Daily Broadside | Democrats Can’t Cheat If It’s Not Close

Happy Tuesday and welcome to September 2020. A little over eight weeks to go until perhaps the most significant election of my life takes place.

From my perspective, it feels like one of those scenes in an action movie where a character is hanging from a cliff over a chasm. The only thing keeping him from falling to his death is the hand of an ally gripping his arm, but even that is tenuous. It takes a third person to lift our hero to safety.

In our political situation, America is dangling off the precipice, Trump has a grip on it, but unless voters back him up, we lose the country. And not only should they back him up, the should make it a rout. Trump needs to win in a landslide so there’s no doubt where the majority American sentiment lies.

The poll numbers are looking better for Trump in the wake of the Republican National Convention. Trump has closed a 10-point gap to a 6-point gap according to Real Clear Politics polling data. According to Emerson College Polling (which is included in the RCP data), Trump has closed the gap to within a two-point margin of Biden, 49% to 47%.

While this is good news, the reason Trump needs to win by a landslide is that, as Hugh Hewitt wrote, if it’s not close, they can’t cheat. Just a couple of days ago, an anonymous “top Democrat operative” and “Bernie Sanders supporter” admitted that he helped Democrats cheat by fixing mail-in ballots.

A Bernie Sanders die-hard with no horse in the presidential race, he said he felt compelled to come forward in the hope that states would act now to fix the glaring security problems present in mail-in ballots.

“This is a real thing,” he said. “And there is going to be a f–king war coming November 3rd over this stuff … If they knew how the sausage was made, they could fix it.”

That’s an astounding—and frustrating—admission. Now we know why the Democrats want mail-in voting.

We also begin to understand why it’s Democrats in particular who want to keep their states shut down because of the WuPox Panic. If they can keep everyone terrified of getting sick then maybe the majority will want to mail in their vote rather than risk a trip to their polling location.

Never mind that the CDC’s latest weekly update says, “For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death.” In other words, less 10,000 Americans have died strictly from the Chinese Bat Virus. It is safe to go vote in person.

Not only can the Democrats not cheat if it’s an overwhelming turnout for Trump, they get the message that we’re done with the violence, the chaos, the endless accusations and obstruction of this president. I don’t pretend to believe that Democrats and their extremist allies Antifa and BLMTM intend to stand down if there’s a Trump landslide, but the message will be hard to miss.

Make no mistake about it. We are more divided today than at any time since the Civil War. There are so-called American “citizens” marching through Oakland’s streets chanting “Death to America.” There are “fellow citizens” cheering the death of a conservative Trump supporter, murdered in cold blood on the streets of Portland: “I’m not sad that a f—king fascist died tonight!” And they have the audacity, like cowardly Portland mayor Ted Wheeler, to blame the violence on Trump and his supporters.

These are Americans in name only. They don’t stand for American values. They don’t embrace the Constitution. They’re calling for revolution to overthrow our current system of government.

This isn’t kabuki theater. Believe that they mean it, because they do.

We don’t want to give the agitators any encouragement with a close election. We know they won’t accept the results if Trump wins, especially if it’s close, and it’s entirely possible those who support Trump won’t accept the results if Biden wins. It needs to be a once-in-a-hundred-years political tsunami, the likes of which we’ve never seen.

Vote like the future of America—and your freedom—depends on it. It does.
