Daily Broadside | Death, Destruction and National Defense

Friday and the end of another week. We seem to be blazing through July, and I’m not just talking weather. It’s only got one week left in it and I think we should be thankful for that.

Sports Are Dead to Me

As we head into the weekend, I want to hit a few things briefly. First, professional sports are now ruined for me, probably permanently. As Kruiser says, sports were meant to be “a relaxing escape for millions of Americans.” They’re now the arena of political commentary of the liberal kind. The NBA will paint “Black Lives Matter” on its courts and allow players to wear a “social justice” word and phrase from an approved list. The NFL just pledged $250 million over ten years to “combat systemic racism,” the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins is now the “Washington Football Team,” and players will be allowed to wear social justice decals on helmets. Over in major league baseball, the entire Yankees and Nationals teams knelt before the national anthem of the season opener, players wore T-shirts saying Black Lives Matter during batting practice, and the letters “BLM” were stenciled on the back of the mound. My prediction? Black lives do not improve and the three leagues’ hemorrhage fans and money.

RIP Mike S. Adams

Mike Adams and Ben Shapiro

Mike S. Adams, champion of the First Amendment, pro-life advocate, columnist, lecturer, professor at University of North Carolina Wilmington and atheist-turned-Christian, was found dead in his home on Thursday. There’s an investigation into the cause of death. This is a tough loss for the “good guys.” Mike seemed to be a happy warrior who loved to tweak progressives over their nonsense, deliberately provoking the woke mob. His Facebook profile said, “I’m just a black lesbian trapped in a straight white man’s body.” He had 4,955 friends on Facebook, but died alone.

And the Statues Came A’Tumblin’ Down

While the rioting seems to have quieted down some, there are still statues being pulled down or vandalized. The number has reached 183, as documented in this article by Jonah Gottschalk at The Federalist. Not only does he list them all, he gives some interesting facts, including this one: “By far the most common route for monuments being destroyed was for protesters to damage it, then the city quickly removing it as a ‘public safety’ hazard, not to be returned.”

Space Force “Sempra Supra”

The United States Space Force unveiled it’s logo and motto. We should pay attention to the development of this sixth branch of the U.S. military, which is taking national defense to space.

Do something wild and woolly this weekend.
