickly be provided with an explanation for why this is serious business this time.

[…]

The argument then, and the argument now, is that the threat was being deliberately inflated and exaggerated, and fears stoked and exploited, both for political gain and to justify the placement of more and more powers in the hands of the state in the name of stopping these threats. That is the core formula of authoritarianism — to place the population in a state of such acute fear that it acquiesces to any assertion of power which security state agencies and politicians demand and which they insist are necessary to keep everyone safe.

This is the stuff of a military psyops campaign. Our political leaders are using fake intelligence or exaggerated claims to provide justification for a military intervention, which in turn is used to prove its effectiveness in keeping the peace. But to continue keeping the peace, they need to assume more power and a longer presence until it is impossible to oppose their occupation.

Are we witnessing a coup by a segment of our own people who are enemies of our Constitutional Republic? No one wants to believe it, but when you start putting all of the pieces together, the picture that emerges suggests we are seeing exactly that. George Washington and the other Founding Fathers are spinning in their graves.

We should all take a lesson from the ant.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
 It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Proverbs 6:6-8

  1. “the withered wonder of the House”
    (80-year-old Nancy Pelosi)

This golden moment of hilarity, was needed in the midst of this ominously excellent post.

Thanks for the brief “comic relief”!
