Tuesday. Who could hang a name on you?
I’ve said in this space and on other platforms for at least six years (and probably longer) that unless something radically changes, the trajectory we’ve been on is leading us toward a new civil war. I don’t say that lightly because war is a terrifying affair that scars both those who actively participate and those who don’t, changes the direction of the nation, and forces the country into a recovery that could take years while leaving us vulnerable to outsiders.
But we’re seeing an overt attempt by Democrats and the progressive Left to undermine the rule of law, and the 2020 election may become the event that is a step too far. Here’s just a taste of what’s going on out in society these days.
Carlos Piccata spoke earlier this year at a County Council meeting about the lockdowns in Shasta County, California. He’s a veteran and after telling the council that he’s a businessman and that “our families are starving” because of the lockdowns, he issues a warning to the council members.
I’m telling you right now we are being peaceful and you better be happy that we’re good citizens – that we’re peaceful citizens. But it’s not going to be peaceful much longer. This isn’t a threat. I’m not a criminal. I’ve never been a criminal, but good citizens are going to turn into real concerned and revolutionary citizens real soon. And nobody else is going to say that; I am probably the only person the has the balls to say what I am saying right now.
I went to war for this country. I’ve seen the ugliest, dirtiest parts of humanity. I’ve been in combat, and I never wanted to go back again. But, I’m telling you what, I will, to save this country. If it has to be against our own citizens, it will happen. And there’s a million people like me.
Carlos is voicing what a million of us are feeling. There will come a point where the people will take matters into their own hands.
Then there’s this video that went viral this past week of a business owner in (where else?) Los Angeles, California.
I’m losing everything. Everything I own is being taken away from me. And they set up a movie company right next to my outdoor patio. … And people wonder why I’m protesting and why I have had enough. They have not given us money and they have shut us down. We cannot survive. My staff cannot survive.
She then goes on to point out the absolute insanity of calling her outdoor set up “dangerous” but an almost identical set up less than 50 feet away from hers “safe.”
And now there’s this video from Olympia, Washington, where Trump supporters gave Antifa a little of their own medicine.
Meanwhile, Roger Kimball writes at American Greatness, “The faith in fairness has been shattered beyond recovery and the assumption of anything like a shared consensus seems more and more like a naïve pretense when it isn’t just a cynical hustings gambit.”
And Roger Simon writes at The Epoch Times,
[T]he 74 million or so Trump supporters who feel disenfranchised—not only by the manipulations of the opposite party and their media friends, but also by the considerable number of self-interested leaders of their own party who have betrayed them—aren’t likely to resort to violence like the Antifa sociopaths. …
But if these same patriotic people, known as the “deplorables,” are violently opposed, all bets are off. Civil disobedience will morph into civil war.
In other words, normal Americans are feeling the hopelessness that four years of a running coup, a draconian response to a weaponized virus unleashed by China, and a clearly rigged election have produced. Here’s one of the comments in reply to Benny Johnson’s tweet:
LA is not alone in being a “powder keg.” It’s safe to say that these sentiments are shared across the country. But will it evolve into a shooting war? Look at the reaction of the Trump supporters. Guns were being brandished. We’ve already seen a couple of shooting deaths at confrontations like these.
At some point, normal Americans will be pushed one time too many, or feel like we’re boxed into a corner like the business owners. We’ve been patient and have tried to cooperate on behalf of the country. But our leaders have betrayed us and are acting like the junior commies they want to be.
At some point you feel like you have no choice—and then you remember that you’re a free man in a free land and the government answers to you!
Keep your powder dry. You may soon need it.
