dAILY bROADSIDE | Civil War not far-fetched

Tuesday and it’s a case of I hate to say I told you so, but …. I did. OK, not quite, but I still believe I’m right.

I’ve been warning for several years that we are headed toward Civil War 2.0. Lots of people I know scoffed at that with questions like, “How would it be fought? There’s no territory or states that are solely Democrat or Republican, or solely liberal or conservative.”

The truth is, I don’t know how the two sides would square off. I just know that we are seriously divided as a nation, and it seems like the Left-Democrat-Progressive-Socialist-antagonists are pushing us toward a kinetic conflict.

Even some reputable opinion leaders and conservative sites I read regularly have begun to say out loud that civil war seems inevitable. For instance, Dennis Prager has written about it. As far back as January 2017 in a post called “America’s Second Civil War,” he wrote,

This Second Civil War, fortunately, differs in another critically important way: It has thus far been largely nonviolent. But given increasing left-wing violence, such as riots, the taking over of college presidents’ offices and the illegal occupation of state capitols, nonviolence is not guaranteed to be a permanent characteristic of the Second Civil War.

As recently as today, I read others who are talking about the coming civil war. William L. Gensert writes in “Democrats Are Forcing a Civil War,”

Americans believe that one can never be too rich, too thin, or too well armed.  And we are, indeed, well armed, with citizens who are beginning to see the game that is being played.  Many estimate that between 300 million and 700 million firearms are in the hands of the public.

If only 10% of those guns are brought to bear, it would mean a minimum of 30 million weapons deployed against Antifa and BLM.  No one wants to see bloodshed, especially gun-owners, who for the most part want to be left alone to protect their families, homes, places of worship, and places of employment.

Yet people are not going to stand by and watch America become another “socialist paradise.”  Americans are going to fight back — this should worry the left, as every hunter is something of a sniper.

Leftists are pushing to see how far they can go before the people confront them.  The push for “change only they can believe in” is going to force this country in a series of bloody battles the left cannot win.

Before the economy-killing and unnecessary lockdowns, and the rioting, I would have said the civil war would happen after the election, no matter who won.  Yet, those on the left are not going to allow that grace.

I think he’s right that this current spasm of violence and rioting is somewhat of a test. Whoever is organizing, directing and funding the chaos is probing to see just how far they can go before they get overt resistance. Right now, not too many Americans have stepped up to defend and or step in to disrupt the rioting and protests. But, along with Gensert, I believe that there is a vast portion of Americans who have had about enough.

Then there was Kurt Schlichter, writing for Town Hall in an article titled, “Brace for the Backlash,”

So, never care and never let them define what may or may not be spoken of. The truth about the inevitability of a backlash is too important to allow it to be silenced. Ignore their lies and prepare for what’s coming, because something is coming. The only question is its intensity. Americans are not going to simply shrug and politely shuffle off to serfdom under their new feudal masters, Lord Kaden of Yale and Princess (or, more likely, the non-gendered “Princexx”) Ashleigh of Santa Monica.

You saw the first rumblings of the backlash in the news as the MSNBCNN types fell into a fussy frenzy over Americans scoring north of eight million new guns since the pangolin pandemic panic started. When a person, particularly one who has never done it before, buys a gun, that’s an indicator of intention. It’s expensive and it’s serious, since it is an acknowledgement of a commitment to fight back against criminal and tyrannical threats. If you buy a gun, you are voting GOP. Period.

And in your life, you are hearing from people who you thought were kind of soft and liberal looking around then whispering to you, “This is crazy. We have to stop this.” It’s becoming clear to the center left that the radicals hate them too. After all, the Mensheviks got shot first. The moderate libs will soon have to choose a side – our side or suicide.

Both articles mention the purchase of guns, which has surged in the last couple of years, and even more so as the indiscriminate violence has fanned out across our country. People are scared and they’re purchasing guns to defend themselves and their families. It’s the natural thing to do when you see the government authorities and the police departments allowing the junior commies to run wild.

The other thing that the articles mention is that “Americans are not going to simply shrug and politely shuffle off to serfdom under their new feudal masters” and “people are not going to stand by and watch America become another ‘socialist paradise.'” From what I hear and see, I think many of us are fast approaching that point where we realize that the only way to stop what is happening is to stand against it. It’s that serious.

There’s a quote ascribed to Winston Churchill that he never said, but has gained an urban legend mystique about it: “Americans will always do the right thing, only after they have tried everything else.” It’s unfortunate that he didn’t say it because it resonates to a degree. We are a patient people. We put up with a lot. But when there is no other choice, Americans will strap up and defend themselves with the kind of punishing finality that the kiddie fascists only imagine themselves possessing.

No sane person wants a hot fight. But no one ever said the progressive Marxists and their toadies in the Democrat party were sane.
