Daily Broadside | Louie Gohmert Sticks Democrats with Rule 4

It’s Monday and by this Friday we’ll have completed this year’s edition of July. Parts of the country are still under siege, especially in Democrat-run cities like Portland, Seattle, Boston, New York and Chicago where “mostly peaceful” rioters continue their insurrectionist activities. I liked last July better.

We’re now 99 days away from the presidential election on November 3, 2020, and I genuinely don’t know how anyone can support the Democrats. Unless they’re fully enthralled with the Utopian vision that communism promises but never delivers, anyone with their head on straight only needs to look at the anarchy created by the current Axis of BLM, Antifa and the Democrats to be convinced none of them should be anywhere near the levers of power.

Apparently Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) thinks the same. He introduced a privileged resolution last Thursday calling on Congress to ban “any political organization or party that has ever held a public position supportive of slavery or the Confederate States of America.”

His resolution follows last Wednesday’s House vote to remove statues in the Capitol of people who sided with the Confederacy or otherwise worked to defend slavery. In a statement released by his office Gohmert said,

Since people are demanding we rid ourselves of the entities, symbols, and reminders of the repugnant aspects of our past, then the time has come for Democrats to acknowledge their party’s loathsome and bigoted past, and consider changing their party name to something that isn’t so blatantly and offensively tied to slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination, and the Ku Klux Klan. As the country watches violent leftists burn our cities, tear down our statues and call upon every school, military base and city street to be renamed, it is important to note that past atrocities these radicals claim to be so violently offensive were largely committed by members in good standing of the Democratic Party. Whether it be supporting the most vile forms of racism or actively working against Civil Rights legislation, Democrats in this country perpetuated these abhorrent forms of discrimination and violence practically since their party’s inception.

Gohmert is cleverly applying Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals to the radicals themselves, specifically Rule 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”

If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

In this case, if the rule is that everything associated with the Confederacy and the institution of slavery must be destroyed, then the Democratic Party must go.

In his resolution, Gohmert lists the efforts of the Democratic Party to protect, preserve and extend slavery, starting with the Democratic Party Platform of 1840, then going on to include the Democratic Party’s support in 1860 for the Fugitive Slave Act; the 14th amendment (1868) giving full citizenship to freed slaves that passed with 94% Republican support and 0% Democratic support; and the 15th amendment (1870) giving freed slaves the right to vote that passed with 100% Republican support and 0% Democratic support; the 1924 DNC known as the “Klan Bake” because of the Ku Klux Klan’s influence on the Democratic Party; and the 75-calendar-day filibuster led by the Democratic Party against the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

After pasting the Democrats with their racist history, Gohmert concludes his resolution with two remedies:

Resolved,

1. That the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall remove any item that names, symbolizes or mentions any political organization or party that has ever held a public position that supported slavery or the Confederacy, from any area within the House wing of the Capitol or any House office building, and shall donate any such item or symbol to the Library of Congress.

2. That any political organization or party that has ever held a public position that supported slavery or the Confederacy shall either change its name or be barred from participation in the House of Representatives.

It’s unlikely that the resolution will go anywhere, but I admire Gohmert for boldly sticking it in the Dem’s faces.

The Democratic Party, including their mentally-deficient puppet Joe OBiden-Bama, is a dumpster fire of contradictions, a collective of anti-American, politically subversive cultural Marxists. They shouldn’t just change their name as Gohmert suggests—they should be outlawed.
