Daily Verse | Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
Friday and it’s the close of another week and the last business day in February. Does anyone else think celery sticks look like snowboarding half pipes?
On Thursday the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5, the so-called Equality Act, 224-206. Three Republicans—John Katko (R-N.Y.), Tom Reed (R-N.Y.), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.)—voted with Democrats. Their lack of conservative principles should be hung like millstones around their necks come the 2022 mid-terms.
Passing the legislation is a top priority for Resident Biden in his first 100 days of illegally occupying the White House. If Congress does pass it, Biden will sign it. The effect it will have on our nation will be like an Orwellian nuclear bomb.
The Equality Act offers anything but “equality.” It is the most oppressive, authoritarian piece of social engineering ever drafted in recent memory. If passed by the Senate, it will have far-reaching and profoundly disturbing effects on American society as we know it.
It’s not too much to say that it will wreck our already tottering republic.
The “Equality” Act is positioned as legislation that will protect members of the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination by adding the categories of sexual orientation and gender identity to all federal civil rights laws, including the 1964 Civil Rights Act. These are new protected classes defined not by immutable characteristics like race, sex or national origin, but by an array of chosen interpersonal relationships and a variety of “identities” that are subject to change based on how someone “feels” or “perceives” themselves.
In other words, the law detaches itself from objective criteria in favor of subjective claims.
No one will escape its impact because the new categories will be added to laws on public accommodations, employment, housing, credit, education, federal funding, jury service, child welfare services, banking, and medicine and psychiatry.
Worst of all, the “Equality” Act will undermine the First Amendment rights of people of faith. It explicitly carves out an exemption from the right of religious freedom embodied in the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) passed in 1993.
The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 … shall not provide a claim concerning, or a defense to a claim under, a covered title, or provide a basis for challenging the application or enforcement of a covered title.
In other words, if an evangelical church, for example, denies the use of their sanctuary for a same-sex marriage ceremony, the RFRA cannot protect them. They will be subject to claims of “discrimination” in violation of federal law.
Writes Alfred Kentigern Siewers,
Indeed, the Equality Act would officially erase the rights of members of traditional faith communities to publicly make life choices based on anthropologies that do not accept same-sex marriage and transgenderism. Such minority faiths include Orthodox Judaism and Orthodox Christianity, traditional Islam and Buddhism, and Evangelical Protestantism, whose adherents are often low-income residents of rural areas and have been historically underrepresented in elite American institutions. The Equality Act would impose the anthropology of elite, secular, Eurocentric culture on such traditions. All this would be based on contested science, given that essential categories of sexual orientation and transgender identity remain topics of disagreement even within LGBTQ communities.
Mass Resistance, a grass roots advocacy group, wrote the following about the “Equality” Act.
Authored by openly homosexual Congressman David Cicilline (D‐Rhode Island), this legislation aims to “expand” the Civil Rights Act and its protections to include homosexuals, transgenders, and individuals who identify with other paraphilias. This bill will normalize perverse, destructive behaviors while harming children.
This legislation is nothing more than a Trojan Horse to stamp out our God-Given rights, enshrined in the United States Constitution. It’s an attack on life, the family, and our society as a whole.
If this bill passes and gets signed into law, these are some of the terrible outcomes that will follow:
1. This bill will undermine the Civil Rights Movement which black Americans fought for.
2. Churches will get sued or lose their tax‐exemption status if they do not accommodate LGBT behaviors.
3. Children would be forced to learn about destructive LGBT behaviors in public schools.
4. Parents who oppose this curriculum could be charged with illegal discrimination.
5. Private colleges would lose funding, grants, and scholarships.
6. Public accommodations and small businesses would be forced to allow men into women’s bathrooms and vice versa.
7. Business owners would be forced to violate their freedom of conscience.
8. Hospitals and clinics will be forced to offer experimental and harmful transgender treatments.
9. Foster and adoption agencies with natural values will be forced to close.
This is just another reason the Democrats are a garbage party and the true threat to our freedoms. They are anti-American when it comes to the Constitution and our God-given rights it acknowledges. Those rights aren’t bestowed by the government—they are intrinsically ours by virtue of our humanity. Government exists only to protect our rights—but our current government seeks to destroy them. They are no longer representative, but an authoritarian oligarchy.
The “Equality” Act is an evil construct that must be opposed at every turn. I plead with everyone reading this to contact your Senator and demand that they vote “No” when this totalitarian permission slip is put to a vote.
