Daily Broadside | In Remembrance of MLK

Daily Verse | Genesis 39:23
The Lord was with Joseph and gave him
success in whatever he did.

Happy Monday. Today is MLK Day, a federal holiday marking the birthday of civil rights icon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, the first national Martin Luther King Jr. holiday was observed on the third Monday of January 1986.

I’ve always been stirred by King’s speeches, especially his “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963, and his “Letter From Birmingham Jail” written on April 16, 1963.

Today, in his memory, take a few minutes to listen to “I Have a Dream” here or read the text of his “Letter From Birmingham Jail” here.
