Welcome to the week after the last week. It was a doozy.
The coronation of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris by the media and the Left is premature and, if reversed on decision of the Supreme Court, will result in major blowback from the Left. If we thought Antifa and the Left were insane for most of the last year, just wait until they feel they were robbed of this election.
So far, Trump supporters and conservatives in general have held their tongues, but I’ve been reading social media, blogs and other sources of opinion. I can tell you that some are talking about all the ways to respond, with violence being the last resort—but the fact that violence is listed, even if last, is telling.
That brings me to Joe Biden’s comments from this past weekend. The New York Times reported,
In remarks before a drive-in audience in Wilmington, Del., Mr. Biden sketched out a vision for confronting the coronavirus pandemic that has gripped the nation, and he offered a direct message for the tens of millions of Americans who backed President Trump’s re-election.
“For all those of you who voted for President Trump, I understand the disappointment tonight,” Mr. Biden said. “I’ve lost a couple times myself. But now, let’s give each other a chance. It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again.”
He added, “This is the time to heal in America.”
This is rich coming from the guy who sat in Barack Hussein Obama’s Oval Office and plotted how to take down Michael Flynn. The same guy who in the same meeting suggested that the legal but operationally defunct Logan Act might be just the ticket to do that.
This from the guy who’s party is responsible for trying to overthrow the duly elected president for the last four years using the Russia! collusion hoax, the 25th Amendment, the Emoluments Clause, the Ukraine impeachment charade (and don’t forget the 100 other reasons Democrats have come up with to impeach the president) and any number of other forms of insubordination and tantrum throwing.
This from the guy who’s party refused to condemn the Burning, Looting and Mayhem of BLM and Antifa but, in fact, encouraged it and contributed to funds setting rioters free.
This from the guy who actually conducted a quid pro quo with Ukraine—and bragged about it on video!—in order to protect from scrutiny the company on whose board his son Hunter sat, pulling in some $80,000 a month.
This from the guy who called normal Americans “the dregs of society” and “chumps,” who got irritated by anyone who challenged his positions on fracking, gun control, or his son’s business dealings.
This from the guy who sat in Washington for 47 years getting filthy rich and making a mess of everything from the Clarence Thomas hearings—remember the “high-tech lynching”?—to the mass incarceration era.
This from the guy who spins fanciful yarns about his faceoff with Corn Pop, kids rubbing his hairy legs; the guy who sniffs and nudges women and is credibly accused of sexually assaulting an intern while he was a Senator.
As Paul Mirengoff writes,
“Why, after the way President Trump was treated, should any of his supporters consider uniting behind Biden? Indeed, quite apart from the treatment of Trump, how can we be expected to unite around a nasty, corrupt, and dishonest president who might not even have won the votes necessary to make it to the White House under fair voting procedures and honest counting?”
Joe Biden suggesting we put away harsh rhetoric and give each other a group hug is like Al Capone suggesting to George “Bugs” Moran that they give peace a chance after the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.
It may be time to heal, but Joe Biden isn’t the one to lead it. And if he thinks he is, he’s about to be disappointed. Bigly.
